The absolute WORST experience but it would not let me rate them lower than one star. They laid new carpet and pad right over the top of old staples and nails on our second story floor. It feels like walking on legos. Instead of remedying the situation Beau Bastian told me that as far as he was concerned, "business was done and to have a good life". Should have turned and ran when they told us that in order to begin work, that payment needed to be made in full via credit card. Seriously, RUN away. Do NOT walk. read more

RUN, do not walk if you come in contact with Dixie Carpet. In a word: Pinheads. These are some of the most inept, utterly unprofessional "service" people I've had the misfortune to encounter -- via the property management of my community. My request was for a 9 a.m. appointment two days later to have old flooring replaced. The girl who answered the business phone with a simple "Hello," prompted the caller to confirm that they had indeed reached Dixie Carpet -- what's up with that jazz?!?! And while she couldn't "promise" a 9 a.m. appointment, she said that "they would be there as soon as possible." After spending two days prepping for this installation, I was disappointed when no one arrived shortly after 9 a.m.; nor did they show at 9:15, 9:30, 9:45, or even 10 a.m. Each phone inquiry to their Austin office -- actually in Round Rock, a mere 11.4 miles north of our community -- was met with, "They'll be there in five to ten minutes." Typically, I don't drink this early in the day. By 10:15, I was asking for the manager; a kid named Chris, the-manager-with-no-last-name, returned my call at 10:25, and proceeded to dance around the installers' arrival time. However, he did volunteer that "they -- the installers -- had just finished breakfast..." That's when I launched into orbit, ended the phone conversation with Chris-the-model-of-mismanagement, and contacted the property manager for action. At approximately 10:35 a.m., two unkempt -- no uniforms to ID they were with Dixie Carpet -- Spanish-speaking guys showed up. I asked the big guy -- the one who couldn't part with his cell phone -- if they could complete this job by 2 - 3 p.m. at the latest? He mumbled something incomprehensible, so I took it as an affirmative, and directed him to move an end table into the bedroom for storage; he walked over to a 6' bookcase instead. I knew I was in trouble as it was patently clear that he nor his buddy were fluent in English. When I asked, "Habla Inglés?" he got in a huff and walked out. Well, boy howdy, if that doesn't take the cake! Bottom line: These pinheads walked off a job without regard for the customer or the property management company, whom I understand they used regularly. Since the girl who answered the Austin phone could not provide the names of the manager or even the president of the company, I will save you the trouble. My staff and I are exceptionally pleased with Dixie Carpet Installations. I work in Round Rock, TX. for an apartment complex who works with Dixie Carpet. They are always on time and very professional. Not only do they exceed our expectations but will go out of their way to finish a job last minute. We are a large apartment complex in Round Rock and would never consider doing business with anyone besides Dixie Carpet Installations. They are always going out of their way to exceed our expectations and will do anything we ask of them. We can be a pain but nevertheless they will be their to give us what we want. read more

Horrible company!! I would not recommend them to anyone! Not even my worst enemy. Lousy communication skills and people that turn to lying to cover their own butts! We were insulted by the way we were treated. Didn't follow through with things they said they would do and installed the wrong product. Too many awful things to list. RENEGED ON INSTALLATION, MAY NOT HONOR QUOTES, DISRESPECTFUL, 100% PAYMENT IN ADVANCE?! I can't communicate how disappointed we are with this company. The Dixie Salesman came out and measured and emailed us written quotes for the carpet and hardwood flooring we needed. We also had a wholesale flooring company give us another quote. While we were deciding on who to go with, the Dixie Salesman texted a message asking "where his numbers needed to be" to get the job. At that point we tried to negotiate slightly with him, but then for some strange reason he told us he could not work with us on the price even though previously via text he implied that he could. uh, ok?! A week passed due to a death in our family. We looked at everything again upon our return and decided to move forward with the Dixie quote even though our wholesale contact's quote came in lower (mostly because Dixie said they could get the job done within a week and the other company could not). We scheduled another visit for the Dixie Salesman to come back and bring the samples for us to confirm colors. For some reason, he determined he needed to requote the job even though he had already measured the job and sent us written proposals. We received his "new" hardwood quote, and it was even higher than his initial written proposal for some inexplicable reason. We felt that there may have been some gouging occurring as we were trying to quickly list our house for sale so we opted to have Dixie complete the carpet only since at this point the other hardwood quote now came in $800 less. Dixie agreed to install the carpet but the stated install date changed several times. Finally we get a text that the work will start the next week, and the Dixie Salesman asks if he can pick up a check from us. I have never paid for contractor work in advance except for partial money down on larger jobs for materials to secure the job. I texted him that I would pay 50% at job start and balance upon completion. No one recommends paying contractors in advance, and having already received relatively wishy/washy treatment from Dixie on price and scheduling...it was not exactly confidence inspiring as to when the work would actually start had we paid in advance. The Salesman proceeded to go on a completely unprovoked and insulting text message rant about how "we couldn't even pay half if we had Home Depot do the work". I have no idea where this rant was coming from as we were not even looking to Home Depot or obtained quotes from Home Depot for the work. A simple explanation of his payment terms, even if it was "take it or leave it" would have been a professional and respectful response. We didn't respond to his text right way as we were busy with getting the family out the door that morning. Within the hour the Dixie Salesman then texted that he was going to "pass on the job". We responded via text agreeing to pay upfront but the Dixie Salesman again replied that "he was going to pass". We asked why he refused the job, but he ignored our text. Maybe the installation was too advanced for this company, we really don't know, but we wasted a lot of time on this and to just have this company bail on the work in this manner was ridiculous. If the carpet margin was not worth their time without the hardwood then they should quote their jobs all or nothing if that is the case. This company could do better by avoiding text communication with prospective clients and including their 100% PAYMENT IN ADVANCE terms on their written proposals.
