Excellent service, knowledgeable staff and best prices. My wife and I have long been thinking about buying a nice camera. Now that we are expecting our first baby soon, it became a must. We had no idea about professional cameras, lenses, options, etc. The sales staff spent hours answering all our questions, explaining options and advising what we need and what we don't. After all the advice and information we needed, we compared the prices with other stores, Amazon, Costco and online sellers, and found that the prices here were less than everywhere else. I discovered Photocraft after they merged with a long-time favorite camera dealer of mine, Embassy Camera, in DC. The Photocraft location in Burke, VA happened to have stock on the piece of gear I was looking for at the time. Eldar was very helpful, offered a price competitive with anyone either online or retail and customer service that is extremely rare anymore. Came here today to get information on DSLR cameras, Spoke with the manager (aldar?) who knows everything there is to know about these cameras, explained to me all the different functions and what to expect. The prices were cheaper than anything I could find online (will get to that part in the next paragraph) and says that he will price match any Nikon reputable dealer, Left the store with a Nikon 3200 for cheaper than on amazon + got a free Memory Card and Lens protective kit. I will definitely be back. PS: Reputable websites will have prices very similar its the bottom dollar prices on unknown websites you have to watch out for, A website had the same camera for half the price, but when you dig deeper you realize they have NO warranty and if the camera breaks, Nikon is not responsible because you didn't buy from a Nikon authorized dealer, BUYERS BE WARE!. read more

I ordered a lens online, therefore I can't give an opinion of what the store looks like or anything of the kind. However, I will say that their customer service is outstanding as is their shipping efficiency. While other places take 24-72hrs to prepare your shipment for order -which is extremely annoying btw, I mean if you have the product in house, put it an a box and send it- how hard is that? (sorry major tangent)- Photo Craft took I swear less than 2hrs to prepare my order. I made the order at 5pm and needed it overnighted and low and behold I had my product the very NEXT business day!!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Oh and how do I know their CS is outstanding? Well, I had a different shipping address than my billing address and while others take 2 days to verify this, Photo Craft did it the SAME DAY!!! What?!?!? You mean, it's that easy??!?! Then why do other companies take forever? Sorry, another tangent. Anyway, I am ecstatic to have found Photo Craft for all my photo needs, even if I live 5000miles away!!! What a great camera store! I'm amazed at how much inventory they fit into this space, and yet it doesn't feel crowded. A tad tight yes, but not crowded. And it's worth it, to be able to touch so many options of products and make a good decision. The lady who helped me was very nice and knowledgeable. She knew her stuff! She was a great listener - not trying to upsell me, but concentrating on finding exactly what I was looking for, and in my price range. She even demonstrated the product very thoroughly, so I could know exactly what I was buying. When I got home from buying the item at this store, I googled the item to compare the price. At niche stores like these nowadays, I fully expect a price hike. But I was very pleased to see that the price was exactly on par with online sites. Fantastic! I will definitely be back!! I had a horrible experience. I traded 3 lenses in for another lens. I was told if I wanted to return the new lens, I had 15 days to do so. The employee that helped me said I would be able to get my old lenses back. I saw them copy the serial numbers of the lenses I left. I was told that they would hold them for the 15 days, in case I wanted to return the new one. When I went to return the new lens, as it did not suit my purpose, I was informed there is a 15% restocking fee. I knew this. However, I was also told that I couldn't receive my old lenses back. Since I was originally told that I could, I felt taken advantage of and cheated! I will never go there again, nor would I recommend them to anyone! read more

The sales people have always been helpful, and I've never felt pressured to purchase anything and they've never pushed unwanted accessories or add-ons. Came in here for a specific lens after calling and seeing if they had it in stock. They reserved it for me and I came right in to fill out the paperwork and was out with my new rental lens. Return was very easy just drop off and done. Will definately return as they have the greatest selection of rental lenses in the area and you can't beat the costs either! This is the best camera shop in the DMV area. If you are a photographer at any level or a videographer at any level, this is the place for you. All the employees are super helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I have been shopping here for over a year now and ever time I walk in the door they have treated me with nothing but kindness and professionalism. I have bought two cameras from them and I have sold camera gear to them as well. They've always offered me a fair price on all my camera items. Even when I don't buy anything they have always spent time with me helping me with all my questions. I came in to buy a C-stand a while ago and they told me they had in stock, but it was in a warehouse off site. They sent someone to go get it for me while I went to have lunch nearby and when I returned about 40 minutes later it was waiting behind the counter for me. A month later I loved the stand so much I decided to buy another one, so I called in advance to make sure they had another one available and again they fetched it from the warehouse so that it was waiting for me behind the counter when I arrived at the store. I know I can't get all the professional photography gear I need from a brick and mortar store anymore, but I can't stress enough how important it is to buy from your local store whenever you can so we can keep good shops like this in business for when we really need them. Sometimes there are going to be emergencies on the day of a shoot when you need to be able to get a replacement part or accessory in a hurry, and a shipment from B&H just isn't an option. read more

Great store, great staff, great prices! So happy I found this fabulous store. Bought a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and a 300 f/2.8 I believe it was the manager I dealt with; he was friendly, gave me an extended warranty at no cost and chopped the price. His friendliness has secured my business for the foreseeable future. Their store is well laid out with all the products easily displayed. While I was talking to him I noticed they even carry the Zeiss Otus 55 f/1.4 and the 85 f/1.4, two of each! That's gotta be close to $20,000 worth of lenses in a linear foot of display space. I recently purchased a $2700 lens from PhotoCraft. Unlike other camera shops in the DC metro area, there was a sense of comfort upon entering the store and engaging the employees. For me, the source of my comfort was the lack of condescension and judgement from the employees. The gentleman that helped me understood that most everyday people purchasing a $2700 lens would show some hesitation about the purchase. This came across in how empathetic he was during our conversation and the hour I spent checking out the lens. There was no rush, no feeling as if he had better things to do with his time, no sense that he thought I was an idiot for possessing some hesitation about the purchase. I was truly grateful for his courtesy and patience. These days, one of the only reasons to purchase from a brick-and-mortar store is customer service, and from what I experienced at PhotoCraft, they knock it out of the park. The staff seemed nice enough, but be careful bringing in your own equipment to sell. I walked in with a pristine Pentax 645, and walked out with a broken battery case that looks to be impossible to replace. The case was seating properly in the grip when I brought it in and throughout his entire testing phase, but it wouldn't lock into place after he removed the batteries. It looks like one of the pins broke off in the process. So, of course, the price they quoted to buy it from me was based on it being broken. I wish they had taken responsibility and figured out a way to make it right. It's still usable -- maybe some duct tape to hold it in place more securely -- but it sure limits being able to sell it at this point. Very disappointing. read more

Brought my camera in for a repair, it took about 2 weeks for the camera to be fixed. There was some miscommunication throughout the repair process, and I began to doubt the service provided. When I brought the camera back in to discuss other issues, I was extremely pleased with how Eldar handled the situation. We where having a problem with video feature on our camera. Prior to going in the store we called in to ask a few questions and after hanging up we knew right away why they received 5 stars on Yelp. We then went to the store to get the camera repaired and the problem was so insignificant that we weren't even charged. You just don't get that type of customer service these days (so sad). Terrible Business Strategy! Buy LOW, sell HIGH! I went here to trade in or sell a couple of my canon L Lenses, that are in like new condition! The offer value for trade, and or purchase was laughable. Especially when looking at the lens I wanted to trade up for and purchase was visibly used and showed signs of cosmetic damage on the lens!! And their purchase price?? ($999.00) I understand they are in the business of making money, but that should not be at the cost of ripping off customers. I received quality photos from them, but their customer service needs improvement. I had recent issues with an order, where the product that I received was not what I asked for. (I had asked for four sets of photos and thought that was what I had paid for, but later discovered I only had paid for one set).
