Well in reality I thought "this is what I get for not backing up and always meaning to set up a cloud backup but didn't make the time" My computer with 7 years of pictures and videos of family came up with the dreaded BLUE SCREEN and gave hard drive errors. I first took it to a local fix it guy but no luck - he could not fix the drive or recover anything but was careful with my drive and claimed the data is on the platters of the hard drive and that I had to take it to a disk recovery place and it would be expensive. DISK DOCTORS recovered EVERYTHING about 40,000 photos and videos. I couldn't believe how all the photo and video files added up over the years. Well I must say that I thought Disk Doctors in Norcross GA did a fabulous job at a fair price and was VERY understanding and genuinely cared about me and my precious pictures / data. I dropped it off and within 2 weeks Disk Doctors recovered everything and put it on an external drive for me. I promptly went home with the external drive and loaded about 40,000 photos and videos on a couple other home computers and then setup a cloud based backup ASAP. So now I have external backup drives at home and cloud based backup at home (in case of a fire or something) for 3 computers and an external hard drive. I GOT VERY LUCKY and these guys made the difference. You don't realize how precious these pictures and videos of your family are until you almost lose them! Our kids are now young people and love looking at themselves as kids. I am thinking about having 2 cloud based backup services to run backup of my pictures instead of one. It is so cheap why not? I heard was nothing they can't recover so I took my damaged drive to them. Guess What??? They recovered everything, gave me a new drive for the damaged one with all my pictures and documents intact . So now I say that they come VERY highly recommended. read more

First of all I would like to point out that it is my fault that I dropped my hard drive and I have fully made peace with the fact that Disk Doctors couldn't recover my data. That's not what I have a problem with, it's their customer service. I was willing to drop $1600 to get the data recovered off my hard drive. I assumed that I would receive good customer service as I was referred to this company by a friend of a friend. That was not the case. I mailed my Western Digital hard drive in to Disk Doctors in early July. The process was estimated to take around 10-14 days plus or minus a few if a part was needed. At times I was told it was partially recovered and would be fully recovered by the following Monday. When I was finally told that my data was unrecoverable I asked for them to mail my hard drive back. This was three to four weeks ago and I still do not have my hard drive. Every time I call they say they'll mail it that day and never follow through. I'm worried that they're going to claim it was "unclaimed" and just never mail it back. Even though I've claimed it multiple times. If they had been able to recover the data that I lost (portfolio for school, etc) I might have forgiven some of the customer service. But after an ongoing two month process I am sick of it. It is ridiculous. Personally, I will never do business with them again and wanted to inform others that if they are seeking data recovery services the headache they are in for. Frankly, they do not deserve 1 star, but that's the minimum I can give them. read more
