During a 40 minute telephone conversation, Paul explained & broke down high tech terms to inform me why the indoor system would not work & told me that my house is 53.7 miles from the Ch5 signal on the CN Tower. Described in great detail the advantages of an outdoor system I decided to go with WNYCable as the price was fair & Paul installed it in a couple of days. The picture I receive on Ch5 is outstanding,almost appears 3-D, much better than any channel I receive on Verizon. There are also numerous other channels that are of high quality. We moved a while ago and had to get TWC. A few weeks ago I saw an ad in the Bee newspaper about "cutting the cord" from WNYCable, I checked their website, saw they had a special going, so I called them. The person I spoke with seemed extremely knowledgeable and I set up an appointment to talk. I was tired of paying over $150.00 a month for TV. Hundreds of channels and we only watch about 6 or 7 of them it's just nuts. I need the internet for work, kids need it for school, I mean who doesn't use the internet but why do I have to pay for all the channels I never watch? Wnycable did a quick site survey and explained all my options, costs and savings, no pressure, just information. I watch A&E, TBS, TNT, ESPN, History and CNN for news and Showtime for the movies and original shows. My wife likes Lifetime, Food Network, Travel Channel and HGTV. The kids watch Disney and Cartoon. We found out we could get those channels and a few other nice ones like Bloomberg, Adult Swim, IFC and AMC, (Breaking Bad right?) for just $20.00 a month with my internet connection. That's it! Twenty bucks, no other charges for what we like to watch. Other channel packages are available for $5.00 per month. We purchased a system from them and a Roku from the Wnycable website and that was it. Wnycable set up everything, it was very simple. We are all big hockey fans here so we also got the system for the Canadian channels too, HELLO Hockey Night in Canada in REAL HDTV! It looks like the players are in my living room. I don't know why but the system they installed has the best HDTV I've ever seen, TWC never looked this good. The guy said it was something to do with them smashing 3 channels in where only 2 should be and it's not true HD with the others even though you pay for it. Whatever it is, it's better, a lot better. We added Showtime for about 11 bucks and the whole system is amazing. Almost like an added bonus we also get hundreds of free streaming channels on our Roku, movies, news, sports, everything. I found a bunch of free movie channels and watched Rollerball the other night with James Caan, it was great and it was free. I actually get more now and pay a lot less for it. All I kept from TWC was the internet and that cost about $40.00. $20.00 for the basic channels on my Roku, $11.00 for Showtime and I cut the cord. Now I save over $84.00 a month, that's more than $1000.00 a year. Yeah, life is good.

I am trying to calm down because the tactics that Direct TV use are illegal. They charge credit/debit cards without prior authorization. Try and file a complaint against them with the Attorney General or the BBB. Useless. I just got charged $60.00 on my debit card. I don't have their service. Never had. Had to jump through hoops to get this removed. Cancelled my cards and am waiting for new ones to arrive. Similar experience several years ago while trying to close out a family member's account. The account was charged after MONTHS of close and personal talk via landline. I don't wish to get into the deets however the employees of this company lie to suit their quota needs. File a complaint with the FCC. Next on my list.

And then from your email: $40 deposit that we do apply towards that repair. So why didn't I get my deposit back? Especially if the film, in conjunction with the backlight, was a KNOWN ISSUE. I dropped the TV off Tuesday, 11/14. Was told I'd get a call with an update. I CALLED on 11/20 and was told he'd check on it and give me a call right back. I HAD TO CALL AGAIN, on 11/27 (AFTER BLACK FRIDAY WHEN I WOULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET A GOOD PRICE ON A TV IF I KNEW I NEEDED ONE!) to check on it as NOBODY called ME - and at that time you told me about the KNOWN ISSUE of the film THAT ALWAYS HAPPENS WITH THESE TYPE OF BACKLIGHT ISSUES - and it was recommended that it wouldn't be worth the repair as it would not result in a good picture on the tv. You offered to recycle the TV for me or I could come pick it up. I came to pick it up and was told I wouldn't get the deposit back...WHY NOT? It is a deposit, that as you state, goes toward the repair...I was advised against the repair - so refund my deposit. If, at any time, you had said - I don't know, maybe even when you sent the "free quote" - backlight issues are notorious (Like almost 100% of the time) for having a film that melts and prevents a quality repair - we can take a look at it for $40, OR there's a $40 fee, or it's really not a free quote as it will cost you $40 - that would be a different situation. But that's not what you said - you said, again in your email "$40 deposit that we do apply towards that repair". Since we paid in cash - please send a check for $40. The worst customer service I've ever had. I just wanted to turn my new phone on. I was on the phone…read morefor 3 1/2 hours with them not only on hold but getting yelled at. I submitted a complaint and they finally got ahold of me about a week later and she said she'd call me back after she figured it out (my phone was locked I got it refurbished from Walmart) and she never called me back! I recorded the interactions they were so bad. I was in tears. All that for them to say they can't turn my phone on due to me buying through Walmart and not them. They also told me I couldn't get my phone on unless I bought their at home internet as well. Then when I said something about them not getting back to me and how awful I was treated they replied with "case closed"..... I'm not a Karen.. I never complain and I'm patient but I've never delt with customer service like this before. One after another just awful either didn't have a clue or were extremely rude. It's not even about my phone getting turned on cause I understand but the customer service was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I'll never recommend to anyone.
