If you look into reviews for HVAC companies, you'll likely find lots of one-star experiences. And I can see how that might be - HVAC work can be easy to get wrong. For our furnace replacement, I had three companies that were either personally recommended or had decent reviews come out to provide a quote. Diversified won out by having a slightly lower price and by being a bit more willing to listen to what we wanted rather than push a higher performance appliance that we didn't need. Between having their rep come out to provide a quote (which was provided that day) and completed installation, just one week elapsed. Two days of that was us waiting on getting another quote. That time included their obtaining a permit from the city. And it was just two days later that the city inspector came out and approved the install. Despite being a relatively basic model, the new furnace heats the house much more efficiently than the previous one, which struggled even when it worked. Diversified gets a fifth star because of the way they handled an issue getting the correct model installed. I had high hopes, but am very disappointed. 2 years ago we spent almost 15k on a new HVAC system. We were told the Bosch system we had was top of the line. Last year, first hot day of the year, no AC, called them, they came out within a few days, replaced the motor for free, and I was happy. Stuff happens. This year, first hot day, no AC again. Now I have to pay a service call of $120 for this lemon they sold me, and it's the motor again, shot. Now it's 2 weeks before they can fix it, and it's 100 degrees. I'm lucky if I sleep an hour a night in this heat. Their response is to shrug their shoulders and say "oh well", it's the best we can do. I understand things break, but I'm reading other reviews and it's common for this unit. I think I should get a new system, to replace the lemon they stuck me with. Garbage, don't buy from them, don't get a Bosch from anybody. read more

I have hired this company to install multiple systems over the years. They have blown it nearly every time. Failed to add refrigerant to air conditioner which required me to travel from Portland to Bend on multiple occasions so they could fix the error. In another home they billed me for installation of wireless thermostats but didn't actually install them. I just moved into a new place that was having issues with the AC working correctly. Basically when the weather would get really warm, the AC would turn on but it would struggle to keep the house cool. Before Ron showed up I had spoken with three other guys who had taken a look at what might be causing the problem. The first guy was a handyman and he ultimately thought the AC unit was too small for the size of house I'm in. The next guy figured out the Air Filter was the problem but just removed the old one and couldn't find a replacement. The last guy was another handyman and he was able to get a replacement filter but he put it in upside down (which I later learned from Ron). So when Ron showed up to hopefully get things taken care of, the guy was super friendly and truly happy to explain anything and everything that I was curious about. He explained how often you may want to change out a filter and how the smoke in our area can drastically effect when you might want to change it. He then pulled out some dirty filters he had replaced and showed what smoke vs dirt looks like and when to know visually it's time to change it. I also had some questions about my water heater system b/c it's fancier than the ones I've used in the past (a tankless system). I couldn't figure out how to get the temperature past 120 degrees and he explained how that's a safety feature (so little kids don't burn themselves). Well, armed with this new information I was able to figure out how to bump up the water temperature, thanks to Ron! Then Ron took the time to explain how the air flow system works by sucking outside air into the house. He explained how to turn it on or off, gave the history of why these things are now required to be installed and provided some advice on how to best utilize that system (for the most part, don't! lol). So he not only got everything set-up properly, but he took the time to explain it all so I understood the 'why' behind everything and ultimately was empowering to be able to do some of these things on my own if I wanted. And out of everyone I had spoked with previously, Ron did the best job of helping me understand my digital control panel for using the AC/Heat. He walked me through the differences between Fan, Auto, Cir, etc. and benefits of those. And Ron was the only one who noticed the clock was off on both of my digital control units and went ahead and took care of that as well. Then to top it all off, we got talking a bit about my gas fireplace and it came up that the flame in mine was very unimpressive. He explained that when those things aren't cleaned/maintained that the flame won't produce that nice orange color (it will just be blue). So he didn't do a full service, but just took a few minutes to go ahead and clean a few things, add a few pieces of what looked like magic pixy dust and "Voila!" it was like I had the Flame of Mordor burning in my firelplace now, pretty cool!! What impressed me most about Ron, was he seemed to not only be extremely knowledgeable about heating and cooling, but the guy genuinely came across like he enjoys helping people with these things and he's not trying to just rush through a job to get it done. He wants to make sure you're happy. So Ron not only does the job you're hiring him for but goes above and beyond while he's there. I wouldn't hesitate to give these guys a call again! read more

Until 2 days ago I would have given them a 5 star. After 6 years of pre-paying for their semi-annual maintenance program I was informed that they now require that I give them my credit card to have on file. I have always prepaid for service so why in the hell do they require my credit card? I was told it was now company policy that they have had some people not pay, that certainly had nothing to do with those of us that prepay for annual service. Not a good business model IMO, you don't piss off loyal customers or you may not have them as customers any longer. My pre-paid contract ends in October, I'm not certain I will be renewing. We got a new heat pump from them in 2022, a Bosch one they recommended to us that was supposedly very good. About two years later a principal motor in it (a fan motor, I think) broke, leaving us without A/C during a very hot spell with temps around 100°. The manufacturer's warranty covered the motor.... but not the labor to install it, which was several hundred dollars. In part this was because they did the work after 4 PM, which counted as off-hours for them and therefore significantly more expensive. I asked them for any kind of price break, particularly for the off-hours labor, because it was such a new system and they had recommended and installed it, but they wouldn't budge. They pointed out that I could have paid extra for a labor warranty, but I had trusted them to give me a reliable system and didn't think it would be needed. Mistake! read more

Diversified installed a Bosch heat pump system with Air Handler just before the recent severe COLD snap in Bend in January, 2024. The system wasn't sufficient for the type of house (size, windows, high ceiling) that this system was planned to handle. We called and relayed our concerns and they quickly came out and installed a more compatible system for our house's heating needs with no extra charge. We now have the right system. Their response to our needs was extremely professional and FAST. David and the installation team were knowledgeable, efficient and very pleasant to work with. Due to this response and follow-up we are definitely going to rely on them to perform all of our heating and cooling needs. Two years ago, Diversified Heating installed 13 kumo cloud devices on our mini-splits. We had a network change and all units were dropped from kumo cloud system and we could not operate heating or cooling throughout the facility. We called Diversified 4x's over a month to get them to come help us get our system back online. Each time we called we were told "they were denying our service request and someone would call us or send an email about it". I *never* received a phone call or email about why service was refused. The fourth time I called (since continuity of install is best), I was sent to the dispatcher who told me their Service Manager Don explicitly wouldn't send someone out, and the reason why is because I wouldn't sign a filter cleaning service contract with them over a year ago. WHY DOES THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH A REPAIR REQUEST?? This is an unprofessional and vindictive move. I had no idea that a filter maintenance quote would have anything to do with a repair request and it SHOULDN'T. This outfit would rather let a former client and its staff freeze during the teens temperature, then send someone out and provide a service. ZERO MORALS and ETHICS. Who does this??? I have requested calls from the managers and owners and they have yet to reach out and explain their ridiculous position. My house also needs a new heat pump and furnace which I was going to ask Diversified to install but they are not getting my business after the way I was treated. read more

Diversified did the installation for the builder in my new home back in Spring 2014. By builder's choice, lowest quality everything. Winter 2014 had Diversified come out and install a blower for the gas fireplace; it was better than nothing & because the builder chose the lowest quality fireplace we had no options for a "better" blower. Prompt service, friendly, professional staff, & competitive pricing for that service. However, with regards to maintenance services, the prices are high. There are no discounts. The service man Duane was great. There communication with me and timely making appts. was also impressive. The low score is a result of the "flat rate"/"book rate" thing they do....The service call and the service itself both were less than 60 minutes combined. The part cost around $100. a fair price including profit would be around $300. The flat rate charge was over $600. I requested a break-down of charges; call-out fee, labor plus parts. The response was the corporate line about how they charge a flat rate/book fee for their service. I don't mind paying a fair price for repairs. I don't like feeling like I've been gouged. read more

One company actually CHARGED me $300 for an energy "audit" which was just an inspection and estimate I paid for. The unit from Diversified was well-priced, well-installed (they had to do some extra work in my old house to bring electricity to the unit, without increased charges), and Dwayne, the technician who installed the unit, was thorough, respectful, and returned the next day to remove my baseboard heaters. I called them about a faulty piece that was installed by them on my AC unit still under warranty and all the snotty receptionist said was that they charge a $90 diagnostic fee and any labor on top of that for the installation...even though I had in my hands a dianostic from a reputable technician. Honest, prompt HVAC work! I've used Diversified to perform an annual check on the HVAC system in my house. The service tech shows up on time and does the work well and quickly. What spurred me to post is what happened this year. Several hours after the tech left, I realized that the a/c was running full time and could not be shut off. So I called the office, because I thought it might have occurred during the service call. The same tech showed up within an hour, bringing another tech. After more than an hour of working on the problem, they traced it to my Nest thermostat. They were ready to replace it on the spot, but I wanted to replace the Nest with another Nest, and they didn't stock those. I installed a new Nest that day, and all was fine. So, Diversified spent over an hour of two people's time and didn't charge me for it! read more

Good sales pitches and lots of up front "feel good" conversation but seriously questionable business practice and even more questionable whether they'll actually stand by their product and workmanship. I ordered Diversified to check up on my Fireplace. It didn't ignite, all that was needed was a simple cleaning. They did a great job getting it to work again. No complaints there. My only gripe is that I got quoted $80 for coming out including the first hour of service. They finished the job quickly within 30 minutes and I got still charged an additional $35 for 'Fireplace service'. read more

My gas fireplace would not stay lit. I called diversified. They sent a repairman out for a diagnostic check at a cost of $90. He cleaned the pilot but immediately after he left the flame went out again. He came back and cleaned it again but it still did not work. They said I needed new parts. They ordered the parts and for a cost of $376.00 they came out again and installed the new parts. Immediately after they left it went out again. They came back again but could not figure out the problem. They left and the next week they said I needed a new gas assembly and it would cost another $455.00. I can't afford it. I already spent $466.00 and got nothing for it as my fireplace doesn't work. I could have bought a whole new fireplace. There is nothing I can do. While they were friendly and pleasant, I still feel like I got ripped off. There is no guarantee that if I paid them the additional $455 it would have fixed the problem and they would come back and ask for more. I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income.
