The food is AMAZING!!! Our server Deanna was AWESOME!! We loved every bite and the time we spent here!!

Review is regarding the newest location on Morro Bay Blvd Food is as good as ever! Calzone & Braciole were ordered. Both cooked perfectly & both sauces had to have been cooked all day long to be as good as they were. Our server said she'd been with DiStasio's since their Los Osos days. Costly Cold Food, and she asked me when i arrived to pickup my food; "what do you want?" Too top it off my order was canalized for the DoorDash order.... run, run fast! From these gypsy. So I couldn't tell you how it tasted, because I only ate some of what I paid for. Won't be back, I can get cold food cheaper from my Frigidaire. read more

My husband and I came in after 7pm and thought maybe we would be rushed, quite the contrary we stayed until after 9! Started with bacon wrapped scallops, very very good. I was intrigued by the specials.. but chose the Calzone which was also very good. My husband had shrimp broccoli alfredo. He ate every bite! All the while our waitress Dawn checked to be sure we were enjoying our meal. With her attentiveness and the beautiful background music, we left content. This was our 3rd visit but definitely not our last! read more

We had a wonderful dinner here, the staff was incredibly friendly and kind. We ate outside and the heaters kept us nice and warm. The owner came out and spoke with us, he is a very nice guy. If you are ever in this area I would definitely recommend for authentic Italian food. read more

We haven't been to a restaurant for five months and wow was this the right choice for a socially distanced first night back. We made a reservation and wore our masks and ate their delicious Italian food. The tables were nice and far apart, all the wait staff wore masks and they have outdoor seating too. read more

Lovely Italian food restaurant with great food and a relaxed atmosphere. We were fans of the restaurant at their old location overlooking the Embarcadero, but the new location on Morro Bay Boulevard is nicer in every aspect other than the view. It took a little while after the move to get back in their groove, but things are first rate now. Daily specials complement the already extensive menu. Don't miss their homemade vegetarian minestrone, easily the best such in the area. Patio seating on warm evenings and a central fireplace for cooler ones. read more

If you are a fish-and-chips fan this is one of the best I've ever had. I have had fish-and-chips all over the world. Do not miss out. Alfredo was great, Lasagna not so much. read more

Good atmosphere. Food tastes good. A little pricy but good. Enjoyed talking to owner

Service was OK, though the food a great disappointment. The pizza dough tasted like soft tacos, calamari subpar, somewhat rubbery and flavorless. They serve complimentary bread and butter. This bread tastes like frozen french baguette, reheated, dry to the taste. I brought this to the attention of the waitress and was told their bread is drier and harder than most. I was brought a new basket with bread directly from the oven, seemed reheated several times, and not any better. Terrible food. read more

The menu was very family-friendly and had lots of choices. Went twice (Feb & Nov 2017). The bruschetta was not very traditional: we liked it, though I didn't taste much garlic or any basil- it was more like roasted, vinegar-marinated tomatoes on crunchy bread... yet I liked it enough to order it again. The cannelloni was alright, the manicotti was not as great, and the butternut squash ravioli was good. The spaghetti, which I can recommend, is cooked well, and the meatball are hearty, but I wish there was more sauce. Our servers both times were friendly and attentive. Though they both have great views and a fireplace, the dining room isn't nearly as elegant, modern, and quiet as the recommended bar area. Well, it wasn't TOO elegant: "Let's Be Cops" was on the flatscreen. read more

Very elegant and cozy inside but the very reasonable prices don't reflect this at all. very friendly staff, but the topper was the owner coming over and having a conversation with us. Very kind man and you can tell he knows how to run a business right. Oh, and can't forget to mention the food was superb too!! read more

The food is delicious, i tried the ravioli, as well as the cheese sticks. As someone raised with Italian home cooking it's hard to find an authentic Italian place. I was quite satisfied with the experience. It surpassed my expectations. Service is good and the view is amazing. It didn't wow me but I'd definitely return again. read more

Service was great, our server had a good sense of humor and a good attitude. I ordered fish and chips, which was a little disappointing, but everyone else raves about the Italian dishes they ordered, so F&C might have been a strategic mistake. Being from warmer climes the outdoor seating was not quite great, but they soon produced a giant propane heater that warmed the entire 'hood, and a good time was had by all. read more

Found it by chance while checking out the area.. By far the most amazing Italian food I have ever had! Nothing I can think of even compares! We had calamari, chicken Alfredo, stuffed ravioli red and white sauce, lasagna and pepperoni pizza. The flavor is remarkable there is no generic taste found in this place! The couple at the table next to me when we were leaving stated that it was incredible! I hope everyone get the same experience we did this place is amazing! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Ordered take out since we had dogs back at the hotel, and went to pick it up. They were very busy but very accommodating (and one of the only fancy restaurants in town that offer take out option). Unfortunately due to our gluten and dairy allergies our orders aren't the easiest, and a mistake was made in the order (they accidentally put cheese on the pizza). While waiting for the new pizza to be cooked the owner (ken) was MORE than accommodating. Offered me deserts, refunds, drinks, etc while I wait. You can tell that they care about their customers and the food they make. Quality was amazing, and I can definitely say I'll be back!! So good. read more

Ok, to start off, I don't post reviews. I had to take the time to figure out how because this place deserves it. We have eaten at this place a handful of times in the past and have always enjoyed it. This was our first time at the new location farther away from the embarcadero, if you are walking it's a short walk and well worth it. I have gotten many different dishes in the past and I usually like something fun and a little different. This time I just got raviolis and spaghetti (50/50). My wife was worried, I have a reputation of expecting a lot when eating out and being very critical of the food. It did not disappoint! Their red sauce is great, the pasta was cooked perfectly. I have always enjoyed everything I've ordered. My wife loves the minestrone. The kids loved their pizza and spaghetti with a big 'ol meatball! Prices are great too. The reason I'm finally taking the time to post a review, typing with one finger on my cellphone in the dark while my wife and kids sleep in our hotel room is this: 1) Consistency, we've been coming to DiStasio's maybe once a year for the past 8 years or so. Always great. 2) They do not skimp on the kids plates! For a great price the kids get a quality plate. Not some after thought lame meal tossed together cause it's "just for the kids" (this often bothers me at other restaurants). The kids meals are treated with the same consideration the adult plates are. My wife and I love this. 3) Even Yelp reminds you before the reviewing process that one should keep Covid-19 in consideration when reviewing as things may not be completely up to normal standards. DiStasio's, thank you for making my family and I feel like COVID was not a factor for an evening. We were outside and it was a chilly night, but they had heaters set up. The service was great. The food was great. How nice it was to sit down and enjoy a meal with my family at a great restaurant. I wasn't sure if that was possible anymore! read more

I'm giving this restaurant 1 star because the food was very good. Unfortunately, the service was over priced and terrible. After being seated by an apathetic hostess, our server forgot our salads and soup and it took over an hour for our meal to be delivered after the drinks. Upon receipt of our check, we were informed that the restaurant's credit card server was down and we either had to go the bank and withdraw cash to pay for our check, or they would write down our card number and charge us at the end of the night. We will not be returning. Everyone was friendly but attention to detail and service were severely lacking. read more

If your mother or grandmother were italian (and a good cook) this is what you'd be eating. Solid good pasta dishes... i particularly like their basic tomato sauce... not too sweet, not too salty, not too tart.... as the baby bear said....juuust right!! The only dish I've had that I would not recommend is the calamari appetizer. I mentioned it to them and they said they're working on it. As Brian said, nice people, good service, great view. Definitely sit on the lower terrace if you can but anywhere's fine. Ciao e buon appetito! P.S. If you can't find street parking there are a couple public parking lots within a block. read more

Dined here on 5/22/15. The place was a ghost town at 6:30 pm on a Friday/holiday weekend, that should have been a sign. I cook for our family and I can throw down some mean Italian food . I had a girlfriend who was from Sicily and she taught me tons about Italian cuisine. . "DiStasio's Special" Calzone Includes 6 toppings-mushroom, salami, onion, pepperoni, green peppers, black olives $12.50 I could not find even one piece of salami. The Cazone was very small and maybe 1 inch thick. It had the flavor of being frozen. The Marinara sauce was very bland. Not worth $12.50. I make homemade Calzone and Marinara from scratch and this was not it. The dinner salad was fresh but the dressing was very bland with no hint of seasoning at all. Miss Mari had the Butternut Ravioli and liked it , the sauce was very rich and tasty. The staff was very attentive and the view was beautiful. This place could rock with the prime location but food is a priority in a restaurant. Two stars for the view and the staff. read more

I got introduced to DiStasio's years ago and my husband and I were both forever hooked. Great prices, wonderful food. I do miss the Los Osos location (it was just so warm and cozy!), but I haven't had a chance to check the new place in Morro Bay yet. Very highly recommend getting a side sausage or meatball if you order something without. A little different every time but both are always amazing! As for the bread, I don't know why all the complaints, I love it!! It is a drier crusty bread but that is particularly why I enjoy it. Tortellini Con Quattro Formaggio is my absolute favorite, and its usually a toss up between that and the special. My husband is just really hoping they bring back the Low Carb plate for the new place (he always orders it with a side of pasta!) Atmosphere is very nice without being overly done. I don't always want to get dressed up just to eat out, and I have always been treated good no matter how I was dressed. If you plan on going with a large group, as with any restaurant, I recommend you make reservations. read more

Just tried DiStasio's new location this weekend, it was fabulous! My parents have gone several times (while they were working the kinks out of the new local) and even then...they have never been disappointed with the food. We took our 2 young children and 3 adults...each of my picky eaters eat everything on their plates. I was very impressed! I have to say, I was even impressed with the new bathrooms...very nice! They just opened up a new wine bar last night that is attached and I can't wait to sit and look out at the ocean! The wine bar sever was very friendly and someone I felt I could ask a lot of "wine questions" to and I woundn't feel silly! This has already become a favorite local place for my parents and I can't wait to visit again! Great job on the new location DiStasio's!!! read more

The smell of the garlic bread wafting out of the restaurant drew us in! We were not disappointed! That sat 10 of us on a busy weekend in under a half an hour. Distasio's On The Bay - The garlic bread is AMAZING!!! - Italian Near Me - Morro Bay, California

Ahhhh! I HATE doing this! Since my original post 2 years ago we've visited Distasio's several more times and have found that the quality of food and services has been slowly declining. Then, last week we had our absolute worst experience there to date: We called to make a reservation and were told they were no longer taking reservations for parties of less than 5. I thought that was strange and crossed my fingers that we'd get a table. We were coming all the way from Paso to be there and were celebrating a job promotion! Thank goodness, we get there and the place is nearly empty (at 645...on a weekend, should have been a sign that things weren't what they used to be). We're seated and the first thing we notice is the temperature in the dining room. It is sweltering and humid. The few other guests sitting near us are fanning themselves with their menus as the owner lowers the blinds (ruining our view of the water!) We order the bacon wrapped scallops that claim to be served with a lemon garlic sauce. When it's ready, we see the waitress take it to the wrong table. They explain to her that they didn't order an appetizer...so she takes it and walks passed us again, taking it to another table! She finally get's it right and we dig in. Although the flavors were great (I mean...bacon wrapped anything is great, right?) there was absolutely NO trace of this delicious sauce. The scallops are DRY and placed on some wiltes lettuce. A total disappointment, as we were served all this bread with nothing to sop up. My meal came with a salad, which arrived after the appetizer. The "dinner salad" as it was listed on the menu, had mixed greens, olives, tomatoes, carrots and peppers. The salad that arrived was soaking wet iceberg lettuce, no tomatoes, some shredded cabbage and carrots and one pickled pepper. It was awful and not even close to what was listed on the menu. My husband ordered the "shredded beef crepes." When those arrive they are ALSO not at all what they claim to be on the menu. Instead of tender shredded beef, there is cheap cheap cheap ground beef inside them. We don't eat ground beef at home and we were certainly not at all interested in eating it in an almost 30 dollar dish at a nice restaurant. I ordered the special, chicken stuffed with ham and cheese with pasta in cream sauce with more ham, artichoke hearts and tomatoes. Oh, I was in HEAVEN. It was delicious and rich and comforting....I wanted to finish the entire thing...until I saw the HAIR. A coarse, giant black hair. Just on the rim of my plate. As disgusted as I was, my husband convinced me that it wasn't a big deal. I'd enjoyed it so much that we decided not to complain about a hair that wasn't even touching my food. So we get the bill and I'm already thinking this was sort of a crappy dining experience. My special, which was listed at $19.99 actually cost us 25 bucks. Wouldn't normally care because it was actually yummy but, for goodness sakes. You really want your guests to be able to trust you. If the menu says they are getting one thing, you'd better deliver. After this awful experience, we just unfortunately cannot keep referring people here and we will never be able to come back. read more

Small place...like 10 tables. Food was excellent. Everything had a great flavor. Only 1 waitress so things aren't kept up on at the table but I gavethem 5 stars anyway cause she works and tries real hard! If I come to morro bay again. I would return:-) read more

What a great new location for DiStasio's! You have to try the Tomato Gorgonzola soup. It's completely amazing, even if you (like me) don't really like blue cheese. The chicken marsala isn't your typical recipe--the sauce is thin and it's served over pasta. It's good, though--the chicken was cooked PERFECTLY. I have to say, though, get the pizza. The crust is thin and crispy, there's a good amount of cheese, and the toppings are higher quality than your usual pizza fare. I love the staff, too. My recommendation: have a drink at Bella Vino's, the wine bar next door, then stop by for some soup and pizza. :) read more

Several years ago I came to DiStasio's old location for dinner with my family. We were all very disappointed and the restaurant landed one of my very few one-star reviews. Now they've moved from Los Osos to Morro Bay and I'm very happy to say the food quality and service have both improved at least ten fold! Their old location was a small, cozy place overlooking the water, but mostly all I could remember was my sister's burnt-to-a-crisp calzone and my extremely bland pasta. But, like I said, everything has gotten much, much better. The eatery is now a couple blocks from the water but luckily it also sits on a hill, so the view is still great. When we were led to our table, the hostess was sweet and talkative and our server was, somehow, even nicer. He took the time to explain his favorite dishes on the menu as well as list off the specials of the night. Even though we were off to a good start, the real test was the food. Surprisingly, this time I ordered the DiStasio's Special calzone (mushrooms, salami, sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, and black olives). This calzone, while a little doughy inside, was leaps and bounds ahead of the one my sister had ordered three years ago. Each bite was delicious and full of flavor. I also tried bites of a few other pastas and each one was nicely seasoned with noodles that were cooked just right. Whatever DiStasio's did to up their game obviously worked. We all left happy and with doggy bags to eat the next day. It's safe to say that this place has now become a destination spot for the next time we have a craving for good Italian food! read more

Got the particular night special.. Penne a la vodka Very very good .. Surprisingly good.. The service however was soooo slow The dinner salad that came with the special.. Not so great .. For a Italian restaurant you would think u could get caeser salad instead and the bread was not so great either.. Good thing our pasta was a hit because with the equation of the pasta .. Slow service .. Basic salad .. Good wine .. It summed up to 3 stars.. Absolutely beautiful view though and it looks like the wine bar was nice !!!! read more

I found this place here on Yelp while out of town with my boyfriend this past weekend. We decided to give it a try since it was open the latest out of the other restaurants we wanted to try. As other reviewers stated this place is SMALL. Everyone is pretty much packed together inside and waiter's sometimes bump into you while bringing plates around. The service was the worst thing out of our experience. While waiting to get seated, there was another couple ahead of us and they took the last 2 seater table outside on the deck dining room. The waitress looked at us and asked how many people were in our party, we let her know it was just us 2, she sighed and said she'd be right back. We waited there for about 10 minutes just standing around waiting for someone to come back and seat us. Finally I just went in there and caught the attention of a rude waitress and told her we were still waiting to get seated. She said she'd have to seat us in a 4 seater table, which was fine by me. - The food is delicious. My boyfriend ordered the baked lasagna and I ordered the Artichoke Rigatoni with a Cesar salad, both were so delicious. The only complaint I have regarding food is that the bread is HORRIBLE, it's cut in a weird manner where you're basically tearing the "loaf" into shreds just to be able to get yourself a decent sized piece. - Price is okay. We expected to pay a little more then usual. It IS Morro Bay. I'd go back, but hopefully by then they've improved on their courtesy read more
