SENIORS BEWARE: 92 yr old partner of 8yrs died. Quick move out. Across street. Carlos and Albert. Used every tactic 2 slo down 2 keep 3 hr min. I get it. No problem. Although I was initially nervous since I had a bad experience with a different moving company prior, I was elated by how amazing this company handles their business. Booking the appointment was incredibly easy with the help of Kim. She sent a follow up email with all of the details of the move date and expectations. The quote for what was being moved and distance was more than fair. On the morning of the move, I was kindly greeted by Jose Lois and Fernando. These guys are rock stars! They were very nice, professional, and honest. Jose was telling me about his 30 years in the business, which was reassuring. Throughout the whole move, not once was I ever worried. Andres & Gilbert helped me move our 2bedroom apartment and did such a good job. They got there on time and were very efficient with the moving. We packed the boxes ourselves but they took them all down, along with the heavy furniture. They were careful with our belongings and wrapped all the items in plastic wrap/blankets to keep them safe. We paid $125/hr, which is the lowest rate I've seen in Orange County. We moved 7 miles away but ended up paying for 3.75 hours. Discount Movers helped us move. The movers were careful and courteous. However, what we thought was a 4 hr job turned out to be 10 hrs with overtime. It is what is and we paid the price. The issue was that when I went back to check on the house before turning over the keys is that I found our bathroom as well as the bedroom closet still full of items. They left it like that without telling us that they left something behind. And we couldn't find our toiletries as well as our kitchen utensils. Buyer beware. Unbelievable!!!! all I can say is that we just moved a five bedroom house yesterday with five kids to cat and two dogs. We hired discount Movers not knowing anything about the company. The owner came out to inspect the job and he was awesome. Every time I had a phone call or an update, Diane has been so incredibly sweet and on top of it. I was ok to pay the min of 3 hrs, but it's not fair that they just had to add in over $70 to the first estimate w/o being informed of this or emailed/printed on the estimate. Absolutely excellent. Moved us yesterday taking into account that we were mid 70's 'at-risk' clients. They respected the 'keep a distance' recommendation totally. We prepared color coded labels for furniture and a color coded 'map' of the new house. 100% correct placement with almost no questions for us. They wiped every thing down and we're through and through professionals. We have a lot of glass furniture (table, desk, cabinets etc) and everything was carefully wrapped, transported and put in place. Can't say enough about their professionalism. We hired this company to help us in a precarious situation. The initial process was great. The problem started right after hiring them. They did a bait and switch, hire for 3 and 2 showed up to pack. We got some lies when the 3rd person would arrive. We weren't even notified. Then the next day, the owner started getting verbally abusive and completely unprofessional. His estimate went well over what he told us. He is now holding our contents hostage and won't deliver until we don't pay in advance, which is extortion. We have even notified him that there is sensitive medication and it is perishable, but he is still being a scumbag. We've had to file complaints with the CA Attorney General and the FMCSA. Probably one of the most unethical and fraudulent businesses I have ever had the opportunity of dealing with. read more

Came out today just to move a washing machine from our current house to our new house down the street. Arrived within the estimated window which was great. I asked them to put the 4 shipping bolts in the back of the washing machine to ensure that the drum doesn't break while moving it. They only put 3 in & thankfully the drum didn't break. They kept asking me for tools multiple times which I didn't have because they were all at the new house. They asked me to get them but I didn't feel comfortable leaving them alone in my house. When they went to hook up the washer they told me that they lost the hose washer & that it would leak without it. So I had to go to Home Depot to buy one & reconnect the washer myself. Wasn't the best customer service & it was a bummer that I had to go to Home Depot because they lost one of our parts. read more

We used these guys to move from Anaheim Hills to Anaheim (close to Ball and Brookhurst). My husband got their information from a neighbor who used them before. I exchanged emails with Phil who gave me all the information I needed and answered all my questions. On the moving day his guys came really early and did everything quick and smoothly. All my furniture was wrapped and nothing had happened with that. Even my refrigerator could not get out with the double doors closed and his guys did everything possible to get them out and then in on the new house. Since I had a big house, they took more than 8 hours to do the whole process but it was worthy because they are hard workers and they didn't stop a minute to even have a lunch break. This is what I provided. And note what I got. After $1600, I cant access a thing because I have no idea where anything is. Including my medical needs. I called and spoke with Phil, the owner who couldn't care less. He said "you gotta watch em" really? And they charged me inaccurately on multiple items. Writing is pretty illegible so difficult to read but some things are obvious. I would think he'd send some guys over to fix it but no dice! Now I cant find a thing. Nothing is grouped together. Shelves I provided are nowhere to be found. My medication and medical equipment is God knows where. Somewhere in the pile. So i pay $400/mo to store a whole lot if things I cant find. Because somewhere in that pile are family heirlooms and sentimental things from my kids childhood. I hope. Because you see if they could do this then they could steal from me too. Your movers didn't even come into our condo so they couldn't have known the house wasn't packed up. Also my husband did have a quote ahead of time and was quoted for two movers. If there is less than a star I would give them!! They told me on the phone they would charge 89 per hour for minimum of 3 hours, and after that the hour would be half the price!! So I did ask him how much would it be and he told me 44.5! Guess what they finished a 2 bedroom without even a washer or a refrigerator in 5 hours and 15 minutes even though they had to do only the pick up without opening anything because I opened everything! We tried to help them so they won't take more time and while I was taking my bicycle they were sitting in the car or wasting time or whatever! When I called the manager he was totally insulting me and thinking that I wanted discount and telling me people like yourself want discount!! I used Discount Movers to help a friend move the contents in her storage unit in Orange to her apartment in Cambria. I spoke to Phil on a Wednesday and he was able to set up the move date to the following Sunday. Sean and Josh were timely and professional--I met them at the storage unit. I heard from my friend in Cambria later that day. She said that Sean and Josh were awesome. They hauled her stuff upstairs and got everything placed where it needed to go. The worst moving experience. Do NOT use this company This wkend we moved from one house to another 300 yard away. Talked to Phil and gave the info about the house. He gave me 2 options. 8am or 12 pm. A small truck arrives at 1:30. Phil calls and said that the Crüe is tired and he will call an additional truck and charge me double. After an argument about his inexperience and how he should send a fresh Crue I decided to stick to the one he sent. They were unorganized. Could not plan the stacking. By 9:30pm they made 2 trips and were moving at snail pace. Left multiple items in the old house that I had to move myself in my car over the next day. Very inexperienced, not straight forward and just did a lousy job in preparation. The 2 Crüe members were nice but should do one move per day. Do not use this company read more

After reading some of the comments written by a few customers in Yelp, I was concerned about using Discount Movers. I called and spoke with Phil, the owner, and he assured me that I would be pleased with the job that his team would do, so I decided to take a chance on Discount Movers, to move my household furniture from Placentia to Las Vegas on April 1st, 2013. The 4 man Santa Ana Team that arrived to pack up my furniture were superb. Two arrived promptly at 8 am, and the other two arrived shortly thereafter at 8:10 am. Each member of the team was professional, courteous and took the utmost care in ensuring that my furniture was protected, by wrapping each piece with wrapping material first, then covered and secured with a blanket. My paintings, flat screen tv's and mirrors were individually wrapped in paper, and boxes were cut to fit each item. After each piece was wrapped, they were taken out and firmly secured in the moving van. The Las Vegas team was excellent - but I must add that if you have computer equipment to set-up on a desk that will be too heavy to move without help, you need to have someone there to take care of it, and have someone else available to direct the placement of the furniture. If you are considering a move, have someone come out to your home to give you an estimate, do not do this over the telephone. I made an appointment with Phil so that he could see what I wanted moved. There were no surprises on either end - everything was accounted for prior to the arrival of the movers. Allow yourself and the movers plenty of time to wrap your furniture - just assume that it will take all day. My preference was to ensure that my furniture was protected, so I didn't rush them. These boys did not waste any time, they hustled, but it still took 8 hours to pack and load in Placentia, and 4 hours to unload in Las Vegas. If I had to move again, I would call Discount Movers in a heartbeat - they were wonderful, dependable, trustworthy and very reasonable. read more

These guys work hard, showed up on time and wrapped everything really well so my furniture was in good shape throughout the move. I went from one upstairs unit to another upstairs unit a few miles away. I chose discount movers in the Las Vegas area because after shopping around for prices I discovered their pricing structure was about as cheap as I could find, but you get what you pay for. I needed help getting my belongings from storage to my new apartment. Being new to Vegas I wasn't used to the extreme heat in late June, so I knew I would need help moving in the heat even though I was very broke and couldn't really afford to pay for help. The movers were courteous, but stood around and talked quite often. Understanding that it was VERY hot out 115 degrees I didn't complain or tell them to get to work, but it ended up taking a lot longer than I anticipated even for my small load of just boxes. The movers didn't pay attention to caring for items. They had stacked heavy boxes on top of boxes marked "fragile" dishes, wine glasses, etc. Nothing ended up broken thankfully, but it was obvious they didn't care. I was informed that I would be charged for "travel time". This was not explained to me very well, I thought travel time meant the time it took to travel from my storage unit to my apartment. I was charged for that time, but ALSO the "travel time" it took them to get from their previous job to my storage unit. They told me this was 30 minutes, they could have been 5 minutes away for all I know, but I was charged for an arbitrary amount of time, the MOST amount of time it takes to get anywhere in the Henderson/Vegas area is 30 minutes. So overall, I feel the "travel time" fee was a rip-off, and the men could have worked faster and not stood around while on my dime. They were also not as careful with my belongings as I wished. I'm glad to have had the help moving, but I don't think I would use this service again. read more

Dear Discount Movers, I can't thank you enough for sending such courteous, patient, skillful, hardworking movers to take care of us and all our belongings. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get their names, but they were incredible. The day turned out to be grueling and MUCH longer than they anticipated (since we had far more 'stuff' than we estimated), but they remained completely professional and showed a great attitude throughout even though they had to be exhausted. Some movers could have gotten pretty darn surly by hour 17, but they didn't. They just kept going and going, as fast as they could, with no breaks and no grumbling. Even at 11 at night, they were patiently reassembling furniture, putting shelves back in, and asking if we were sure the large furniture was where we wanted it. The gentleman in charge, who did the packing, was like a magician in the way he got everything to fit into the truck. He also took his time preparing the bill and insisted on explaining the charges carefully even though we were all just about dead on our feet as midnight was striking. (I'm so glad you mentioned that we might want to tip the guys as I didn't know that was customary. We scrounged all the money in our wallets and could only come up with $150 for the three of them. I hope that was enough, because they were worth their weight in GOLD.) Their care with each item was truly impressive (removing light bulbs from lamps, packing lampshades separately, shrink-wrapping furniture, taking things apart to keep them safe), and everything arrived here without damage. I would not hesitate to recommend your company. I've already passed on my great experience to anyone who asks, including all the members of my congregation. The movers arrived on time but they hit the awning in my apartment complex one of the guys to driver was pretty lazy the other guy was pretty good. When they moved us to the other apartment they rushed everything the beds were not put together they left the screws out. Which in turn caused my bed to break and now I have to buy a new sleigh bed and the same for my roommate bed as well I will not use the company again. I normally don't complain but this was the worst experience I've ever had with a moving company their major concern was getting paid and getting out of here as quick as they possibly could. When I asked they brought any couch covers they said they were not covered in my expense so I happen to have some shrink wrap and that's what they wrap my couch in. We had the WORST experience using this company! They charged us $85 an hour and it was a minimum of 3 hours. They said, Okay we're going to come from 12pm-3pm. We set up everything based on their timeframe but they called us and said "We're going to be late. We won't be there until 2pm." I called the office to talk to someone and the guy was SO RUDE! Absolutely no idea of what customer service is! Well, they show up and take 7 HOURS to move us. I should mention that we were moving within the same apartment complex, just from one building to the next. I honestly felt like they were dragging out the time. They were wrapping up everything in cloth with tape. I understand wrapping up really delicate things and stuff like furniture but they were totally over-doing it! They only accepted cash and we had only about $400 with us because we didn't expect it would cost more then like $255. Well, when we got the final bill after their 7 hour move down the street, it came out to $560!! My husband had to drive to an atm to get more cash and while the movers were waiting to get paid, they said, "How much longer until we get the money?' I said, "I don't know, we didn't expect to be paying this much so my husband had to go get more cash out." He said, "Okay well if we have to wait more than 15 minutes, we're going to have to start charging you for waiting." I said, "Go ahead and charge me but I won't pay it!" I can't believe them. We had a great experience with our movers. The movers were scheduled at 9 AM and they showed up on time ready to work. My movers, Lara and Claro, were great! They worked super hard the whole time, moved our stuff with care, and spoke pretty good English. I took the time to plan our move so I wrapped most of our furniture myself before they came and I staged all my boxes so they could just get in there and move my stuff down 3 flights of stairs. It was pretty efficient which helped save me some of their time. I can say that I had a good experience with these guys and I'd recommend the team that moved my stuff. The only knock is the cash price vs the credit card price. I'd like to have used my CC but it was worth saving the $4 per hour to pay them in cash. read more
