I went in to Dino's Donuts 5/4/2020, it looked clean, the people were pleasant, employees were wearing gloves not masks, they have the plastic shields on the counter top separating the employees from the public. The one thing that really bothered me was someone in the back (not behind the counter) was sneezing and it didn't sound muffled. Not as good as all of the hype. Went there this morning for my kids and they are voracious doughnut eaters, but they weren't interested in a second doughnut, even though I bought a dozen. :-( They left one door with the CLOSED sign up, so I was confused when I first got there at 5:30am. I have tried them twice. The people are really nice and I got great service. I ordered a sandwich and it was delicious. My issue is the donuts. I am sorry but they ALL taste like 2 day old donuts. Not fluffy. Hard, chewy and dense. It was the same both times. I am really disappointed because I really like to trade with a local business and they have such a good reputation but I don't want apple fritters. I want donuts. I wish they weren't all hard and dense. I will go back for the sandwich but I doubt I will try another donut. read more

I have been sucked into this place! I go a few times a month to get donut treats for my work crew. They make the best Glazed Old Fashioned I have had since living in California, and going out to the HELMS Bakery truck in our neighborhood! My coworker and I picked up two dozen donuts for a client meeting this morning and overall, were happy. Can't ask for much at a place like Dino's--they have standard, basic donuts. Nothing fancy. No crullers (sad), but the rest, they got. Not Portland's Voodoo. Not Dunk'n Donuts. Not Krispy Kreme (in a good way). Just your average donut shop. If you want a cheap, classic donut, go here. I have been to donut shops all over the country. All over the world, in fact. It's kinda my thing. Donuts are my kryptonite. Dino's may not be the absolute best place I've ever donut dined, but its in the top 5 (of probably 50 or more). Thats saying something. They have a great selection of old fashioned donuts, including buttermilk bars (if you haven't tried these, do so now). Their PB&J is great, as is their chocolate devils food. Great quality donuts, and better than average coffee, combined with amazing service makes this a top place. Skip the chains and go here! read more

My husband and I stopped in here quickly on our way out of town because we heard it's where the locals go (we are from out of town). The service was kind of slow for a Friday morning and some customers were very impatient with the service. We got 4 donuts and two coffees for a very reasonable cost. They have a sign that says that they prefer cash but they took our credit card payment. I came a bit late in a weekday, around 2:30 so they didn't have a huge selection. They had some standard donuts still available. I got a Regular glazed and an Oreo crumble fancy donut. Both were really good! I'd have to come back earlier when they have a full selection of fancy donuts. Other than the topping, I didn't think they were super fancy or extra special, but I am spoiled coming from Southern California. It was good and I'd probably comeback if if was buying a box for the office since they have a more fun selection, supposedly in the morning. Anyways, since they are 24 hours I can't expect them to have everything available at the end of the day. I might try their lunch one day, since they keep popping up in my Facebook feed :/ I came back on national donut day at 11 am and continue to be disappointed with their selection. They had 5 choices of cake donuts. I still bought some since I was already there. I ate the chocolate one right away and it was SO DAMN GOOD!! I think their shelves are heated because it was warm and almost literally melted in my mouth!! So I think they do have super awesome donuts, but it's not worth it if you come after 9, maybe, since their selection sucks as you get later into the day. I used to be a fan of Golden Doughnuts, but was recently introduced to this shop a couple years ago and changed my mind since then. Best doughnuts in town, IMO. Good luck trying to choose from their vast assortment of deep fried goodness. Picking up a box instead of a couple usually works in your favor; just make sure to share. I usually go for a couple of the glazed rings (try the fruit flavored ones), and the PB iced & Jelly filled doughnut is a must try, if you are a fan of the sandwich. I was lucky enough to try one these bad boys freshly filled and iced, and DAM...I was hooked. Make sure to show up early, or risk missing out on the more popular selections. read more

Nice little family run joint. Everyone was wearing bunny ears for Easter, even the dude ringing me up though he didn't look particularly pleased with it. He gave me a plastic egg that contained a couple pieces of candy. I also got a juice from the fridge. Total came to about 4 bucks. It was a nice catch up time with the family. read more

If you aren't too concern about the coronavirus, then this is the place to go. The cashier wasn't wearing her gloves and mask on. To be fair, there's a plexiglass in front of the cashier. But handling cash and donuts at the same time is not only gross but extremely irresponsible. I'll just stick with Krispy Cream. read more

DINO'S!!! If you don't love Dino's, you are donut-ignorant. (That's a bad thing.) Donuts are sortof taken for granted, but if you really love them, as my husband does, you learn to find the best of the best and appreciate them for the extra effort put into each little morsel of delight. This is not the number one donut place we have found (see my review for Granny's Gourmet Donuts in Bozeman, MT) but - it is in the top three. It's difficult for me to love a donut more than the buttermilk bar. It's a massive tragedy that buttermilk bars are seldom seen outside of California. Dino's makes some amazingly delicious and mouthwatering buttermilk bars. Right there - they win. But in addition to that, they have a really lovely selection of other types of donuts to choose from. Their peanut butter and jelly donut is phenomenal, but the peanut butter devils food is even better! They have a donut with fruity pebbles, a really good coconut cake donut - actually, all the cake donuts are fabulous. Too many donut places focus on raised donuts - nothing wrong with that, raised are delish. But cake are far superior donuts and not everyone makes them correctly. Dino's makes them nice and moist, dripping with whatever amazing topping goes on them, making my mouth water just thinking about it! They also make pretty darn good coffee and the staff couldn't be nicer. If only they were open 24 hours a day... Sigh... read more

As far as donuts in Anchorage, these are the BEST in town. Not the best I've had, but the BEST in Anchorage. If you want good, fresh donuts be SURE to get yours early in the morning. Otherwise you get yesterdays donuts and they aren't that good. They DELIVER! No other donut place in town does that. They're not overly sugary... I HATE overly sugary donuts. I don't get what all the good reviews are about. Went in at 5 in the morning. Place was cute, and smelled awesome, so I was pretty excited. There were a few groups of teenagers hanging out, but that's to be expected at weird hours during the summer. We ordered a dozen donuts for the family. They were a little spendier than we expected (13.25 when I normally pay 10 bucks at most) but they looked good, so I wasn't bothered. Then we actually got the donuts home. Out of the dozen, two got eaten, a few more got picked at, and the others just got thrown out. They weren't good. They weren't fresh (I have no idea how that's possible because it was FIVE AM but they weren't) and even if they had been fresh, I doubt they would have been much better. They just weren't good. You're better off going to Carrs for your morning donuts. They cost 6 dollars, and they're actually edible. read more

Great little hole-in-the-wall donut place located behind a few buildings on 81st St. As soon as I walked inside, I was welcomed by the decadent aroma of fresh donuts, and their various toppings. Their toppings range from Blueberry frosting, Raspberry, Lemon, Strawberry... and just about every berry you can think of, and their donuts are always fresh. They also brew coffee/java as well, but when you go to a Donut shoppe, I'm sure you're only worried about the donuts, as I was. So, if you're ever on this side of town, and don't want to stop by Fred Meyer/Safeway and eat some of their 8-12 hour old donuts, may I recommend this little gem, nestled behind and beside a Chinese Buffet? I thought their mini apple fritters were perfectly cooked and a great size. Best apple fritter I've had in a long time. However, the apple filled powered donut I got had less than a teaspoon of apple filling it in. I'm not exaggerating in the least. You can get your calories and carbs from any store or restaurant in town but at Dino's you can fall into a blissful doughnut coma. Man what a way to go! The family favorites are the sprinkled cake, apple fritters and cinnamon rolls. The new location is bit hard to find but when you see folks entering their car with drool running down their chin and shear ecstasy on their face you have either found a methadone clinic or Dino's Doughnuts. The best glazed old fashioned donuts. Period. Very friendly service. She made me feel welcome, and exhibited low pressure sales "technique". Personally, I hate the hard sell. I love suggestions, recommendations and insightful comments. "I love this one with coffee...Do you like blueberries? Then I might suggest these... Good donuts. I went in one Saturday afternoon, close to closing time and working was a young girl in her teens I would say and the owner. The girls friend had come in while she was cleaning up getting ready to close so the friend bought something and was sitting in a booth just waiting. The owner was rude to the employee saying her friend shouldn't be here, she's a distraction. She was a paying customer. Makes me not want to return as a customer. The Donuts are good, but the owner was rude to some kids we were with. The children (3-5 year olds) were looking at the fish and had picked up some American flags that were on the tables as decoration. The owner took them from the kids and said that "this is my house, and you shouldn't steal from my house." When one of the mothers apologized, the owner did not even respond. Not necessary at all. Our friends are long time Dino's customers, but may not be going back any time soon. read more

I've been frequenting Dino's since they were at their previous location; several years now. Great donuts and good, consistent quality. I wish they'd consider selling a few more varieties, such as cruellers or spud-nuts, but no complaints on what they have. This spot is a family favorite. The location is pretty close to our house, so it's not much trouble to get there. The shop is off the main roads, so keep an eye out for Oriental Express. Turn into their parking lot and keep going.... you'll see it. They have a great variety of choices for donuts and drinks. Our whole family prefers their glaze over Golden Donuts. I'm not a huge donut fan, but I'll eat these... especially the cake donuts. The kids prefer the dino bones. Great place! read more

Placed an order online. Made the honest mistake of entering my billing address in the section where the delivery address went. Got an angry call not only from the driver but from the owner as well. After getting hung up on by the owner I called and cancelled my order with the driver. I am shocked as i usually have no issues, then again I only interact with the online ordering system.
