The second is from 9 pm till close. - If you are tall, be careful standing up at your booth and hitting your head on a hanging lamp. After running errands last Saturday, I was ready for lunch. I remembered seeing this Moxie's near Pickle Barrel the last time I was at The Shops at Pickering City Centre (formerly Pickering Town Centre). Moxie's has better happy hour hours than Pickle Barrel. I'd make it to the former for the 2 pm till 5 pm period. It didn't take long for me to drive from eastern Markham to this shopping mall. It's a bit crazy to weave through it, but I got a decent parking spot fairly close to the eatery's entrance. It was raining, so I walked in wearing a hoodie, armed with an umbrella. I was promptly seated at a comfy booth. I was near the washrooms, although I didn't see a sign saying that it was the path to them. Weird. Folks walking in and out of the corridor tipped me off. Daelynn was my server. It was busy at this eatery at around 2:30 pm. She was nice. I do like happy hour menus these days. You can save a bit, which I appreciate. I started with these items: - Diet Coke - Absolut sippin' soda with bellini - Steak frites My boozy bellini soda came to me first. It's basically a slushy bellini soda with Absolut vodka. For $6, it was enjoyable. However, the bellini peachy flavour was subtle. I would have preferred a more bold, juicy peach taste. I got a Diet Coke. It was fizzy and cold. Sadly, it took forever to get a refill from my server. A friendly bartender who happened to walk by to pick up my empty glass offered to fill it up a couple of times. Yay! My steak frites came out. It was so good. It was regularly $38. The happy hour price made it $27. Such a steal these days! I got my steak medium. It had the best chimichurri on top. The steak was perfectly done. Yummy! I got an arugula salad as a side that was unexpected. I tore through it. It was fresh and delicious. I ended up dabbing bites of my salad into the chimichurri. Even my fries went into it. My fries were crispy. It came with ketchup. They were fine, but I loved the arugula salad more. I got dessert. I went with a key lime pie without any whipped cream. It arrived as specified. I love key lime pie. It was tart and yummy. The crust was perfect. It wasn't dry. It wasn't full of moisture. It was perfect. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and tipped. Done! I used the washroom before I left. It was clean and nicely maintained. No issues. If you are tall, you may want to take care getting up from your booth if there's a hanging lamp. I didn't and hit my head on the one above my booth. Luckily, I didn't hit my head on it hard. I'd returned again for more good eats and drinks. Maybe I should try happy hour during the weekday, as it probably won't be as hectic. (174)

I wish the host would give us a choice of air conditioning dining or al fresco dining. The covered patio was very humid and noisy. I would've appreciated if the host asked us if we were celebrating any occasion today. A private booth would have been more intimate for the occasion. We had to move the table because there was no room to sit down. We ordered 2 Moxies signature dishes. The Chipotle mango chicken $31.75 and the Mushroom Sirloin. Both dishes were executed and presented well. The chicken breast had nice charred marks along with delicious ancient grains rice, grilled veggies and avocado pico de gallo. The complexity of flavours and textures made this dish a standout. I highly recommend this main. The mushroom sirloin was a masterpiece. The mushroom madeira sauce complimented the thick piece of sirloin broiled to perfection at medium rare. The mash potatoes were creamy and the seasonal veggies were again delicious. We order 2 Mexican Bulldogs which are margaritas with a Coronita put upside down in the margarita bowl glass. Nice salted rim and limes to garnish. One critique I would say is that I wish the margarita was more frozen and less watery. We ordered the dry ribs for our appetizer. The ribs had a nice light crispy batter. My wife loved the ribs. Aside from the initial issues we enjoyed the food and will definitely come back for the culinary experience. The server was kind and polite. She checked on us to ensure we enjoyed the food. We did have to remind her to bring us appetizer plates for the dry ribs. Just some minor tweaks in service and the experience would be 5 stars.

It's located in a plaza next to Rexall, anchored by a Food Basics. I headed eastbound along Steeles Avenue East, which becomes Taunton Road. I then turned right on Westney Road North, eventually making a left into this plaza. There was plenty of parking when I arrived. I backed into a spot and walked in. We reserved a couple of tables. We were ready to eat! We got there just before 4 pm. Our friendly server advised that its new pub menu was available for us to order from, as well as its main menu. It's a Caribbean restaurant that puts an island twist on many items. There are also non-Caribbean food if you're not feeling like having spiced-up items. From the pub menu, we got these items: - Loaded crunch burger - Mushroom madness burger - Greek salad - Beef nachos - Jerk chicken poutine - Jerk quesadilla We ordered these items from the main menu: - Special chicken lo mein - Spicy pepper shrimp - Honey garlic beef short ribs - Szechwan tofu with rice We started off with drinks. I ended up with a Hibiscus fruit mocktail. I couldn't tell you what was in it, but it was cold and delicious. Our table also got colourful drinks, including a mojito. We also got a pitcher of icy water. I went up to the bar to get a refill roughly halfway through our meal. The female staffer was so nice. She brought the refill to our table and even topped up our glasses. The food was excellent. I sadly couldn't fit the burgers in my system. They looked amazing. I love mushrooms, so I was especially sad that I didn't get to try the mushroom madness burger. Both burgers that we ordered came with fries. It seemed weird to order a Greek salad from a Caribbean place. Hey, we got to get some greens in. I was impressed at how much feta we got. I enjoyed this salad. The lettuce and onions were crisp. The latter didn't have that raw, burning taste to them. The dressing was delicious. The beef nachos were amazing. The beef had big, bold, beefy flavour. The melty cheese was great with the sour cream and crunchy nacho chips. I normally don't like sour cream, but this place didn't overdo it. I liked the lighter-handed approach. The jerk poutine was amazing. It had the best seasoned jerk chicken morsels with crispy fries, a decent gravy, and cheese curds. The jerk quesadilla stole my heart. The cheese pull didn't seem to want to stop. It was the same flavourful jerk chicken. It was delicious. The mains were equally as good as the pub items! The special chicken lo mein was indeed special. The lo mein was chewy and yummy. The sauce was on the saltier side, but it wasn't horrible. I liked the veggies, especially the baby corn. It had tender chicken morsels mixed in. On top of everything was even more roasted chicken. Wow! Everything was delicious, including the chicken on top. The spicy pepper shrimp were incredible. If you like spicy deliciousness, get the shrimp. They were perfectly cooked and yummy. The honey garlic beef short ribs were scrumptious. The sauce had the best mix of honey with garlic. The ribs were tender. I loved the red and green peppers. Yum! The szechuan tofu was a nice alternative to meat. The flavours were bold and perfect. I loved the cubed tofu. I actually brought this dish home with a mound of steamed rice. This eatery has a lot of seating. The bar is gorgeous. There's a huge screen for sports games there. You can also watch games anywhere in this restaurant as there are screens everywhere. If you do want a change of pace, there's a pool table near the entrance. I used the washroom before leaving and heading home. The women's was clean. This eatery has lunch and student specials. I'd like to try the former items one of these days. I had a great time with friends here over yummy drinks and food. I can't wait to return for more. (285)
