Dr. Brad has been a kind, supportive, and altogether an excellent dentist for me for over a decade and a half. I recommend him highly, and trust him absolutely. He and I joke that my life's desire is to die with my teeth intact, and he's said that I'm on the road to meeting that goal! My only negative comment is that a dental hygienist pointed out that using an x-brand of floss promoted by Costco has a relationship to cancer, using a toxic product. I checked it out, and she was right! However, her recommendation for other flosses simply didn't work out for me: Dr. Tung's Floss was fragile and while trying to get the shredded product out from between my teeth, flossing took up to 20 minutes every evening. Sadly, I'm going back to the possibly carcinogenic floss offered by Costco. YMMV, but taking 20 minutes to floss and then get the shredded floss bits out was too much for me. Yes, I read the instructions and waited as instructed for the flossing thread to "bloom" or "relax": It did not, Admittedly, my teeth are pretty tight together and I need a waxed floss, so sadly, this hygienist led me down a rabbit hole of misery and expense that didn't help me at all. I miss the dental hygienists of the past, who offered gentle reminders of best dental healthcare without promoting products that are not suited to every client. From now on, flossing away and after so many years of doing so well with this clinic, I don't care to hear suggestions from hygienists that are unaware of the placement on my teeth on my jawbone. Dr. Brad is great. I highly recommend this clinic, but be aware of the dental hygienists' advice, and take it with consideration to your own dental needs. read more

My family and I started going to Gillespie a few months ago and we all had great experiences. The staff was great. I went in for tooth pain recently and they told me very quickly that I needed to get a root canal immediately. I went to the specialist the next day for the root canal and they began doing lots of tests and something didn't seem right. Long story short they were shocked I was told to get a root canal and said I just needed to get a cavity fixed. One of my family members was also told to get a root canal when her tooth started hurting and after visiting another dentist they told her a root canal was not needed. I won't be going to Gillespie anymore because its too far from my house, but I would advise anyone that goes there to be careful when they insist on a root canal. read more

I'm a fairly new patient at Gillespie, I was looking for Dentists in network with my insurance, and their office was the closest to me and I saw all the positive reviews so I thought I would give them a try. I hadn't been to the dentist in YEARS, and despite that, all of the staff, and my Dentist, Emilee, were so kind and helpful during my time there. I needed a bunch of fillings, and everyone from the dental assistants to the office staff were phenomenal explaining the treatments and procedures, and were fully transparent about costs so I knew exactly what to expect. I've had a positive experience with every single person at Gillespie, the environment is very calm and welcoming as well so I always feel at ease during my appointments. My father was an orthodontist mother was a hygienist. My first job was working got a periodontist at 15. I have 10 years chair side experience and 5 years front office experience for different specialists and general dentists. Then I changed careers I moved to Vancouver last summer and was referred here by my real estate agent. I knew I had work to do as it had been a few years since I've been in I have seen two of the dentists and the hygienist and am very impressed. All staff is cheerful and professional. The doctors have taken time to show me X-ray's and discuss treatment plans and possible complications. We quit going here because the guy was doing work that did not need to be done, was overcharging and did not seem to care much for us patients or pay real close attention. We switched to a reputable dentist and have been happy ever since. The one we switched to is upfront and honest about the work that needs to be done, the timeline, tells us of concerns and what areas we need to brush more or pay more attention to, cost, does not charge way too much, gives us the option of if or when we want the work done. And most importantly: does good and honest work, cares about the end result and your opinion and will fix whatever work you're not satisfied with. read more

I absolutely love this place. I started going here several years ago when I worked nearby. Later, I moved away for school, and then found a job in NYC. Sadly, the dentist I've used out on the east coast was TERRIBLE. The thing is, I didn't know if it was ME or my teeth or HIM that were the problem, but after experiencing pain from a filling, he assured me my months of toothaches were "normal". He also told me I had SIX cavities. Well, I planned a trip back home to Portland for a wedding and called Gillespie to see if they could fit me in. When they found out I was only in town for a day, they rearranged schedules to make it work. I used to have Greg as a dentist, but his brother Brad was the only one on in the office the day I was in town- not a problem, they squeezed me in. Brad was totally patient about my hatred of needles, adjusted my east coast dentist's fillings, and filled in the ONLY other filling he saw (I DID NOT HAVE SIX CAVITIES). My mouth is back to normal and I feel great. I live in New York, but I will refrain from having any dental work done unless I'm in the Portland area. As somebody who has pretty severe dental-related anxiety, I can tell you that Gillespie Dentistry is the cat's meow. Not only do they offer nitrous for procedures, but also oral sedation and intravenous sedation. Their office is relaxing, clean, handsomely decorated, and every staff member I've come in contact has been professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Dr. Greg is the only dentist I've seen, but I highly recommend him. He's very patient and understanding when I'm tightly wound and doesn't push me. I broke a molar the one in front of the wisdom tooth, (as I had my wisdom teeth pulled as an adolecent as they were pushing my other teeth forward) on my jaw due to the stress of my family and work and Dr. Greg Gillespie glued it back together and told me it would be a permanant fix. Then it came apart . So when I called to tell him about the repair faling he told me I was wrong and refused to fix the problem, so I went to a clinic where the Dr. and his assistants actually know what they are doing. The Dr. Dentist there had to pull out the molar in 2 pieces as it was black from rot or infection. I could have died from an infection from this tooth and Dr. Greg Gillespie dismissed his mistake as if he can't be bothered with other peoples problems and demanded I bring cash money in to fix his mistake. I shall never even so much as speak to this man again let alone use his dental services. I see he surrounds himself with physically attractive women to make up for his lack of talent as a dentist. in my opinion Dr. Greg Gillespie is a mechanic not an artist. read more

I started going here a few months ago to have some neglected cavaties filled after a tooth broke exposing some bigger issues.They got me in right away and were flexible with MY schedule. Dr. Brad and both his dental girls are SO sweet and kind. They talk and joke with me, and remember things from previous conversations even. They make me feel like more than just a patient which is awesome because let's being honest, going to the dentist isn't usually the most fun experience... They're not rude and they don't up-sell and try to push silly things on me that I don't need. I even have recieved two voicemails from Dr. Brad after my fillings to make sure I wasn't in pain. I did not have a dentist in the Vancouver area because we are relatively new to the area. My jaw had started popping in and out of place and one day at lunch it would not go back into place. I called Dr. Gillespie's office and they got me in to see the doctor 30 minutes after my call. All of the staff was very professional and caring. Dr. Gillespie was very knowledgeable about my condition and so far his treatment has been exactly what I needed. He also is very informative and shares his knowledge. From the beginning I found their office and staff to be exceptional to the point I am considering transferring all of my dental care to this practice. Back to the main story- the sleep apnea treatment has been a phenomenal success. Imagine a good nights sleep every night after 50 years of sleep deficit. We recently moved to the area and needed a new dentist. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment to fill out the paperwork. Everyone up front was very nice. Several of the ladies shook my hand and introduced themselves. They called me back before it was even the official time for my appointment. His dental hygienist was great. She explained everything and answered a few questions for me that other dentists have not been able to. Once she was finished the dentist came in and went over all of my x-rays and pictures they had taken on a computer screen right in front of the dental chair. He didn't recommend any additional work. My insurance paid for the whole visit with no co-pay. I was out of the office in under an hour. I will definitely be going back in 6 months. read more

Today I participated in Gillespie's yearly Free Dental Day. We got there early, waited in line, and were treated with the upmost respect and top quality dental work. This staff is genuinely kind hearted, loving people and I can not thank them enough for everything they did for us today. The staff worked for free just to help the people who can not afford to get regularly dentist visits. My children got their teeth cleaned and my husband and I were able to get problem teeth taken care of. The staff worked so hard all day and they did everything with smiles on their faces. I don't go to the dentist very often. I violently shake from fear and anxiety pumped up on adrenaline. They were so quick and talked me through the process which helped ease my mind. Even though Dr. Brad worked quickly and swiftly my dental work is high quality. If it wasn't for the gaping hole I had in my tooth before I would have never been able to tell what he fixed. I have always hated going to the dentist and have had my share of problems with dental work in the past. This is the most friendly, welcoming, and professional place I have been to. I moved from Vancouver down to southwest Portland and now have dental insurance through my employer with Kaiser, but my experience was terrible with Kaiser and now gladly battle traffic and pay out of pocket to come to these guys. Their prices are very reasonable, especially considering the level of caring and quality work they perform. They explain things, are concerned for your comfort and confidence in them, and listen to your goals and concerns. I could go on, but most of all I thank them for their caring, professionalism, and accommodation. Other health professionals of all kinds would do well to emulate what these guys do. read more
