The food was astronomical, mark my words BEST PHO ON THE ISLAND, there I said it. The Pirate Seafood pho with chicken was dynamic with a flavor that I kept coming back for. It was like that scene in Ratatouille where the critic Anton Ego is at a loss for words. If there's one thing I know about Phos they usually take 3+ limes and a dollop of sriracha to make it taste right...but this? Perfect as is. Needs not a touch of anything more. My only regret not getting here sooner. Spike the owner, a loving man who cares about atmosphere, personalized service and taking care of your needs. He provided service as if you were sitting at the dinning room table of his own house. Show Spike and Pirate Island Bar & Grill some love, it's beachfront, quiet, and has a seat there just waiting for you.

I eat here on a regular basis, Spike makes an amazing margarita with fresh squeezed juice. The pirate rolls, wings, Pad Thai with Grilled Pork (I prefer level 3 spicy because habenero keeps me humble), Banh Mi Sandwich and Vermicelli bowls are all on regular rotation. See you at the bar-but not on Tuesday, because they are closed.

She was very polite, helpful, and did a fantastic job taking care of us. The place itself was clean, had a great atmosphere, and looked awesome. It's a perfect spot to grab a drink, enjoy some delicious food, and watch your favorite sport. I highly recommend trying the blackened fish sandwich -- it was delicious! We also ordered the fish and chips. The full order only comes with two smaller pieces of fried fish, so I probably wouldn't recommend it if you're really hungry, but the fish was still delicious. The fries were incredible, and even though I'm usually not a fan of tartar sauce, their homemade tartar sauce was really good! Overall, we had a great first experience and would definitely come back. If you're visiting Galveston, McNeal's Tavern & Eatery is definitely worth checking out!

The menu looks like a fun mix of an English tavern (bangers and mash) with tex Mex (burritos). They also have interesting options like Rueben egg rolls. Our bartender Sammy was very friendly. The drinks were good. Nice vibe. Friday night had live music. Place smelled a bit like a urinal cake or something but that was the only downside. Lots of TVs on, with a variety of things to watch. Would definitely return. 4 stars Night 2: came in for dinner the day after coming for drinks. Bri was our server. Very friendly. Food was great. I got the seafood pasta and my husband got the steak bomb. We shared the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. He had two Moscow mules and I had a white wine. All very good. Came out to $86 before tip. No smell this time so I'm bumping it up to five stars. I hope to stop into this place on future visits to Galveston.

We have been here and able to sit outside without having to pay $25 to eat/drink at an outside bar?…read moreNeedless to say, we went inside and sat at the bar. The servers were all very pleasant and knowledgeable with a few good recommendations. Started with an Expresso martini. It tasted like a shaken shot of Tito's Expresso vodka, which I like, it's strong, but would have been good shaken with a little Baileys :) The Gulf Shrimp was the star of the night. Very fresh, nice size for the price and I love their house made tarter/raumelade sauce. Split the Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich with my husband. Pretty disappointed. Did not have a buttermilk coating, it was more like a frozen chicken patty:( the slaw was tasty, but a little saucy for me. Loved the Fries and Homemade Chips and their Ranch was good! Nice bustling atmosphere with multiple televisions and nice comfortable bar area.

Had a little back and forth with the server. That seemed to cost me actual "service". Two hours. That's how long it took to get redfish, then another 20 because the veggies didn't come with it. Not once was an explanation given what was taking so long, so we just smiled as EVERY other patron had their food delivered, ate, paid, and the tables turned over. I decided to get petty, we completed our dinner, which did arrive hot, and was delicious. Asked for the dessert menu for my two sons and wife. Server asked if she could just tell us what's on it, nah sis, I'll take the menu. Ordered some fried Oreos, and a milkshake, joke at the table was, "why we don't just tell her we can pick it up on our way to the pier tomorrow, it may be ready by then". Finally came, we asked for it to go, we sat, we sat, we sat, it came back, with the bill as expected, what wasn't expected was the server standing over my left shoulder. I handed $300 cash on a $258 bill. I left with my $42 in change. Play with me. Needless to say we won't be returning, which is a bummer, it was my children's, and wife's first time there and I was excited to share it with them. My son had to see me, a person who NEVER tips less than the what I believe to be the obligatory 20%, but offer 30-50, walk out leaving a $0. I write this review, hoping not to anger anyone, but hopefully the management can focus on some remedial service training with their staff. At least this one in particular.
