TLDR: Great coffee drinks, pastries, and vibes. So good I returned the next day to show my parents. Went for a coffee date with a friend and wife and ordered the Channel Orange, Violently Stoned, and Motorhead. Channel Orange was my favorite and then violently stoned and then motorhead. You could surprisingly notice the pork fat flavor in the motorhead. The violently stoned had a nice heat kick and the peach was a nice side treat. Channel Orange was a nice balanced drink and the salt was a nice addition to the drink. My mom, a hard to impress mom, enjoyed this drink as well. I tried the moonwater day 2 and enjoyed about half of it then it became too sweet for my taste. It appears that the menu rotates and I'm excited to return some day when I visit Milwaukee again. Discourse is one of the most unique coffee shops I've ever been to! Their seasonal/experimental menu always is a great experience (although not always coffee based). The Radio Milwaukee location is a very cool space with records and a decent amount of seating. Baristas are always available to answer questions. Cute place with hip vibes. On the pricier side when it come to a cup of coffee but you're getting handmade craft drinks with really good bases. The pastries were amazing, we got the creme pie croissant, almond croissant, grilled cheese, and lox bagel. One thing we noticed was there was a LOT of cream cheese on the lox bagel but it was still very filling and tasty. I have never thought of changing my travel plans for a drink. That is until I had the Lana Del Fog. I like to think of myself as a London fog connoisseur as I get them consistently. Beautiful space! Such a change from the Discourse I spend many an hour staring at a laptop, near the engineering school. HUGE! There is a stage in the back for activities that occur on stages and even more seating space. The baristas are super friendly. The space is welcoming and invited. It was quite busy when I stopped by on a late Saturdays morning. I had my basic iced oat milk latte, so I didn't try anything food-wise. For craft coffees, this is THE spot to go to! I checked this place out and was blown away by every detail. First, the space was unbelievable, with so many different elements incorporated that worked so well together. There was a buzz of excitement from everyone clearly enjoying their time here that was infectious but the back room felt more relaxed with people reading, working & talking more quietly. It was fun looking through the albums, at the art on the wall and the unique items for sale too. My eyes didn't stop looking around the entire time I was enjoying my coffee... which was also an experience like no other! Grabbing a counter seat by window, I took a moment to admire the skillfully prepared channel orange before taking a sip.... and the flavors were very well balanced, just enough orange with the black lava salt being an absolutely amazing addition to the latte, taking it to a whole other level. I also fully appreciated the uniquely different cups served for different drinks. We didn't get a chance to try the baked goods or other food but those are on the list for next time. Where has this place been hiding? How incredibly cute! This is a great place to come to work, meet a friend, or go on a date. Both inside and outside have incredibly cozy vibes. I was so overwhelmed by all of the amazing drink options, that I let multiple people go ahead of me, but the baristas were helpful in sharing their favorites and narrowing down what would be best based on my desire to have something less caffeinated and sweet that day. I opted for the Lana Del Fog which is an earl grey tea with oat milk, n/a amaretto, vanilla syrup, orange bitters, and flamed orange oil. It even comes in the cutest little cup and saucer. Stopped into Discourse Coffee, for the second time, on a Saturday late morning. My husband and I ordered three drinks, a piece of cake and a sandwich. The total with tip was about $40. I wish I would have timed the wait. My husband was able to get and eat his entire sandwich and side salad before our drinks were started. Because of that, he told me he is not willing to return to your location. On our previous visit, I had the Flora latte and that was amazing. (I did not care for my drink this time.) With the amount of time you have to wait, though, I am not certain that I'll go back either. I get that Discourse is an experience. It's not your average coffee shop. But I did hear another patron complain about how long their drink was taking, and they arrived after us. I would estimate I got our drinks after 30 minutes. I told my husband to wait in the car at about the 25 minute mark. I honestly don't understand. I love the concept, the unique flavors, the glassware and dishes, and the interior design. First I would like to say the drinks were very good. I got an iced chai with matcha and it was delicious. However, be prepared to wait. My boyfriend and I both ordered food and we were told there would be about a 15-20 minute wait for food which is fine. We didn't end up getting our food for almost 45 minutes later and it was cold when we got it. There was one person making the food was in no rush a to get food ready and no one around was bothered to help her. Coffee and presentation is amazing! This is an adventurous coffee experience that, to my knowledge, is unparalleled anywhere else in Milwaukee.
