When I decided to write this review I actually looked for a negative star. I decided to switch to Direct TV to save money, lets just say you get what you pay for. I was offered a lower rate... now I know why. If the wind blows = no service, the sun shines = no service, heaven forbid it rain = no service for days. I originally signed up for direct tv in May 2016. Again I was offered a lower rate, but also a 200.00 Visa gift card. The Install - I was scheduled for an install date for May 2 between 8-12, and someone would call 30 minutes prior. No one called by 11:30, so I called them, and my date had been changed. I asked how can you change my date without informing me to ensure that date works for me? This happened 2 additional times before someone actually arrived to install, and then he did not complete the job because he did not have enough equipment for one of the TV's, but when I ordered I was asked how many tv were in the home. Needless to say the tech did not show up the next day as promised, so I had to call back and complain to get someone out to finish the job. Poor Customer Service! Then I had the issue with the volume going out. Initially I thought it was my tv was going out, but then I noticed that the volume would periodically go out on all 4 TV's, and I can change the channel to another station and then go back to the original channel and it works for about 20 minutes and then does the same thing. So, needless to say, I called Direct TV and reported that issue, and they said "We know about the issue and we will credit your account". Needless to say, no credit, nor is the problem fixed. Next was the issue with the tv constantly going out in the masterbedroom... it was a faulty cable THEY provided. When they resolved the problem, they agreed to give me a new cable for 16.95... I asked why are you going to charge me for your equipment? If I disconnect my service do I get to keep the cable? Their response was no because it's our equipment. I said exactly... so why should I pay for your equipment. Then they suggested to get their insurance. Really??? And finally, the Gift Card... I called several times to find out the status of receiving my 200.00 Visa Gift Card I was promised for becoming a new customer. One time I was told I will receive a post card in the mail, and when that comes to complete that and mail it back in. After not receiving the card, I called back and was told that they would escalate my concern and someone would contact me within 7 days. After 10 days and no response I called back... and again they would escalate my concern. Finally I said no, I want to speak to someone today about this, and after being on the phone for 2 hrs and 47 minutes, I finally got to a rep who told me all I have to do is go on line to redeem, and wouldn't you know it, when I went online to redeem the message I received was I didn't redeem soon enough. Although, the reps I spoke to could see the notes where I called in several times, that wasn't good enough for them to allow me to get the gift card, they assumed I didn't want it. Who just says no, you keep the 200.00 I don't want it? Please! Do all of your fact checking before signing up with Direct TV! The headache and the hassel to save a few extra dollars isn't worth the hassle. Counting down the days until this contract expires!!! And by the way... Did I mention poor customer service??? read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I have been a wireless customer with AT&T for many years with no issues. However, DO NOT COMBINE BILLING W/ DIRECT TV. When I got married, I combined his Direct TV service with my wireless service. About a year ago, I requested this to be de-combined. It has still not been taken care of! I am still getting billed IN MY NAME, for his Direct TV service at his address!!! He is paying Direct TV directly for his service, but AT&T is still charging me for the same service on the "Combined" acccount. Therefore, my name and my credit are being held responsible for a bill/service I don't have. THIS IS FRAUD! AT&T is charging me for a servie I don't have, equipment I don't have, etc... Meanwhile, DIRECT TV is billing the proper person for the same services. I HAVE NOT RECIEVED ANY RESOLUTION FROM AT&T. They blame Direct TV, and Direct TV blames AT&T. Aren't they combined now? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? Neither of them will take any responsibility and neither will fix it! THE WORST THING AT&T EVER DID WAS JOIN WITH DIRECT TV. THEY CAN'T GET THIER BUISNESS STRAIGHT, SO THE CUSTOMER IS ONE WHO SUFFERS! CONSUMER BEWARE!!! DO NOT COMBINE BILLING!!! I am going to have to file consumer fraud against both companies! read more

DIRECTV / ATT: Installed in Dec/'17, have been receiving constant calls from their Direct TV/ATT 800 531-5000 (shown as 800 SERVICE) number from solicitors out of country to upgrade or add craps. I requested these calls stop, but they didn't instead it got worse. I asked the caller again to please remove my name from the list, instead he started saying "I want to fk you, and other perverted comments. I started chewing his ass off and hung up the phone. I called ATT/Direct TV back and after numerous transfers to speak to their investigation department i was told none was available. I was transferred to an "acct supervisor" I spoke to a male who said he would send my complaint over, but he couldn't do much because those type of callers were made from an out of country location. To date I consistently have those calls incoming despite me listing them on Nomorobo. I noticed once we installed this service we have been bombarded by numerous solicitation calls that we never had before. This company has no consideration for customer service or dealing with the representatives who act on their behalf. I can't wait until this contract ends and I can dump them, and hopefully this will help ease the harassment calls. Save your sanity, don't use them this company is a complete waste. read more

Folks, don't fall for AT&T's latest scam: Direct TV Now. Don't partake in this, you will regret it. Where do I begin? My Uverse bill went up to over $200.00 a month. This is AT&T's "subtle" way of smoking you into going to Direct TV Now. My husband and I went to the AT&T store and this woman, Holly, recommended Direct TV Now. Well, Holly didn't know what she was doing. She just sent out any old random tech person to do a less than half baked job installing Direct TV Now. The dude cut our internet. AT&T did not rectify this situation until 4 days later!! Guess what, they screwed up again. Then yet another tech person comes out. At this point this system is sub par. I can't watch a pre-recorded program that is more than 30 minutes long (if I attempt this, the system goes haywire), the system goes out at random times, and it is really slow. I'm now told that I have to upgrade my internet service, AGAIN, and another tech has to come out. You have been warned. Go to Spectrum or anything other than this. read more

I got Direct TV for a lower price then a cable company in my area. I wish I had not gotten them. Their customer service is so rude and talks over you before you can finish explaining what happened. I had received calls for a special for 2 years 89.00 for cable and internet with Direct TV (20.00 lower then what I am paying now and they would cancel my contract now and this would be month to month) but I had to pay 4 months ahead before getting this offer. I felt like this was a scam so this time I got the name ID # and phone number for them so Direct TV can look into it. The man told me to just change my number since I tried to explain I have received these calls before. He wouldn't take any information down and just acted like I should know better (but I did I was just hoping they could help others not to get ripped off also). When my contract is over this time I will never get them again. read more

Directv has horrible customer service. First we didn't know you changed your pay per view and when we called they said we had to run a phone line to the box. That would cost us $200 to do so we were going to switch. Then an agent of Directv (one month later) at a Walmart told us all we had to do was get the Genie boxes. Ordered the Genie boxes. Technician was late so I called. They said the technician would call within 5 minutes. Never got a call. Technician was 2 hours late to show up. They backed into our driveway, sat there 20 minutes and left. So again, I'm on the phone with Directv. Now they are saying they will contact the local office to contact the technician and let us know something within the hour. Seriously??? We took time off from work to sit here when we were told they would arrive 3 hours ago! Nothing but problems from this company. Review should have been half a star if that. read more

Over a year ago I listened to a sales presentation by DirectTV while shopping at Sams Club. Since I have had DirectTV in the past, I specifically asked about service interruption during rain. I was assured that the new equipment was significantly better than in the past and that the satellite signal interruption would be lost "only during rare occurrences". However this has not been the case. Over the past year, I have experienced numerous satellite signal interruptions and am very dissatisfied with the lack of quality with DirectTV. When my contract ends I will not be renewing it. Also, I will NOT RECCOMEND DirectTv to anyone. read more

Customer service is a joke.....I call about a problem, they run me through the same old questions. I am then told to call a different number and when I do, I get another person who ask me the same questions. Finally someone sets me up with a service call, I take off work in order to be there, and guess what.....they are a no show! Now I am out a days pay and all they say is sorry. How is that customer service? Cable in my area is more expensive.....but they have to be better than direct TV. read more

Trying to disconnect after the two year commitment was horrible, terrible, and sadly lacking in customer service of any type whatsoever. I tried to get to customer retention and was told I can't bundle my AT&T internet with Direct TV even though AT&T bought out Direct TV. To make a long story short, they offered to drop the bill by $l0, even though they continued to raise rates through the 2 1/2 years, we had to call back ll times, and finally found out that ALL the billing dept phone lines were in Pakistan (another reason that some companies out source jobs to other countries), and they didn't have a manager/supervisor to speak to, the only Americans were in tech and couldn't help us with billing. You can't cancel on line and they continuously kept us on hold, transferred us to the wrong dept, and refused to cancel our service. One even signed us up against our will or permission for another two year commitment. They haven't heard the end of this./ read more

I am ready to part ways with this company. Now I remember why I left them the first time. Bait and switch tactics. I signed up with them and they offered a bundled package with AT&T that I would get internet for 19.95. Instead of transferring me to AT&T, Directv processed my order. So when I get my AT&T bill, it's for 29.95 and not 19.95. Then Directv tells me they have no control over it and I have to contact AT&T. He offers a $5 credit on my directv bill but it's only if I buy a movie package. (NOT!) To make matters worse, I called twice to make sure the Sunday ticket package was cancelled prior to it being billed and Voila, Sunday ticket shows up on my bill. Horrible customer service! I'm hoping another vendor will offer a rebate so I can cancel the 2 year agreement. And after a year into the contract, certain rebates and credits will no longer be effective and you will have to pay a higher rate. They are corporate crooks and getting away with it! read more

Do NOT sign up for DirecTV!!!!! They are unethical and are all about money!! They lure new customers in with low rates then don't tell you that they WILL raise your bill whenever they please! My bill has gone up about $20 in the last 6 months and there is nothing I can do other then wait for my contract to end or pay $200 to cancel my contract. Everytime I call DirecTV they repeat themselves, sell other products, and tell you to refer other people to DirecTV. They do not care about their customers as they read from scripts and are unwilling to help keep their customers. Yes their TV programming is great, but the service goes out in the rain, you are stuck on the phone with them for an average of an hour no matter what you are calling about, they make their customers do all the work when it comes to troubleshooting, and they are liars and they overcharge! PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME WITH DIRECTV!!!!!! read more

Directv has the worst service ever! We get only about half of the channels we pay for every month. We have tried all the home-based diagnostics we can do ourselves to no avail. So, we made an appointment, the earliest of which was a couple of weeks out. The appointment was set for Monday, June 22. As soon as we made the appointment, we immediately started getting daily robo calls requiring us to re-confirm our appointment. We did so multiple days in a row. Then, we went out of town for the weekend, returning Sunday afternoon. On Monday, Directv did not show up. When we called, they said they had cancelled the appointment because we had failed one time to confirm the appointment. We had to get a new appointment....again a couple of weeks out. That was yesterday. Today, the robo calls started again! This is ridiculous. There was no consideration of giving us an earlier appointment. Also, no consideration of any fee adjustment. Also, no consideration of NOT subjecting us to the same exact scenario we have already experienced. This is sure a way to not ever have to make a service call. read more

Be very careful when selecting a subscription TV company. We purchased Direct TV's insurance for electronics to be repaired or replaced. It has taken a month for us to solve our Panasonic TV repair. They subcontract out their work to inadequate smaller companies. We were told our TV would be delivered first thing on Friday and I took off of work to wait for them and they never arrived. I called them several times to find out what was happening and found out that they would reschedule the delivery for Saturday morning and they still didn't call nor did they show up. Meanwhile, they are in possession of my TV. My husband called to find out what time they were coming and they hung up on him. Direct TV is not only expensive they are inept. They have become too big and their service suffers for it. Look at the internet of all the people who have complained and you will see you will be better off doing business elsewhere. read more

I have never had a worse experience with a cable provider in my LIFE. We decided to sign up based on their "package" deal for cable/internet for $65 per month. When I called to sign up, the sales person quoted me the same price and then once I was signed up then told me I had to go and call their "partner" for internet. Well upon calling, we were then told the price they quoted was for their base internet plan and that was only a promotion they offered for three months. By that point we were already locked into a plan with Directv and felt like we had pretty much no other choice but to use the internet provider. Needless to say, the service for both companies was absolutely terrible. Our Dish went out after only four days with the service. We called and spoke with a technician who literally would not stop trying to sell us a "protection plan" on our equipment. I told him well over five times I was NOT interested in the plan and that my equipment was brand new so there should be no need for any protection as any issues we were currently having had to be on their end. We literally had the service four days. Well, after another week of the dish continuously going out, my husband called to cancel both the cable and internet service as we couldn't do ANYTHING. No browsing, no streaming, no on demand even. Nothing worked right. When he called he found out that the technician who kept trying to sell us the protection plan had illegally added it to our account after I specifically told him we did NOT want it. After battling with customer service for about two hours, they finally agreed to wave the disconnect fee since they knew they got caught illegally adding things to our account and charging us for them. They had already charged us like three times (I'm still not sure why) so they told us they were going to process a refund of $137.66 and send it out to us on a visa card as well as the boxes to return the equipment. It was supposed to take ten days max to process. This was on December 7th. On December 9th I received an email from Directv saying they had shipped out my boxes and gave me a FedEx tracking number (which of course did not link to anything). Well three weeks go by and we have not received the visa card or boxes, so my husband called them two days ago and they say they had a policy change on December 11th that they no longer send boxes out and we have to just drop it off at a FedEx or UPS with our account number and they'll send it back. Also included with this information was that our refund could not be processed until they received the boxes. Okay, fine. But why in the world did someone specifically tell us the refund was already being processed if it wasn't? My husband asked them that same question and they had no answer other than their policy changed and basically our account fell through the cracks. They also told us our refund was now somehow only for $81 and they had no record of the $137.66. How? Mistakes happen and I get that. But own up to your mistakes and correct the issue. He spoke to three people that day, all of whom hung up on him. He is in retail himself and knows how to convey his point without being rude. He was not yelling or hostile in any way. He simply told every person he spoke with that they needed to get this issue resolved with him that day and he had all day if that's what it took. Each time he said this and asked to be escalated, they told him that was not possible and hung up on him. One person actually flat out answered the phone and said "we are experiencing company wide maintenance and have no access to account information. Please call back in 2-3 hours" and then just hung up the phone. He called back only to talk to someone else who low and behold could pull up our account and had no record of a company wide maintenance issue. THEN to top it all off, and the reason I'm officially done with this company and posting a review (which I have never done in my life), is because I woke up this morning to an email from them saying we owe them $57.21. HOW??? We spoke with someone two days ago that said they owed us back $81 and now we somehow owe them? I have never in my life dealt with such an incompetent company with such unprofessional staff in my life. Not only did they illegally add things on to our account, but they then continued to hang up on us each time we called to correct the issue. Their policy seems to be if you are unsatisfied then we will just hang up on you instead of handling the situation and making things right. I've never been so exhausted by dealing with a company than I am with Directv. Do NOT waste your time. The price is not worth it. We switched to Spectrum and have had a great experience with them. Save yourself the headache and stay away from Directv. read more

Direct tv sucks complete ass balls. There are better options. The apartment complex i moved into only allowed two providers so i went with the direct cock sucker and have regretted it since. it freezes on me all the time even on perfect weather days. I once counted 7 times within a 4 hr period. Customer service is nice over the phone but they dont help you. Beware if ure getting it through an apartment complex and make sure they dont have restrictions, apparently i cant get service calls on a saturday and i am unwilling to takeoff of work to fix my cable. I actually took off 1/2 a day once to get my crap fixed and i was very thorough with setting the appointment that i wanted to be the last person on their after noon window(noon -5) and the lady assured me that she noted that and it wouldnt be a problem. So needless to say the jerkoff technician called me at 10:30 am saying he,d be there in 20 minutes... F them! Now im stuck in their contract for another 8 months and i get to enjoy the blue" your reciever is starting up" screen everytime something i really want to see come on. F these guys read more

Never in a million years would I recommend anyone to use Direct TV. Absolutely horrible customer service. I called to ask why I had an outstanding balance on my account and they would not let me speak to anyone UNTIL I paid the account. I had to pretend I was ordering new service to speak with an actual person! I cancelled my service early (I thought it was a 12 month contract, not 2 year- read fine print very, very carefully) and hit with outrageous fines. They had sent me this "recovery" kit to send back my receiver, and the carrier loses it in the mail. Even though on the instruction sheet they say to deliver it to the USPS, they REALLY transfer it to FedEx as their carrier. "FedEx" loses my package and according to Direct TV's supervising managers I am still responsible for FedEX losing the receiver and coughing up $200 to replace it. They even tried to SELL ME more products and services when I made it clear I had left them VERY upset at the way they treat customers! Unreal. Buyer Beware. read more

I have had DirecTV in the past and they were great with equipment installation and price. I scheduled to have my satellite and equipment installed this weekend from 8-12PM. My husband and I waited patiently for 4 hours, no tech. We finally called at 12:15 to see where the tech was. Apparently, the tech just wrote on our order that there was "no line of sight" on our house. I find that funny because the last person to live at the residence had DirecTV and their dish was still on the roof, facing south. Not to mention other neighbors have DirecTV that live right next door and two houses down. The funny thing is, the tech wrote that there was "no line of sight" but failed to KNOCK ON MY DOOR or leave a note, didn't call, nothing. I called customer service, a lady stated "it sounds like the tech did not want to come out." My thoughts exactly. She transferred me. Then the next agent transferred me (without telling me they were transferring me), then another transfer. Finally I get to someone who pulls up a lovely google map on his computer and asks questions about the apartment complex. Then states "you have no line of sight." I got irate and hung up on him. How can someone tell me that they cannot install their equipment if no one came to the residence? I feel like they are being super lazy and this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I guess since they allowed installations on Valentine's Day, their installer didn't want to come out since he may have been holed up somewhere with someone. Another customer service agent stated someone would call us in 24 hours to reschedule the appointment, that they could not send out anyone else that day. 24 hours later, still no call. First off, I don't work there and the original tech not showing up is not the customer's problem. Second, I would expect someone to be understanding in their company, not just say, "hold please, let me get you to sales" and be transferred 5 different times. Not one person said "I apologize" or "let me try to help you with this." I have worked in customer service for years and know that people would have been fired for this type of behavior. Customers make your company money. I will tell anyone and everyone NOT to use DirecTV. They have all my credit card information on file, how do I know they will not charge me for NO SERVICE. I find this appalling and will never use DirecTV. My sister has them and was expecting a service credit for referring. I will have her switch services as well because this is the most ignorant customer service I have seen from a bug company in a long time. Very dissatisfied. read more

I have never seen a company so irresponsible and uncaring. We hired Direct to install our cable/Internet service on Tuesday the 10th. The young men that responded were very nice but were completely out of the loop. We were told that the companies had merged and we're experiencing some difficulties. We ran into an issue when it tree line interfered with the satellite box. I immediately hired a company and it was cut down in less than a couple hours. In the meantime the young man sat out in my front yard and proceeded to close the order because they could never get a hold of a supervisor to see how to handle the matter. I was told it would not be a problem to get someone back out that day or the next. However, when I called back they told me that no one could come out to the 16th. I held on the phone for over three hours. I spoke to two different supervisors. All of which tell me I did not have an existing order and wanted to rerun my credit. After I explain the situation and they assured me that they would make it right. However, that never happened because they didn't followed up with me. I have now taken off two days of work and they are still telling me I cannot have anyone out here. I have never seen a company irresponsible and unwilling to make make their mistakes right. I will never do business with them again. read more

I would give a negative if it were possible. I left Direct TV because the over-charged me, without notice. I went to Charter and they kept sending me things wanting me to come back. I finally called to see what they were willing to offer. The woman I spoke with told me that all previous bills will be waived (extra payment and early cancellation fee) since I was coming back in less than a month. She also told me that $50 will be credited to my account for my troubles. Since then, they took $89 out of my account and another $137. I have had to call twice. Every time I called I had to speak to various rude people who refused to get me to a supervisor and when they finally did, the supervisor was rude as well. I even switched all of my other services to At&t before all of this was done. I called the day they took the $137 out (without permission, as I am not on Autopay) and spoke with 4 people before finally getting to a supervisor. He was very rude and told me the best he could do was to get the refund sent in 7 to 10 business days. I told him that was my grocery and daughter's childcare money for the week, as I only get paid twice a month. He was unconcerned when I said I may be cancelling all of my services again and simply said "okay." This was unacceptable. I have never filed a complaint in my life but Direct TV/At&t went too far this time. read more

Terrrible!! Deceptive marketing techniques! Beware of the attempt to sell you "bundling" for your tv and internet especially with Directv. They tell you that a certain provider will be your internet provider when they know that they have no idea if they service your area. They could not provide me internet access and when I attempted to stop the Directv within the first week they wanted to bully me and extort $460 from me to cancel. Also, what a lot of people dont realize is that Directv has become so watered down that you may be actually purchasing Directv from a third party, which this was the case for me. I attempted to contact my Rep Michelle who works for BKZ avoided my calls and if I did get her she would proceed to tell me how busy she was and that she was working on it. If this was the case, then she would have known I had no options other than Fios in my area which would have saved me no money and cost more. I then became so very frustrated that this went on for a week that I called her office and the owner Brian (who never returned my call per request) and thats when I was able to actually speak to Michelle, after scolding me for calling her office and boss. At this time her solution for internet was satellite which she stated was provided by Directv which by the way is not true. Now this was just my interaction with BKZ, I still had a war on my hands with Directv! Please keep in mind this has all happened within only 5 days of attempting to get service. To keep this somewhat simple, Directv including their supervisors were of NO assitance and just continued to repeat to me that I will have to pay them $460 to cancel. Also, which was interesting was that every time I called Directv they tried to argue with me about $11 from 2009. This was the firts extortion I encountered with Directv when I had to pay them $200 to cancel service because I got divorced and moved into an apartment that didnt face southbound and they couldn't provide service to me. I vowed NEVER to try Directv again and very stupidly did not listen to my gut on this one. Be very careful with Directv because I never authorized them to actually turn off the service because we were still franticly trying to figure out a solution. I tried so hard that I actually gave Michelle from BKZ authorization on my account, 2 days later my service was cancelled! This part is kinda humorous, so thankfully I had the forsight to cancel my debit card because God knows everybody wants access to your bank account.....Directv had already sent me a bill ALL within one week! Oh and Directv and Michelle both called saying they couldnt process my card that they attempted to bill, really?? Again, PLEASE keep in mind this is ALL within 6 days 2 days were Saturday and Sunday!! Directv should be ashamed of themselves. These bullying and extortion practices really should be illegal because they try to ruin your credit and give people tremendous headaches over cable. Its really kind of insane if you really think about it. Please just know who provides what services to your area, most importantly who doesn't provide services. read more
