I should start by stating that this is only the second time, in 4 years that I've written a negative yelp review. I wish I'd had the experience of others who enthusiastically recommend this place; how the experience I had was the polar opposite. :( I will give you the detailed version: Upon stepping in on Friday, July 1st at approximately 6:30pm, I was AWED by the BEAUTY of this salon! This was one of the most gorgeous nail spas I've been to (and I'm from Chicago). However, as I stood there for a second, a woman across the length of the salon YELLED to ask me what would I like. I couldn't even focus on who was calling me as everyone was on the opposite side of the room. In an unfocused manner, I asked for a mani/pedi. Then she emerges as she finally comes (only) halfway across the room and told me to pick out a lotion. I do it and I wait. She then tells me to to go to the back. I meet a really nice pedicurist. Then another woman comes to ask me if she can do my mani at the same time. Uhhhh I wanted a spa experience, but ok to the rushing. I then remembered reading on yelp that they customarily ask customers if they'd like a complimentary beverage. I had to ask for one. The manicurist brings me back a sprite with no cup, no ice, not even a STRAW. DIDN'T EVEN OPEN THE CAN FOR ME...she's doing my nails. Guess I can't drink. I rationalized that maybe if I told them I was a new customer, they'd want to make a better impression. NO. After haphazardly filing my nails, I ask her to redo some so they don't look like Gumby's head. She does. No cuticle was pushed back or removed. She asks me to pay at this time, after the filing. I leave a tip thinking I'd get better service ( I REALLY wanted to like this place..sniffle sniffle). NO. I got yellow polish. You can see uneven applications even more clearly with light colors. Yeahhhh that's what they look like now; uneven in filing, uneven in coats. The pedicurist, although I could barely feel her scrubbing or massaging my feet, really did attempt to put the coats on right after noticing my disapproval of my mani. It took her three coats plus a top coat. Her customer service was right at the time, but unfortunately, her skill wasn't the best. Here's the killer: after my nails were haphazardly painted, both women LEAVE me in the chair and proceed to help other customers! They didn't take me to the fans. They said NOTHING. I had to cry out to the shop, after about TEN MINUTES, if I could go to the fans. A man replied, "if you like." WTF??!! There was no visible or audio beef between me and the crew prior but this started it. I snapped, "well I didn't know". I quietly lifted myself out of the seat, got my purse myself, left my drink, went to the fans, turned them on myself...not because I wanted to, but because no one helped me. This was a first of my lifetime. Now I complain to the manager and he apologized but said that sometimes customers want to stay in the seat. I told him I should have been given an option... someone else would have probably sounded off by theis point. As usual, I'm under the fan and no one checks on me. Finally, I take the wedges from between my toes, turn off the fan and reach for the dry enamel spray. It was completely empty. I get in the car and realize that not only are my cuticles rough (manicurist didn't even TRY to do them...as in the cuticle tool never touched a finger of mine) still on my nails, there's topcoat on my fingers and there are two baby hairs stuck in my polish on my index fingers. Its the Fourth of July weekend but I guess my anger will be more than any fireworks display could do. I needed a night and a morning to cool down enough to write this post. I may contact the Better Business Bureau as well. I feel cheated and bamboozled. I will not come here again or tell my plethora of friends to come here either. ....oh and i forgot: the price was $38 before tip for STUDENTS... I didn't see a price list though; that was told to me. Maybe I missed it...but eh I wouldn't be shocked if it wasn't there. ...oh and one more thing: if you think I'm lying, I have a pic of the manicure, taken yesterday, on my facebook page. Pictures say a thousand words:) To end on a positive note, I do hope that they rectify this because with better customer service and quality techs, this place would be top notch! I've been frequenting this salon for the past few months. I'd taken off my overlay and shot for shellac instead. Every two weeks, usually a Friday I am there after work. While they are usually busy, that's a pretty good sign that they are pretty good. They have LOTS of shellac selections and that's really the main reason. I noticed today while getting a pedicure that two white women were greeted very kindly, had their coats removed and were asked if they'd like a beverage. Out of the 4 months that I've visited I've NEVER been offered a beverage. Today, I couldn't decide on a color. About 30 seconds into looking my nail tech pat me roughly on the back and asked if I was ready ... Clearly I wasn't. After maybe a minute later she asked again. I quickly grabbed something I didn't want and proceeded to the pedicure chair. I changed my mind again she huffed and told me to pick my color. I did. She rushed through my pedicure. Rushed through my manicure and because she was so engaged in conversation with her neighbor she also forgot the glitter I requested. I'm am not happy with the customer service but I'm happy with the job they do. I'm now searching for a spa that will honor a standing appointment that will realize that IM PAYING for a service. I had a mani/pedi here the other day before I went to my best friend's wedding in town. Since I no longer live in Ann Arbor, I wasn't sure about the best nail salon in town, so I consulted the trustworthy Yelp, and they didn't disappoint. The folks at Diva Nail Spa are pros, no question about it. I had a nice young man do my nails. He didn't speak a ton of English (he is from Vietnam - I believe most of the employees at Diva Nail Spa are) but he was very nice and did an excellent job. The selection of nail polish colors is quite impressive. And if you're having a shellac job (which I was for the mani) there is quite a decent selection of colors for that as well as compared to other salons. I quickly found colors that I loved. You also get to pick which lotion you want them to use if you're having the "deluxe" treatment, which is a nice touch. There are massage chairs if your'e having a pedicure (a bit too intense for me - but it was nice to have the option!) and you have your own remote control for the chair's settings. I would suggest bringing a book or magazine to read during your pedicure if you don't have buddies to hang out with during. I had a deluxe pedicure which consisted of several steps. Part of it was a dip in what I can only assume was hot wax. The hot wax coated my foot, and then they wrapped my feet in plastic wrap. They stayed like that for a while, and then they took them out of the bags and peeled the wax off. It felt heavenly! I'm really happy with my nail job and I happily tipped my guy generously. I had made an appointment for myself (it was a Sunday afternoon) and it was moderately busy. I would say walk-ins are fine, but if you plan on going on a weekend or a busy time, you might want to call ahead - especially if you have more than 1 in your party. read more

After rating it a 4 in my original review... i came back to give an update. As mentioned in my last review.. i have been getting mani/pedis for YEARS consistently in LA/San Diego. Since moving here i've been trying to find a place to go. So, after going to this place for ~7 months straight every 2 weeks (to do my shellac). I decided to start looking for another place. They're not consistent enough for me. The last time I got my nails done was in February and it was horrible. I wanted a green color and it was so sheer that I could see my own nail through it. ALl of my friends were shocked that it was shellac. it didn't look like shellac at all! She took so long doing it that I had to go so I couldn't tell her to do another coat. I tried going to find a nail technician that I can go to consistently, but after going through alot of the technicians, I decided to move onto another nail salon. I will not be going to this place anymore. I can't rely on them because everytime i go... the quality is a hit or miss. read more

Cute decor, a talented staff, an extensive collection of regular and gel polishes, and several operators will have you in and out in a timely manner. They have student specials as well. I've been twice, and I have yet to be disappointed. They have updated equipment and everyone in the shop is diligent and pleasant. Free beverages as well. I've gotten my nails done twice and an eyebrow arch once, and I will go back again and again. Awesome manicure and pedicure. Today was the first time I've been to Diva Nail Spa. I'm always a little skeptical of going to new nail spas but I was extremely happy with my choice. I went with my friend Lacie. We had an appointment scheduled for 12:30. The nail spa was very busy. There was no delay with our appointment. We were also able to sit with each other the entire time. We were told to pick out our color and lotion. They have a large variety of nail polish (regular, gel, and shellac). They led us to our seats, then offered us something to drink. I wish I could remember their names but the lady and gentleman we had were great, very friendly. They made certain that the water wasn't too hot or too cold, made sure they didn't hurt us when cutting our cuticles, and pumicing our feet. Through the entire pedicure and manicure they were very precise. Lacie and I thought the price was reasonable. They have student pricing available which is great! We both got a shellac mani/pedi and will definitely be returning. The only complain I have was when I was finishing my manicure the lady asked if I would like to pay now or wait for my friend. I said "I'll pay now" and was getting my wallet out of my purse, still sitting in my chair, about to get up. Before I know it another manicurist was pretty rudely pushing me out of my seat. Of all the nail salons I've been to in Ann Arbor, Diva Nail Spa is the best. I came here simply because of the proximity to my house, and I'm so glad I did. Not only is the staff friendly, but they make you feel very welcome and comfortable. I was offered something to drink while waiting, and they often asked me about the water temp throughout the pedicure to make sure it was hot enough. I came in for a pedicure but ended up with a deluxe pedicure instead! My tech took a lot of time doing each step, including the massage! I also thoroughly enjoyed the heated lotion and hot stones-- a relaxing touch. NEVER and I repeat NEVER go to this place with your own nail color. You'll regret it. Other than that this is a more than sufficient place to meet your nail care needs. I would suggest for those of you who don't feel the need to change their nail color every two seconds to enjoy the wonder of shellac. A word of caution though, once it starts to chip (which won't be for at least 3 weeks) go back and have them remove it. Most of you won't need such advice as you regularly tend to your nails already. The service is efficient, the ladies are friendly enough and there's a vast array of shopping and eating to be done before and after your nail appointment. The prices are okay, not phenomenal, but after almost 2 years I still haven't become accustomed to the fact that getting your nails done in Ann Arbor is more expensive than in the city of New York. We said we were willing to wait for the mani/pedi combo because they were busy but they said it was fine and just rushed it so much. My toenails are fine but the nails look shitty, she didn't go all the way to where the cuticle is and you can tell where the first coat of color was and where the second was. So I've been to diva nail spa three times now and I have to say I am consistently pleased with the job that they do. I have had three different technicians each time and I am very pleased with my nails every time. All three times I've gone I've had shellac manis, and this was the first time I ever tried shellac...I love it! It's so shiny and chip free! I asked them lots of questions about how to get it off and they not only explained how to do it at home but said if you get your nails done there they'll take it off for free, even if you're not getting your nails done again :) such a nice service! The place is pretty huge so if it's not busy you get taken immediately and may even get nails and toes done at the same time if people are free. However, at busier times (Sunday before July 4th around 4pm) I had to wait half an hour for a pedi. The prices I think are pretty reasonable. $28 for a shellac mani which I think is pretty good. I know the prices on those can really range from place to place. The regular pedi is also $28, don't know the price on the shellac pedi since I've never had one. This last time the guy asked me if I wanted a deluxe pedi, I declined since the regular pedi includes a nice scrub, massage, and hot stones! Not sure what the deluxe includes...maybe the parrafin wax? Overall, it's definitely my new go to nail place :) read more

I went in here earlier this week asking for a design they had a example of on a manikin hand at the front door. The women couldn't do it so I changed my design. 3 times. From things they had on display showing they they offered. They have no samples of their colored acrylic so you literally do not know what you're gonna get. For $80 for a very very basic set, you'd think that they'd be shaped uniform? Nope. Each nail literally looks so different. My thumbs were two different lengths. I went back in first thing the next day to get them fixed. And the other women tried telling me they all looked exactly the same and that my eyes were wrong lmfao. They didn't even touch my cuticles either. Also, for $80 that manicure better end with a massage, that's literally the best part about getting your nails done. I had short short nails when I came in originally and o told her I wanted the new ones longer *than what I had* and every time I asked for them shorter she said "but you ask for them long so I make them long* Honestly all around a horrible experience. And if you have anxiety 100% don't try to tell them they're doing something wrong because they'll just argue with you and tell you you're wrong. In town for business, the MR scheduled me a surprise treatment after cruising Yelp for a salon. He chose so well! I had the deluxe pedicure and a manicure and loved every moment. In this well designed, modern salon (massive water features line each of the walls where you have your pedicure); I enjoyed a soak, file, scrub, wax treatment, hot stone massage, warming lotion massage, cleaning & polish, and another scented lotion massage. It is an amazing treatment for the price! No issue with me bringing in my own polish & remover as I'm a no chemical gal. VIcki and Kim are friendly, professional and suggestive of their services but not pushy. If this place was in my neighborhood, it would be an every two week arrangement. I just started coming here and they do a great job on regular mani pedi. It lasted me for a really long time, which is a plus. I also get wax done here, Vicky is quick and efficient. My only small compliant is the pricing. It's a little over priced compared to my old salon in Miami. But it's fine, I don't mind paying a little extra for a job well done. read more

Don't know that I would classify this as a "spa" but it is a great nail salon. If you're really looking to a spa experience where you want to relax and be pampered you may be better off going elsewhere. Note this review is for their waxing services. Pros: 1. The person doing my wax was nice. Cons: 1. Their website doesn't list the price of their services. The price they say on the phone when one calls is not the same when they charge you. 2. The waxing room is dusty and dirty. The paper on the table where the customer lays was not changed when I got there or after my service. 3. The person doing the waxing didn't use gloves and dipped the same wooden stick into the hot wax multiple times. She never changed it so that was very disgusting. The waxing strips were also re-used. (I hope I do not get an infection. Really regretting going here) :-( 4. Even though the young lady doing my waxing was nice she was not qualify for the job. She yank the waxing stripped upwards and my skin was very red and I have a lot of pain. This has not happened to me before. 5. They are not consistent with their prices. I was told by the lady doing my under arm was that the price was $18 but she wasn't sure. When I paid in the front she spoke in her language to the other lady doing the transaction and charged me $25! How can one work at a place and not know the price of the service being provided? In conclusion, I will never go to Diva Nail Spa for a waxing service. The owner is so very rude! I went and had a manicure and it was terrible experience! First, she tried to tell me that I had gel on my toenails when I told her that I had NEVER used gel on my toes. She actually sat and argued with me until she put nail polish remover on the toes and the polish came right off. She then proceeded to do the sloppiest manicure I had ever had. Polish all over the cuticles, the top coat only covering half the toe so that the nails actually dried two different colors. When I went back the next day to have it fixed, she just sloppily applied the color ON TOP of the original bad job and told me she was done. Just terrible customer service and rudeness on top of it all. I will never set foot (no pun intended) in this establishment again. read more

Made a reservation for my sister in law and myself for 5:30pm for manicures and pedicures. We sat in pedicure chairs for 40 minutes and they didn't even pour water for our feet to soak. Went for a fill about two weeks later, he rushed through it my nails were thick and ugly. When I went the first time I was charged 55 and that's what I normally pay. She didn't seem to be paying attention and did some stuff to one foot but not the other. Furthermore, the woman who did my pedicure gave me a hard time for not being able to tip her with cash. I love this place. I have been to way too many nail salons and anytime I go anywhere other than Diva Nails I am always disappointed, always. Sure it gets busy and if you didn't make an appointment you might have to wait, but it's worth it. The salon is always clean and you can tell they sanitize and adhere to all OSHA guidelines. I recommend this salon when ever I can. After reading some of the poor reviews on here I have to comment. Sure English is not many of the techs native language, however they are ALL sweet and have no problem repeating or restating a question if there is a language issue. I can't says how much they rock here. I have had issues with the shellac at times and they have ALWAYS fixed it for free no questions asked. I am always treated with respect, and yes often when you walk in it's busy and sometimes they have to talk loudly to be heard but always they say welcome, what can we help you with. The techs are always ready to advise if I can't decide what to do, they suggest colors or different nail treatments. Bottom line if your looking for a super cheep fast place, don't come.
