Been a customer for seven years now. And all I can say is: WOW! Been dealing w/these people for days now trying to get my TV to work. Spent 3hrs on phone + another 4hrs on phone + then 9hrs waiting for a technician who never showed up, then another 2 hrs on the phone asking why he never came (I took the entire day off work for them NOT to even show up???)--then another 2 hours waiting for them to figure out where he is the ONE FINAL HOUR before we simply hung-up and dropped DIRECT TV altogether (7 of those hours I was sitting on HOLD, twice the bozo agents disconnected the call "accidentally"). If I could give Directv a zero, I would. We have been with them for only four months. We were promised a $150 Visa Gift Card as a promo, never got it. We were told we were being given 3 months of free movie channel. No one told us that we needed to call and cancel that before the three months was over or we would get billed. No one told us that NFL package was $65 x 6! They told us we were getting it for free with a promo. Our service is in and out. The main tv logs out of WiFi with no notice and it take about 10minutes to log back in. We have had so many service interruptions I can't even count. The. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. When not on contracted they kept raising my bill and I had to keep calling to get it reduced. I cancelled my service they owe me over 267 in refund its been 8 weeks and nothing. Everytime I call they claim they have no escalation team and the refund should have been sent to me in 7 days they have no idea why I dint have it . I have called 15 times changes number changed address. Prior to this I was going to get new service but was quoted different prices and offered 300 visa cards then told that was only after I got the most wxpensive plan. When I called the number on the email it would repeatedly hang up on me when I selected cancel the install. Called the sales number and was told I had definitely scheduled the install, and was then hung up on. After four calls, finally was able to cancel the install. When we moved to Santa Fe, we signed up for a "bundle" that was supposed to include Direct TV plus internet and phone from Centurylink, all for $99/month, "locked in" for 3 years. I verified this rate multiple times over the phone before signing up. Our first bill was for $154. The second bill was for $229. This is not what we signed on for. Direct TV tells us it will cost almost $500 to cancel our contract walk away. In my opinion, Direct TV should be prosecuted like an extortion racket or any other criminal enterprise. I signed up online and never selected any "Protection Plan", which is $5.99/month to basically save you $49 if they need to come and repair their own equipment. I received a confirmation from them, which didn't have any "Protection Plan" on it. I reviewed the first bill, which didn't have any "Protection Plan". However, now 5 months later, I noticed that they had started charging me for this optional service that I never requested in the second month. Charging you for worthless and unwanted features like this is a pretty obvious scam, one that I know old telephone companies used to do as well. I called and requested not only canceling the plan but a credit all the way back to the beginning. "Karen" said she'd have to research it, and later that she could only credit it for 3 months. I objected and finally got them to credit me for all 5 months, but she gave me some lecture about "taking advantage of the service" and how I should have checked my bills! The nerve of them to fraudulently charge me for an optional feature that I never requested - and that they hid from me on the confirmation and on the first month's bill - and then lecture me about "taking advantage" of them! I suspect this fraud is happening to others and could be grounds for a class action lawsuit. If you find this charge on your bill and you didn't ask for it, stay on the phone for as long as it takes to get a full refund. If they refuse, start a chargeback with your credit card, as it's obvious fraud on their part. read more

I have had Directv for 15 yrs. I've been happy with the service for most of this time. I only recently began to observe that I use my streaming services - Hulu & Netflix more than directv. I called customer service just to see if they plan on making any adjustments to be more competitive with these other services that have popped up at a much more attractive price. Their response was "we realize you have other choices out there". I think these cable/satellite companies are going to go the way of blockbuster videos if they don't come around to the reality of current viewing options available to the consumer. read more

LIARS! I googled Direct TV and I should've avoided this company from what I read but decided to call them anyway. They flat out lied to me about the cost of their services and Century Links prices also. After calling Century Link to schedule my appointment I found out that it would cost $59 plus a $99 modem instead of the $29 Direct TV quoted for installation. I called Direct TV back to ask about it and then found out they lied to me about the 2nd year of the contract also. What should've been a total of $148 for both TV and internet after their 3 month promotion turned out to be over a $160 for just the TV services alone. They offered me a $100 credit for my inconvenience and I agreed to downsize my package but after reading the Yelp reviews I think it would be wise to cancel everything before they come out. I have had directv for years in my short term rental property. About ten months ago my new tenant said he didn't watch tv and I could cancel the service to save money. I called direct tv and they said, don't cancel, just suspend your account and when you reactivate we will put your bill at $5.60 from $80. Wonderful I said! The account was supposed to reactivate hthis coming June 30. In April they charged me $11 and a $5 late fee. They apparently reactivated without my permission. So then they suspended it again, but they don't know who could have possibly offered me $5.60. They said they would credit the $15 I was charged. They didn't do it. In fact, they reactivated it and charged me $70...even though I told them to cancel it! So now, I am expected to pay $85 for a service I'm canceling. They say they can't fix it because the computer was programmed to charge me automatically when they instructed it to cancel my account. They said no one could help. They claim to have "escalate" it. But people there keep saying they will call and they never do. I haven't had a contract in years. How did I go from a suspended account to being charged $85 just to cancel. Horrible customer service! I probably talked to 5 different people and spent a total of 3 hours on the phone. A total waste of time! I think it's fraud. So, for the 2nd time in a year, my DIRECTV service, equipment and system completely failed. While they dispatched techs the same day, it took the 1st crew 4+ hours to temporarily fix service only to fail completely again the next morning. The escalated service tech found that the 1st crew improperly installed equipment. So not only did DIRECTV equipment fail but the techs (who are subcontractors- Mostec) improperly installed equipment causing failure. Please Fios, come to Santa Fe. We are paying way too much for this service and soon will jettison in favor of sling TV and Amazon and AppleTV apps. read more

Terrible service in Santa Fe. Problems every year with reception. I had the "protection" plan, and they informed me on my last problem that it would be more than 10 days before they could come out but they would not charge me during that time, but if I wanted to disconnect, I would pay a penalty. Well I paid the penalty, got a Leaf antenna for $60 on time charge and Sling for $40 month. I have all the channels I watched before. But the story doesn't end there. They had my credit card to make the final penalty payment, but did not do it. Evidently, their rep was not familiar with the final payment procedures. Three months later I heard from a bill collector. Their mistake but no apology. Funny how they can call you every week to upgrade your packages, but there is no such call if there is a problem with billing. This is a no service company. read more

I have never had bad customer service from DirecTV until now and boy did they roll all those years into one incident. I booked an appointment to get the Genie upgrade and scheduled my appointment for Saturday 8-12. I confirmed it 4 different times and I even looked it up on my account. Saturday came and no call from the technician so I called to see when he would be there and they told me my appointment was 12-4. I don't know how it got moved and I wasn't even notified. We arranged our whole schedule around the morning appointment. When I got upset, but kept my cool, the first woman transferred me to a supervisor and that's when I lost it. She was rude and basically said that was the way it was, my appointment was always 12-4 and she would call the local office to see if could get me in that morning. She acted like she didn't care and pretty much called me a liar. I asked to speak with her supervisor and I held a long time but I wasn't giving up. Finally another supervisor got on the line and said she would let her supervisor know. I had to call back to return a phone call to find out when the technician would be out there. I wanted to hurry so I didn't miss him and the man I spoke with didn't listen to what I needed so I was frustrated again, then he told me my time was 2-6 now. I couldn't believe the trouble I was having. He was very rude also. I just hung up and fortunately I received a call from the technician and he worked with me on the time. He was great. I couldn't believe how difficult it was to get an upgrade. A follow up phone call from someone would have gone a long way to restore my faith in Directv, but no phone call. I can say one thing, if anything like this happens again, I will be switching. The only reason why I am not is because it's the first major ordeal I've had with them and the technician saved the appointmet. read more
