I've used Discount Cab twice now despite my first experience being terrible. First experience was a very long wait time which resulted in two different drivers being dispatched and when the other driver learned we had already been picked up, he shared some very crude words with me. Extremely unprofessional. Thinking this was a one-off scenario, I used Discount Cab in Tucson which also resulted in a disaster. We waited 25 minutes (quoted 5-20) only to learn that a driver still hadn't been dispatched. Waited another 20 minutes only to learn THE DRIVER STILL WASN'T DISPATCHED. The automated system they use disconnected me multiple times in trying to check on the late status, which furthered my frustration. I have been resistant to change but UBER is starting to sound like a better option in the future. Thanks for all the headache, confusion, and lack of professionalism Discount Cab. Heres a story!! Pretty bad, its called "Discount Cab " but other Taxi cabs are cheaper. My boyfriend from New York came to town to see me and my car broke down so he just called this taxi service. The driver apparently took some crazy back road while fallowing her gps (which was very muddy and pretty much for 4wheel drive trucks ) and her car got stuck in the mud. My boyfriend felt bad and stuck around to try to help, then wondered through the desert for 15 minutes to get to my place, all in all, the taxi woman kept calling him saying shes stuck and doesn't know what to do because her Company wont rescue her and theyll make her pay for the taxi car to get towed out and this big sad story on how crappy the company is to her *wah wah wah.sob* and my boyfriend being nice like he is was offering to walk back there and help pay 80$ for some tow company to tow the taxi out the mud ONTOP of paying the 70$ just to get over here in THREE POINTS!!! And guess what? It was almost three hours later until she finally got towed!! First of all, its not my boyfriend's fault the lady missed the road( that is clearly stated in my ADDRESS) and she got her taxi stuck on some god forsaken road, second of all my boyfriend still had to walk and when he got here this taxi chick kept calling him to rescue her like hes some kind of superhero, which was SO annoying. I had a very bad experience with Discount Cab recently. I called the day before my flight to reserve a cab for 5:00 AM the next day, leaving my cell. No cab. I called at 5:05 AM, and the dispatcher said "no one has picked this up. I'll put it in again." I called again at 5:15 AM, and they said "oh, no one has picked this up." They had no information on whether a cab would even show up or when. They didn't call to say that there was a problem. And they acted like this wasn't their problem that i had called for a cab and they not only couldn't deliver but didn't have/want to do anything to get me a cab. This is no way to run a cab company. I suggest trying a company that actually wants your business and will work to get you a cab when you need it---NOT Discount Cab of Tucson. read more

The only reason I gave Discount Cab 2 stars instead of 1 is because I have used them in the past without any problems in Tucson and Phoenix. However the service that was provided was awful! Actually there was no service provided at all. I called around 9pm and was quoted 10-60 mins. Over an hour passes and I call to follow up, and I was informed the "job was cancelled." I did not call to cancel the cab, and I didn't not receive a call from the driver. The operator offered to send a cab out in 5-25 mins. Over 2 hours later and a cab still has not shown up. The second operator I spoke to seemed annoyed/agitated by my complaint. I have almost a decade of customer service experience, I would not treat potential (especially EXISTING!) clientele with the disrespect demonstrated tonight. Worse taxicab experience ever. We are traveling to Tucson for a family vacation and realized getting a cab with two child seats might be a problem so I made a reservation 7 days ahead of time with footnote that we will need two child car seats. That we followed by a phone call to confirm they do see the request and that they can accommodate. They said yes and yes. Fine we show up and guess what no cab! Called them and the dispatcher had no idea initially what I was talking about. Then he said "oh yeah it's in the remark section" - my reply was "so what's the problem?" Well his reply was we don't have one right now. "are you planning to send a cab out at all at some point?" "uhh don't know." By this time, I needed to make alternative arrangement. So I hung up to get that done. I called back and asked to speak to the manager. She apologized and I offered them one more chance, that if they can get us the car seats for the return trip, I will not give a bad review. Ok fine they will do that. On the day of departure, guess what? 30 min before scheduled pick up, I got a call. " Sorry no cab available." Will you have one at some point today?" "not sure."!!! I called and ordered a cab, the gentleman told me that it would be 10 or 15 minutes. I waited 45 mins and called back and the guy told me he thought I didn't want the cab so he cancelled it.which was very aggravating because nothing about our conversation indicated that I didn't want it. He told me it would be there in 10 minutes and hung up. How the fuck can that be interpreted as I don't want it? He then told me he was sending me another one and he had such a thick accent that I couldn't understand him. I suggest the hire people who can understand customers and that customers can understand. Called, cab was there within 15 mins (at 5pm on monday). Rate was reasonable, something like $3 + $2.25/mile . Guy was nice, too.

I made a reservation with Discount Cab and received a confirmation number. Not only did they not pick up the person, they never had the courtesy to call him. Why do they bother asking for phone contacts if they don't use them? When my friend called them, they absolutely knew all about the reservation but didn't seem in the slightest apologetic. They started telling him that in the taxi business world these days, they can't pre-arrange for a cab to go to a location, they just have to wait for a driver to accept a job. My friend ended up using Uber who thankfully got him to the airport in time. This was my first, and last, experience with this cab company. read more

Needed a cab first thing in the morning, and since I had a very tight schedule, I decided not to cross my fingers and hope that I could grab an Uber or a Lyft (they're not always available in my hood). After waiting 25 minutes we called inquiring what is going on and they said they can send a cab in about 45 minutes! Very unfriendly, very unprofessional! If I could leave zero stars, I would. I used to work at a place that dealt with the mentally ill and occasionally elderly dementia patients, and most of the care facilities where they lived knew better than to use Discount Cab; but every now and then one would, and the poor patient would wait and wait and wait, sometimes up to an hour or more. I'm very disappointed. My boyfriend and I called for cab knowing we were both too intoxicated to drive with it being New Year's Eve. We placed a call at about 12:45 for a cab and even with 2 other calls hours later asking where they were, a cab never showed up. We ended up sobering up and driving home at 5 in the morning. I don't understand why this company still has a job service...maybe the attorney general's office should investigate. I schedule rides for a handicapped fellow of mine...The cab service either picks him up late, too early, or never. The drivers are very anti-social and fail in dealing with the handicapped generation. When you cancel rides for appointments the cab has already picked him up anyways and then you miss that important appointment and you then have to wait for them to find him on which cab or they loose him in their system...either way you are sweating bullets cause you don't know what happened to him ...whether he or she is alright..did they drop him off at home where no one is there and the doors are locked because you are waiting at Beacon for him to come out and doesn't. The dispatcher plays and important role in this, the communications don't get placed to where they should go and that creates a lot of confusion and frustration on everyone's part. All in all I think this company needs an overhaul and needs to be let go ...In talking to managers there...doesn't mean a thing ..they tell you one thing and do another. I have been hung on plenty of times with this company it's shame they probably wrote my number down to not answer. I rarely take cabs. My car broke down at 2:45 am on my way home from work miles from home. I called 411 just looking for any cab service. When the operator read off the company name I requested the number since I've seen plenty of their cars around town. The car showed up within 15 minutes and I was home in no time. Suffice it to say, our friends with a pre-scheduled ride, and follow up confirmation call for an early morning international flight, are darn lucky they have multiple friends 5 minutes away who leave their phones on and answer at 4 am! Much stress for everyone concerned. I called for a cab at about 9 they told me it was going to be a 5 to 20 minute wait. 30 minutes goes by I call to check-in, they verified that cab would take less than 5 minutes, another 10 minutes passed I called once more, they told me the cab was about 2 minutes away, yet again waited another ten minutes then called a final time in which I was informed there was no scheduled pick up for the address I provided. This company is irresponsible ...no excuses. We reserved days ahead a cab for very early transport to the airport. We even confirmed the night before!! By 20 minutes PAST our pickup time in midtown, they still had not arrived and despite calling their dispatch twice this morning, NO ONE showed up. All the dispatcher said, who confirmed our reservation both times this a.m. was that they were sending a cab. We could NOT wait any longer without missing our flight - as it was, after driving our vehicle to the airport, our plane was boarding as we arrived at the gate. We will be away for a MONTH and are now going to incur huge airport parking expense because of Discount Cab's (now called 'Total Ride) failure to provide service. Crappy way to start our dream vacation and none of our preparations and reservations prevented this fiasco. I ordered a taxi on a slow Monday night. They estimated wait time as 20-30 minutes and after an hour I called to ask where they were. "They'll be there anytime" they said after another 45 minutes I started to walk the 5 miles home. I got a call on my cellphone after walking 3 miles and I told them to forget it I was more than halfway there! The only scary part was walking the Grant/Stone area at 11pm! The first time I took this company I was going to only 2 miles away. When I got into the cab, I told the driver where I was going. He told me the route he would take, and when I thought about it, it would actually add a mile or more to the meter. I looked at him and said NO. I then directed him which way to go. 7 dollars for 2 miles which is what it should be by their rates. 3 dollars drop and 2 dollars per mile. The second time I took it, I simply told them what route to take after giving the address. I was going only about 1.5 miles away. He drove straight there, and it was 6.50 for 1.5 miles. On my way home from the second time, I called them again. They got there fast which was good. I told them my home address and the driver started to head there. There was a little bit of traffic but nothing serious. The driver had to do a U-turn to get into the direction on Speedway that we needed to go. When we got the green arrow to do a u-turn, he all of a sudden does a normal turn. He goes down one block, and then turns left, and left again to go back to Speedway. Then we sit there for a long time waiting to turn right into the traffic. The place I entered the cab from was only 50 yards away and I had already somehow gotten 5 dollars on my meter charge. I said something to the driver and he got angry and blamed the traffic. When I asked why he did not do a u-turn back there, he gave some stupid excuse. When the meter hit 8 dollars I told the driver to stop and I was getting out. I was still a block from my house. The trip there from the same company cost 6.50 just 2 hours earlier. Today 9-14 I took one of your cabs from a Fry's Supermarket on 555 E Grant Rd after I completed my shopping. The cab had a trainee along with the regular driver(who is also an accident investigator. I had alot of bags when filling and emptying the cab. He helped me with both, so I tipped him 50% or $5. When I got me things into the house I noticed my ice never made it out of the cab, when he closed it and left. I figured okay 2 bags of ice - no big deal. By the time I emptied the bags and put things away, I found several things missing. I checked the receipt to be sure they were purchased. I also called Fry's to verify nothing left behind. I called Discount @1pm, they contacted cabbie and he said he would drop the bags off at my porch. @3pm I called again and they contacted him again and he said there was nothing in his cab, Question=what was he going to drop off 2 hours before and what happened to it? The agent on the phone suggested calling lost and found for these items, another question=If it was never left in the cab, then how would it get to LOST and FOUND? I have the cabbie's name, cell number and cab number and I am contacting the police over the weekend to possibly file a petty theft report against the driver and company. read more

If you are leaving to/from the University, don't bother. They don't seem to know anything about the campus. We ordered a cab 2 hours in advance for a guest visiting our department to go back to the airport. Somehow the driver was waiting up on N. Campbell! Why? We gave our exact address and even explicit directions on how to get to our building yet the dispatcher sends the driver up to the north side of town. We ended up calling Cool Cab, who showed up in under 7 minutes. Our department will most definitely NOT ever call Discount Cab ever again. read more

When i called in to see how much longer all they said was they would contact dispatch and send out a message to the closet cab. With all the bad reviews this company has already received, it seems unnecessary to add another, but be forewarned: DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS! I made an online reservation (and received a confirming e-mail) for a 4:30 am cab to the airport. When there was no cab at 4:40, I called the Tucson phone number and the guy that answered the phone didn't seem to know if a cab was coming or not but, in very halting English, seemed to suggest that for an additional fee my request could receive "priority" status. Incredulous, I asked him again if a cab had been dispatched as I had requested, and he indicated that a cab was on the way. By 5 am, and fearing that I wouldn't be able to make my flight, I drove out to the airport in my own car. If you don't have a back-up plan for transportation, I would suggest you book with another cab company. They deserve no stars whatsoever! read more
