I've always had good experiences at this location. But the last time I went the kid in the front had zero customer service skills. He made me wait in line without an explanation for almost 10 minutes while he was calling his vendors for lead times on something. Just hearing him speak to the vendors you can tell he either had no experience or just wasn't trained properly. I went there on 22 Aug 2025 knowing I needed four new tires. I did not make an appointment as I did not see in their add where one was needed.(That was a plus) Once I arrived I was greeted by a gentleman named Matthew. He was very young, but very professional, polite and knowledgeable. I asked him to please look at my tires and let me know how many tires he believed I needed replacing. I watched through the window and I could see he spent time looking at each tire before walking back in. He notified me that I needed all four tires replaced. He went over a couple types of tires, knowing I only needed them for local driving. He took down my information and I received a text notifying me of the status of the estimated time of repair. I expected it to be a 40 minute wait time. 15 minutes later Matthew came over and let me know that my car was finished. A half an hour prior to when I thought it would be finished. I received a military discount, and was asked if I had a AAA card for another discount. I felt as if Matthew was insuring I was getting the best deal possible. He also went over everything as far as when I could come in for a free tire rotation, air, blowouts. He definitely made me feel I came to the right place for service. Went to their location after work got there at about 4:45, paid my balance and 4:50 and was on the road by 5:06. I decided to get 4 new tires, told the guy I want the cheapest. I'll preface this with the fact I worked in the tire industry for 18 years prior to going to discount tire, so I know a thing or two about how their services should be provided. Been going to discount tire and this location for about 5 years. Everytime I'm in there they have a completely different crew. Seems like there's a revolving door for retaining employees which is always concerning as they don't stay long enough to actually become professionals and build real knowledge. EVERYTIME, they over torque my lug nuts which has caused warping damaged to my rotors, not to mention the stripped stud. One time they got them so tight I couldn't get them off when I had a flat abd got stranded until my wife could bring me more equipment to get them loose to put on my spare When I told them about the warped rotors the had me fill out a claim for and some crabby lady from corporate called me and basically said I'd have to prove that they warped them before they would take care of it, unlike most tire shops that know it happens and do the right thing by fixing it and fixing their process to where they don't over tighten the lugs. They can't balance the tires on my vehicles to where they won't vibrate at highway speeds- The wheel weights have fallen off before, and also they don't know how to use the equipment and asses the tires integrity from the beginning. They will put tires that are out of round into service rather than identifying the issue when the tire is new and replacing it before it even hits the road. read more

I've used discount tire for years. My last visit wasn't good though. I got a bad attitude from a young employee named Andrew. Purposely delaying bringing my vehicle up after it was finished, for 15 minutes or so. Plus I was in there because one of my new tires wasn't holding are well. They suspected it was some corrosion, after inspection. I'm sure the corrosion was present when the tire was originally mounted a month earlier. Why wasn't it cleaned up then? After going to Costco Tire Center on Cole Rd (where I had bought my tires) with a tire that was slowly losing pressure and being told there is nothing wrong with my tire, I decided to come here. They found a nail and repaired the damage in less than half an hour!! And they didn't even charge me. I will be back here buying new tires next time. Thank you so much! You guys are awesome! The rest of the team was great as well as they got my car in right away, got my new summer tires on, bagged my winter tires and put them in the trunk, and had me out of there in 25 minutes. I often go to another tire store (LS) where I get great service but expensive tires and limited selection. I was reluctant to try Discount Tire as I did not think I would get much except a discount price. But I was very surprised and impressed by the professional, quality service this store (State St, Boise) provided. Not only was the price* excellent for the top brand, Michelin, tires we purchased but the care, courtesy, speed and quality of care was outstanding. They mounted and installed eight tires and all the work to go with them in fifty minutes. Plus their desire to inform me to use the free extra service features, ie, check pressure, update tpms, tire rotation etc, was genuine and encouraged. Their showroom and waiting area was comfortable, clean and in great condition along with their shop and parking area. Everyone and everything was professional and first rate through and through. I plan to make Discount Tire on State St in Boise my go to tire store from now on. I have been here for all of my tires on three vehicles for three years. They are good when you can get an appointment but appointments are always many days out even with tires in stock . My main gripe is nobody will answer the damn phone at this location. I've called multiple times for the last couple visits and it just rings, auto hold, ring auto hold. I was in this week and watched the employees around the desk with the phones CONSTANTLY ringing for my entire visit. They don't answer the rings and it's like they don't hear it. I hate having to drive down there to get a question answered usually about tire size options. They want it all done on the website it appears. I get it but then don't have a number to call. They have plenary of staff it looks like with multiple people working on each car but they need to keep someone up front to talk to people. Les Schuab is much more responsive but they have the off brand/name brand tire problem where they have name brand tires only sold at least schuab that are made cheaper and had enough bad experience with fast wear so I stopped going there. read more

Bought (or at least I thought so) a set of winter tires during their Black Friday event. They didn't have the tires in the store but assured me it would only be a few days until they could have them transferred from another store. I'm getting a deal so what the heck, I'll wait. They called a few days after the sale and, as it turns out, they don't actually have the tires they sold me, nor they claim could they get them. My option was to purchase a substantially more expensive set and pay up the difference or well, suck it I guess. Today I needed some locking lug nuts removed from a vehicle I recently purchased but the key was not included. So this guy asked if he could help me and I said do you take trade-in and he said yes only on the tires, so I said well tell me how much of credit could I get. After a few minutes, he came back in and said $30.00 per tire now mind you they are $300.00 apiece I replaced one in the past so I know and there was 40 miles on the tire. Was able to open a store credit card pretty easily and then paid for it with that credit card.
