I couldn't be happier with my care here! The staff is always kind and thoughtful. When my insurance changed I decided to leave Distinctive Dental try out a different dental practice closer to my house which was a big mistake. The other dentist (NOT distinctive) did a filling that they not only trapped blood behind, but also left a massive amount of excess composite that went passed where the tooth meets the gum and essentially made a spear slicing into the inside of my cheek. I could fit a fingernail between the excess material and the gum above my tooth. I was in a ton of pain from the resulting ulcer on my cheek and the headache from dental pain. I called distinctive and was able to get an appointment very quickly. While Dr. Kim and the assistant remained incredibly professional, they seemed surprised and were very empathetic that I was left with a filling in the condition I was. They ensured I was fully educated on my options and involved me in the creation of the treatment plan. At the first appointment they removed the excess material to ease my pain and allow the soft tissues to heal. When I went back for the repair, we had initially thought a crown was necessary, but Dr. Kim was able to successfully repair with a new filling. They could've said the significantly more expensive crown was still necessary and I wouldn't have known better, but they chose better care over making money. The procedure itself was also miles better than my experience with the other dentist--the other office had forcefully pulled my cheek away as far as possible in an attempt to access the affected back molar, while Dr. Kim gave me instructions on how to hold my jaw so he could see. He also checked in frequently to ensure I was doing okay. He also took multiple photos throughout the process so I could actually see what he was talking about, and the before and after difference was night and day. TLDR: incredibly kind and compassionate staff that truly puts patient care over profit and ensure the patient is fully informed and involved in their treatment plan. I highly recommend! read more

I have come here for 40 years, and have had excellent care, thoughtful feedback on my dental health, and pleasant interactions with all staff. My worst fear was that Dr. Nutter would retire while I still had teeth, but yesterday Dr. Yankee performed a procedure and it went perfectly. So it looks like I will be in good hands going forward. This is the first time in my 60 years that I have had such an amazing time at the dentist of all places! I had headphones and was watched TV while my procedure was being done and I did not feel the needle (since I'm a big baby when it comes to that). I have been seeing Doctor Nutter for almost a decade. In that time, I have always found he, his staff, and his partners to be professional, skillful, personable, and gentle. I have a flatly refused to go anywhere else for dentistry in that time. Even when I lived out in Hillsboro, the trip was more than worth it. I appreciate that they always know my name, my dental technician remembers the things we've talked about in the past, and brings them up again. I have always had nerves around dentistry, but I never worry when I go here. The facility is clean, neat, well appointed, opening. They have a selection of drinks, and the usual magazines and television. They also have toys for young children. As an added bonus, if I realize that I have a cold sore developing, I can ask them to zap it with their laser, and it does not really develop. Really like that part. I cannot recommend Distinctive Dental enough. I would give them six stars if Yelp let me. read more

I was fortunate enough to be referred to this office by a good friend! We have only been here since October and having a good Dentist is VERY IMPORTANT to me. My first visit was with Dr Nutter to go over the work that needed to be done right away. From the front desk staff Kelly and Dr Nutters Assistant Sarah I've never felt more comfortable in a Dentist office EVER! I was able to schedule the work that needed to be done right away and it was done with no after pain or soreness...I am so happy to have my Husband also use this office and will refer them to anyone who will listen. read more

This place lied about accepting my insurance and stuck me with a huge bill months after the fact. Stay away from this place unless you do your own due diligence with your insurance company first because they have no issue lying to get business. Update: They fixed their mistake and billed me for the amount that should have been billed to me if my insurance was accepted. They were very nice about the mix-up and their facilities are top notch but still be weary. read more

THIS is what I've been looking for!! I wanted to go to a dentist where I'm more like family than a number. My previous dental office was a conglomerate - I almost never had the same dentist twice, and when I did, he didn't remember me. That's not how I want my oral care to be handled. I'm so glad I found Dr. Nutter @ Distinctive Dental. The moment I first called to transfer all my information, I was treated so friendly and warmly that it made me comfortable making the switch. I showed up for my first appointment yesterday to warm, friendly staff who took time to get to know me and my needs before getting down to business. From front desk staff to my dental assistant, hygienist, and dentist, everyone was super knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and I just felt like I was in the right place with the right people to take care of my teeth for life. I'm very picky about who takes care of my teeth-I'd like to keep all of them my entire life. Last year I decided to break up with my long term dentist simply because Portland traffic has gotten to be a nightmare and it was a 60 mile drive. The break up was difficult for me because he's an excellent dentist. Fast forward to Distinctive Dental. My husband was the guinea pig going to Dr. Kim every other visit and our long term dentist in between. Because both dentists had exactly the same recommendations for his dental care he felt confident making the change. It took me 2 years longer but I'm very happy being a patient here! Dr. Kim is very competent & caring and takes the time to answer any questions I have. The hygienist has all the latest equipment which make cleanings more comfortable. The level of service from the moment you walk in the door is actually off the charts. It doesn't hurt any that the building and office is beautiful too - with lovely water features outside & inside, wifi and all the modern comforts. I've happily accompanied my husband to his appointments just for the opportunity to hang out in the downstairs lobby and relax :-) Today was my routine cleaning/x-rays/exam -after the appointment they emailed a short evaluation survey and based on my visit there was absolutely nothing needing improvement. Here's the comment I added to the survey: Love the addition of the aromatherapy diffuser with essential oils (thanks for not using synthetic fragrance oil). Between the amazing smell when I walked in, to the relaxing music being played I felt like I was at a spa rather than my dentist- gotta love that! The care and kindness I received during my visit also added to the "pampering" spa experience. Kudos to your staff! I have had only terrible experiences with dental visits. I have dreaded them prior to visiting distinctive dental. Dr. Nutter was friendly, expeditious and covered pertinent information in a simple manner. Dr. Kim did most of my work (fixing a previous dentist's mistakes) and was superb. I did not feel any pain, he was faster than I ever expected and had the best chairside manner I have ever experienced. Bre the dental assistant was just as valuable. The entire experience was the best dental visit I have ever had. The front staff made scheduling with my difficult calendar easy and I never waited in the lobby for more than 3 minutes. This people are as good as it gets. read more
