We have had direct TV for two years now and never had a problem other than the prices. Their customer service is fine I guess. Anything is better than Charter. My husband and I recently decided to get rid of TV overall and called to cancel. They were very friendly but were very pushy to try and get me to stay. They gave me every offer they could to try and get me to stay. I have never really had a problem with their TV or the channels they always worked fine rain or shine. But I will say this, if your contract is up and want to save a little money, call and let them know you do not want their service, you will be pleasantly surprised in your savings. read more

All installers and service personnel have been great. My problem is with DirectTV the corporation. Billing has been a nightmare. We signed up at Sam's at a kiosk. First mistake. We were promised big discounts for six to twelve months. The discounts dropped off after three and when I called to complain I was told it would take up to ten days to correct the error. Ten days! Plus, none of the four persons I talked to could explain why, much less correct the problem immediately. Add to that that my service plan ($7.99) was increased to $19.99 without my permission. For a decade I was a loyal customer. Paid like clockwork (on auto-pay). I would have stayed with them if my new home had visible sky to install a dish. When I ended the service, they took over a month to issue a refund... in the form of a "no cash withdrawal CitiBank Debit" card. So, for years they get my money on time and early. Actual cash. The refund is something hardly usable. And will be difficult to get the full balance off of (some oddball amount because of partial month of service). Its a scam to be able to keep part of the balance I am owed. I just don't know who is the bigger crook... If DTV keeps what I can't get off the card, or if CitiBank does. Easily the worst subscription television company in the area. We originally got DirecTV years ago after getting conned into switching from Dish Network. The idiots whom installed the DirecTV system didn't ground their equipment correctly and the first time we had a storm, most of the appliances in our home blew out. They came out and replaced their system, although we had to replace our appliances ourselves. Then when they offered Hughes Net, my cousin got it for his house across the creek from us. When his mother died and their home burned down, he moved in with us and brought his Hughes Net system over here and we got it all set up. When he moved in with his brother a few months later, we tried to get them to transfer it over to us (since we were already paying for it each month, anyway). They needed to speak with my aunt, first.... screw the fact that she was dead. Apparently, that didn't matter. When we finally got that temporarily taken care of and it was time to renew or cancel the service, we cancelled it. They then attempted to charge us for additional months AFTER the cancellation date. Suffice to say, they've been unable to get that money from us (especially since they were still trying to go through my dead aunt to do it). We finally went back to Dish Net. The service was a heck of a lot more reliable and their technicians actually helped you when you called. This past summer, though... DirecTV tried once more to sucker us away via a Dish Net/DirecTV salesman. Yeah, I'm calling him out. He tried contacting us for a month saying that he could get us the Hopper from Dish Network and upgrade our system. He drove out here in his Dish Network van, and after meeting with him for about 40 minutes (and describing all of the problems we'd had with DirecTV and how we'd never ever go back to them), he says that for us to get the Hopper, we'd have to cancel our Dish Network account and sign up with DirecTV for two years, then go back to Dish Network when it was over. Yeah... Dish Network guy told me to cancel our service and take up with DirecTV. Sorry, but the Hopper upgrade ain't worth putting up with DirecTV, again. Period. read more

If I could give MINUS stars I would. 1. I did not authorize DirecTV or their contractors to uninstall my Comcast Internet Cable in order for them to install their DirectTV cable. Their improper and/or lazy installation methods left me without internet for over a week. Since I rely on internet for my work, their incorrect installation cost me hundreds of dollars in lost income and time. I offered to return their equipment but their agents instructed me to throw it out as it is not worth anything to them. 2. My landlord was very unhappy with DirecTV's installation for two reasons. First, their contractor installed DirecTV cable along the side of the building, it is an eyesore. He did not authorize this type of installation, nor did I, and he was not here when they were installing their equipment. Furthermore, DirecTV is the only utility to run their cable along the side of the building. And finally, my landlord is from Poland and is polish speaking, later on he admitted to me that he just signed the agreement because he was embarrassed that he cannot read english. DirecTV failed to provide an agreement for my landlord in Polish. 3. Our picture was regularly snowy during our preferred programming, and we feel this is either normal for DirecTV and/or we shouldn't be repeatedly required to host DirecTV service personnel and lose 2-4 hours of our workday due to DirecTV's ongoing improper installations and/or faulty equipment. 4. Do Not Authorize DirecTV installation of their Satellite System at your address! They have numerous complaints with the FCC, BBB and State Attorney Generals. SO TERRIBLE! After trying to leave what was an already terrible company in At&t u-verse I went to Direct Tv and a month later At&t buys them. SWEET! 3 weeks of trying to get someone out for service I finally get cable. Immediately the remotes and the boxes hardly work. I called direct tv within 3 days and they said I would have to pay to have someone out and pay to exchange the boxes. Finally got sent to retention department, another great experience for a dispute of $19.95 when I said I would look for another provider, I was told if I wanted to pay the disconnect fee that was my choice and transferred me to another department that had nothing to due with my issue. I'm not sure if this is the location who sent out my installer, but he was absolutely WONDERFUL! He called to let me know exactly when he would be there (no guessing game with a 4 hour window) and was prompt and courteous. We were in the process of moving into our new house, and he was nothing but pleasant, up beat, and caring. You can really tell he enjoyed his job was very helpful explaining everything that DirecTV can do. I was coming from cable at my apt so I wasnt sure about satellite, but I am SO glad I did! I called last month because my bill was steadily going up to a point where I was paying over$150 a month for 2 tv's.,so I called and I was told that My bill was now down to $87..Now I get the bill this month and my bill is back to $150. So I called customer service again... I talked to Antoine he told me that I would need to talk to the loyalty group.,He transferred me to cancellations and then they transferred me to Luke in Loyalty. Luke explained to me that in February I was told that my bill was $23.27 and in reality the bill was $150. So then my bill went back up to $150.,so I paid the $150 yet again this month. And Luke supposedly gave me another credit of $50 and I told him we will see I can't trust Directv. My girlfriend and I had the worst customer service experience of our lifetimes with Direct Tv. First we were given false information while signing up for our service which in turn caused us the have to call customer service almost immediately. We thought we had resolved the issue but to no avail there was still a simple problem persisting that was keeping us from using the package we had paid for. So my girlfriend called back again after already spending about two hours on the phone the previous day only to be transferred multiple times one of which was a dead end line. Then after fully explained the situation to 3 different people including a supervisor we opted to just cancel the service and be refunded because it was way too stressful and time consuming to solve what seemingly was a simple and easily solved problem. I wouldn't recommend using their service and good luck to anyone cancelling theirs because it took 2 hours. Life Shield was part of a bundle with DirecTV. The alarm would not set because sensors kept coming disconnected. We used the tablet to disconnect those sensors so the alarm would set. On two occasions the alarm went off and we received no call or emergency services. We decided to cancel services and called customer service to inform them and return the equipment. I was told by customer service that they would continue to charge my bank despite me withdrawing my permission because of the contract, and they would not accept the return of my equipment until I paid a $430 early cancellation fee. And if you don't send the equipment back AFTER paying your account in full, they will charge you for the equipment! crazy! We also cancelled DirecTV. They took the equipment back but are also charging an early termination fee. Some bundle! I spoke to multiple people plus sent complaints and emails. No response. Both companies take your money after providing poor service. They don't consider their service poor unless you tell them about everything that is wrong when it happens, so that they can try to make you happy. Who has time for this with a full-time job and a family?!! I should call companies everyday to complain about what THEY do wrong OR it is my fault! Never do business with Life Shield or DirecTV. They are both just hiding behind contracts to make easy money. And Life Shield if even worse by refusing to lower your cost by letting you return the equipment. The service itself wasn't horrible, but they ruined it with what they do to customers. I called to cancel my service just after the end of a billing period. I was told that my service was canceled and that I would receive boxes so I can send the equipment back. I never received the boxes. I did receive a bill for that entire next month. I thought maybe they would only charge for part of the month, since I canceled at the beginning of a billing period, but no. They charged the full month. The next month's bill date was approaching and I still hadn't received the boxes. I received yet another bill for that next month. So I called them to see what was going on. They said that they never received a call from me so it never got canceled. I assured them that I spoke to someone who even tried to convince me to keep the service, but I had declined. This didn't matter to them because they said they didn't see any records of ever receiving a phone call from me. So I guess I must have spoken to a ghost? Anyway, they said that they can cancel it for me this time around for sure. I am not the only person this has happened to. I know 2 other people who went through the same exact thing. They called to cancel. Directv never canceled, just continued sending bills. Then when they called Directv again, they were told that it was never canceled. I guess Directv does this to everyone to try to get some extra money at the end from canceling customers. And I'm not even going to get into how they lied about getting 3 months free for an additional service. They started charging right away. read more

*Beware* We had Direct TV installed in our new home in Sachse. While the AT&T installer was at our house another AT&T employee showed up under the guise as an installer there to assist. Had I known he wasn't working with the installer I would have tossed him out. This guy began talking to my Wife about our wireless phones and how he could beat the deal we had with Verizon by 100 dollars with the exact same plan. Unlimited data and 3 lines. We have my Wife's Mother on our plan because she lives alone and has medical issues. He guaranteed that all phone numbers, and plan for the 3 lines would remain the same. He took both of our phones and said he was mailing my Mother in Laws phone to her in New Jersey within a day. He then gave us a card asking us not to contact AT&T with any issues, but him directly. I should have known then that he was a Scam Artist, and AT&T was doing some bad business. Not only did our bill only go down by 25 bucks, but that was for 2 phones. He could not be reached, and AT&Ts Customer Service Representative spoke very little English and said we had no recourse. He all but admitted the AT&T Scam Artist lied, and we would need to purchase another phone and line. Not only that, but now the exact same service we were getting before with Verizon was going to cost me an extra 120 bucks a month. This guy slimed his way in our home as a Direct TV installer uninvited, and stole from us. Lied and AT&T said tough S**T Pal. AT&T left an elderly ill Widow with no communication or concern for her position she was put in by one of their employees. Verizon stepped up and gave her a phone at no cost and put her on the same plan as before with an upgrade. We are in the process of going back to Verizon, and installing the Dish. The phone service with AT&T is horrible even if they hadn't lied and stolen from us. The Direct TV was good and hate to lose them, but as long as AT&T has anything to do with them we wont. Filed with the BBB and our HOA. HOA said we weren't the first in our area to be scammed by these AT&T Scam Artist, and that AT&T knew they werent supposed to come to your house uninvited selling you junk. Just beware! ATT/direct TV - they over bill me every single month. Another 120.00 over billed this month. AT&T billed me for Roaming in NC! I was like REALLY, I haven't been to NC. They had to credit me also again for it as well as I have unlimited everything but then they charged me for going over my data and text plan. Really, I'm unlimited. At 7 p.m. Tonight, 1-31-2020, I received a telemarketing call from Directv/ATT trying to sell me satellite service from 1-482-788-7704. When I told the caller that I used a streaming service, he said Fu_k you, mother f__ker and hung up on me. Is this the kind of people Directv and AT&T have soliciting business for them? I contacted Directv at 877-535-1613 and spoke to a representative (Badge #NC2868) explained to her my situation and she proceeded to transfer me to a marketing supervisor and of course the call disconnected. They installed a week ago Friday - the guy left without the remote working, he didn't plug in the right wires so that it would work, the wiring job - well, you see the pictures. They come back out today to "fix" the problems. What a joke! The guy tells us that there will be an additional $50 charge to correct the wiring problem! My husband, understandably annoyed, asks if there will be a charge to correct the outside wire just dangling on our patio - the tech gets rude and accuses my husband of being rude to HIM which Vic was NOT rude to him!! This appointment is for a re-occurring problem, I keep loosing signal because DTV refuses to move the satellite dish. Its too close to parking and they say thaey move it. Now DTV decided on the spot. I've been a DirecTV customer a few different times. I was excited to move out of an apartment to be able to get the service again. Unfortunately, this time things were different. I've had 4 different installation appointments missed, with no notification from DirecTV any time (they just never showed up). Upon calling, customer service let me know that the services were missed due to thunderstorms in my area (it didn't rain in the 5 days leading up to the last appointment). Leading up to the appointment, I would get somewhere between 1 and 3 reminder calls, most of which were a recording that was halfway through playing when I answered. When I would call for a status update at the end of my appointment window, DTV would have no insight on timing of arrival. In addition, if the appointment would get delayed, they would have the third party (Mastech) call and promise to give me a time of arrival. The call from Mastech would come and direct me to call the 1-800 DTV line again with no other information. In the course of my 10+ calls to try to get service installed, I spent hours on hold, including 20 minutes while waiting to talk to a supervisor before being hung up on. I was also told multiple times that my account had the "highest priority tag" on it so that "my appointment would not be missed," which never proved true. In the end, I finally had to cancel my service after taking 4 separate days to get things installed. My reward for attempting to get DirecTV installed was cancellation fees in excess of $100. All around, this was the worst customer experience I've ever had. I loved DirecTV, especially the NFL programming, but nothing is worth this level of service. Buyer beware. read more

I don't know if the direct tv that I am dealing with is from Allen TX (I live in Prosper) but it is ABSOLUTELY A COMPLETE WASTE OF $150 a month!! This is by far the worst service I have ever had. I've had the service for two months and since day one, it has not worked, AT ALL!! EVERY channel pixelates, every channel freezes. I have not been able to watch TV for two consecutive days in two months. I've called time after time and the issue is only fixed temporarily for a few hours. As soon as I turn the box off it does the same thing. The techs on the phone are worthless and can never figure out the issue. I took off of work, a tech came to my house and said "I don't know why I'm here?" I told him the service isn't working and he says "someone else will have to come back another time" and LEFT. Mind you, I'm paying $150 a month for this junk. A very nice guy by the name of Joel has been out to my place on numerous occasions and it still doesn't work. The Internet is a whole other issue. I'm getting download speeds of 3 when I'm paying for their highest speeds - whatever that may be I have no idea because none of this crap works. I've been told that a manager will call me, he still hasn't called and I've only been waiting for his call for a month. $150????????????? Download speeds of 3??? I cannot rewind, I can't record. I only give this one star because of how the operators were trying to help. Yet, when it comes to being able to follow through on their words (That I hear again and again) that someone will call within the 1/2 hour - nothing happens and the words ring empty. I have been given appointments (2 so far) and in one case nobody was ever assigned our job it seems. I have waited and made special arrangements to be here - both times. For the 2nd appointment, I have been told 3 times someone will call/show up within the 1/2 hour NOBODY SHOWS UP! Most people that make appointments want to show up so they can keep their business running, but NOT AT&T. The unfortunate thing is that none of the other telecommunications companies are any better. I couldn't be more frustrated with a TV service. We have the direcTV equipment & the on demand service don't work properly. Shows that are supposed to be watched are "buffering" every 10-30 seconds. I've tried clearing the recordings & cannot believe that a major company like AT&T would put out such a poor product. read more

I had to call the police on an extremely rude installer today. As it turned out, thus guy, JOSE C, works as a contractor that was hired by UTILITY CONCIERGE OR EPMC. We were scheduled for install of service for 3 tvs. Time set was between 8 am and noon. He showed up at my house at 3 pn after calling my husband twice to tell him he was running late. First, it was change to 11:30 am to 1 pm. Then, it was changed to 2:30 pm, when he called me at 1:30 pm. I told him that i wanted to reschedule for another day as I had other things to do. He insisted that he would be there at 2:30. At 2:22 pm he texted me to say he was on his way, but did not show til 3 pm. Jose C. Showed up with an attitude. He showed me his badge for 2 seconds and then jerked it out of my hand. I wanted to write it down just in case he broke something. He told on the phone that he had not had any lunch. When i suggested that he eat lunch first before he came, he said that he was not allowed to eat before he was finished. I did not want a tired grumpy person doing work on my house. He was rude from the get-go. He was argumentative and obnoxious. When I adked him a question, he would say 'Mam I know what Im doing. I said ' Yes, you may know what you are doing but I need to know what you are doing because this is my house. He connected a box to each of the two tvs downstairs but then went outside - cane in with a shopping bag and ran upstairs and going from room to room. I told him; you need to let me know where you are going and what you ate doing, and not be running in my house. He did not explain why he was going through each room. He jerked the attic stairs down. I told him to stop as he almost hit the wall with the ladder. He started yelling at me. I said that ladder will hit the wall if you are not careful with it. I also showed him where the other attic door was. He shouts at me that he is 35 and he knows what hes doing. I said I dont care how old you are; this is my house and you need to show me respect while you are in it. He was yelling at me. I told him that he did not need to be going in all my rooms - and to let me know what he was looking for. He said he was trying to find out where the cable was, which is when i showed him the second attic door. He was not being clear, and was talking spanish to someone on his headset the entire time he was at my house. I showed him where an ethernet junction box was in a bedroom. Hes says you need to let me into your master bedroom and closet. I told him you dont need to go in those rooms. There is no cable there. He says 'You wont let me in there.' I told him that there were no cable snything in those rooms. I finally got tired if him yelling at me and being arrogant and obnoxious. I said ' Look Dude, you just need to leave now. Im sick of this.' He says - 'you wont let me finish.' I said 'Just leave the boxes and someone else can come and finish the install.' He kept arguing with me. I said: 'Get out now or Im calling the police!' He kept glaring at me, and I had to repeat myself." He started to leave then ran back upstairs - saying he left his bag upstairs. I should not have let him back up. What was he doing with a shopping bag in my house. I locked the door behind him. Then he stayed in his truck parked right behind my truck, blocking me in for about 20 mins. I called the police. The operator told me not to let him back in. I told her hr was being aggressive and yelling at me. Jose C left just before the officer got there. I told the officer what happened and he told me to let him know if the guy came back. I called both my husband and Direct Tv and told them what happened. She tried to tell me that he was probably trying to find the modem. Our internet is not hooked up yet, and he knew that, and we have no modem yet. This was not about a modem. Nothing was working before he left. I've worked for both Sprint and Time Warner. Im not an idiot. This was someone with a bad temper who had no customer service skills what-so-ever. I have bill in hand with my account number yet 5 cold transfers, 1 hour on chat can't find my account. OK, its better to install the new receiver during the weekday as weekend service is harder to get promptly. We got a new main receiver due to possible problem which was delivered overnight. That was good. Instructions to switch them out was straight forward. BE SURE TO MAKE A LIST/PHOTO OF CURRENT PROGRAMS BEFORE SWITCH. All the stored programs and your list of programs to record are stored on the receiver hard drive. When you install new one you won't have prior programs. The switch didn't work out so I had to call help desk. After over an hour trying to fix problem over the phone we gave up and setup a tech call for Mon PM. Tech showed up on time and fixed problem in a few minutes. All's well. The tech provided some very helpful advice for future DirecTV use. Final note. It is very easy to return the old receiver. Save the box the new comes in and put the old one in it and take just as is to nearest UPS/FedEx store. DirecTV has an account setup with them and they will take the box and give you a receipt to prove you returned the old box. Otherwise you get charged for the new receiver. read more

Bought a contract at Costco. multiple technical problems. currently software problems in the receiver. BIGGEST PROBLEM: they started charging me $21/mo four months ago for Equipment Protection without my authorization. Was just on the phone with India for 40 min. They say they will charge me a termination fee if I want to cancel the Protection Plan I did not buy. I asked for a supervisor. Kept putting me on hold. Supervisor is not available. Clearly waiting me out. Finally threatened to sue for fraud and hung up. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIRECTV. read more

The gentleman who gave a five star rating must be an employee of Directv. This is a horrible, disorganized, dishonest company. Believe all of the reviews you see where people cite not getting their refunds that are owed. The call center for customer service is overseas and the staff are not given the authority or access within the system to make things right for their customers. The satellite service is good. Very happy with that, but the customer service since AT&T took over is shameful. Worst experience I have ever had. I won't get into the details, but when you spend 8 hours on the phone over several calls, get different answers and apathetic service when you are trying to UPGRADE your service, it makes you want to quit and cut the cord. Pathetic, awful and disappointing how low they have gone. read more

Typical corporate runaround. It is not open 24 hours like it says. The customer support is not very good either. And, the services are quite high. Between their website, automated call system and live call center, none of them are very dependable when you need to make a change to your Direct TV service. read more

Wow! DirecTV what a scam! I was a customer since 1998 and left for a little while and the came back after the ATT merger. The customer service is none. Installed internet that isn't even fast enough to run the DVR but that is my fault for ordering it. Apparently I made the decision to order the product that is so slow it won't even allow the other products they installed to work so I had to cancel. They then told me that they would not charge me a cancellation fee due to all of the mistakes but once again that was a lie and talking to customer service is always a nice punch in the face. read more

After cancelling our service with direct TV after many years we CAN NOT get the return kit after 5 months of waiting. Now that the final bill and cost of equipment have been turned iver to collections still trying to resolve the problem after a call a month to them. If any of you out there has any concerns about signing up from DirectTV then this is a must read. First off they would not get any stars except you have to give one star to give a review! I wish I could give them a negative - 5 stars! DirectTV is by far one of the worst companies out there. It took them over 2 months to fully install my tv service because for some unexplained reason after my service was installed it was cancelled after two days! You call Customer service and just get even more frustrated because every time you call them you never get the same person and you have to explain the whole situation over again! Now I had to take off work for a second day for them to come back out and reinstall what I already had. And guess what? It was cancelled again after a few days! It is now my 3rd day off from work to get reinstalled and finally it's done EXCEPT now they can't get my wireless box to work and will need to come back out on another date! Very Frustrating . After countless phone calls and hours of being on hold I finally get another date to reinstall my wireless box which means another day off!. Finally after Two months of pure frustration it is all working! But wait it gets better. When I originally signed up thru Costco I was promised a $300 Costco gift card. Well after almost 3 months I haven't received it yet so I had to call them and they FORGOT to process the card AND on top of that they informed me that I would be only qualified for a $200 card and not the $300 card because when I finally got installed they said the $300 promotion was over! WTF! I get penalized because they cancelled my service twice and my new service date only qualifies for $200! Customer service will not listen or honor the original promotion (real jerks). Please do your homework and choose anybody else other then DirecTV because they all just lie to you and they are truly the worst! read more
