Came at 11:40 on a Wednesday, google said open til 2 am. Walked up the super long ramp to a locked door. Very unfortunate.

Nice bar with amazing views, friendly bartender and a pool table . We enjoyed a few drinks while shooting pool for an hour or so . The bartender was sweet and the place seemed nice and clean . The views were amazing ! A great place to relax and to have some fun ! read more

stopped in for a quick drink on a gloomy looking Sunday. Porches were closed but bar was warm and bartender was friendly. when the weather cooperates the big open porches are great at this place. And it has a pool table for those who enjoy. read more

The owner was very rude and seemed to be intoxicated! The service sucked, the bartender was on the phone and not engaged with the customers.

I enjoy giving a good review, but just left this place. All the taps were inop. The only bottle beer they have are the corporate beers. You know Bud, Bud light, Miller, Miller light, Modelo and so on. I was hopeing for a local beer or and IPA. Sorry, none of those guys. No luck, so I passed. I asked for an Margarita for my Wife. She honest to god poured maybe 3/4 shot of REALLY cheep Tequila like liquor and what may have been half a shot at best of Tripple sec, filled the glass with Mr Ts mix and ice. Took a few sips put in on the counter and left. So if you like cheep bottled beer with a nice view. This is your place. P.S this place is called a bar. NO its not, its a palce to get a beer . They have bottles of liquor on the shelf, but if you cant make a simple margarita I'll pass. 2 stars are for the view. read more

I really like this little place! I never experienced any of the crappy things other have said in poor reviews. I've always had a friendly bartender, beer selection is good enough for my craft beer snob self, and they're dog friendly. It has always been a happy place to grab a beer or two for me. Maybe I just got lucky with my initial and lasting expectations, thus why a lack of food menu doesn't bother me. So you drink then eat someplace else! This is Galveston. We aren't lacking in places to eat with views of the ocean. Woody's is simple and the GOOD divey. I prefer to go when it's not busy, also clearing up any potential issues with annoying loud drunks... but that's at any bar. 3 stars because it IS just a basic no-frills beach/biker bar. But when you want something relaxed on a sunny afternoon, this is a great option. :) read more

Nice hang out with cool breeze on a hot day sitting around enjoying company watching the boats come in and lots and lots of people catching crabs late into the evening. Great music playing, friendly people. Very large place to come in and unwind from a hectic day right near a beach area. Had a great time and would definitely recommend and come back again. Didn't eat here so I'm not sure if there's food but had a cold one. Nice place to chill. read more

Woodys needs to do better! We stopped in to watch a world series game because Woodys is advertised as a sports bar. We couldnt even sit at the bar because the barstools were broken. There is one tv behind the bar and music blasting so we couldnt hear the game. No tvs on the huge patio. They have such a large venue they should serve food or have a food truck in their parking lot. Great views but we wont be back. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Couldn't even get past the entrance when owner approached us with negative comments since we arrived at the same time as a group of cars. Owner shouldn't be assuming or grouping people that are trying to walk into the business. There's a reason why we were walking in. Decided to take our business elsewhere. Road bar, tap and bottled beers, drinks. No food. Service was fast, only was there for an afternoon beer on the back deck. Plenty of space to sit in and outdoors, 180 degree views of the coast and surroundings. Music was great, not super loud and just a great ambience to chill. Although I wasn't there for live music there is a big stage in the back to serve the purpose. read more

Can I leave a negative 5 star? Was charged 197.84 (tip was left cash) one day for our consumption and 4 days later was charged 100.00. Bartender gave herself a generous tip without my knowledge. Tip was left cash...DONT USE CREDIT CARDS AT WOODYS. View was nice but you can get that view from any spot and not get screwed by a rat. read more

Don't waste your money. Watery margarita with very little tequila. Did not fill glades and left drink at n blender. Nice breeze on deck.

Be warned: They have a HIDDEN charge on the bill. If you use a credit card, they will charge you a Non-Cash fee of 3%. WHAT? This was never disclosed when I paid or I'd pay cash. We stopped in on a Saturday evening. We planned to enjoy time on the patio but they don't allow anyone to sit on the side that faces the ocean because it gets too cold inside the bar(?). We drove down to go to the ocean side patio so that was a bummer. Anyway, we found seats around the bar where another group was seated just behind us at the large table. We ordered our beers and started to relax, however, the group seated at the table behind us was extremely loud and continued to repeatedly use the "n" word- over and over- and other racist language. The bar was partially full- however, no one else in the bar- including the bartender-seemed particularly bothered by a group of white people screaming the "n" word and being loud and racist. We weren't sure what to do- we just grew increasingly more disgusted and uncomfortable- so we got up and left. We won't be back again- any place that welcomes overt racism isn't a place we want to go. Gross. read more

Surprisingly liked this place! Doesn't look like the coolest place & doesn't serve food but they had live music and a friendly bartender! If you are looking for a packed place with tons of games this isn't your place but I'm vacationing in Galveston with family and we enjoyed it quite a bit. Tons of seating outside and you can see the sunset PERFECTLY from the patio..the live music was fun, and even with the music you can still have a conversation without yelling at each other. It was a great place to catch up with the fam! I enjoyed it and will go back next time I come to Galveston! read more

Very smoky. If you smoke it's ok. Unfortunately the winds had everyone inside vs outside. The service was fine but the drinks suck. That says a lot for a Jack and Coke. The soda was out of date so the drinks were awful. And for $7 a small glass was a bit much. read more

This is a "must stop" every time we come down to Galveston from Tomball. Especially during the summertime for the live music they have. We love that Woody's supports local bands the way they do.... Whoever books the music there does a phenomenal job at picking them! The gulf/beach view at Woody's from pretty much anywhere in the bar or deck area is second to none; you won't find a better spot to have a cold beer, watch the sun set, and hear a live band playing all at once.... Woody's is also a fantastic people watching adventure! At any one time, there's everyone from little old ladies and their colorful costume jewelry, the lived there forever island residents, the local and definitely not so local bikers, the way outta town tourists, college spring-breakers, to those that just happen by. The added bonus is that on the multiple occasions we've been, every one of those people have been nothing but friendly and engaging... Including the bartenders! I'm not sure what people expect from bartenders that have served what I'd be willing to bet is in the high hundreds of people on just one Saturday (and at a biker bar!) in the first place, but it's not like they have some 27 page drink menu; it's beer, liquor and shots, order and get out of (my) way! They don't have just you to take care of... order your beer, start a tab, say thanks, and let the next person get theirs instead of waiting on an overworked and underpaid bartender to treat you like you're at a five star restaurant and you're her only table. Sorry, but I've been there enough to see it first hand... and I adore those girls and we've never felt anything less than welcome! read more

This placed sucked. Don't believe any positive reviews on this site. I think only the bar regulars or workers are the only one to have posted those. We got dropped off by an Uber to enjoy what looked on their sited to be a fun evening of drinks, pool, and pizza. Instead we find out as we're walking up their giant plank to get inside that not do they only not have any food, they don't even have RESTROOMS for their customers. I've never heard of a bar that didn't have a restroom. We had one drink while we called Uber again and left. Their site shows pizza as a food item and then you find out they serve no food. Meanwhile the 5 locals sitting at the bar are loud, obnoxious, and one even has his dog with him inside the bar. Don't waste your time here... This place SUCKS HARD!!! read more

I don't know if our bartender was the same "rude bartender" everyone else keeps talking about, but ours served us her recommended local beers with a smile! After traipsing about in the Gulf, Woody's was my designated place to change clothes. Although the bathroom is cozy, granted, I'm gigantic, it was cute. I was walked in on by what I consider to be the MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL in the whole wide world. Blonde, petite, gorgeous eyes, wearing a sundress leaving little to the imagination. Come to find out? She's an employee! Omg. I'm in love. Come back just to see her :) The views are beautiful, the folks are friendly and chill, there's some awesome old-school games scattered about, and it looks like there may be the occasional live band. But you know the real reason for my five star rating (aside from my new girl crush)? I came here with my Canadian soulmate. I've vacationed in Galveston too many times to count, and my time at Woody's was the worst experience I've had on the island. The location is cool, over-looking the gulf, and it was right down the road from our beach rental. That's the only positive thing I have to say about Woody's. We arrived shortly before midnight on a Friday night in August. We were a little reluctant to check it out, honestly, because there was only one car in the parking lot. The place was completely dead. It was hotter in the bar than it was outside. There is one run-down pool table. There is a jukebox with a pathetic selection of music (seriously, you might find better songs on a Waffle House jukebox) which skipped a third or so of the songs we paid for. It also stole a dollar from me, and the bartender did not reimburse my money. Speaking of the bartender, she was unfriendly, rude, and unprofessional. The drinks were weak. I was told they don't take debit, which I found to be inconvenient. We left because of the bartender and because the place was a total bore. You could not pay me to go back to Woody's. read more

This place is most definitely a hole in the wall but, do you want to go in a bar on vacation that reminds you of cheers and being at home? If you do than this is your place! This is a bar on stilts and has plenty of patio space with pool tables in the back and plenty of your biker crowd mixed with locals. We came in here looking for friends that were vacationing on the island and had been in there drinking but, they had already left. They have a nice big parking lot out front! There was also live music going on inside the bar! This is most definitely a shot and a beer type of place but, who doesn't love that on a vacation? I don't know about you but, I do! I will definitely come in this place again while on Galveston Island! read more
