We've been to Dive Bar a half dozen times in the 18 months that we've lived in Florida. It is always fun. I'm still impressed with their safety precautions - tables and chairs are well spaced and always thoroughly cleaned after each group leaves. Everything about the bar offerings is fine; lots of beer choices, a good selection of wines and a full bar for drinks. The menu is substantial for a "dive bar." The food preparation is a bit inconsistent. Today, the shrimp po' boy was perfect, the shrimp fresh and crispy, just enough remoulade, crispy lettuce and a toasted hot dog bun. Last time I ordered it though, the shrimp had a bit more of a fishy flavor. The french fries were golden and crisp - obviously freshly fried. The shrimp and romaine salad was excellent - with plenty of perfectly grilled shrimp dressed with a nice balsamic vinaigrette. My go to dish is the snapper ban mei sandwich It's always crisp and fresh. Their crab chowder and conch chowder are always rich and flavorful. The fried calamari is inconsistent. My only real problem is the poor cutting of the sushi. It is typically cut haphazardly, but the fish is always fresh. Overall, its a fun venue with a broad menu and friendly service. read more

My wife and I stopped by for dinner. There was no wait for a table in the bar area. We found a high top, sat down and the waitress, took our drink order. I ordered a draft "Der Chancellor" and the wife ordered a house Chardonnay. 10 minutes later the waitress arrives with the beer and a house Cabernet. She put the drinks down and went off to the next table. Strike one! We managed to get her attention and let her know that she brought the wrong wine. She brings the correct wine few minutes later. We placed our food order. My wife orders the fish tacos with coleslaw and I order the Hogfish Rachel with coleslaw. The order arrives about 20 minutes later. My wife received the fish tacos, but with rice instead of coleslaw. I received an entirely different meal that I didn't order. Strike two! All the food went back and about 15 minutes later, the correct order comes out. Our food was delicious! After the meal, I ordered a Basil Hayden bourbon which was priced at $16 on the drink menu. It arrived in about 10 minutes. It was loaded with ice chips instead of a bourbon ball or "gentlemens" cube, which made it taste watered down. I took out most of the ice which reduced the liquid volume in the glass to less than half. We got our check and noticed that we were charged $18 for the Basil Hayden bourbon. We got a hold of the waitress and asked for an explanation. She said she would have to go talk with her Manager. Upon her return, she told us that we were charged an additional $2 because the bourbon drink was a "rock pour" which means they add more ice and add additional bourbon and charge you $2 above the list price. Of course that caveat is explained "nowhere" on the drink menu! Now it became a matter of principle. We pushed back on the explanation and she went to get her Manager. The Manager arrived shortly there after. We explained our situation from the very beginning starting with the wrong wine being delivered to the table. We discussed the bourbon "rock pour" and he went on to reiterate the same thing the waitress said. I told him that this "rock pour" thing isn't an asterisk somewhere on the drink menu. He took the check and said he would see what he could do about the charge. At that point, a good Manager should've just said; "no problem, $16 it is." But instead, he disappeared for another 10 minutes or so. Don't know if he went to call the owner or what he was doing. He ended up taking the $2 additional charge off the check but good God, really! Strike three! It'll may be a long while before we go back there again. read more

Although the setting is lovely, our overall dining experience was disappointing. My husband and I ordered drinks, a tuna poke appetizer to share, the fish tacos, and w fish sandwich. Our drinks arrived promptly, after a long wait a server arrived with our mains. We had never received the tuna appetizer. The piece of fish on my sandwich was so small it took up leas than half of bottom piece to the roll. The accompanying rice was cool and dry resulting in very little flavor. First of all, the place doesn't take reservations in the rain. We arrived at 630 for a party of 5, waited over an hour. We were told 20-25 minutes so our party was getting frustrated. The staff finally sat us at a high top table. We started with a dozen oysters, the waitress had no idea anything about the flavor profiles/descriptions of the different kind of oysters. The ones we ordered were grey whites, not bad but pretty salty. The ambiance of the place was pretty lacking, looked like it was due for some major updates. Fish tanks were cool, but also could use some more attention. All but one of the sushi rolls were fried, so my mom and I ordered the Bahama roll, a sushi roll topped with a spicy conch salad - I mean what is that presentation?? The other thing we split was the ahi tower, marketed as an appetizer, but tasted very fresh and was an ample size for us to split for our meal. Would not recommend this place. read more

The menu is extensive and offers many options depending on your mood, however very seafood forward. The lobster roll is a Heck yeah! For $28 I've never got so much lobster on a roll and it tasted good. I don't regret a penny! The fries were cooked to perfection. The double down 11 sushi roll was delicious. You truly get a bang for your buck at this place. The watermelon margarita was my favorite drink. Amanda was my server and she was such a sweetheart. Went for a late lunch the other day, and the appetizer and entree were really small portions; severely skimped. We ordered the oysters Rockefeller, and it was like $20 for 5 oysters; 3 large oysters, and 2 half sized ones. We thought nothing of it at first bc they were oysters, but then the entree of the black and bleu mahi sandwich was really small too. The fish was exactly two fingers wide (pointer finger/middle finger), looked like 3-4 ounces, just very small. For $20, I'd never order it again. I always order only sushi and/or sashimi here: they have a big selection to choose from, and both the quality and the presentation of the food are very good. The service, however, can be a little bit slow: something to keep in mind if your lunch break doesn't have a flexible time. There is plenty of parking, and it's free. I ordered a dirty martini, and the bill was $11 per martini...when I questioned the charge, I was told a martini is an "upcharge" and ordering it "dirty" was an upcharge, I asked , a $6 upcharge? and apparently that is the case...ok , so i realize that a dirty martini might not be $5, but TELL ME UP FRONT. so my bill with a $10 app and two martinis is $40 with the tip will not be a shock.......the tip would have been better if the server gave me the right info up front and I would have been alot happier with two vodka and sodas....and a $10 app at $20 plus tip. We haven't been to this restaurant in years and We were so impressed with EVERYTHING! From the greeting at the door and the friendly staff all around us. We sat at the bar with a big group and our bartenders Kayla and Chris were above and beyond helpful from being able to recommend the perfect drink and helping a vegetarian make the best choice! I was the only vegetarian the other 5 people ate so many different things from the menu and they were thrilled! My spring rolls were perfectly cooked as an appetizer and it was the best fresh mozzarella I ever had in my entire life with my tomatoes. We can't wait go go back! read more

We ordered the miso soup, California roll, Sunumono, Kanisu and half a dozen oysters. We also ordered our kid the bow tie pasta. Everything was incredible. FANTASTIC sushi happy hour. We love coming here for happy hour because the sushi is so fresh and very cheap. If you don't come at happy hour the rest of the menu is pretty expensive. That's why it's so important to come for happy hour. They do not have much seating inside but outside they have a lot. There is a great view of the marina and sunset so I definitely recommend sitting outside. Rocky Manhattan roll - if you do like sushi and want a special roll this is your go to. It is so amazing and the flavors blend together so well. It is pricey but worth it. Kamikaze roll - would recommend skipping this if you go. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Especially for the price I would skip next time. Tuna tower - and expensive appetizer but perfect if you are on a date for two. Flavor is great and the layers are perfectly distributed. If there at happy hour, just get seaweed salad and edamame. It's cheap and great flavor. They have a fried hogfish sandwich. Where if you do not like sushi but want fish, this tastes great. Lightly battered and not greasy at all. Worth it. Super clean and great staff. You can ask anyone for something and they run and get it. After you can enjoy walking the marina and looking at all the yachts. It's one of my favorite places to go to for dinner! read more

Beautiful location on the water. The food was really amazing. I had the blackened mahi tacos that were so good and I eat a lot of mahi tacos. Trust me these are great. My wife had the seafood pasta wow what an amazing huge dish. Kaitlyn was a great server. She had so much knowledge of the menu and was very attentive to our needs . It was Sat night and I was not in my neck of the woods, finding this place was just using Yelp. The wait was the question. Turned out to be find. We hopped on a couple of bar stools first. They have a very cool, mesmerizing round tubular aquarium at the center of the bar. It elevated the bar to another level. As I looked around, I noticed almost everyone ordered sushi rolls here. But, I was not in the mood for that. So, an oyster po' boy it was. Lots of fried oysters, but roll was open faced, it couldn't close. So, I ate oysters and fries. Service was good. My visit started with a friendly greeting from my server. I had no complaints with them. Over time, my observations became more and more disturbing. First, I watched cold crab meat being prepared by a staff member wearing no gloves, drinking a soda and checking her phone the entire time. Second, I watched a tall white male with facial hair in the kitchen enjoy nibbling on food with his gloves on in between meal prep and then going to the bathroom and returning to resume his order. With the gloves still on! Lastly, I watched the sushi girl enjoy a basket of fries with her gloves on while using her phone, only to return with the same gloves to prepare 4 rolls and beyond!!!! A fellow patron sat and observed the same while making a complaint to our server together. We declined to have management over but expressed our total disgust. While this is a beautiful location, no attention to hygiene or proper food handling is practiced. When you ask for a "dive bar", you don't ask for staff that intentionally disregards the safety of their customers. It almost seemed deliberate and out of spite. They should hire staff that is a bit more passionate about the work they do. read more
