Very disappointed in my last dealing at Discount Tire, Pflugerville, TX. Discount Tire let me down for the last time. I won't return. I purchased a set of wheel covers along with new tires the the last week in September. They placed the order on their P.O.S. (Point of Sale) device at the counter. They asked me to pay upfront. I did pay by debit card, on the promise of five day delivery. I followed up every seven days for six weeks, once reordering. Yesterday, I cancelled the order and asked for a refund when the service writer could not even verify the order had ever been placed. Next, the store could not credit my debit card or give me cash, because a "new P.O.S." sytem had been installed two weeks ago and crediting my card was no longer an option with the new system. The only mode of refund was a corporate check by snail mail. I was asked to wait out the check delivery for up to 14 days. The new P.O.S. failed to take into account the needs of this paying customer, twice botching the order and then its inability to credit my card with the refund. My experience pointed to two meanings for the Discount Tire P.O.S. Beware of the very limited capabilities of ordering and antiquated refund abilities at Discount Tire in this digital age. Everything was badly tilted against this paying customer. I will never return. P.S. the company replied to this post with an offer to rectify at a link. Again this company displayed its ignorance of the unreasonably miniscule limits of the technology it employess. The link was dead. I was unable to copy/ paste it. Again, thanks for nothing. Maybe Discount Tire could contact me given the reciept attached. The store repeatedly asked for my contact info. Maybe it actually stuck one of the dozen times I provided my phone number. I went in to replace my back tires and was told that there would be a 45min wait. Carlos walked with me to my car to look at my tires and then brought me back inside for my estimate/payment. He then told me that he was going to take off my front tires (which I just replaced the week before at a different discount tire), replace all 4 of my tires with a more expensive tire brand (but would've "matched the price I paid for the front tires"). The tires he was trying to sell me where a different size than the ones I had and when I asked him if it was okay to do that, he started to say the reason why he was trying to get me different tires (because the tires I have aren't common). I told him I didn't want to do that and just wanted to stick with the brand I have, but then he proceeded to say "I don't think you're understanding what I am saying". I understood exactly what he was saying, but I was not comfortable getting a different tire size for my car. He then tried to sell me the tires again but eventually told me that the brand I have now, they don't have in stock at this location. I then gathered my stuff and told him that I would go to the other location that I went to previously. If Carlos had just been honest from the jump saying that they didn't have my tires in stock, I would've just came back whenever they had ordered my tires. I have used Discount Tire for years. I even bought my set of 4 tires here at this location. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with Michael (short Hispanic male). He wanted me to buy a new tire for a nail of a less than 2 year old tire. The nail is clearly not located on the edge of the tire as they describe in their store. Came back to get my car 5 minutes after receiving a phone call as I was next door at Popeye's trying the new fried pickles. Once returned, Alex kinda had a cow that my car was there for that period of a time (as I had the key fab). Not a big deal but his reference stating that if it was me, i'd be upset waiting was a bit reaching. Weird guy. Everyone else seemed professional. On top, they didn't put air in back tires. So Alex was rushing to get me out of there and could have at-least performed the full-service as they do to everyone else. Not sure what his beef with me was? Prob my MAGA hat lol. I pulled up on a Saturday at about 5:08 p.m. needing air in my back tire. The doors were still up, but it was obvious they were closing up. Respectful of their time and long day, I pulled up and explained to the young technician that I just left my home to head to the airport and I noticed my tire pressure light for 1 tire and asked could he put some air in it. He told me no almost immediately stating that he didn't have the equipment to do so, besides the fact that they were closed. I acknowledged the time and asked again and he proceeded to walk away from me, still saying there was nothing he could do. So I pulled up to the other door and asked for a Manager. Kenny approached and asked how could he assist me. I explained my situation and he immediately said he would be happy to take care of me. He asked me to back up in the bay/stall, grabbed the air hose and put air in my tire. Took all of 1 minute!! This is the type of customer service one should give, as well as, receive! I thanked him and he said he recognized my car, tires etc. I then told him that my rims and tires were 'Discount Tires' and I am a faithful customer. Had an appointment today at 12:30 PM. It was obvious the place was completely disorganized and backed up. Stood in line for 20 minutes after arriving on time. Once I got up to the front desk, the guy gave me a return time of 3 PM. This is with an appointment time of 12:30. After I explained to him that I had an appointment and needed the car sooner as I was on my lunch hour he told me it would be ready by 1:30. It is now 1:45 and my car has not moved from its space in the parking lot. I just went to the manager Louis to explain my situation and all he could say was that he was sorry and they were backed up. I told him I wanted a refund and he insisted on repairing the tire within 15 minutes. I will never bring my car here again. Not sure if this is a franchise location or what, but this is not the typical discount tire service that I have received in the past. My girlfriend went there to get a tire patched. They looked at the tire, then scheduled her an appointment for the next day. Once she arrived the next day, Michael told her that the tire couldn't be patched and tried selling her a whole new tire. I'm guessing he was just trying to make the shop some money, being that they do "free" tire patches. He was very unprofessional, and unbothered that he completely wasted our time scheduling an appointment and having someone come watch our daughter, just to be told they cant do it all of a sudden. Tire replacement. I didn't make an appointment since I was in the area on another errand. The tire that was damaged was in the rear of my car along with the tire cover. My spare sits under my car. The tire was not repairable, so it was replaced along with the lugs. Couple hundred dollars lighter, I felt confident all was well. That was until I got home and prepared to unload the groceries from my curbside pickup. My mouth agape under my groceries sat the huge, grossly dirty spare tire cover. The tire is brand new, and the removed the damaged tire from underneath the spare tire cover. This makes me doubt the product, the work and the staff. Granted it's not a huge problem except in terms of time to have it reinstalled. It does leave a bad taste in a customers mouth. I cannot recommend this place enough. I came here due to unfortunately getting a bolt in my tire and needing to get it replaced. The tire advisor was extremely professional, he did not pressure me into anything or try to upsell me and he was very patient while I consulted with my Wife regarding buying tires. I ended up getting 4 new tires at an excellent value. Despite not having an appointment my vehicle was done within 45 mins . Normally I would give a 5 but I had an issue this time. I have used discount for about 30 years and never had an issue. Always got quality tires at a good price and always good service. This time the tech ( probably a new employee) over torqued 3 lugs stripping 2 and breaking 1 off. I was upset I was told that this would be handled by a third party claims and to expect a 3 day wait to get the repairs done. Fortunately the Manager of the shop got involved and arranged to have to have the repairs done right away. He sent me to a local shop (Brakes Plus great place) and the repair took about an hour. As I said I never had an issue with discount tire in 30 years until now. Louis the store manager made what could have been an issue that would have ended dealing with a company forever to a minor issue. I haven't changed out my tires for a number of years now and they took a good beating after driving 26 hours from SF to Austin. With all the rain we've been having I figured it's best I change out a few or maybe all of them. I gave them a call to make an appointment and figured I can beat the lunchtime rush by arriving an hour before noon. Boy was I wrong and was it busy! These guys don't play around though. They are super efficient and it looks like they have the whole process nailed. Shoutout to Robert for giving me a great assessment and some good advice. They told me it would take about 90 minutes so it's not too bad considering how crazy busy they look. I took my laptop out and sat in the waiting room in the time being and had time to observe the staff there: The customer service here is truly top notch. They acknowledge every single person that is waiting in line and are super professional and courteous. The crazy rush didn't affect them at all and all the customers seemed very satisfied walking in and out the door. Well guess what? It's 60 min in and they just called me over to pick up. You have to do your own "good" research any time you're going to take your car to get serviced anywhere. You'll have that peace of mind when you're told "this or that is what you need" for your car. First of all, to make the very best of your time here, make an appointment! I made an appointment and was seen right away at the scheduled time. Most people just walk in without an appointment and they have to wait anywhere from 1-2 hours. I rate them for their appointment system and their commitment to it. They tell you how long the service will take, and they're usually done sooner. Great job! Secondly, my the issue with which I came in was resolved. However, they failed to make sure all four tires had the proper air pressure. So when I drove off, I noticed that the tire pressure gauge indicator was still on. So I waited a couple of days, and when it didn't go away, I contacted the associate. The answer I was given and the recommended solution seemed okay, but I was a bit skeptical, and plus I would've had to spend more money. So, instead, I went back to Discount Tires and had them fill all 4 tires at the same level, and sure enough the problem was resolved. The added stress could have been avoided had they made sure all tires had the same level of air pressure after servicing my vehicle. I think I would still come back when I need my tires serviced, but like I said in the beginning, it's always good to go in with some prior knowledge or research so that you can feel better about your "informed" decision about their "recommendations." read more

The one in Pflugerville didn't follow thru and gave me back my old spare tire when I specifically bought an extra tire to replace it. Then 2=weeks later I had a nail on the corner of a warranties tire and went to the one in Round Rock. They had to order the tire so that's when I discovered the old spare in my trunk had not been replaced. They apologized for the other shop and gave me a new spare tire no charge. I'd already told him not to buy those terrible windshield wipers they upsell. Long time customer and today's visit confirms why I just wont go anywhere else. Came in with 2 nails in my tire looking to get patched up. Its super busy but of course they're going to get it done. Nick kindly helps me and says I'll have it by noon. A few hours later a call, small problem something went wrong with the repair, they're not comfortable fixing it - new tire will be on my wheel before the end of the day - and they apologized to me. Come by Saturday afternoon after getting my text notification ready. Nick swings around with my new tire and helps me load it into my car. I showed up for a tire check cause I had a nail in my edge of the tire so it was free service but after they were finished I left and my psi was still low and they just switched my right rear tire to the left and my psi is still low after going in the 2nd time on the same exact day and nothing was ever improved for my tire. Im so thankful to Discount Tire, especially Robert and Junior! I was on my way out of town for a 100 mile trip when my tire pressure warning came on. I knew there might be a leak in the driver rear tire, since I put air in it 2 weeks ago and 2 months ago. I figured it might have been okay to drive on for the trip, but for peace of mind I wanted to go ahead and get it taken care of. I called in and spoke with Robert, and he was like sure come on in, it's slow today. I got to Discount Tire and spoke with Junior, and he was friendly and looked at my tires with me. I heard Junior, but I only got a flash of the name on the shirt and it might have been Juno. Anyways, he actually helped me buy these tires 4 years ago at a different location! He said they would take care of it for me, and that my tires had warranty on them so it wouldnt cost anything. I handed over my keys and walked out at 1:30pm (it's Thursday), walked to McD's nearby for lunch, and by 2pm I got a text saying my car was done! I came back in and spoke to another guy who was also nice. He said my specific tire was on back-order, but they put another tire on for the time being and I could drive it normally. They'll call me when mine is ready to be picked up. Since I was on my way out of town, I said I live in central Austin. He suggested we could look at the availability of the tire closer to my home, but it's only a 15 or 20 min drive for me to get to this one, so I said no worries I'll just wait for the call. I'm usually anxious to get car stuff done because I'm female and I'm scared of getting taken advantage of or bullied into getting more work on my car done than needed. But they were so nice and actually pleasant to talk to, and got my car road-ready within 30 minutes. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it. I like and have always used Discount Tire Pflugerville for years for great value and fairly quick service on my wheels and tires. They have great buying power and a well oiled system for moving cars through quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high quality standard. HOWEVER!!! My latest experience with the Pflugerville store was a big disappointment. My car is a Lexus and rides super smooth. I went and got my tires (pretty new) rotated and balanced because it was due and I was about to take a trip to the coast and another 2600 mile round trip across the country they did the balance and my car vibrated like the tires were now out of balance after getting them balanced. So I took it back in the next day and had them rebalance, same issue remained. I drove 3600 miles with this noticeable vibration and when I got back I thought maybe there staff was inexperienced OR their machines were improperly calibrated. I took my car to NTB Pflugerville, paid $80 to get all four tires balanced and sure enough she rides like glass again. Discount needs to fix their balancer machines at the Pflugerville location and retrain their staff to know when thing ain't right. Disappointed to say the least, made the two trips miserable because of poor quality control. read more

Overall: There is always room for improvement but I would say, the parking is very hard because majority of the cars that are parked in front are employees cars in which it makes it hard for customers to park. J H Fritz was the employee that helped me today and many times in the past. I have been with discount tire for decades. I have never had an issue that was not resolved. I received some wrong information (although well intentioned) and all was about to go south when I arrived for my appointment. But he decided to give me some good old fashioned customer service even though I was complaining he did it with a smile. It is very rare to see that type of service anymore. Today he reminded me why I have been with them for decades and why I have always insisted that all of my family and friends use discount tire. What he didn't know that I was having a shitty day missing my recently deceased son. I probably was not being nicest but he saw through all of that and just took care of me. He doesn't know but he did more than took care of my tires, he took care of me. No retail is perfect but I feel like discount tire has always been honest even when they have made a mistake and I feel like they try to give the best service they can. I wish I could say in Stars exactly how great the experience we had at this location on 04/29/21. We had our car loaded to the brim and were heading to Port Aransas for a long weekend. My wife notice that our back passenger tire was very low. We were already a little behind schedule but I said lets go and get these guys to check and pump up the tire. When we drove to the pressure check area I could tell that they were swamped. The gentleman still came over after a very short wait and checked all the tires and said the one in questions so so low that it had no readable pressure. He said that they could probably get it looked at and repaired or replaced in less than an hour. When I went inside I thought oh no I am going to be here all day since every seat was taken. I got to the counter and a very nice person named Carlos looked me up in the system and said he would get someone on it asap. He could not have been more professional. It was raining and he asked if we wanted to just wait in our car which we did. It took about 25 minutes for a bay to free up and the Tech asked me to drive it in. They immediately had 3 guys all working in perfect choreography. We had front row seats to just how efficient this team worked. I wish the government or every other company was this well run. After less than 8 minutes they had pulled my tire off and patched the whole and tested and balanced and had me on the road. Guess what? It was free since I bought my tires there. Amazing service.
