I've visited this location on a couple different occasions. First to purchase new tires for my Audi and a second time to get a tire patched on my wife's BMW. Both times I was greeted by professional and friendly service advisors right when I arrived. They are extremely informative about the condition of your tires and seem to only give honest opinions and feedback on what services are needed. The Audi was close to needing new tires, but I told them I was selling it in a few months and they completely understood my initial reasoning for not wanting to buy new tires. I later changed my mind and decided to replace them and the gentlemen at discount tire were very quick on ordering the tires I chose and they even matched (and beat by a few dollars) a better price that I found online. When I brought my wife's BMW in today to get the screw taken out, I was lucky they could patch it since it was in a repairable location. The guys at discount tire did. It try to sell me anything unnecessary and they were extremely quick at patching it, even when I didn't have an appointment. The owner and manager of this location should be very proud of the amazing workers they employ at this location. I received very quick and professional service at this store after having gotten an unrepairable flat tire on vacation. The staff explained my options very well. They did not try to upsell - in fact, they offered the lowest cost options first (replacing just 1 or 2 tires - I opted for 4 anyway). They even covered the cost difference between the tire I originally selected and a more expensive tire when they discovered they didn't have the original in stock. Tried selling me tires I didn't want and then tried pressuring me in to them. I didn't need tires just looking at rim and tire packages. One of the dreaded adulting chores... getting new tires. Not my favorite task, but definitely needed in my case. Previously I had gotten tires at Costco and that was fine, but we shopped around a bit and decided on Discount Tire this time, mainly for convenience as it's closer to our house and easy to schedule online. They also had some deals going on which was nice. It was easy to find the tires I wanted and make an appointment to have them put on at Discount Tire through their website. Nate and I arrived just before the appointment time and got taken care of right away. They looked at the old tires and also recommended replacing the lug nuts, so I did that for an extra cost. I figured I was already there and they could take care of it for me right away so why not. Just add it to my tab, lol. The lobby has about 10 seats with some outlets available and free wifi, so we just stayed there and got some work done. There's a counter with a big window that looks into the garage area so you can watch them work, which is kind of fun. The wifi was decent but did go out a couple of times. It only took them 50 minutes, which was what they quoted. The tires feel great and my wallet is a lot lighter, but it's good to know my vehicle is safer and the experience at Discount Tire was good. I'll be back in the future for rotations and balancing, which they do for free for the life of the tires that they sell. read more

The best tire experience I have ever had. I came in for a tire rotation and balance. I had made a 915am appointment on the website. Pulled into the parking lot at 912am. Before I could walk into the store to check in Tajuan met me in the parking lot addressing me by my first name and checked me in. Then after I was checked in he gave me an update on the condition of my tires and estimated time to change. I have not seen this type of service by any retail store in a really long time. About 3 weeks ago Discount Tire on Plainfield in Grand Rapids replaced the tires on my wife's SUV, flash forward to a couple days and my wife calls me concerned because the low tire alarm is on the dash. Sure enough, a large screw in the tire. My wife drove to DT & they'll promptly removed, repaired & balanced the tire, no cost to her!! 5 star rating they deserve here at Plainfield discount tire. When I go there it is usually a dire situation and they always address my issue. I had a bad front tire with belts coming thru the rubber of course they offer easy financing which I declined because I know my approval rating is low they don't pressure me beyond asking the first time. I also had the wrong tires on my vehicle for the factory installed recommendation not only did Eli and Phil make sure I had the correct tire for my vehicle they went above and beyond for the service they provided to me today. These guys are amazing humans. I have never had one single bad experience with them and I am kind of shocked to see negative reviews or comments. I read through the negative reviews while sitting in the waiting room as they repaired a tire for me. All I can say is I witnessed nothing but professionalism and the entire staff was genuinely helping customers make smart tire choices. The tech working on my car asked permission to find the wheel lock and kept me updated on the repair. They showed me the staple retrieved from the tire and made the necessary repairs for free. New tires are expensive and I can see why someone may have an emotional response with facing the unexpected at a tire shop. This can be somewhat mitigated by price checking online before rolling into the tire shop. Do some research and make wise choices. read more

Have my car in there right now for a rotation. They said they couldn't get the tires off and if they broke a lug it would be my responsibility. They said' it might be because of over tightening or because of the age of the car'. I told them I was c frustrated because they were the ones that messed with the lug tightness last time when they rotated my tiresThat didn't matter to them. I guess it must have been due to to that age of my car. Come on I am not stupid. You just rotated them a short while ago with no problem then you overtightened the lugs but it's my responsibility? When I said no they said they would order my tires. 3 days later I called back and they did not have me on file. So they ordered again. 8 days later they still do not have tires. I have been buying tires for my cars (and now my children's cars) at the Plainfield Discount Tire on Plainfield for decades. That ended last week. I had a slow leak in my front tire and went in for a repair. As the tire was being looked at by the technician the desk employee tried to sell me windshield wipers. When I declined the price immediately dropped to buy one get one half off (a tactic that always bugs me). When the tire tech was done I was informed that the leak was irreparable due to corrosion around the wheel and I would need 4 new wheels - $1100. I said no and price dropped, no again then $700 for cheaper rim - nope - then $385 for a matching refurbished rim. I asked if the leak could be repaired and was told they would clean the rim but it was a temporary fix and at least one new rim would be required. I drove down Plainfield to Firestone. THEY cleaned the wheel and tire, reseated the tire and low and behold - no more leak. I would love to know if the employees who tried to upsell me and therefore lost a lifetime customer will be praised or chastised by Discount Tire Management! read more

I dropped my car off to get a flat patched in the morning, they assured me that even though they were super busy, if I showed up before closing at 5 to pay they would be able to get it back to me same-day, as they would continue to work even if it went a little after 5. During the day I decided instead of the patch, it was time to get all of my tires replaced, called back to see if they could do it and they said no problem. Alpine = wonderful. This plainfield location is unfortunately the closest one to where I live and part of the reason I am even writing this review is to remind myself never to go there again. Greg was rude and completely tried to gaslight me into thinking I should have expected to have to wait at least an hour for my car despite having made an appointment to have it checked to see if I need new tires, pretending to be unaware of that being the exact reason people make appointments. I told him that when I made the appointment the person who took my call said it would only take 5 minutes. I relay this to Greg as he's asking me if I want to wait or leave the car and come back, and he looks up at me with his grey hair and gray eyes, smirks, literally snorts and says "I can't do anything in 5 minutes." Like I'm an idiot to think otherwise. Don't go to this location unless you need a reason to have to meditate and write a review on Yelp just to salvage the rest of your day. My roommate got a flat tire on her way to work yesterday morning and asked me to do a little research for her so we could get the tire replaced during her lunch hour. Not only was the gentleman I spoke to knowledgeable, but when I told him the year, make, and model of the car, he immediately knew what size tire it would require and checked to make certain they had some in stock. They did. When we stopped in, we told them we were on a bit of a time schedule and were quoted 30-40 minutes to change the tire. It took 25 minutes, tops. The whole cost was $45, out the door. I have always had really good customer service from Discount tire in Grand Rapids. I was having problems with my tire on the highway. The steel belt was coming off and I wasn't able to get the lug nuts off. My first thought was to find the closest Discount Tire which was in Plainfield MI. I pulled over and explained to the employee what had happened. I explained to him that I was really broke and just needed the lug nuts loosened. He came out and looked at the spare and because it was over 10 years old said he couldn't service it. I told him I had been off work for 3 weeks and just needed to get the lug nuts off. He was very rude and said "everyone has a scenario." My response was "So, your telling me this tire is not safe for me to drive out of the parking lot but you also won't help?" I went down the road to belle tire and they changed it immediately at no cost. I would never go back there again. It's bad enough to have problems on the highway you don't need the employee making it worse. read more

I would really like to give a shout out to Discount Tire on Plainfield Avenue, and an additional thank you to Kevin. My first experience there was a couple of weeks ago. O had purchased snow tires, scheduled an installation appointment, but ended up with a flat tire a week early. Despite their packed schedule, they moved my installation date up to the very next day and my tires were promptly and perfectly installed. Last night one of my tires went flat. Again, I called and they worked me in despite being so swamped. Removed a large screw that one of us apparently drove over. The repair was free. Both times I have called, Kevin has answered the phone. He is extremely pleasant, and a pleasure to speak to. while I was there, he was speaking to another customer and patiently explaining what her options were, how long she had left on her warranty, etc. Of course, I called at about 8:00 this morning and picked up my car around 7:00 tonight.
