Client decided to cancel after paying $200 a month for service for 11 years. When called to cancel was immediately told how he could save $50 a month!!! Customer thought that was a bunch of BS and when I had to cancel after much arguing about him not wanting to cancel he was told he would be refunded a check for over a $130. That was over 6 months ago still no check!!!. Absolutely atrocious customer service. We've been a Direct customer for over 19 years. I stopped getting one of the sports packages and they have continued to bill me for it and charge late fees. I have contacted them six times and they have no record of it. I was booted off the chat function three times when it was my turn. I tried chat because trying to talk to their call center in the Philippines is impossible. Between the language barriers and the script they phonetically follow, nothing is resolved. As I write this I am on hold for the fourth time on this call, each time longer than the last. A simple search on the web shows this type of problem has been going on for YEARS. If you go to their Forum community site, they employ a bot or an actual "human" who tells you that YOU are the problem, not Direct, and if you respond back, the bot/person, currently named "Jupiter", starts telling you about your apparent psychological problems. I kid you not. Now, I just was told by them I need to manage my bills better. Holy -----. I recieved the full credit just now that should never have accumulated in the first place, but it took me far too long and too many calls and chats for just $29.58. They've lost 2 million customers in the last year and will continue to lose more. Wholly incomprehensible how AT+T thinks this is a good business model. read more

If I could give 5 negative I would I had direct TV for less then 2 mos. Nothing but problems, Las straw was they gave me a defective equipment. Replace it and still charged me 99.00 dollars for tech. How are they still in service? It is very sad how they take advantage of people and how the heads of the company don't do anything about it. We called about our bill and the person who spoke with us said that our next months bill was going to be less for the next 12 months. That bill arrived and it's more! It is more than the original bill I had called about! I called direct tv again and spoke with someone and even with the "supervisor" but they did not honor what was promised to us. DO NOT GET DIRECTIVE SERVICE...I REPEAT DO NOT I have been a loyal customer for 7 years, and everything was fine until our rental company decided to go under a MDU account. ever since then I lost all access to my direct tv bill online and also through the automated system. I'm now left stuck with having to call in every month to get to the MDU direct tv rep to assist with taking that portion of my bill online. It is the worst nightmare ever. Not to mention I also lost access to pay my cable bill tru the automated system, Since last year of #2020 I've been telling them about my issue and none-of them has fix the problem I still do not have access to my direct tv bill online or tru automated system. not to mention every month I have to call them to pay my cable bill I get tossed all over the place as some of the customer service rep could care less about your problem.. this is horrible very horrible. AT&T (direct tv) are crooks. I would give them minus stars if possible! I tried to write the below review on the AT&T site & it kept kicking me off saying I need to sign in & then wont let me sign in. I never had a problem signing in when I was paying my bill!! Yet they BLOCKED me from posting this! So heres what happened... I canceled my AT&T DIRECTV service back in August 2019 (Started my service with Spectrum at the same time) and sent back the equipment to AT&T back soon after. I have no idea why but AT&T kept my acct open & continued to bill me. They said I never cancelled my service yet I called them multiple times asked them how to return their equipment (which I did). When they said I didn't cancel I told them to look at my past conversations with them about returning their equipment after I canceled, for proof that I indeed did cancel my account. They just continued to say I did not canceI & are insisting I pay this bill for $445 I con not afford nor do I actually OWE!!. I do not believe they should be able to charge me when I have no equipment and I am NOT using their services. They manipulated me by telling me they are going to send my account into collections & I know they have the power to ruin my credit. I cannot afford to have my credit messed up (I am trying to buy a house) because of their unfair business practice. The fact is that I cancelled my account & sent my equipment back & AT&T did NOT note it correctly. I have been fighting this unfair bill for months but THEY continued to NOT acknowledge their mistake. I cannot have a nic in my credit rating (it is perfect) so I am paying this unfair bill under protest! AT&T is a big company & they are bulling me. I am a handicap elderly lady living on limited income & they should be ashamed of themselves. AT&T has no ethics as far as I am concerned. Shame on them!! From bad to worse. Our receiver repeatedly fails to connect to the internet. I am unable to cancel pay channels online. Their hours only support the East Coast. Directv overcharged me $150 on my bill. I called to find out the issue. They had my address from more than 1 year ago even though I updated it last year and am getting bills at my new address. They said I have to call AT&T to get my address updated even though my bills are coming to my current address. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, Maria in Florida hung up on me. I was on the phone for more than 50 minutes, and I did not receive assistance. Incompetence appears to be the norm for this company. Overcharge and do nothing to help. I arranged a service call because of a faulty satellite dish. That was done and the tech acted professionally and safe. But while the tech was at my home a sales person showed up uninvited. He came to the door without a mask, asked if he needed to put one on, and invited himself in and sat at my kitchen table to upsell me a new package. Outrageous and unacceptable during a pandemic. Direct TV doesn't deserve a one star, they don't deserve any stars! They are a horrible company. We called & spoke to a customer service rep by the name of Wil, so he said. We told him of our problem and he was of NO help whatsoever. We told him the TV antenna/dish got blown down & is hanging and dangling over the roof. and could break loose at any time. We need someone from their company to come out & fix it or remove it and he said it's not their responsibility. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? NOT THEIR RESPONSIBLITY??? It's a huge liability if that thing breaks loose and falls on someone & kills them. We told him we wanted to speak with his manager, whose name supposedly is Sandy, but he wouldn't let us talk to her. Is there a zero star option? Direct TV is the absolute epitome of corporate greed and bullying. After being a loyal customer for over a decade with not a single late payment.... I lived through all there "technical difficulties" equipment "malfunctions" awful customer service and still paid on time. After years of zero accountability or the slightest attempt at valuing me as a customer I finally decided to cut the cord and disconnect from them. I clearly articulated when I cancelled that I wanted to pay everything I owed and be done with them. I was perfectly clear and concise in my communication. I paid up to my disconnection date of service and went over the terms of my disconnect several times verbally with the representative. I made sure I owed zero. I was told I was all paid and had zero balance and would not receive another bill so long as equipment was returned promptly. I returned the equipment within 48 hours of the conversation. 3 months later I received a bill. THREE MONTHS AFTER DISCONNECT AND CLARITY TBAT I OWED ZERO AND WOULD NOT RECEIVE ANY FURTHER BILLING! A couple months later I began receiving calls and letters from a collection agency. It's a total full on corporate manipulation to corner customers who canceled to pay "final costs" even after clearly being told my balance was ZERO and I would NOT RECEIVE FURTHER BILLING (so long as equipment was returned which it was) I'm embarrassed I maintained their service for so long given how awful their customer service and all the tech issues. If this review saves one person from this unethical, no principles company then it will be worth the time I am taking out of my life to write it. I can assure you that you will regret it once you get sucked into their contract vortex, crap customer service, technical delays and then manipulation and fraudulent billing practices. I wish there was minus stars options for them. I have over 800 credit score and that doesn't happen over night. If I could go lower, I would. I was canceling DirectTV from a property in Manhattan Beach. It is too expensive or I would have put it on the new property. In order to fleece people, DirectTV now does not allow prorated billing. To add to the fleecing, DirectTV has various billing dates. So, they don't prorate, and so when you move out on the 30th like most people do when they move, you get charged for an entire month instead of a prorated bill. My billing date is the 23rd so they want me to pay for a month when I had access of one week. Customer service supervisor even had the nerve to say yelp review were "subjective" as a way to address the almost 1600 reviews with the average score of 1 star! Customers be aware that you can change your billing date. Doesn't help me now but everyone should do that. I am looking for other ways to watch since DirectTV and ATT are into maximum profits (GREED) vs reasonable profits (controlled capitalism). So after being on the phone over an hour, the rep offers me $35! that is less than one week of the bill!!!! I am looking up which federal agency I need to file a complaint with. I will also file with the CPUC. read more

If I could give less that one star I would!! We had a technician at our home on Aug 30th to install direct tv and internet. He stated he was unable to connect the tv portion because the line would have to be buried. He said he put in a request and a third party crew would come install it and they would finish the install. Well, after 12 days of not hearing from Direct tv, we called. Spent 4 hours total being transferred trying to explain the situation and having the person on the other end of the phone tell us they had no order for tv. I went back through the request, they charged me 20 bucks for a connection fee and set another install appointment for today. The tech arrived today and immediately said he was unable to install direct tv and to call at&t uverse for service. So we reluctantly did, at&t stated that they did not provide tv service in our area. So now we are stuck with shitty WiFi, and I will never ever ever ever use AT&T or Direct TV again!! This is the worst experience I have ever had with a cable company. I plead with all of you to never sign up for their service. Customer service is the worst! When you call, they are wanting info from you instead of helping with your problem! Account numbers on bills do not match. After an average of about 30 minutes, their computer will conveniently show an error message. My remote stopped working and I am now on my 4th call to get it. Replaced. The new remote will cost me $15 or I can pay a monthly charge of $9 in case it happens again! This is my last phone call I am going to make before I cancel. read more

I am livid with this company and am sending them to small claims court. I was forced into establishing a service with them as my apt. complex has a contract with them and forces the service onto its residents, that wasn't explained prior to signing the lease. I had an NHL package added and the rep said it would be $40 total...not $40/mo! Additionally, I was told the NFL package was a promotion and $5/mo not $75/mo!! I have had a dispute with DirecTV in and in late January I was told they couldn't do anything about it but would review the audio recording from that conversation and would get back to me by Feb 10th. Well, it's far past the 10th and I still haven't had them review it and the representatives are telling me they are valid charges and that I have to pay. I am fed up and am suing them in small claims court. I kept all of my conversations with each representative along the way and they can't even validate what they said they would via recording. I get a call to tell me that my account is past due by $300 and that I need to pay. I had to reiterate that I have a dispute in and am not paying and want to terminate my service. Then, I was told that I would be incurring an early termination fee of $200 since I'm terminating my services prior to the 12-month period! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? I WAS FORCED INTO THEIR SERVICE AND NOW THAT I HAVE A DISPUTE, THEY ARE CHARGING ME EVEN MORE!? I sent a letter to their CEO and corporate offices to give them a chance to rectify this before going to court. I doubt I'll hear anything from them. On April 29th 2019, Direct TV sent two istallers to my home to change my plan from Spectum. Sad mistake, money is not always everything. One of the installer was in training so he was sent into my attic. I heard him crawling around and I did mention to him that the wires to the Spectrum service were in the office. They came after 530pm so it was dark when they completed the work. We signed stating that the installation was complete since all three TVs were working and on network. Our hallway is abut 35 sq ft so in order to see a damage you must look up. Well on May 6, we discovered that the installer damaged our ceiling so we filed a claim. The claim was denied in July this year stating that the installers stated that they did not damage our ceiling. You think the trainee will tell the truth. Unfortunately we did not ask for ID as we saw the logo on their uniform and did have an appointment. NEVER allow anyone in your home without getting full name and their DL information. Lessons learned. Claims said that we signed off saying "everything" was okay, so and the installer stated that he did not go in the hallway, were the reasons for the denial. We never walked through our home before or after with the intaller, so playing with words is a corporate way of playing games. All I want is for them to repair the damage they cause. Direct TV will not address the situation as they use a 1/2 star claims company name Adcomm to work on their claims. Beware of cheap, under-rated claim company when dealing with a high price Direct TV and ATT. I am not going to stop until someone listens to me. It is unfair what they have done. Been long time customer and HAD been extremely happy with everything. I don't know what is going on lately, but channels out of order . Another example. Right now 3/3/19 ;8:15 PM 3 Fox off (again!). NOT MY SYSTEM. ....Says "This channel is temporary unavailable???? Why is this happening the last few weeks several channels??? Now, opinion of their service is dropping like a rock. If they don't give me some kind of discount for missing channels I PAID FOR I'm gone! Hulu here we come!!! Oh, and tried to email so could contact them right now. In September, we switched from ATT U-Verse to Direct TV. The installer came out, was pleasant enough, but in the process of installing the cable through our wall, he damaged our wall. He gave us a phone number to call for someone to make the repairs, but it was a phone-mail box. My wife tried calling several times and never received a call back. Here we are, 2 months later, and no call back. The other day, my wife finally talked to someone on the phone, who transferred her to another number, and yet another. No one seemed to know who to connect her to to fix our wall. So today, more phone calls to try and get this thing resolved. Direct TV, don't you guys care about customer satisfaction? Don't you care when your technicians damage people's property? In today's competitive environment, don't you care that people have options that will affect your bottom line? You are awful, your business structure is awful, your products suck and don't work and every single person that works for your company is completely unaware of what is happening at your business. Every single employee gives out different inaccurate information and I have been screwed over by you 20 times in the past year and a half I had to deal with you. I have probably spent 50 hours on the phone with your CS department that has actually never helped but somehow made everything worse I legit have never had a worse experience with ANY business in the last 20 years than I have with you. I have had directv for 30 years. Was horrified that AT&T bought them out. I knew it would be nothing but trouble. I was right. 5 years ago I finally got rid of AT&T for internet and phone service because of all of their fraudulent billing. I hate having to deal with them now for my satellite service. They now have decided to bill me for internet service that I DO NOT HAVE WITH THEM!! And they also said I did not pay a bill, not only did I pay it early, but they already had it posted into their computer. WOW 2 counts of fraud in one transaction. It is illegal to charge a customer for services they are not providing and to say someone did not pay when they already have the money in their hands. I have already filed a complaint with the FCC and I am contacting their corporate office. I will not tolerate AT&T always thinking they are above the law. This is the worse company. I have contacted the Off. of the President at least 25 times to get my service to work properly. After 2 yrs. I finally got a tech out and had to pay for it and he said they never programmed my system. They also attached the dish to a brand new roof which I rent and had to pay for. The three times they came out never was before 5 pm so I wasted 3 vacation days. They gave me credit and said they would monitor my service and make sure I recd. everything they promised and never heard back from them or got my service. They do not care about their customers but want the contracts. I ordered and paid for an extra box to add a TV in my garage and they automatically added another yr. to my contract. I can't get rid of them unless I want to pay an early cancellation fee which I didn't sign or agree to. I can't get rid of this piece of crap company. The recordings for customer service are a joke. They never can find them when you ask them to play them back to listen to their promises. They lie from the Off. of the President all the way down. Never Never again. read more
