After getting a sub-par manicure from a different business, I was desperate to get my manicure fixed ASAP. The business that gave me the initial manicure was closed. I was able to schedule an appointment at New York Nails for the next day--and while I was nervous about going somewhere new, I was grateful they fit me into their schedule. When I got to my appointment, the tech (who might also be the owner?) was working patiently with three older women. I was really touched by how gentle and kind she was with them. She multi-tasked between those clients and myself with surprising ease. I wasn't sure how good she was at detailed nail art, so I showed her two pictures of options I was considering (so she could choose the one that she thought she could execute best). She said she could do either, but we ended up deciding on the ombre design together. She completed the job beautifully. She painted on the dip material, which I wasn't used to, but it resulted in a really smooth ombre that was lovely. The tip of one of my nails broke within 48 hours. I don't blame this on her work; I was at a horse barn doing some serious barn chores. (98% of most manicures can't survive that. LOL) I called to schedule an appointment to have it fixed and she said I could come the next day. Again, she effectively multi-tasked during my repair appointment and didn't charge me for the repair. I had no issues with the manicure after that repair (even in spite of going back to the barn multiple times). I did notice, both time I was there, that she seemed to have some difficulty with creating symmetrical designs. It was not for a lack of trying or effort on her part; I think it just happens. During my first appointment she made a joke to the woman she was working on that now the woman had two different "pictures" to look at, between her different nails. During my repair appointment, someone called to complain about a lack of symmetry, and she told the woman on the phone the same thing about "different pictures" but that they could come back in and she'd try to fix it. So I don't think this is probably the best place to go if you want really tricky and precise work done on your nails, but if you want a solid manicure with more standard nail art, I think this place is a great choice. I wish this place was better because the people running it are nice, but I've never walked away happy with my nails. Last time I went, my friend got a mani pedi and decided to remove the polish on her fingers and toes the next day because it was so sloppy. They often do fewer coats than necessary and don't bring the polish all the way to the end of the nail. Sometimes there's problems with leaving polish or even acrylic on the surrounding skin. This last time lots of what looked like specks of dirt appeared on top of my acrylic nails in the hours after my appointment which I'm told is a result of inadequate drying between coats of gel polish. I stopped back in to the shop to show the woman who did my nails what happened to be helpful - not asking for a free polish change or anything - and her response disappointed me. She said that must be from the hair dye I use or touching ink on paper. I've never dyed my hair and handle almost no physical paper, not that either of those things would create the speckled effect I was left with on my nails. On top of that, the prices have never aligned with the price menu posted in the shop. I'm really unclear what my acrylic nails that look permanently dirty cost me (because it was combined with a regular manicure and 2 pedicures) but they weren't cheap, so if you're choosing this place for price reasons you may want to keep looking. read more

Credit where credit is due - although I was disappointed with a past pedicure here, they helped me out of a tight spot this week. I wanted to be festive over Thanksgiving, so while I was home, my sister in law and I got gel manicures. When mine started to chip, I read about how to remove the polish at home, and I tried (mail wraps that I bought). And tried (filing down the top coat with gritty nail files). And tried (pure acetone). After three strikes and grungy looking nails, I slapped some regular polish over to keep them acceptable, and vowed to find a salon to help. The first place that I went to did not take walk-ins, so I went to New York Nails, the next place that I passed. The employee there immediately welcomed me and got to work removing the stubborn polish. About 10 minutes later it was all removed, and my nails looked fantastic and bare. It was a reasonable $10, which was much less than I had spent on my DIY removal misadventure. My many thanks to this place for fitting me right in and helping me out! read more

I would never recommend this nail salon- the owner is crazy- I had a 2:00 appt the owner told me she has a family nails to finish 2 kids and the mom. She has some guy who spent 45 min filing my nail than another women comes over and starts filing again. She then starts taking nail off, saying they are old. I told her they are not old-I had them done last month somewhere else. The owner comes over and says can I give you a hug? I said NO she does anyways. She finishes my nail they are not even with each other some are so short while others are long. All I wanted was a Pink and White fill. The owner is so inappropriate-with her trying to hug you. I asked the ONLY nail tech in the entire business for a full gel set. I asked for the first photo & was told "ok I can do that." So I sat down; IMMEDIATELY she put white tips on my nails, I said something about the tips being clear in my inspiration photo and saw them behind her. She said she can make it look exactly the same, that she does this every day. Um ok...so I let her start applying the black powder...the more she worked the less they looked ANYTHING like the photo. I continued to point this out and she insisted I let her "fix it" to look like the picture. But by the time she went to do the holo, bats and rhinestones, I knew she couldn't do it because she said "I don't have bats or black rhinestones..." SO WHY DID YOU SAY YOU COULD DO THIS SET? I would have chosen another set out of my Pinterest board. Fast forward to me having green crosses (when I'm not religious) and white lines around my nails like a weird black panther claw style design. She refused to do shiny because she thought this horrendous set was prettier matte. Then asked me for $80 and when I said I was NOT happy, I was close to tears, and that I was not paying her $80 for something that was nothing like what I asked for...and if she wanted me to pay for something like that when I was visibly upset over what she had done to my nails, she could remove them...she SNATCHED my hand up and jerked it to her and start recklessly clipping them off roughly! And took her Dremel tool and started on the tops; by this time I'm livid, but not speaking. She looks up at me and says "you owe me $50" and my response was "I owe you nothing, your job is to deliver the service I am willing to pay for because it's what I asked for, this isn't what I asked for & I certainly won't pay you $50 for destroying my nails and wasting my time." She refused to remove them, and told me to figure it out myself and to get out. Ok‍ So I went to my regular salon about 35 minutes away which I should have done to begin with; they were honest and told me they didn't have their Halloween stock in yet for the bats & I chose another set and they gave me exactly what I wanted for the exact same price New York Nails wanted! Only they had to fix her damage first; when she was roughly and recklessly clipping my nails away, she damaged my nail bed and they had to give my hands some serious TLC before they could even apply my first 2021 Halloween themed set. T&L for the win (black & purple set) I WILL NEVER go back to New York Nails, and have started speaking with the BBB this morning. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. **ETA she did my daughters nails decently, so I didn't mention it but in days they started popping off, $40 gel set and the didn't even last a week. Here now for an acrylic fill in and to have my toe nail polish changed. My friend and I came in and were immediately greeted and the husband and wife duo started on our nails. She came to get her old acrylics soaked off and ended up getting that plus shellac due to the low price of both. The atmosphere is very chilled with a funny movie playing in the background. They have the cutest son who will play peekaboo with you from the waiting room lol. This was my first time here and I will definitely return. We came in for nail service and left feeling blessed. This is my first yelp review. I don't like writing reviews, but these ladies deserve my time to speak the truth. They are very sweet hard working ladies. My mom, daughter and I all came in about an hour prior to close yesterday evening. It was our first time visiting this salon and came in due to their reviews. My mom and I wanted a new full set mani and a deluxe pedi, and my 8 year old daughter just wanted her fingernails painted as a motivation for her good grades and behavior so far this school year. It had been about a year since my mom had a mani or pedi, because she spent the last several months fighting stage 4 cancer. We almost lost her. This was the first time she felt well enough to go into a shop for any type of spa services. She is also a diabetic and needs to keep her feet healthy. Without being able to get a pedi for a year (outside of toe nail clippings) her feet were in bad shape. Natalie took her time and even rubbed her feet with tender loving care. She made my mom feel special especially after being embarrassed about the condition of her feet. Vivian took her time on my mani and pedi and did the cutest silver design on my nails. As I stated earlier, we came in close to close, and I knew she was a bit tired, but she didn't show this one bit in her work. Her talent surprised me. She did an amazing job. She did my daughters nails with as much care as a mom would give her own daughter and even did pretty little flowers on two of her fingers. Toward the end, I explained to Natalie just how much my mom had been through this year, and she continued taking as much time as my mom needed and was very patient. She hugged my mom and told me to appreciate her. We left crying. Life is short. They went above and beyond on our nails and as human beings. Spend your money here. They deserve it. NY Nails offers the strangest & worst nail experience, IMO. I went for a manicure, and he barely trimmed the cuticles, which I said were my priority. Actually, he painted OVER them - here are my CUTICLES! No brand name polish - only strongly chemical-smelling thick, white polish ( I wanted something neutral, like Mademoiselle or Baby's Breath). I removed it as soon as I got home. Here's the truly strange part, besides the toddler running around crying, the filth of the place & the food-smells from the break room: the guy told stories about his youth in Vietnam, and he is evidently still on the side of the South Vietnamese/US, so he showed me several videos with folk songs, and speeches from some "General" who is still "resisting" the Viet Cong! Where. Do. I. Begin. 3 of us came in an hour till close expecting to be able to be seen by a nail tech each. There was only one guy working (Tony) but he seemed enthusiastic and insisted on doing all 3 of us himself, even turned off the open sign and closed early so we would be his last customers of the day. Everything about the experience was so strange. He didn't know what stiletto shape was, he cut all of our nails the same length without asking (he worked on us assembly line style, which we were fine with), when told someone's acrylics were slightly crooked he said it was because that how her nails grew, and he even told me AS HE WAS WORKING ON MY NAILS that he hated being a nail tech. I was like oh lovely. It shows in his work that he doesn't know how to do nails efficiently or properly. One of us even made him stop in the middle of filing because she was in so much pain. Her and I didn't let him finish, only one let him finish the entire process. We are all girls who have acrylics 24/7 and are regulars at our respective salons, we only went here because they were open later than other places in the area. i went in on monday, July 12th for a regular mani and pedi,nothing fancy,no gel, no shellac, basically just to take care of my own nails..not sure who the girl was, i know it was not Natalie, i have had her before and she is great....this girl barely spoke to me, mind you, her and i were the only ones in the salon at the time, so kind of awkward..... anyway, she hurried thru everything and left a mess...you could still see my previous color around the edges and she did not even bother to file my nails so they would all be the same, plus she left blobs of polish everywhere, so when i got home, i had to clean them up and file them.. i was very displeased with the service..thank you for listening..have always gone there, i don't think i will be going back read more

Not only were my toenails not even filed nicely, they were not even, one didn't even get clipped so it was much longer than the others, and at the end when I noticed that two of my toes only had polish on half of them, I kept asking the woman to fix it and she just kept saying have a nice day. When I got home and saw it under the light it was even worse that in the salon....toenails all uneven, sloppy polish. I took it off and re-did it myself and it looked better. Unhappy with my experience getting a shellac mani. Owner's small children were running around the entire time. The guy doing my manicure stopped working multiple times on my nails to take care of his children throughout my entire manicure. The tools they use are not new, they only wipe them off really quick with alcohol. The salon in general is not very sanitary and is dated looking. The guy doing my nails cut my skin with the cuticle nipper tool and it's very painful. Some of the Shellac nail polish was painted on quickly and is dried onto the skin surrounding my nails. The mani looks messy in general. Then the way he massaged my hands afterwards with the lotion was very aggressive and not gentle. It hurt my wrists. On top of everything else, the guy doing my mani was wearing a sweat shirt and sweat pants with stains all over his sweatshirt and food crumbs on his sweatshirt. Gross!
