I finally got my impacted wisdom teeth (all four third molars) removed at Vancouver Oral Surgery…read moreGroup on 300 SE 120th Ave in Vancouver, WA, and I'm so glad I chose them. I was pretty nervous going in, but Dr. Martin Seidenschmid (everyone calls him "Doc Martin") made the whole thing so much easier. He has a great sense of humor, took the time to explain exactly what was going to happen in simple terms, and was incredibly gentle, quick and skilled during the procedure. I barely felt any discomfort afterward. Just some manageable soreness that was way better than I expected. His experience showed as I was expecting impacted wisdom teethe to be a lot bigger deal to get out of there! I felt completely confident and cared for the entire time. The front office and support team were just as outstanding and made everything stress-free. Michaela at reception and billing was an absolute superstar--she handled all my insurance questions, paperwork, and billing details with patience and a big smile. She explained everything clearly, followed up promptly, and went out of her way to make sure I understood my options and costs upfront. She has such a warm, professional way about her that turned what could have been a headache into something easy and reassuring. I can't say enough good things about her! Blanca in patient care coordination was equally wonderful--she also coordinated my pre-op instructions, answered all my follow-up questions, and made sure the entire process from scheduling to recovery was seamless and supportive. The whole Vancouver Oral Surgery Group team is friendly, efficient, and truly patient-focused. If you need wisdom teeth removed (or any oral surgery), this is definitely the place to go. Huge thanks to Dr. Martin, Michaela, Blanca, and everyone else for making my experience so positive--I'm already recommending them to friends and family! --Mary Hale

When Dr Leung explained that I would not be having the procedure that day, I lost my composure and burst into tears. I was so dejected and frustrated with my dental issue; this was my third dental appointment that left me disappointed and with my abscess unresolved. This kind and very compassionate man, who had never before met me, offered to see me before the clinic opened on the following Monday to get my extraction done. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate the care I received that day. I had virtually NO pain after he pulled my tooth. I hope to never need them again, but if I do, I'll return.

I couldn't be happier with my care here! The staff is always kind and thoughtful. When my insurance…read morechanged I decided to leave Distinctive Dental try out a different dental practice closer to my house which was a big mistake. The other dentist (NOT distinctive) did a filling that they not only trapped blood behind, but also left a massive amount of excess composite that went passed where the tooth meets the gum and essentially made a spear slicing into the inside of my cheek. I could fit a fingernail between the excess material and the gum above my tooth. I was in a ton of pain from the resulting ulcer on my cheek and the headache from dental pain. I called distinctive and was able to get an appointment very quickly. While Dr. Kim and the assistant remained incredibly professional, they seemed surprised and were very empathetic that I was left with a filling in the condition I was. They ensured I was fully educated on my options and involved me in the creation of the treatment plan. At the first appointment they removed the excess material to ease my pain and allow the soft tissues to heal. When I went back for the repair, we had initially thought a crown was necessary, but Dr. Kim was able to successfully repair with a new filling. They could've said the significantly more expensive crown was still necessary and I wouldn't have known better, but they chose better care over making money. The procedure itself was also miles better than my experience with the other dentist--the other office had forcefully pulled my cheek away as far as possible in an attempt to access the affected back molar, while Dr. Kim gave me instructions on how to hold my jaw so he could see. He also checked in frequently to ensure I was doing okay. He also took multiple photos throughout the process so I could actually see what he was talking about, and the before and after difference was night and day. TLDR: incredibly kind and compassionate staff that truly puts patient care over profit and ensure the patient is fully informed and involved in their treatment plan. I highly recommend!

But gone are the days of whiskey on the back counter and shaking your shoulder to make you hold still! Thank goodness! For what ever reason numbing shots no longer work well on me. My oral surgeon is Dr. Verschueren, and he knows how to work some serious magic. He now gives me IV "numbing". Dr. Verschueren, HIMSELF, gave me my IV and it was literally the most comfortable IV I've ever had placed. Gas doesn't usually work on me either but the stuff he uses did. It relaxed me and my horrible anxiety. I don't have dental insurance and they gave us discounts. His gift of listening completely, gentleness, compassion and true empathy are extraordinary. If you have tricky dental work or specific needs give him a buzz. He and his staff are the best in town and I'm so blessed to have his dental office there for me in those terrifying times when I need them. His being a native Washingtonian adds serious cred too, in my respectful opinion. Thank you ever so much Doc! Miss Sarah
