Great place ...even better people. Bar tenders are always personable and call you by name after just a few visits you become family.

Mother's Day at Palmetto Osteria was absolutely beautiful. My husband managed to get us a 5:30…read morereservation. It was either that or 8 because they were fully booked for the holiday. After dining there I completely understand why. The view overlooking the lake was stunning, the food was divine and the service felt relaxed, easy, and welcoming. Our server felt less like staff and more like an extension of our family. We all enjoyed our food and the wine we paired with it. Dessert was great as well. Mother's Day was a hit. I'm glad we chose this place. And, thanks to Eric our overall experience was exactly what we expected.

I had the seafood pasta and loved it, while my fiancé got the chicken Caesar salad, which was delicious and had such a unique presentation. I also got the coconut margarita, and it was SO good, especially if you like sweeter drinks! SERVICE: Our server was amazing, and I wish I remembered his name! They seemed a little short-staffed and were pretty busy, but everything was handled really well. We also didn't have a reservation, and they were able to seat us right away, which was a huge plus! AMBIANCE: The restaurant was very clean, upscale, and had a bougie feel that made it perfect for a date night. The atmosphere felt elevated without being too formal, and we really enjoyed the overall vibe!

I was on a mission to escape the hot humid tropicalesqe afternoon that is a Galveston Texas August day. Daiquiri Time Out popped up while spinning the Roulette Wheel that is Yelp. So,with door code in hand I headed out. Taking note of another Yelpers recommendation to arrive early as the place is small and fills up,we did. On the far edge of downtown in a non descript building this bar, billed as a speakeasy, sat. The sidewalk was melting under my feet as I walked towards the door. No entry code needed. After my eyes adjusted, what I saw wasn't what I expected. Dirty Dancing+Saturday Night Fever+Ms Kitty's Gun Smoke saloon had a strange feel. Ok, let's go. We, as the first guest of the soon to be 5'oclock crowd approached the bartender, alone behind a just right mixing station. After perusing a menu of specialties and being guided through a few questions,we ordered. The good- I found an interesting little place to beat the summer heat and enjoy a decent drink. Not so good- not as billed. Overall no quirkiness or unique qualities to write home about. No snackes served with each drink as described by others. Once the place started filling up and I started my second adult beverage, things were looking up. Go,but with lowered expectations.

Hung out here on Saturday and there's been much improvement in the service, hence the star upgrade…read more I think we had about three different cocktail waitresses serve us during our stay - which lasted well past sunset. They were all speedy and friendly, helpful when it came to selecting cocktails and food. Chocolate martinis are still delicious, as are the fruity frou-frou drinks - but not that strong. And each time I got bubbly or a mimosa, it was warm. I still drank it, but meh. Drinks are still more than you'd want to pay for a not-so-stiff drink, but what hotel bar isn't pricey? I spent probs more than $100 just on myself, so I rec just buying a bottle. You have to have a wristband to access the pool and get towel service; not sure how to get a band if you're not staying at the hotel. I guess you could always rent a cabana. Which are pretty pimp. Flat screen TV, couches, fresh fruit, bottled water and of course, poolside view and VIP service. Cabanas sell out fast, so book early (weeks ahead, not days) if you're gonna drop in on a weekend. The crowd here is an even mix of families, hotties and regular Joes, which I like. I did, however, notice a lot of hot moms with their kiddos. Great idea for those moms looking for a quick getaway that can entertain both adults and youngsters. Potties: Please use them. Don't go in the pool. As added persuasion, the restroom inside the main lobby has a tub of fragrant salt scrub that's complimentary. They also have foot showers, a mojito bar, wet bar, hot tub, kiddie slide with a grotto. There's a no-smoking rule here. I'm not a smoker, but I wanted to enjoy my Hight Cigar and feel all baller like. Ah well, I'll save it for another day.

So other than the service being a little slow, the place was really cute. The ambience is amazing. I love the big chandelier. It gives you old-time rich vibes. Their menu has different options. They do have a vegetarian portion. The samosas were kind of like beef, taco mimosas that's what it taste like to me. They're red fish was really good cause the crab crusted on the outside and the sauce mixed together. I definitely recommend getting that if you like fish. I got it with a side of mac & cheese. It does come with veggies, but they let you change out the side. My mom got the margarita pizza and I've had pizza for sure but they do have five or six options of pizzas to choose from. And all the best thing was the bread pudding. Definitely get that save some room. It was warm with ice cream and the perfect bread pudding. I've ever had get it. There is street parking after six. It's free. There's a garage parking too. I don't know how much it costs. Besides the service, everything was really good. It took them a while to fill up our waters, but I did notice they were shortstaffed.

8.6.26 (Really should be ZERO STARS!)…read more My family came here for dinner. We "were" excited because it was close to where we were staying and the parking lot was packed several times when we drove by. When we drove up 2 employees were coming from under the building having a smoke break laughing and giggling. They walked upstairs and we never saw them again. When we walked in there were only 2 tables with customers, no bartender, no hostess at the stand, no employees anywhere so we just stood there waiting. After 5 minutes someone appears and sits us at a table 5 steps away from where we had been standing. (Also, you know when you walk into a restaurant you expect it to smell like good food or at least like food....well this place did not smell like any food at all) (This made me nervous) We needed to use the diaper changing station in the women's restroom well, it was in a bathroom stall and the door was locked. We did not know if someone was using the stall or if it was out of order. We knocked and knocked and no one answered. We came out and asked our server (who appeared after we had been sitting there for 15 minutes!) if it was out of order or what. She said she was not sure and had to go ask her manager. She disappear. Came back for our drink order and we asked what she found out what the restroom - oh she forgot to ask. She laughed and left again to go ask. W H A T! Also it was a Thursday evening and they are suppose to have some kind of steak special on Thursdays but we ask her what was the price and she said, "we don't really know the price", "It will be somewhere around $40-$50 or something like that." (Rolling my eyes) At this point we had been there for 25 minutes and no drinks, still waiting on the answer if the bathroom is out of order so we can use the changing station, no food has come out of the kitchen to the other customers or no real price for the steaks. I said we have to go, this place is a shipwreck and we did not want to go down with it without food! --------- I don't expect this place to be in business when we go back to Galveston.
