Hot days call for ice cream! We were glad to find this cute ice cream parlor. There's a window on one side of the building where you can order, as well as going inside. There is some seating available both inside and outside, and there were a lot of fun touches, including a photo friendly ice cream backdrop. The staff were friendly and efficient and did a great job keeping the long line moving. We enjoyed a vanilla milkshake, twist cookiewich, and a kids Cougar Sundae (ordered with mint chip ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry). There was a huge selection of ice cream flavors and ways to enjoy it. A small parking lot is available. It is cash only, so be prepared. read more

Locally owned and beloved ice cream shop. When this place opened back up for the summer, we were so excited. The staff is delightful and friendly. We can walk up with our dogs to the outside window and still feel welcomed. The flavor choices are expansive, but if you enjoy a simple twist on a cone, they have that too. I would not try this place again! They skanked us on ice cream. There was barely any ice cream in my cone and the center of my husbands ice cream cone dish was hollow. They forgot my rainbow sprinkles and the cashier played it off as "oh yes you did get sprinkles, I'm sorry about that". No you just can't listen... and how is it that a kiddie size and a large size are about the same size in a dish... my "large" size was so dang small... My absolute favorite ice cream shop in my hometown. It's a classic and I've been visiting for years, ever since our summer rec bus trips back in the late 90s. They carry Perry's ice cream products and have 20+ flavors, but the mocha chip is my all time favorite (on a sugar cone). Other standbys are the soft serve twist with rainbow sprinkles and panda paws. They have a side window they open up for busier nights, which is convenient for avoiding indoor crowding. My favorite thing about Dipper Dan's is the way it smells - cold sugar and homemade waffle cones. Nostalgia at its finest. read more

I am not sure if this Dipper Dan is a chain or not but back in 1965 to 1968 when I joined the Navy, there was a Dipper Dan Ice Cream Store in Southeast Denver where I grew up. It was the best Ice Cream I have ever tasted. I absolutely loved the Bubblegum and Cinnamon ice creams. The only Ice Cream shop that I have found throughout the contiguous 48 states is McConnells of Santa Barbara. I would sure be happy to find another one. This is such a cute little shop. I'm not from the area, but everytime I visit the inlaws during the summer we make this a special stop. The ice cream is as good as any, just your average "brought in" ice cream shop. But the local charm, the lovely silver haired ladies, and young kids behind the counter make it a fun shop for everyone to visit. And there's nothing better than supporting a local business. One of my favorite places to get ice cream in the summer. There's not a lot for seating either inside or out unfortunately. Still, the ice cream is good. Mostly Perry flavors. I typically get a banana and chocolate shake and I love that they use a real banana. Most places use a banana syrup or extract. Wide range of flavors and options offered as well as frozen items in freezer (ice cream sandwiches to go etc.) staff dressed in vintage attire usually young girls but always friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating available as well as an outdoor service window for quick pickup or avoidance of indoor line. Sometimes a wait but never too unbearable.
