The service is the best available for streaming tv. I was able to migrate my service from satellite to streaming without much hassle. Although they do their best to retain satellite customers when you cancel by making this change I am saving significantly. Value has gone DOWNhill for past 10 years , and I have had Directv over 23 years , since its inception . I did a little research and found out due to bad service they have lost millions of customers over past 10 years. Let's start with service, currently I have NO Directv service because I refuse to pay them any more money . I paid my service on 5/28/25 of 258, they sent email we owed 275 also , so I paid the 275 on 6/5/25 as debit transaction. Well by 6/7/25 , they cut our service off , supposedly due to they did not receive the 275, mind you it was Debit and I could see the amount was sent to them by my bank . Well I called customer service on 6/7 , 6/9, 6/10. I was told " oh your payment was reversed , we never got it so we reversed it " , huh ??. How do you reverse a payment that you are telling me was not received. Ok , fast forward I called my bank more than few time, I went in bank and got a transaction record , I waited till 6/15 , to see if Directv reverse (?) payment . Nope , never happened . My money was still gone out of account. Now I go into my bank and file a fraud investigation against Directv , because our service was still off, and they still saying they never received it. I also filed a FCC complaint, and BBB complaint , because as I said we have had them for 23 years. Why would I go thro the trouble of filing complaint if I payment was not sent . Someone from their ' executive' office called after the FCC complaint. She did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue . I told I filed a fraud with my bank, changed my debit card , she seems to think the matter was closed. NOPE LETS forward to 6/25/25 , we still do not have service m they had already put the on 6/7/25 the 275 was back onto what the new bill , and I considered paying it in July . BUT on 6/25 , they added the 275 ON again , now the bill is over 700$$$ huh ? WTH ! in an email it's says they are ' reversing the 275' payment , 2nd time . Nope I'm not paying anything. I sent recent email , along with initial billing to FCC . Now I get a different person calling me from ' executives' office , honestly I do not want to speak with any of them , I want a credit of 275 ( now that they billing 275 twice , plus June bill 283) . I am fine without service, as far as I'm concerned we only owe 465$ , i may pay it down the road . Service still off . We are doing fine with ALL streaming devices , services , on TV , laptop and iPads . It's sad they lost a very long time customer. read more

This is not my usual review, so bear with me because I see this as a public service message. Like everyone else here, I have a very low opinion of AT&T, which now owns a 70% stake in what was once a fantastic company, DirecTV. AT&T has to be the worst service provider I have ever experienced. Why? They are completely indifferent to normal US customer service and business practices. I don't know where they are now based, but I have understood that they are not American-owned and are the old AT&T in acronym only. High prices, agents unfamiliar with local needs and culture, a payment policy with absolutely no grace period, and should you ever wish to cancel their services (my landline was with them), they make it a months, if not years-long, ordeal at the end of which you will pay them for the privilege of being mistreated. That said, DirecTV satellite service is the only reliable contemporary television system available where I live in Los Angeles. Fed up with the high monthly cost and all of the above-listed negative features of AT&T, we decided to try the main alternative cable company's streaming service, for, supposedly 75% of the cost of our DirecTV monthly fee. It was very easy to switch it on while we still kept our DTV for a few weeks, as we had just paid for the month. Disaster. Streaming isn't cable. Now, let me also say, I got rid of my cable service twenty-six years ago when I lived in another part of Los Angeles. That service provider was so incompetent, so terrible, that I personally took the box and stood in a long angry line to return it and get the satisfaction of putting it into the hands of the sorry person at that cable store. I then switched to satellite with DirecTV and for about 18 blissful years enjoyed flawless transmission, a huge selection of channels and a low price along with exceptional customer care. Then, sadly, DirecTV was sold to AT&T and everything changed 180 degrees. Except the transmission quality and the competence of the technicians. So, here we are. We are back to DirecTV/ATT for those two features. Nothing compares to their quality. The servicemen are on time, have long experience and very professional. The satellite transmission is rarely compromised (by weather, typically and by animals chewing on or dislodging the wire connection from the in-home units to the satellite). If you think you will have the same seamless TV transmission with streaming, think twice. We were using our internet provider for this new streaming and it was terrible. There were constant delays, it kept exiting if we weren't switching channels frequently, and we were not able to get all the channels we like that we have with DTV/ATT, like TCM and PBS. As flawed as that company now is, their local personnel/repairmen and even some of their foreign agents who answer the main number when you have a problem, are good and sometimes exceptional. The entire industry is not what it once was, but that has to be balanced with the myriad channels and entertainment they now provide. We learned a difficult lesson and are staying with DirecTV as long as the service and servicemen continue to be as good as they are right now. Hope this helps! read more

This is a classic case of "bait and switch". I was promised when I transferred over from AT&T's U-Verse to DirecTV streaming, that there would be absolutely NO difference in the channel selection OR CONTENT. Unfortunately, after SEVERAL attempts to work with DirecTV (to include their "Office of the President" customer relations office), DirecTV CONTINUES TO DISAVOW ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT PROVIDING THE PROGRAMMING THAT IS BEING ADVERTIZED ON ONE OF IT'S CHANNELS!!! (e.g., the H&I channel). I don't watch a lot of TV during the week however, when I see a program I want to watch (e.g., 12 O Clock High, Black Sheep Squadron) ... and it is ADVERTIZED during commercials ON THAT CHANNEL, I expect to view it. DirecTV has CONTINUOUSLY failed to address this issue, stating they have NO control over the H&I streaming channels offerings. This is COMPLETELY FALSE! DirecTV has a CONTRACT with its channel service providers. Attempting to blame the channel service provider by using the LAME excuse "we have no control over them" is a FALLACY. All they have to do is to reengage with them during their renewal contract negotiations to correct this shortfall. Time to start looking at ALTERNATIVE (e.g., Sling) TV service providers! read more

Their receiver failed. I was forced to call a foreign country to resolve it. Connection was horrible and I could hear other conversations going on at the same time. My options were to wait 31 days for the next available appointment OR wait 7 days for them to ship me a new receiver, install it myself (saving them a service call), drive to FEDEX and return the faulty one to them AND pay them $20!!! I pay them thousands of dollars a year for their service and when their receiver fails I have to wait 7 to 31 days for them to resolve it and if I want it resolved in 7 days I have to pay $20 - all because of their faulty equipment!? PEOPLE PLEASE BEWARE OF DIRCTV. THEY ARE THEIVES. Directv demands that customers email or mail a copy of their driver's license to either open up or close an existing account. I was forced against my better judgement to mail a copy of my driver's license to Directv in San Juan PR to transfer an account to another person. A few months later low and behold I get a letter from a collection agency that I owe Directv $219.00 for service they provided in Nebraska. I was never in Nebraska, nor do I know anyone up there. I demanded they show me a copy of the driver's license the person provided to them in order to open up the account in the first place. They refused that request. They must have opened up that account using my license. I was told I had to forward my driver's license again to them and I said in plain ENGLISH, NO NO NO NO NO. As an over 30 year loyal customer, I have always enjoyed Directv services until AT&T purchase them and outsourced their customer service team whereby English is not their first language.The agents always try offer a lot of platitudes, but in the end they are shrewd and unwavering. Recently, I switched to a streaming provider for six days, and decided to return to Directv. After two hours of speaking and haggling with them over $16 we made a 24 month no contract/no agreement (their words) term settlement to restore my identical service plan and 2 paid channels as they were for a 2 year fixed price. The price was a slightly higher offer than what had been offered the week before canceling, but the offset the cost by giving me some gift cards, Today, a day later, they reneged on the terms and refused to budge. I am very disappointed in their poor business practices. However, I prefer the satellite service and convenient remote control accessibility. AT&T is not a reputable company any longer, neither for tv or cellphone. Not because of the services they provide, but rather their poor communication customer service, which is everything when you're giving people, your money! I'm very disappointed in Directv today. I had a service call between 8-12. Around 12:15 the contracted technician had not shown up or called. I place a call to be told the technician was running late and was on the way. The technician did not call or txt starting he was running late. I wouldn't have known this if I hadn't called. 2:20 still no technician. Placed a second call to be told the technician is on the way. If I wanted an appointment between 12-4 I would have asked for an appointment for that time. I asked for my appointment for the morning hours of 8-12 for a reason. The customer was the absolute last person they cared about.When I called to cancel, the service rep started yelling at me, when he asked why I was canceling. Absolutely terrible. I have had DIRECTV for over 20 years. For 20 years I never had a problem with them. But now, I have called them three different times to come to my condominium to adjust my DIRECTV dish. Each time they roll up in a truck with Ladders on their roof. But when they get here, they say they're not allowed to go on the roof anymore. I have told the person making the appointment that I live in a three-story building. They say no problem, we will tell the technician they need to be able to access the roof. They could easily access the roof through my bedroom balcony and would need a 5 foot ladder. But each tech says nope. DIRECTV does not allow their workers to go on the roof. I asked the tech so what now?I pay $150 a month, I have no service, because you guys can't fix my satellite dish by going on the roof. He shrugged his shoulders and said yes that's how it is now. As part of working on the estate of a senior military retiree who died earlier this year, I had to contact DirecTV. With cancellations and prorations, the service ended with a credit of $47.13. Instead of actually issuing the credit to the estate, they sent a monthly statement with the credit. We then contacted the company again (in August, months ago) and "Ian" indicated a check would be issued to the estate in "7-21 days." THIS NEVER HAPPENED. What an epic failure. SHAME on DirecTV. By the way, another family member actually worked for Hughes and DirecTV when this was started. She actually built and helped launch the first set of satellites for the service, and our family had some of the lowest customer numbers in existence. Additionally, our family had items added to a time-capsule added to one of the satellites. We have positive history with the company. THIS experience, however, was not even remotely positive. I have been a DirecTV customer for almost 4 years. When we made an in-town move DirecTV used that to say we needed to start a new 2 year contract and rates would go up. We said no thanks we'd like to cancel. But the rep told us to go ahead and make the move and then we would be able to call and secure a lower rate because we had been loyal customers. When we called as instructed, we were told there were no better rates available and that if we cancelled we would owe a $220 "early termination" fee despite being a customer for almost 4 years. We did the math and decided it was still worth it to cancel. Turns out our cancellation fee was actually $449, which was auto-charged to my credit card. I will be filing this with the Better Business Bureau and I truly cannot believe DirecTV thinks this is an acceptable business practice. I moved to streaming DirecTV Now from Spectrum Cable a couple months ago. After two months I have found some positives and some negatives. The main positive is price. Adding what I pay to DirecTV Now, and what I pay Spectrum for 200 meg internet, I'm still saving $100 a month. I have all the channels we watch and HBO, plus 20 hours of Cloud DVR is included. We do not have all the garbage channels that cable companies like to use to bloat their packages. The Cloud DVR is in Beta, I guess that's why it's free right now. The DVR definitely needs work. If you're used to regular DirecTV or Spectrum DVR, the NOW system can be extremely frustrating to deal with. Now the negatives: First and foremost, there is NO live customer service. Everything must be handled over the internet. Occasionally the picture just stops for a few seconds, for no apparent reason. Today, Thanksgiving, their service just stopped. No one to call, nothing. I tried the internet and could not get any help there either. I did all the things suggested on their web site......nothing worked. So I'm dead in the water with no recourse. I assumed, wrongly, I was the only one having a problem. When I searched the internet for outage information, it turned out DirecTV Now was having problems all over the U.S. All in all my service was messed up a couple hours. If saving a significant amount of money each month is worth the problems, this is for you. However, if you want a smooth operation and interface 24/7, you may want to look elsewhere. Signed up for their electronics protection plan years ago.... Save yourself frustration, time and money and do NOT sign up for this nonservice. I've been lied to by the representatives who answer at the protection plan call center and by supervisors after my call was "escalated". I spent (literally) more than 1/2 a day on the phone, was sworn at, hung up on and lied to by the employees and then found one person who seemed to want to help. I was told I could leave messages for her and she could call me back, until the issue was resolved. When I called today (4th business day after promises were made) I was told I could not speak to that person and that it had been determined it was more economical for them to replace our tv (no one had contacted us) than to repair it. Now the representatives indicate they may take until next Tuesday to contact us with the replacement options. So far, this process has taken nearly two weeks and by next Tuesday it will have been more than three weeks. spending the money for the protection plan was intended to save us difficulties and frustration, not multiple them! Now, when you called them you spend an average of 25 minutes or more and they keep transferring people more and more people that you can hardly understand, how we all know they bare in India or whatever country. Hardly understand and they read a script and they can't help you. Try to push channel you don't care for. Like myself yes I would like to have premium channels but they always play same movies over and over. Nothing is new. A very spiteful company. When I was with Directv years ago I left an accurate and negative review here- Very much along the lines of what has been posted. Bad customer service, contract agreements that were beyond comprehension, just a bad company to do business with. I terminated my service and was done. Within a few months I started getting calls from the directv call center, but no one speaking. 2-4 calls a day, nothing but the background conversations in the call center. I called back and they denied calling, said they put me on a no-call list and weeks later the calls did stop. Now I'm getting non stop marketing calls again for directv and att, multiple times a day with no way to get through to a person. Beware of how petty they can be. read more

I would leave less than one star if I could.  They owe me a refund.  After getting several emails that the check was in the mail, instead I got a prepaid debit card with the amount that has a ton of caveats.  The letter has a note on the bottom that instead of a card, if I go online I am entitled to a check.  Can't find that information online so have spent the last TWO hours getting tossed between departments (customer service to loyalty to ATT rewards and rebates to ATT billing to DirectTV billing to Collections who just tried to send me BACK to rewards and rebates) who all say its not their problem or they don't know who cuts the checks or that I should have gotten a check they don't know who sent a debit card.  Beyond frustrated and glad I canceled service. read more

I could write a novel about my complaint with Direct TV service, but I will not bore you to death. I was a ATT Uverse custmomer for several years and found the cost of service became extremly high and decided after seeing their promotion, that I would get their Direct TV streaming service WITHOUT satellite, because I have high speed fiber optics in my home and did not wamt a dish on my property. That is when my nightmare with Direct TV started. I went directly to an ATT "Owned" store to make the switch. I brought the promo ad with me and said please switch me over. I told them I wanted the basic TV $69.99 package because I watch mostly movies and the news and only a few shows in the lower channels. When I got my first bill it was $150 something dollars. I said what the heck is this? I called the store and he said it was the cost of the remotes and that if I went and got Roku remotes, I would drop the costs of my bill. But that only reduced my monthly cost by $20.00. I told him, we are still way above the $69.99 your promo guranteed. He said well you have the sports package added. I said I told you that I did not want the sports package, I subscribe to MLB and I was clear about that at the store. He then said after removing things I DID NOT ASK FOR, that my monthly bill would be now only $85.99. NOT! The next bill came in at $120.00. I then go back to the store and he now says to me rhat the additional amount is for taxes, and other fees. I say, that can't be possible? Are you telling me that these other charges are $50.00 with a bill that should only be $69.00, He then says we never had a promotion of $69.99 the lowest was $85.99. Now I am freaking out at this man. I said that it was $69.99 and we went back and forth. I threw the ad away so now it is my word against his. Today I was able to get a copy of the ad and I p-lan on shoving it in his scamming face. That is only the start, of my problem with their service. I could record programs, but I could not watch them because the only option I got was "Delete". No matter what I did I could not watch a recorded program even though I successfullu recorded it. I went to Direct TV tech support not once but several times since Nov 2023 trying to get that inportant feature to work. After not being able to fix the paid for service they told me it was Samsung's problem and not theirs. So I go to Samsung's Tech Support, and explained my problem. I even gave them remote access ro my Smart Flat screen new 75" TV. They looked over all the possiblities and even assured me all apps were up to date, but they were unable to correct my recording problem and insisted it was a problem with the Direct TV app. So they contacted Direct TV tech support while I was on the phone and we then had a three way going trying to correct the problem. They took out the App and reloaded it a few times while doing other things NOT! After THREE HOURS of being on the phone Direct TV then comes back to me and says that it seems that many other customers are having a similar issue, and that I needed to give them a couple of weeks to correct it. It has been a month and I still have the issue and not heard back from them. The tech assured me that he was writing evererything up so that anyone at their company would see what had transpired so far. Today I called again and they wanted me to explain what the problem was and I told them to read all the notes and I was told there were no notes. So as of this moment, I am being not only ripped off on the bill, but paying for a service I am not getting in it's entirety and am waiting back for a call from a supervisor to again for the umpteenth time try for a resolution to both issues. The store says the issue with getting the bill adjusted to the service I wanted was with the promotion department, and the promotion department says it is with the store that made the error. I am still paying the higher amount for a fully non functioning service. And to those who have gone through similar issues and have to deal with foreign nationals, with strong accents and can't understand what they are saying, and being forced to say, "please repeat that, I can't understand you," I agree. The worst customer service I have ever seen . I have been a customer since 1999. I pay of $300 a month for service and they can not correct a remote issue on the phone. They have to send a tech after 3 weeks of not working. They use to have fantastic service .
