We spent about an hour at Divers Direct Orlando, and it was time very well spent. Walter (Walt) was incredible helping my mom find a properly fitting mask. She has a very petite face and has struggled for years to find one that actually works. Walt was so patient and walked her through everything step by step. He also helped her find basic swim gear, including a shorty wetsuit that fit correctly without leaking. While he was working with her, I explored the massive store and picked up fins, booties, and a full-length wetsuit. I love that they have so much inventory. You can really take your time trying different options and finding what fits best. I was able to compare fins with different bootie lengths and try on wetsuits that were actually sized correctly. Huge shoutout as well to the general manager Rachael and assistant manager Loren for their patience during checkout. My mom was able to drive her gear home, but I was flying back to Virginia the next day and stressing about packing everything. They reminded me about the free shipping over a certain amount, which was an epic stress reliever. Overall, I absolutely love this store. I wish we had something like it where I live. I was only looking for some snorkeling fins, and it was very easy to navigate the store and find the area where they had a variety of fins in different colors and price ranges from $40-110 adult fins and slightly less for kids fins. Ladies, the fins are sized for men unfortunately, so pick the size that is about 1.5 sizes lower than what you usually wear, based on advice I got from a staff member. Sure enough, as someone who normally wears a women's 11, the size 9-10 fins fit perfectly, and I didn't even bother trying any other sizes. There were plenty of fins for a variety of sizes available, and prices were competitive, reasonable, and accurate compared to their website. The staff member at the register was able to apply the 10% off welcome offer to my order, so I walked away with brand new fins for less than $40! Overall a very smooth process! read more

I came to service a regulator that was quite old. Paid over $180 for the servicing. I was unsure of how long it had been since the last time it was serviced. I know that with being old there can be issues that pop up. One thing I ended up concerned with is that the day after I had picked up my regulator with stage 1 and 2, the hose to my dive computer busted with in a second of turning my cylinder open. It showed a perfect slit right in the hose. Along with a seperate hose that had been put on that had electrical tape on it... I had taken it back up to the shop and was told oh it was fine when we tested it and twisted and bent the hoses but they're old... but yest the roped covers werent taken off, the electrical tape was not taken off to see possibly why it was there..If so old why wasn't changing the hoses a suggestion.. give this to you to because you're under the professionals to make sure this equipment is where it needs to be... especially being underwater i should trust that nothing is going to happen. What if the hose busted while 80 ft down this passed weekend getting my advanced cert? Granted its not impossible but still considering the age.This is my first time owning gear and want to make sure I'm doing what i need to the correct way and learning along with it. I just get told oh it old I did all I can do but you can buy the hoses now to replace the pressure hose... I totally understand but now its more of a trust situtation. I would have felt a lot better if that would have been suggested to me from the start but now I'm hesitant to do so... which sucks.. other than that the staff is nice just was not the best first encounter for me. And now I've heard from other divers and shops that its not the best to get serviced at and I see why :( read more

I signed up for a refresher course with Emmanuel. We went today to Alexander Springs. Emmanuel was a great instructor! Before we got into the water we reviewed how to assemble the gear on land, he demonstrated and then had me put it together myself. We also went through the drills we would be doing in the water on land first. Gave me a chance to run through it and ask questions. Told me over the phone they would fill non breathing air for rifles, when we got there we were told we had to get Dive certified. If staff is so knowledgeable why don't they know about plumbing filling for tanks. Once again I get a response from someone who didn't read the actual review. My tanks are for non-breathing air to fill air rifles. Why in the world would I need to be scuba training to shoot air rifles? And it took about a year to get a response. read more

It's very scary going to a store when you don't know a lot about a hoby you are starting. Divers Direct is a great place. A big shout out to Walter. I had to buy basic gear for the PADI class and he really knew his stuff. It was more like a helpful relative than a salesperson. By the time we were done, I was hoping that they would invite me to one of their dive trips. He told me the dive trips were all inclusive. My wife is very cheap (it's a compliment) and critical when I spend a lot of money. She was very happy with everything Walter had recommended and I bought. He even went the extra mile to address some health issues I have. When my wife (who does not dive) found out the trips were all inclusive (including booze) she was excited to hear more about them. I found this scuba store on yelp and I have to say do t believe the not so good reviews! My wife and kids went in looking for snorkels and a mask for myself. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door but two sales staff. Walt is the salesperson person that helped us and he was awesome! He explained to us in detail about what snorkels that we would like. The only thing when it comes to this type of equipment and remember this! How does it work for you and how does it fit you! That is the hardest part that no salesmen can help you with. With Walt he was great because he didn't try and sell us the most expensive equipment and he actually held us back on a few items. Well...my husband is nearly a master diver and the manager at this location kept talking to him like he didn't even know how to swim. My hubby needed new equipment and my husband was forcing me to buy snorkel gear and we chose Divers Direct to do our shopping...We had our arms full of BCs, fins, masks, belts, you name it...about $3K in merch and the manager just kept making assumptions without even letting us talk. So, we left it all there and went to Scuba World...where they are absolute pros! We paid a few dollars more, but the expertise and service was worth it. We went during our recent Orlando trip in order to purchase masks and snorkels for our next Hawaii trip. Normally people would just rent equipment in Hawaii or buy it there. But I am a nervous snorkeler and felt that I really needed to have my equipment with me so I could practice diving and clearing the snorkel in the pool and in our hot tub so I can feel more comfortable in the ocean. The store was huge and had a great variety of diving essentials. However, they were missing a few brands... Scubapro, Oceanic, and Bare were a few brands that they didn't seem to carry. Evo was their "house" brand and I ended up buying a pair of their tropical diving gloves, used them on a diving trip the next day and was very surprised by the great quality and fit. They have a lot of Aqualung products, especially BCD's. They also carry a large supply of masks, fins, and wetsuits appropriate for anything from temperate to cold water. read more

Please read! I cannot express enough gratitude to these people! I went to this Dive Shop for my SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Certification- their pricing was the best in the area. The staff was able to schedule me a class within two days. I completed my course and felt confident with my dive instructor, Manny. After completion of the dive course, I spoke to Manny about my upcoming dive trip. Manny was nervous about my upcoming dive because of my inexperience. Manny was worried I might not be ready for what I was about to undertake. Manny immediately, without hesitation, told me he was taking me on a dive the next morning - free of cost. He asked me for my shoe size, wetsuit size, and told me to meet him at Lake Denton in the morning. Manny woke up extremely early, brought/organized all of the equipment, drove two and a half hours out, and gave me private lessons. We analyzed tanks, spoke about dive theory, went over all skills and equipment, and finally went on a dive together. In the water, he was a true professional. He ran me through all skills and then took me all through Lake Denton. It was a blast! I learned a ton, and was infinitely more confident in my diving abilities as a result. He never once asked for payment or anything in return. He was genuinely just trying to help a fellow diver stay safe. I can't imagine a better experience. Manny is a good man, and I can't recommend him enough. This will be my dive shop for the rest of my life, and I can't wait to take more classes here. read more

Came in here with the husband while he did a little shopping for some new gear. And I was blown away with the selection of diving gear that they had in stock. The store itself is well organized and staffed really well. The staff was able to answer all my husbands questions and even helped him pick out the new stuff that he needed. When we were checking out they even asked if I would like to become certified to dive so my husband would always have a dive buddy. I said I'd think about it. But it was nice to know that they offered classes in certification too. Just tried to do an air fill there and the employee proceeded to empty my tank and told me because he emptied the tank it now needs a vip. The tank had pressure before he opened the valve and bled the tank. Huge waste of time, should've listened to the local dive shops that warned me. read more
