After doing my homework I went into the store where I met Tony. First of all, he is a great listener, and after only a few minutes had completely understood my situation and objectives. He helped me sort zero in on the right grill, side burner, under cabinets, etc., offering tips as we went for me to like what I saw or keep moving. Bottom line is that he then discounted everything. No way could I ever get that service online nor would I expect to duplicate that price, free shipping on the exact day (a few weeks out in the future) when I wanted it. But here's the icing on the cake: one of the Blaze stainless steel cabinets arrived with door/drawer handles missing. This was the one in a million sealed box that somehow missed parts at the factory. I called BBQ Island/Tony to explain. I assured them that the box was still in my possession and had been searched many times, and they sent via Fed Ex replacement parts - no charge for parts or shipping - to me. Wow. It took a minute to figure out how the custom BBQ and delivery process worked but it was clear from the start that this transplanted California company was committed to making a good first impression on Arizona consumers since moving into the AZ market. We scheduled a time for Rudy to come out to our house to measure and help design our custom BBQ. We got what I considered to be a good Father's Day pricing deal on the unit and on delivery and we were told our unit would be ready for delivery in five to seven weeks. Right one time at the start of week seven, I got a call from Jesse (one of the Wholesale BBQ Island managers) to set up delivery. Our contract said I needed to inspect our BBQ before it got unloaded from the delivery truck. However, Jesse said my wife and I were welcome to come to their factory in south Phoenix to do a thorough once-over before our BBQ even got loaded. Jesse spent time with us during our inspection at the factory and we were really impressed with the unit's construction--this bad boy is constructed on a welded steel frame and certainly looks like it's built to last! After we inspected the unit, just to make sure there were no delivery issues, Jesse asked if he could come by our place that afternoon to make sure his crew could get our 12-foot unit safely into our back yard. He arrived a short time later (we're not really close to where he was coming from). After realizing there was no way to get our unit into our back yard through a side gate, he measured and figured out logistics. It would be a tight fit but we agreed on a delivery plan through the house and into the back yard. On delivery day, there was a mix-up on the delivery time. I texted Jesse after the delivery time frame had passed and within minutes, his crew showed up, apologized, and explained the delivery kerfuffle. I was working from home on delivery day so I was just a bit annoyed but not actually inconvenienced. And, when I saw the two delivery crew members busting their tails to get the tight-fitting unit into my back yard with no damage (to either my house or the BBQ) on one of the hottest days of the hottest Arizona summer on record, I was pretty darned impressed! The crew was polite, took their work seriously, respected our property and completely cleaned up after the unit was installed. The one thing the delivery crew didn't have on delivery day was the proper connector to hook up the 60,000 BTU side burner to a propane tank. A call to the company resulted in Rudy coming back out with the correct connector and installing it himself the very next day. Although the entire process wasn't 100% perfect (but few things are), any minor glitches got taken care of almost immediately (as noted above) with no grumbling and with a high level of reassurance that the company would do whatever was needed to keep the customer satisfied! The BBQ looks great and works as promised. My wife and I are thrilled with the product and we certainly believe we got a better deal with this custom fabricated unit than what we would have paid to have the unit built from scratch in our back yard. It's pretty clear this company wants to make a mark for itself in Arizona via great customer service and quality products. I highly recommend Whole BBQ Islands!

More concerning was the installation quality. The unit was initially tiled approximately 1" lower on one side, requiring it to be cut out and resulting in stucco that needed repair. The repair was done poorly, and I am now having to hire another professional to properly correct their work because they won't call me back. I specifically asked for the owner to contact me, but he never did, and my attempts to resolve the situation are now being ignored. Mistakes happen, but how a company responds matters. Unfortunately, Wholesale BBQ has shown a serious lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability. I gave them the opportunity to make this right and have essentially been ghosted. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Wholesale BBQ.

I swear all I wanted was a new pot for our indoor plant, but when you're there you remember that 15 gallon planter that's been sitting empty on your front porch, the potting soil you'll need to fill the new pot to replace the old, and a plant to go into it. Sure, I looked confused and lost and that's probably what clued Gina in on asking if she can drive us around in her golf cart and show us (but mostly my kid) all the plants, the bunnies that have made the fruit bearing tree section of Moon Valley Nursery their home, the birds that flock to their trees and all the different plants you could really ever want both indoor and out. "Daaamn Gina..." (is what was replaying in my mind on a loop, but I not dared to say out loud - throwback to 1990's Martin Lawrence sitcom, Thursdays on Fox) Had I never met you Gina, I would have probably found my new pot and made my way home having only the *one thing to do, but no, you had to go answer *all of my hundred questions about what plant will be good on my porch, no I don't want to attract bees to my front door, maybe something that won't grow taller than the ceiling of my porch, so those cool looking fruitless olive bushes are out, but boy do I wish I could put one there. So yes, as you may have already surmised, I left with our new pot, a bag of potting soil, a rosemary plant (because rosemary is actually a detractor for most insects and you can get fresh rosemary for your meals to boot) as well as a jug of their moon juice fertilizer. So... It's crazy how expensive this new pot for the rubber plant was $140, but look at all this other "free" stuff that came with it, right?!?!?... right?!?!?... Please don't tell my accountant that I spent too much on plants again. Well Gina, you were certainly wonderfully helpful, you answered every question I had and a few others I didn't, you made our visit more like an adventure through the nursery and helped me finish two projects with one visit. Whomever at Moon Valley Nursery is responsible for having hired Gina, you made wonderful choice!
