    Custom drink Marcus made me!

My experience at Divani was amazing. Very cute vibe when we came it. We had a reservation so our table was ready with water when we arrived. The bar tender Marcus was AMAZING, the bar menu was super unique and Marcus even made me some custom drinks. I had calamari, Caesar salad and shrimp bisque. Others in my party had lasagna, pork shank and and a burger. Everyone agreed the food was fantastic. We also had the bourbon peach foster and OMG just get it. Zero regrets. Can't wait to come back.

The ambience was fantastic. We shared the risotto and had mock tails. My drink had glitter in it. The prices seem reasonable.

What a great spot! It was smaller than we expected so we were very glad we made reservations. It's such a vibe once you walk in, dim and moody, perfect place for a date night! The cocktails were the stars for us. Mark spoke to us as if we were buddies and asked what we liked to make drinks specifically for us. We had 2 curated cocktails each then shots and would do it again! The flavors and freshness of the cocktails were unlike any other place in Grand Rapids. We loved our entrees; the risotto and lasagne were both amazing however the calamari was just ok, it lacked flavor but the dipping marinara helped with the taste. The portion sizes for the meals were perfect dinner portions and the flavors were delicious; not sure if everything is made fresh from stretch but it sure taste as if it was. This is a perfect place for food or drinks or both, we will return!

An amazing dinner is all I have to say. We made a quick weekend trip to Grand Rapids to see Hamilton recently. Our tickets were for the matinee, which I prefer as I then can enjoy a nice leisurely dinner afterwards. I knew it would be tough finding a nice restaurant near DeVos with Hamilton in town, but we lucked out with using OpenTable to book a table for two at Divani. It was an easy walk through the skywalks from DeVos to VanAndel where we exited. We asked a ticket scalper who was trying to sell extra tickets to the hockey game to point us in the direction of Ionia St.. The restaurant basically sits behind the VanAndel Center. Walking in I knew immediately I made the best decision. Divani is in an old building beautifully restored and decorated. We were seated immediately, which I'm glad we made reservations as the couple ahead of us were told it would be 45 minutes before they could be seated. Our waiter was spot on. Our glasses of wine were brought out quickly and he was very knowledgeable on the menu. The menu is not large, but that is fine with me. I knew I wanted the Scottish Salmon the moment our waiter said it was the dinner special. I was in heaven with my first bite. D had their lasagna, which he said was delicious. What an incredible restaurant and dining experience that made our weekend in Grand Rapids extra special.

My favorite thing about Divani is the ambiance! If you're looking for a low key, quiet classy place, please check them out. The minute you walk in, you forget you're in GR, at least I did! The light fixtures and design are modern and swanky. I especially loved the bar and the open wine cellar look. There were a few spots for a nice dinner for two, which seemed very cozy and romantic. For those of you who are brave enough to go out to dinner on Valentines day, Divani would be a great choice. I went with a few friends and I sampled : Bone Marrow- Served with toasted baguette and a salty, garlic/horse radish side that was a little overpowering for me. Maybe I over did it, but when I topped my bone marrow with it, well it punched me in the face. It wasn't a bad flavor, you just need to go easy. The bone marrow was rich and tasty. Lasagna- Huge portion! If you're not a heavy carb eater like moi, you can share this and easily feel satisfied. You'll enjoy the multiple layers of marinara & spicy sausage. It was very cheesy and very good. I stole a few bites from my friend, I had to control myself lol. Korean BBQ Ribs- Delicious! Perfectly executed flavors and textures here. The ribs were fall off the bone, rich and chard all at the same time. I especially enjoyed the play on textures/temperatures with this entree. The ribs are served hot, but then you have cold noodles and ginger....but then you have a warm, huge, slice of corn bread. The corn bread was buttery and crumbly. I enjoyed this very much. We also had a few cocktails. I had a glass of Argento Malbec ($9) and the Corpse Reviver ($12). Yes, both pricey but typical upscale price range, given the quality. I really enjoyed the service and the vibe. I'll definitely be back. SYOY!

A few girlfriends and I went on Saturday night for a "going away" dinner. We made reservations ahead of time. Honestly, everything was amazing!!!!! From the service to the food, I highly recommend this restaurant. I forgot my mask in my car, was wearing heels, and had parked far. The host at the front offered me one so I wouldn't have to walk all the way back. That was so sweet of her! Our server gave us the best experience. She was so kind and I wish I could remember her name. All the employees were so down to earth and our bartender Marcus made us such cool drinks. I highly recommend you try this restaurant when you're in GR. They're currently only open on weekends due to Covid but make your reservations ahead of time!

    Divani Burger

The service at the place was amazing! The waiter and hostess were lovely. The only negative thing I would say is that I got the Divani Burger with fries and both were salty. The fries were more salty than the burger but just something to keep in mind if you want the burger. My boyfriend got the blackened Salmon and that was quite divine. The vegetables on the plate with it were spicy but very delicious. Presentation of the food was great. It came out and looked so good. My eyes ate more than my stomach could. If you are looking for low lighting this is the place for you. I can see everything pretty well but there are about 4 overhead lights in the whole place.

I looked on City Built's website to see the menu before going there (of course) and found out that Los Mariscos De Pancho is now serving their food here which was a nice surprise since I have tried them at their Leonard location a few years back and enjoyed their food! I wish I could've tried some of the food that City Built had before since i had heard good things in the past but loved the combination of both City Built and Los Mariscos De Pancho! While browsing their website, I also found out that there would be open mic night on Thursdays and live music/ concerts on Monday nights which is always fun! We sat at the bar and we were pretty close to the musicians so it was kinda loud but my friend and I were still able to have our conversation. We came on a Thursday night around 6:30pm and it was already a steady amount of people there but as the night progressed the restaurant was more busy. Street parking wasn't too hard to find at this time or maybe we just got lucky.I believe the meters are free after 7pm! Walking in, there's bar seating, booth seating, high top table, coffee table seating, and bench style seating where you can sit yourself. There are 2 different entrances and in front of the main one there's patio seating! We opted to sit at the bar this time since most of the booths were full and it just happened to work out that way. We started off with drinks an alcoholic and non alcoholic version of the Agua De Jamaica and an order of the Garlic Butter Mussels. The my NA Agua De Jamaica was refreshing and much needed for the hot day. The mussels come in a serving of 6 or 12 and next time I would definitely order 12 right off the bat because we ended up ordering another round LOL. The sauce was so good I could drink it. The cucumbers were a nice refreshment/ palate cleanser from all that garlicky, buttery goodness. Just writing this review makes me want more right now! I also thought the mussels were a good size too so I will definitely be ordering those again. We also both ordered the Birria Ramen which came with Texas toast which I've never seen before. The portion size of the ramen was very filling since I was stuffed before our 2nd round of mussels came out (which took longer than anticipated to come out since we had to check to see if the order was put in). I also ordered the Birria Plate (4 birria tacos & consume) to go for my husband, which I should've ordered a bit earlier because of how long the mussels took. In the meantime, my friend wanted an expresso martini which they don't normally serve, but our amazing bartender made his own version with what he had and gave us both a cup to try. I don't even drink expresso martinis like that but the drink he made was delicious! I also heard that they have great beers too but I can't speak to that since I drink beers like that. Overall loved the vibes in here. They had different entertainment options like the live music and a few different board games to pick from. The ambiance had lots of natural light, and cute string lights, and overall a nice place to have dinner and drinks! Service was a bit on the slower side, maybe for this particular day, but everyone we interacted with was very friendly.
