Dish could not provide consistent service. We tried with technical support many times. Requested to cancel contract due to non-performance. They still charged $524.00 after first 30 days of service after failing to perform. At the same time, I turned off autopay and removed payment to pay out the balance over a few months. Dish charged the full amount without authorization. This company is desperate for cash and cuts corners in which they cannot deliver consistent service. Also their User Interface is the worst. We had Dish Network for years & had a promo credit added about 2 years but once that promo ended the price consistently increased in $5 increments until we were paying $122 a month. That's when we decided that our 8 channels that we consistently watch wasn't worth paying for and I called to cancel service. We paid the final bill or I thought it was the final bill. Then 10 days later we get a bill for $22 and I reached out by chat and was told it was for shipping labels & the return box which I didn't ask to be sent out. We had already used the shipping labels that were sent by email and our own box to return the equipment in. And was told that the $22 was a valid charge and wouldn't be waived. Would I use Dish again? Nope, nada, absolutely not and will I recommend Dish.........NO. read more

Maybe the worst tv service ever. They sign you to a two year contract that only you must adhere to. They are free to change, delete channels and to raise your monthly rates of which they have done both to me. Customer service is non existent. Picture quality and reliability is spotty at best. I had been with DirecTV for 7 years and hated having to hassle with them every year to lower my bill to a price I was willing to pay. It was the same thing every year, call them up and tell them that my bill was too high and then they would enact some discounts that would save me about $30 a month but were only good for a year. So the next year I'd have to call them up and do it all over again. Well last November when I called to complain about my bill they refused to lower the rate. I guess that now they're a part of AT&T they are unwilling to negotiate on price. So I decided to try switching to DISH. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! DISH suckers you in with their low initial rate but then once you add in extra packages to get what you want it ends up costing MUCH more. I believe their current introductory package starts off at $39. Sounds pretty good right? But wait, you want local channels? Well that's not included. You have to pay an extra $10 a month for that. Who the hell doesn't want local channels?!?! You want a DVR? That's extra also. You have 2 TV's? Yep there's an extra charge for that too. So my monthly bill ended up being $70 a month. That's quite a jump from $39 but still better than I was getting with DirecTV so I decided to go for it. The phone operator told me about the 2 year contract and I told him, "Hey wait a minute. I'm not signing up for 2 years when I haven't even tried your service out yet." I forget what he told me exactly but he definitely gave me the impression that I could cancel if I didn't like the service. When the DISH installer came out to set up my equipment I also asked him about a trial period and he told me I had 30 days to cancel. So everything was going OK until the day of the Super Bowl. We missed the end of the game so I tried to find highlights on ESPN only to find out the package I had did not include ESPN!!!! I called up DISH and was told, "If you want sports channels, that's an extra $10 a month." Gimme a break. What a scam! So now I'd have to pay $80 a month for pretty much basic cable. No pay channels like HBO. I just wanted the standard stuff like Food Network, HGTV, ESPN. So the next higher package was $84 a month and included ESPN but took away DIY and Cooking Channel!!!!! How frickin lame!!! So now I wasn't saving money over DirecTV anymore and decided to cancel the service. I had DISH send out the installer to remove their DISH and take their boxes back. To top it all off now they're trying to charge me a $500 early termination fee even though 2 people at their company told me their was a trial period!! I have filed a complaint with the Denver Better Business Buereau and I will be taking DISH to small claims court if they refuse the waive the fee. Stay far away from this company people. Their channel packages are completely predatory and set up so that the only way you can get the channels you want is to pay for the expensive plans. read more

Dish in a dispute with local station removed FOX channel. Missing Sunday football! When I asked how they are compensating the paying costumers they responded with $5.00 off my bill starting this month. Why should I have to call you to get the discount? This should be an automatic discount. And no they will not give me the NFL channel, I would need to upgrade for an additional $35.00 / month. I'd like to say something about Dish, first DISH SUCKS! 3 tv's DVR W/ Hopper?? Never had such a bad Cable Company! Every time I turn around the freaking DVR changes my channel WTF? Watching a program then all a sudden ((If not watching for a few minutes)) It changes to THE FIRST 48!! The tv in the bedroom when you try to go to the guide, it goes to ON DEMAND Any way after it goes to the first 48 and I try to go back To the channel it goes to all the different TUNERS and it takes an act of Congress to go back to the channel I was watching!! Called tech support and they told me I have to go in and free up a TUNER again WTF? I don't want to have to go in and free up anything!! And why does it change channels ((Tech Support)) this is their answer! The DVR is made that way when all the TUNERS are busy??? I HATE DISH!! NOW this burns my Ass of all cable companies, I believe, why do they charge for LOCAL CHANNELS? 2,5,7,9,11 and 13? Today I called DISH to exchange the DVR for the regular cable, I didn't believe this! They said if I exchange boxes I'd have to sign another contract for 24 months, OR! I can purchase the equipment.. are you kidding? I want to get rid of the equipment((DA)) bottom line is I'm definitely getting rid of DISH! Believe it or not you can pick up most of the channels you get with dish and some they don't offer with RABBIT EARS and for HUGHS NET they do throttle down the speed after you use up your data, I've had it go down to 25K that really sucks! Then they want you to upgrade to a more expensive plan! Well guess what when you use up your Data it throttles down anyway. I called Hughes Net told them I'm going to cancel they said I'd have to pay a cancellation fee? I never signed a contract with Hughs Net! Told them to produce the contract, they said it was Verbal? Play it for me! They can't! Evan their Corporate Office can't produce it. Guess what, I'm not paying a cancellation fee! They say in their commercial no limit on Hard Data? Who cares!! I have had to pay for The Dish Internet Satellite service that I am unable to receive for 8 months now. I have tried calling and explaining that when I moved into these apartments, I was allowed only one Satellite (It takes an additional Satellite from Hughes Net to receive Satellite service). Each time I call the phone call ends with, "There is nothing we can do. You signed a contract." I have been paying $60 per month for absolutely NOTHING. As a 100% disabled Veteran on Social Security and that is devastating to me. Dish is aware of my circumstances and doesn't care. I will never get satellite Internet from The Dish ever again and, when my current Satellite service contract is up, I will never renew or get The Dish again. I encourage others to do the same. I recently contacted Dish TV about getting a package deal for TV service and also internet (which they bundled through Hughes. Net). A Dish representative came out and set up both the TV and internet. He explained I would have both; it was a 2 year contract and didn't explain that the internet plan was a "data plan" -mostly used with cell phones. Residential areas mainly need 'speed' plans due to different requirements. Computer internet usage in residential areas is often determined by Windows upgrading itself or security updates or even streaming on TVs. I use my internet for both my computer and TV (and even my house phone). They never said that after 10 GB of data, my internet speed would go down to 1 mb/s - slow enough that most items won't work properly. The box that Dish set up with the "bundle" and my computer went through my data in just 1 day and for the rest of the month I'm at 1 Mb/s; my phone has a 1 second delay for anyone talking (not only hard to talk but using 911 is a major concern) and Netflix will not stream any movies. I tried numerous times to figure out why I have slow internet. When I contacted Hughes.net, they told me to disconnect my TV box and my computer...I asked what was the point in having internet if everything is disconnected. They then tried to sell me a higher data plan. O course, any 'data' plan would have the same issue and they wanted more money. When I tried to terminate my plan, they said there would be a termination fee even though hey set up a bad product for my situati9on. Dish and Hughes.net knowingly set me up in a bad contract and won't rectify the situation. I want to terminate all business wish both Dish TV and Hughes.net and NOT have a termination fee. Dish network is focused on strong arming their customers to keep unwanted features. They falsly quote other cable company's prices as a means to keep you locked in to over paying cable features.
