This is the last time I'm going to this place. My parents supported them back in the 80's. Food was on point. I don't know what they did with the family recipes, but the food is horrible. They are so inconsistent it's disturbing. My last order will literally be my last. My fish tasted like it was cooked in old grease. The fries could've used a temperature check and the chicken was dry. Dixon's has been around to long to be having less than 5 five stars. Get it right, my people. The food was not Prepared right it was already cooked and cooked over the chicken was black they wanted to warm the food up in the microwave and I don't and they have no gloves on and they didn't have on a mask they use table salt which was not the seasoning they were supposed to use no flavoring in the food at all I will never go back here again read more

Been wanting to try this place for so long but my visit last week left me so disappointed. Ordered ahead for pickup. When I got there the order was ready, so that's what my 2 stars are for. What I disliked: - The food was not hot (they apparently prepared it way ahead of my pickup time) - The chicken strips were overly salty and dry. The fish (red snapper) was very dry as well. - They got my order wrong: no prawns and oysters at all in my 3-way combo. Instead I got an extra piece of dry chicken and dry fish. Woohoo! I place and order today via door dash and at first I thought the driver may have taken or forgotten the rest of the food until I saw inside the bag. I had ordered 4 3wing, mac and cheese with a coke combos with 1 lg greens, 1 lg yams and 1 peach cobbler on the side. I got 1 combo 1 yam, 1 greens and the cobbler with 2 extra wings. Door Dash refunded the money for the missing items, so that's a plus but the food that we did get was just blahs for real soul food. Dixon's can be very hit or miss depending on who's cooking, especially with their chicken. Which is a little disappointing, especially now that they've gone up on the prices. Omg I'm so in love with this place. When I first came here I got chicken and fries. Man that shit was BOMB, so I came back for chicken, fries and catfish. So today out the blue my mom says "let's go to Dixon's." I'm thinking to myself like... hell yeah! I do need to try the bbq. I ordered a 2 way chicken and ribs I couldn't even finish it. I always have food left over plus it's worth every penny... My mom got the 2 way with links and ribs. I stole some of her links and she don't know how many she is suppose to have anyway. And Yeah!! How is it no one has reviewed this hidden gem. everything is cooked fresh and in front of you. almost any sweet you can think of (cakes and cobbler). fried ribs was a first for me . we had fried chicken, little greasy, but seasoned well. the catfish was also seasoned well. the prawns were good, but would like them bigger, but for the price. just order the large portion. I just had fries although there were several sides you could order and the potato salad was complimenting to the fish as well. A little challenging to get to because of the construction, but worth it. I see they had MasterCard, and visa signs which is good to know going forward; I was scraping up cash at home just encase because there are no banks in this area. The neighborhood may be s little strong for some, but don't let that stop you, it has a comfortable feeling and the panhandlers are not allowed to engage you on the premises to bother you. I believe they had some challenging hours of friday thru Sunday which is good business sense to me, I don't believe many people could eat this type of food everyday. but still not sure. I wish I had a menu to put on here. I took away a star because we called two or three times and no one answered the phone; which made me wonder if I wasting my gas to go see if they were open. read more

in June I ordered a 3way with 5 pieces each of fish, wings and shrimp. Got home in a Santa Rosa and discovered that all the wings were burnt. I took pictures and the next I went to Dixon's in July. I ordered the same thing but requested dou the fish so we were expecting 10 pieces of fish and 5 wings. I also showed someone who said they were Mr. Dixon the pics of burnt wing. He compensated me with some cobbler which was ok but I don't really eat pie. we also ordered a separate meal for my mother in law with extra potato salad. As we drove off, we discovered that the extra potato salad was missing so we returned to get it. We spoke to the gentleman again. He got us the potato salad and another cobbler which I don't eat for the trouble. think we're all set, we go drop the food to my MIL and go home to Santa Rosa (66 miles). We get home unpack the food only to discover that we have very little fries which were greasy and soggy because of all the fish on top. also the fish was smash beca they forced it all in one bag. but we're just trying to eat now so we start plating the food on to fin out they only gave us 7 pie of fish and two of the wings were just drumettes. We called immediately and spoke to someone else (male) we asked if he was the guy we spoke to earlier and he said no. We told him issues. And he said that he would compensate me with another 3 piece fish meal and that my name would be on the wall. I said fine. asked him his name and he was Mr. Dixon (I guess everyone is Mr Dixon). Fast forward to October 16. I'm finally back in Oakland for the first time in months and decide to go and get my free three-piece meal. When I ask the lady about it she says there's no name on the wall and that it was probably too long ago. I asked her if Mr. Dixon is there and she said no so I decided to call on Monday to see if I could speak to him. The lady answered and said that she was sorry that I had gone through this but unfortunately it was too long ago and that Mr. Dixon would not be able to compensate me. As she recommended that I come back and order some thing else which is not gonna happen. It's too bad because they make pretty good chicken and fish at a reasonable price but I'd rather go somewhere where people appreciate your business and take time to give you what you requested and pay more then be treated as if I'm doing them a favor am I even come in there . I suggest you go down to King Fish on 65th and E14. You get bigger pieces and the people are pretty nice. I'm rating Dixons not good because of their attitude and because of the lack of customer service. read more
