For reviews of places like this that are not by where I live, I ask myself what I would want to know if I was in this town and had some sort of tire emergency. That said, I rolled in, they checked the damaged tire and confirmed that it needed to go, they got one of the same make as I already had and did not try to oversell me a pair. I read their magazines, got on the road 90 minutes later, and paid the right price for the tire I bought. I am not trying to make buying an emergency tire seem like an exciting transcendent experience, but it was a fair and satisfying given that this was not a planned purchase. read more

Turns out there was a nail in one and a leaking seal around the rim of another tire. They fixed both, rotated and charged me ZERO because I bought the tires there (about two years ago). Went in with a tire leaking pressure by the minute I could hear it leaking down the road. Wasn't sure if I would even make it and drive in at 5 with no appointment. I didn't want to go any where else since I had a warranty for all my tires , and needed it fix fast. They were able to get me in even after they closed , and got me a brand new tire. Mike E nailed it on the rim issue... I have been a DT customer for years. It was kinda of funny the last time I was in there, and the associate was trying to find the particular vehicle I brought in, in the list of cars under my name and he went through 30 some cars. The people at the counter next to us asked me if there were any cars I didn't have... ;) Yea, people are amazed that they're hustling and bustling because there is a 2, 3, or more hour backlog particularly on a Saturday, but in that haste, they damage rims. On my daily drivers or work vehicles, I don't care as much. But on my pristine, mint quality vehicles, I do! Even when put on the service order "BE CAREFUL WITH RIMS!" I still get back to my garage (across the street from this DT in Elgin), only to find scratches and scuffs that I can't fix without having the rim(s) completely redone. One set in particular is an expensive special Holden set that I had shipped halfway across the globe from Australia! The rims had more shipping mileage on them than the car they went on! Another set, was a brand new set of wheels from GM that I had just recently put on the vehicle. These wheels get wiped down after each time driving and are polished weekly, so I'm pretty abreast of the condition of them. At the beginning of the season, I had a puncture in one tire which was not fixable, and in order to get a replacement so I could drive over the weekend, I was forced to go to DT. Otherwise I would've had to wait a week from Tire Rack. Specifically on the work order "BE CAREFUL WITH RIMS", only to have scratch marks in the bolt holes. They'll argue that's inevitable. Funny how I can R&R my wheels (which I do all the time), and my 3/4" socket, on my impact wrench, never seems to make contact with those bolt holes. Maybe that's because I take my time and I'm careful! I just break them loose with the impact, then manually unthread the lug while maintaining pressure on the wheel so it doesn't flop loose once the last lug is removed. Their prices are competitive with Tire Rack if you include the shipping for Tire Rack. But it seems as though the tire I want, they never have enough of or at all. I'm not saying they're bad, I have them as A-Ok, but if you have a nice set of rims, watch them. That hustle and bustle does come at a price. read more

I've had nothing but poor experiences with this place. Went in a few months ago to buy new tires. I knew exactly what I wanted, and they were not cheap at $900 for the set. I told the guy at the counter what it wanted and he told me they only had three in stock but he could get me a different, more expensive tire right then. I declined and he said he would have the fourth within three hours, but to be safe, he told me to come back in four. I gave him all my information and paid for them then. When I came back in four hours, it was still not ready. "A few more hours," he said. Why couldn't he have called me so I didn't waste my time driving all the way over there? I went somewhere else to occupy my time and came back when he told me to. This time, the tires were actually there but they were crowded so I'd have to wait again before they could start working. Finally when my tires were done, he gave me my keys and asked me to pay again. I told him I already paid and had to show him the receipt to prove to him that I didn't owe anything. A few days ago, I was ready to come back for my FREE tire rotation. What a great deal, right? I called them that morning to ask if I should make an appointment. They said no need, so I went in later that afternoon. The guy at the counter then told me it'd be an hour and a half til they could get my car in. I told him I didn't want to wait, that's why I asked if I should make an appointment. I asked again if I could make one, seeing as how I apparently did need one in spite of what they told me. He put up a fight, trying to get me to come in the next day without an appointment, but finally gave me an appointment for several days later at 5pm. I arrived at 5 on the dot and told the guy at the counter that I had an appointment. He said it would be 25-30 min til my car was ready. 30 minutes later, they finally pulled my car into the garage. It's been 40 minutes since I was told 25-30min and I am still waiting. No apologies from anyone throughout any of my very poor experiences here. I purchased a set of Michelin truck tires for my new Dodge Ram pickup as the OEM tires were loud and did not ride well and were wearing badly. Mike the manager researched an all season tire and came up with the Michelin's. We made an appointment and were in and out in 1 hour as promised.... We had a flat 3 weeks later and I talked to Adam and he said bring it in. I came in waited 42 minutes and they REPLACED the tire as the puncture was in the sidewall! No questions asked and I was back on the road. That is true customer service on a $279.00 tire!! Thanks again Discount Tires and Mike, Adam and the rest of the team. By the way this is my 11th set of tires, as I purchased a set of Michelins for my daughter's 2013 Chevy Cruze 2 weeks earlier. Ordered my tires from their website...worked great. Had then shipped to store....not great. 1st the guy I spoke to had no idea they had a website. Then I get a new guy who had. Told him that when the tires got in I would drop the car off. Tires came in, I called and set up an appointment. Dropped the car off the night before so they could work on it right when they got there at 7. Came in around noon and the guy I talked to didn't know my car was there and obviously no work had been done. Big shout out to Mike and the team at Discount Tire in Elgin. I originally Took my car to NTB Sunday and got oil change, tire rotation and wipers. I was told I needed a New tire because I had a nail in it. They even convinced me to apply for the NTB finance card. I said let's patch it and they told me patching wasn't an option. It was on a tread not the sidewall. Not feeling convinced I said leave the tire alone I need to check around. My brother in law recommended I go to Discount tire. I went today and was greeted very kindly by Mike and not only did he patch my tire, he also check my spare and all my tires. He was very honest and kind. Yesterday, I hit some metal on the road on the way to work. By the time I got out of the car at work, I could hear the air hissing out of my tire. At the end of the day, my tire was so flat that my vehicle was leaning. My friend helped me pump the tire so I could make it the 2 miles to Discount Tire. When I rolled up, the tire was almost flat again. The crew member immediately walked over and asked me what was going on. When I came inside, Nick addressed me and talked me through my options. Nick was so helpful and polite as he kept me informed throughout the process. The wait was not very long, and the service is some of the best I have ever experienced. I've used Discount Tire on several occasions. Today I went in there to get a tire rotation (on tires that I didn't get from them). I also brought my ATV tire in to get fixed ( also not purchased from them) and they got that done too. When completed, I expected to see a bill, and they said it was no charge. I arrived at the Elgin Discount Tire Store on Saturday 10 minutes after closing with 2 flat tires from my wife's car, the door was locked and the guys inside were closing up. I explained to Adam that my wife ran something over on the street, it blew both her tires and the car was on the side of the road, Adam let me in, turned the computers back on and had two new tires mounted after hours. Made a 12:30pm Appt on 10/9 for today 10/13 and arrived at 12:20, nobody in line but there were two associates each helping a customer. I waited until 12:35 when I was finally assisted, longest I've ever waited at a discount tire for assistance. Finally everything was set up and when 1pm came around I noticed my car was still where I parked it, I had to be back in Bartlett at 1:30 to pick my son up from school, something I declared upon checking in. I was upset at the service or lack thereof on this visit and asked for my key so I could leave. I was asked why and when I told the associate he replied, "schedule another Appt so we can get you taken care of next time." Is this guy for real? Did he not hear a thing I said? Why allow me to schedule an Appt for 12:30 when you can't honor it? FYI, I've been a Discount Tire / America Tire customer since 1996 when I worked at a location in California during high school. Scammers! I went to discount tires because my front left tire kept going deflating. Every month or so it would be almost completely deflated. I went to Discount Tire in Elgin and they told me it was my rims and all rims had to be replaced. I had all rims replaced and a month later, my front left tire was down again. I went back and they said I had a nail in it and they would patch it. A month later, my front left tire was done again, they said that I had another nail in it. Mind you, I only drive from my house to the grocery store and this time I was out of town and the car was in the garage the whole time. I went away on business and came back after a few months and guess what, in my garage, the front left tire was down again. I went back to Discount tires and they told me there was a nail in my tire again. This must be the script they keep telling people because the sales people don't seem to keep each other informed on the lies they tell people. Well I drove my car back to my house and left it parked in my garage, I had to go away on business again the next day and when I came back, guess what, the front left tire was down again. These people are thieves. I paid for rims that I didn't need and they never fixed the issue with the tire. They just lie and tell you that you have a nail in your tire, then fill the tire with air and send you on your way. read more

I made an appointment to check my tires as they seemed to be making an odd noise over 30 mph. When I arrived they were busy, but they acknowledged my presence and assured those of us waiting in line we would be taken care of asap. When I checked in, Colin listened to my issue and went outside with me for a quick check for anything obvious. He quickly determined that one of my tires had cupping and was causing the noise. He gave me some options and offered to check the pressure in the tires. No pressure to purchase a new tire or service. I ran over a screw a few days ago and went took my tire into the ford dealer to have it repaired. They took a quick glance at it and said it wasn't fixable. I called discount tire just to get an estimate price and they quoted me a lower price but told me they may be able to fix my tire at no charge. At first they said it looked like it might not be fixable, but they took the tire off and, after looking inside, they felt good about patching it up ...FREE!!! They saved me $170!
