I recently switched to Direct tv and to say it sucks would be an understatement. First do your homework you will need to be prepared to call the help desk frequently. Billing is a freaking nightmare and even though we have a landline I wasn't prepared for the billing cycles and prorated charges. If I had it to do over I would throw the salesrep off the porch. Of course the tv package is probably pretty good but make sure you have a smart tv with Direct tv loaded to it or be prepared to buy a firestick or Roku. Another expense I wasn't prepared for. I have received several notices from DirecTV since canceling my service. I moved to a different state. Each notice shows an overpayment, with a credit balance of $44.95. When I go online to try to contact someone, the website tellsme that IO am no longer a customer. I just want them to mail me a check, instead of sending me notices showing my credit balance. Bookkeeping for DirecTV seems to only work in one direction: if you owe them money, they demand it, but if they owe you money it does not compute. read more

All I wanted from the rep was guidance on how to remove their disc from my front lawn. The rep I talked to was courteous, engaging, and then proceeded to try to SELL me DirectTV. I told him i was not interested in his product, and just wanted the disc removed. He then asked how I was getting my tv, and stupidly I told him by streaming. Then he asked how I was receiving local tv, and I told him I ONLY called to get a disc removed. He continued to try to sell me the product. Then he gave me a different number to call, which was also no help at all. The result? NEVER will I EVER do business with DirectTV, even if it were the last provider on Earth. This is the worst customer disservice imaginable. Not sure if they have outsourced 'Service' to Dehli or Bangladesh but it's almost impossible to get them & when you do, almost impossible to communicate with them. Only returned to get Sunday Ticket last year. As an inducement, the gave it to us free last year & we were to pay for it this year. For the first year, they had no problem accepting American Express as payment. All of a sudden this year, the claimed they could not get payment. We got American Express on the phone while in touch with Directv Disservice, only to find the never attempted to get paid from American Express. * I signed up for DirecTV service in June of 2017. * I signed up for the CHOICE Package at the price of $29.99/month * I also have an AT&T Unlimited cell plan which entitles me to a $25 monthly credit on my DirecTV account. NOT ONCE have I received a bill showing the correct balance due. Customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. The service is ok. The receiver is slow and sluggish but is supposedly their "best and most current" one. I wouldn't recommend DirecTV to ANYONE. If I could give this score ZERO STARS I would. I have buyer's remorse more than I can describe. I've been fighting and fighting with these people until I'm not sure what else to do. It has been a nightmare. read more

For example, right not they were scheduled to stream the Chic Filet A bowl (Pittsburgh vs. Michigan State) and their website says "check back latter". Internet went out. Said 3 days was the soonest they could get here. I said cancell my account. Just so happens the sent me a new modem i didn't needat the time. Came in handy, i swPped it out and got internet back. New Years day its out again. I go on line and make an appointment for between 10 and 12. At three o'clock i call ATT, they tell me they have no one in the field today. After cursing them out i told them to cancel my account. At 4:45 i get a call from a technician that he is 15 minutes away. He arrived, fixed the problem and left. I called DTV and told them NOT to cancel my account that everything was fine. The next morning i get up to no tv. Spent hours on phone talking to every Asian in Asia. I have a $86.00 plus balance and have been with them 20 years. My husband and I were very excited to have our cable bundle installed yesterday 9/12. Our appointment window was 9a-11a. I paid for after school care for my kids, since I'd be home with the tech during installation and was unsure of how long it would take. My appointment window came and passed. No one showed up, no one bothered to call me regarding it. I called and spoke with a fast speaking young man who apologized and said the tech cancelled my appointment. I asked why wasn't I notified by someone, to which he just apologized and offered to reschedule my installation... For the 21st... 9 days later! I ended up getting disconnected, learning I don't get reception in my basement (1st full day in our house). He never called back to follow up. I had to call back again, the young lady I spoke to read me the company's standard apology schpiel, then offered installation for the 22! I told her that was unacceptable, I made time for this appointment, paid for daycare (we're a one car family, my husband works for the Army and some days his hours are unpredictable), plus waited ALL day, only to be tossed aside like my time doesn't matter. Mind you this is my 2nd day as a customer. Two days prior I switched from my long time cell carrier to AT&T as an addition to the bundle with DirecTV. They treated me as if only their time was important and gave me a condescending speech about how busy they are and such. Your customers are busy too. Our time matters too. ZERO STARS I called because we had no tv. Jumped through all the usual hoops of unplugging, reset buttons, remote resets, etc. with department after department including a supervisor only to be told that a technician can come out 4 days from now. Nope. I cancelled my service (of course with yet another department) and they REFUSE to come and get the HUGE dish that is cemented in my yard. The rep actually said it was "mine to keep." Wow what great customer service. NEVER AGAIN and CAN'T WAIT to be completely done with AT&T. Oh and they started billing me for Showtime that I DIDN'T ORDER! We have switched to Google Fiber for internet and home phone. So far so good. Going full on with our fire stick and 40 mi range antenna. So glad to be done with those fools. For years, I ignored people telling me to cut the cable and get satellite, because I was concerned about the quality of the picture during a storm. Now, during the first storm following my DirecTV installation, it seems that I should have trusted my instincts. The call in center was worse and after just one day, I decided I would rather stick with Comcast. Everything was signed, sealed, and was just waiting on the delivery which wasn't meant to be. Very unhappy with our DirectTV, we have had it for three months, got our new bill and it jumped up over $50.00 a month.....I called to complain and ask them why, being a new customer the don't offer better packages and was told that we get what we order..... Well my son has direct in another town and he is paying more than half what we are paying and getting better channels...... We recently or thought we recently purchased the MLB extra innings package​ from ATT Direct TV. We sat down to watch the Nats and Diamondbacks this evening and it has been blacked out and after spending 40 minutes on the phone we still did not have a resolution. This also happened with the Football package. It's so discouraging to deal with Direct TV. The same questions are asked over and over again and we are rerouted several times and still no solution. The light bulb went on--we were dealing with agents in another country that have no idea what they are doing. We asked to be transferred to an agent in the US to find out that no one was available to take our call. We definitely have traded the witch for the devil. WORST customer service ever! If a zero were available, I'd give zero. I called last month to ask why my bill had gone up $30 despite supposedly getting a $20 credit. The rep Jonathan, said I w a s stuck with the $121.94 Bill because the bill had already gone out. But, after leaving me on hold a few minutes, he came back to assure me that next month my bill would only be in the 70's. I got my new bill on Friday and my bill was $122.96! I called and was told the same song and dance routine that it was due to the date of the billing statement. By now I was livid and had enough of the lies and excuses. I was put on hold and then transferred to someone who could cancel the service. My lunch was over so I had to hang up and call back on my break. The Caitlin I talked to had the nerve to ask if I was sure I wanted to cancel because my next bill would only be $33. Seriously? She said it took 2-3 billing cycles, but the next one... I told her they had gotten the last $122 out of me and to cancel. My next bill better be correct, or I'll be dumping AT&T as well! read more

If I could give this a zero I would. I had directv in 2015 I paid to cut my contract with them because of customer service. I got directv because they convinced me because of the perks. It's not worth it. There is a lot they don't tell you when signing your contract. Just recently I called because I needed a box in a bedroom they told me it was doing to cost me 99.00 for each box. OK, today, 2 days after this, I wanted 2 more channels and they said my price doubles. What? I could not believe it, 2 days later. So, I talked with the supervisor, the same, no luck. Since at&t took over the customer service is terrible. I called to cancel my never ending fee increased (try sling) bill. A human answered after being on the phone cycle for 15 minutes. The rep. took all my information and told me to hold for the cancellation dept. 20 minutes later the phone cycle started again, meaning never got transferred. Called back again gave the same information and was transferred once again. After 28 minutes on hold another person again took the same information and this time after another 38 minutes because of technical difficulties they finally cancelled my service. The AT&T people at Direct TV are the absolute worst of any customer service I have ever encountered. What a travesty. On June 18 I signed up for direct TV; they offered me an incentive for signing up for auto pay, so I did that. I found out the next day the sales rep had been dishonest with me about a few things. I called them on June 19 and cancelled my order. I was given a cancellation number. I received my credit card bill the other day and lo and behold, there was a charge on it from AT&T for $78.78. I thought it was for my cell phone and tried to talk to an extremely ignorant person who just kept reading me the same answer over and over again. Frustrating!! He NEVER understood what I was telling him. Today I discovered the charge was for Direct TV. I was on the telephone for over 30 minutes getting the total run around from FOUR different, very uninformed people who could not and would not, understand what I was telling them. Why do they hire offshore people who do not understand basic concepts??? So frustrating!!! I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. She was very nice, on the mainland and understood every word I told her. The charge has been removed---for this month. She assured me that AT&T would probably do the same thing again next month! Oh joy! Maybe I get to go through all of this again next month. I can hardly wait!! In the meantime, I keep telling myself "Don't ever do business with AT&T again." I agree with others who have said that DirectTV does not honor their loyal customers. After a decade of being loyal customers, never late on our bill once, we decided to change to Dish as we saw that they had a better offering of channels: as well, they were 1/3 less in cost. When we went to cancel on what we believed was the last day of our billing statement, we were told that even though we were paying on the day we called, the statement had actually closed the day before. When we asked if they could please give us a break and not charge us the whole $159 for the final month, them knowing we had misunderstood when our final day was, we were told no, and there was no one to turn to above the agent on the phone. We said that we felt this was not very honoring of over a decade of being good customers, and he would not budge. We were just a day over, and it didn't matter to them...and we were not even offered a prorated bill. This is not a good customer service company! read more

Once this Company had the best customer service in the business. If you don't have access to good cable they were by far the best option. In the last 5 years, & especially since being bought by AT&T, you now have to wait forever to get someone to answer, & their technology has to be the worst in the industry in my humble opinion. No voice use of any kind w/ their outdated remotes. Last summer I couldn't even find my recordings in my DVR's & that 'glitch' went on for 4-5 months! They have onerous , expensive, & lengthy commitments. If you disconnect, they charge you all the way thru you billing cycle anyway & leave you for up to a month without knowing what they want back?! It's sitting in a pile on my floor waiting. You know how hard it is to shake a 20 year customer from the comfort of a service you know? Well, they successfully did just that! If you try to call them to find out they will keep you on the line for hours transferring you from agent to agent until you get disconnected without an answer and a recorded message tells you to place your call again. Just hung up with "customer retention" because, well, Directv is once again raising their rates and I don't really utilize them anymore, especially at inflated-inflated-inflated prices. In the Entertainment package, you get 140 channels for $24.99 for 12 months and then $29.99 for the 2nd year in the 2 year contract. Thats pretty sweet! It includes channels like Animal channel, BBC, Discover channel, FOX, MTV, VH1, ESPN, TBS, TNT, etc. And the internet is provided from AT&T since DirecTV partners with a bunch of internet service providers and AT&T is DirecTV's Nashville internet partner. I don't think AT&T offers very fast internet though... read more
