When this place first opened up in late 2019/early 2020, it was the HYPE. A Ding Tea in Metro Detroit? A decent/well-known boba shop in Michigan? No way! Sadly, this area is saturated with boba shops now (always at least half a decade late with food/drink trends), but I still find myself returning to Ding Tea for boba/dessert after dinner in Novi. The people working this past Wednesday evening were pleasant and nice. The interior is clean, and my friends and I stayed for about an hour to catch up and enjoy our drinks. I got the OOLONG MILK TEA (4.55 for a medium iced drink) with GOLDEN BOBA (+0.55) with 30% sugar and 30% ice. It was on the sweeter side, but I was worried 0% sugar wouldn't be good, lol. The pearls were a bit on the harder side this time, but it is sweetened (either with brown sugar or honey). Overall, drinks are fine. They open reasonably late (9 PM in Novi is considered late, I guess) so it's a good place to go in the area. read more

No of these changes were communicated to me as a customer in advance, and their attitude was basically "not much we can do" without any sincere apologies. My sister was picking up food around the area and to make things more convenient I wanted to do a call ahead order so she could just pick up and go. So my sister said it's fine,she will just order in person. When she did order in person, the person at the tea house made the order incorrectly. My sister got the size wrong, toppings weren't added even though that's what was asked. Then when I called ahead about her mistake, she dismissed me. Every time I come here it's a completely horrible experience. Last summer we waited 45 min. in line only to be told that both things we were interested in were unavailable. As if taping a note over the menu wasn't an option?! Then this year I thought to give it a try again on May 14. When I walked in and saw tired old Christmas trees & decorations I should have walked out. But, I had a hard day & wanted to treat myself. Finally after waiting what seemed forever, I got to order. Twice the young man behind the counter (who was working by himself) put in a phone call to someone asking how to make it. I paid and was told to sit and wait. The furniture was peeling and falling apart. It was very strange how my order never came. Then I started seeing new people come in and going with their drinks. Finally I went up to the counter and there was now the guy and a woman working. I caught her attention and said, "I have been waiting on my drink for 45 minutes! I don't have any more time to wait." She responded, "oh my god you never got your drink?" So, the guy behind the counter shrugged his shoulders at me and said, "I'm so sorry, today is my first day. I'm going to give you the next size up and not charge you." Meanwhile, it wasn't like they inadvertently gave my drink to another customer, as I said, they just never made it. So the woman made my drink right then & there and handed it to me. I'm going to stick with buying premade bottles & cans of bubble tea from the Asia marts and Costco. I will never return to Ding Tea Novi if it's the last bubble tea place existing on a scorched earth! I would give it no stars if that was possible. read more

We do enjoy coming here to pick up a beverage and place a dessert. They are conveniently located with lots of parking in a shopping plaza with other restaurants. The service is good. The workers want to help out pretty quickly, but we ordered a few items in our group and they didn't get the drinks right - again. I've always known about the Ding Tea in Madison Heights, and I've recently visited this location in Novi. Upon entering you'll definitely notice how stylish the inside looks with plenty of Instagram worthy moments to capture. It seems like it's always busy, so I'd like to believe people really enjoy their drinks and keep coming back! I ordered the Aloe Vera Kiwi juice, and the Mango slush with coconut jelly. Both drinks tasted really good, but I might have overdid it with the sweetness because boy were they sweet. That falls on me since they literally ask you what level of sugar you'd like like most bubble tea shops. The portions they offer are very large as well. They have quiet a large menu so they're tons of options to choose from. There are seats inside, but for the time being I don't believe you can sit down inside due to the pandemic and all. I was in the neighborhood when I noticed this tea shop, sitting on the corner of the mall. Inside, a line of guests was making decisions on tea flavors and toppings. I am reminded of Starbuck's where there is an abundance of choices and combinations. However, I have very simple tastes, preferring milk tea and bubbles without any other add-ins. The process is simple, select from one of the many flavors and sizes, amount of sugar and ice, and toppings (jelly, creams, and pudding). Okay, maybe not that simple. Should have realized the signature boba milk tea was not the passion fruit I had ordered at all. It's more expensive than the passionfruit slush. I ended up with my originally requested passionfruit slush, which is worth the calories and tasty too. The staff are all nice and cool about fixing the order. One member was exceptionally friendly. He apologized to us several times for the mistake in order. Oddly enough, he wasn't the one that took our order, but he was the only one that apologized. Great service, good product, and reasonable prices -- everything I'd look for in a boba place. During pandemic times, they didn't have indoor seating, but the ordering process was streamlined and drinks were completed quickly. Ample parking in this complex's lot allow for it to be a great place to meet up with friends and hang out as well. I submitted my order online through their website, and when I arrived, my drink wasn't ready so I was stuck having to wait. I waited until I got home before I decided to take a drink, that was my mistake. Instead, I got grass jellies instead of golden boba and that texture just does not do it for me. Not what I paid for. There are more and boba places opening up in Metro Detroit, and while the prospect excites me, some places are going to be more worthwhile than others. Some friends and I went here today after eating lunch at Dae Jang Keum. I had heard that a Ding Tea location was actually opening today in Madison Heights, so I was curious to try out this location and see if I liked it or not. My standard order is almond milk tea, which, surprisingly, they did not have - I say 'surprisingly' because their menu is vast. I ended up trying a hazelnut milk tea, which was quite good. They also didn't have lychee jellies, so I got it with mango stars, but they have a large selection of add-ons as well. My boyfriend got a mango milk tea with mango stars and also enjoyed it, although I found it to be SUPER sweet, and I usually like super sweet drinks. Two other friends got the taro tea and I think both enjoyed theirs; one got hers with golden boba, and she said it tasted the same as the regular boba. Similar to Kung Fu Tea, I noticed you can also ask for less sugar in your drinks; I never do this, but I have some friends who swear by it. Overall, pretty much your standard bubble tea place, but I enjoyed it. I will have to check out the Madison Heights location now, too, as it's closer to where I live. read more

Took my friend here for her first bubble tea ever and she loved it! The drinks are good and fresh and I appreciated that they had a sea salt iced coffee, it was delicious. My coffee was a touch over salted even for my taste (I looove salt) but everyone else's was perfect when I tried a sip, so I think it might just be that I order another one next time. I like the fact that there is a lot of customization available here (5 levels of sweetness and 5 levels of ice), but a lot of the drinks can't have their sweetness adjusted, so it's not really as customizable as it seems. For example, I wasn't able to adjust the sweetness level of my hazelnut milk tea. The tea was okay, but nothing special. The hazelnut flavor was very slight, which was disappointing. Prices seem pretty on par with other bubble tea places. The final verdict is that I'd be open to coming back here in the future, but it's not something I'd crave and not something for which I'd go out of my way. read more

So this place apparently is a chain from Taiwan, not locally own. Their cup still have the Taiwanese phone number on it. Nice atmosphere, the staffs are nice but new. I had the regular milk tea just to test it out. Not bad. The taste of tea is not very strong but it's not too milky. To me I think kung fu tea is a little better in terms of the tea alone. Service was fast! The quality was great! It was stronger than coffee if you ask me. Since I'm trying to wean myself from coffee, this made me feel even more jittery, but the taste was amazing. This place is located in a small plaza with some other Asian businesses. There was plenty of parking which is always a plus. We came about 9:30pm, close to closing time. They have a large selection of drinks such as yogurt, teas, lattes, slushes, etc. We are from California visiting family here in Michigan so we were eager to try out boba drinks. I ordered grapefruit green tea with half sugar. The drink was good, little sweet (even with half sugar) but still good. Kids got blueberry milk tea boba 1/2 sugar (still sweet) and honey milk black tea. All drinks were delicious. The staff was very polite and patient. The only negative is the coffee machine was down so my husband could not get his coffee drink. The other negative is no samples or tasting. Overall good experience. read more

I was excited to this new bubble tea spot after my nail tech suggested it. I realize they just opened and I wish them nothing but the best, but they have kinks to be worked out. The young lady working there this afternoon was not at all knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered my standard mango milk tea and it was mostly milk and not very much tea at all. It was like drinking straight milk with a splash of flavor. So the balance needs some work. I asked for tapioca but after I ordered they informed me they were still making it. I guess it's cool if it's homemade but I did not like crystal boba they substituted. I will give them a try again when hopefully they work out the tweaks. read more

Came here for the monster boba latte but was unimpressed. It wasn't as good as much as it was hyped about. Boba has good texture but no flavor. It just tasted like sweetened milk, which is all it is; milk with brown sugar and cheese cream. Looked better than it tastes. The brown sugar milk tea was also unimpressive. 4 stars for the strawberry Yakult with strawberry star jelly. IT WAS SO GOOD. I ordered another one to go and now I'm constantly craving it. I'd give 5 stars but their milk teas are lackluster in flavor. You can go to any other boba shops for a similar/better taste. I'd come back for the yakult drinks though and their customer service. You can get your iced green and black teas, as well as all the hot ones and coffee too! They have a wide variety of toppings as well including regular boba, crystal boba, popping boba, and many different jellies. I went with a lychee green tea with regular boba and I have to say it might be the best lychee green tea I've had - and I've had a LOT! Wow wow wow. My parents are from Taiwan and we used to spend our childhood summers on this beautiful island. one of our favorite beverages to drink in Taiwan was 珍珠奶茶aka Boba Tea. We ordered the signature milk tea and it literally took me back to my summers in Taiwan, enjoying a cold refreshing Boba tea at the night market or while strolling the city shopping. The drink was a perfect mix of milk, tea and sugar and the tapioca balls were similarly boiled to a "cue cue" perfection. Cue cue means has a chewiness to it. I recommend ordering the drink with slight sugar and slight ice- slight sugar is already sweet enough. This was my first time visiting but I will surely be back to get my Taiwanese boba drink fix! Another new of the boba tea places that's been poppin' everywhere. First, the place and location - it's in a small strip place near a Korean, Japanese & Vietnamese restaurants. Not in a very busy location. Their place is ok but their working are is quite small and when we were there, they bump into each other so many times because of the placement of certain things in their working area. They shake the drinks manually. Really guys?! You cannot invest in a "shaker"?! That"s why they have 8 people working instead of 3 in other places. We waited for 45 minutes to get 3 drinks. No kidding. I know that they are new and the "baristas" are still learning the drinks. They were looking at their cheat sheets ALL THE TIME AND EVERY TIME. Thus, more time to do it. The drinks, my coffee slush was so weak. I couldn't taste the coffee. It tasted like cream, sugar, ice cube and a teeny tiny bit of coffee.
