We had another plumber come out to repair a leaking bath faucet and was told it wasn't repairable. We called Dave at Renew and he had me send pics of the problem so he could review what needed to be done before he came the next day. He also diagnosed our Kohler kitchen sink and replaced a cartridge for us. In addition he said to call Kohler for another part that they will send for free rather than us paying him to do it. I cannot begin to describe what a godsend Dave and his company, Renew Plumbing, were for us. We were away from town for months but received a $500 water bill in the middle of winter with the house water turned off! We clearly had a huge leak somewhere on our 1.5 acre property. As soon as we returned home, we tried to find the leak ourselves, which was calculated at 10,000 gallons a day! You would think that would be pretty obvious. But it wasn't at all. That water was probably falling into a lava tube or something and we gave up the search. We were given a reference to Dave at Renew Plumbing and he picked up the phone himself and had somebody at our house within 40 minutes. Within 90 minutes of that, using specialized equipment to trace the water line and then to inject it with hydrogen gas, they were able to pinpoint the location of the leak extremely accurately, even though it was 4 feet underground. The next morning, in a freezing snow storm, they were back to dig up our frozen ground and fix it permanently. I have never had such foul-weather service from anyone. This company is one of only a few. locally with the specialized equipment needed for a deep underground leak and so they have a great deal of experience with this problem. But the responsiveness, friendliness, and fair pricing were a real surprise. We thought we would be without water for days or weeks and in less than 24 hours, all was repaired. I found water around the base of my water heater. I live in a newly-built home, so this was alarming. I called Renew Plumbing -- Dave Schmidt (541) 480-9450, who showed up the next day. It turns out that the leakage from a failing overflow tank rather than from the water heater itself. It is unusual for one to fail so soon after installation. Until today, I didn't know how an overflow tank worked. Apparently, they are supposed to be calibrated at a certain pressure level. It is possible that ours was either improperly-calibrated or not calibrated at all at installation. They checked my house water pressure (75PSI--normal), replaced the overflow tank, calibrated it, and replaced the pressure release valve. Cost: $239. I would highly recommend this plumber: friendly, professional, and fast! read more

The pressure tank for my hot water system sprung a pinhole leak. The system was 16 years old, so, while I wanted the leak repaired in the meantime, it was time to investigate a replacement. My water heater started leaking in the wee hours of the morning and I was completely stressed out. Re-new plumbing called me back right away in the morning and arrived nice and early. They came in and capped off the valve that was leaking because it was just the drain valve, and didn't even charge me since it was a super quick and super easy fix. Super nice and super courteous. I would 100% call them again when needed, and recommend them to a friend. They also gave me an idea for creating a better access panel for my water heater as the current access is very tight and it would be impossible to replace it from that angle....But they also made it clear that it didn't need replacing and they want to keep these things running as long as possible and do smaller more affordable fixes first. read more

I called Dave to get a second opinion on a sewer line issue we were having on a second home. Dave took the time to check out the issue and gave me his professional advice. His advice ended up saving me thousands of dollars. The sewer line to the home had tree roots infiltrating it and had caused a back up... The area of concern needed to be dug up and replaced (under the asphalt drive). Dave's advice was to contact the utility company. He noticed that the area of concern was close to the city sewer connection and might be their issue. He was right. I've dealt with a lot of contractors and trade professionals in my life, and I can't recall of a past experience where anyone had given me advise that would save me money... Until now. I would not recommend this company, very unprofessional and inexperienced. Renew plumbing recently visited our home to address two issues: leaking washroom sink and noises coming from pipes. After paying almost $300 for the repairs both issues were NOT repaired. The first time I went to use the washroom sink water leaked everywhere. Really?? They didn't even turn on the sink and let the water run to see if the problem was fixed. Josh did come out to fix the leaking sink..... for a second time. We told him we continued to hear noises from our pipes and he said to record the problem and send it to him. We did this and later discussed with him what the problem might be. He said he had an idea but wasn't sure. I contacted the owner and he said he wasn't sure either. He said they could continue to GUESS what the problem is and we would have to pay for repairs as we go. I am shocked he wanted us to pay for more repairs with no guarantee it would fix our problem AND would not give me a quote for further repairs. No way!!! We will seek help elsewhere read more
