Good made to order. The service is always nice and consistent. In the mall, however, nice ambiance.

Hers Zakka Market & Onezo Cafe - Onigiri and Sides

Hers Zakka Market & Onezo Cafe

I've been here twice in 2 days because my daughter and I were so excited to try all the things!…read more They seem to be best known for their bubble waffles, bubble tea, and fried Japanese fare (karrage and corn dogs) Our first visit we tried the mango bingsu which is finely shaved ice with condensed milk, mango syrup, popping boba, and pocky sticks. The next day we came back and tried the bubble waffle, brown sugar bubble tea, and onigiri. The attached shop sells some great snacks and essentials, the people working there are so kind, and I love the vibe and ample seating.

We were a little confused though, because Hers Zakka is a small Japanese market, and the influencer video made it seem there was a cafe inside (did not see mention of Onezo Cafe). Actually, Hers Zakka is a market, but it does not sell cooked food. For that, you go to Onezo Cafe, and the two businesses are joined on the inside. That being said, Hers Zakka has a lot of cute items and yummy-looking snacks, that we fully intend to return and explore later. Now, I will focus the rest of my review on Onezo Cafe. Onezo Cafe is very spacious with comfy seats and a cute setup. There is a glass case full of delicious-looking confections, but my husband and I needed real food. We walked to the counter and ordered, then we noticed the ordering kiosk off to the side. The staff was very friendly.... My husband ordered the Karaage chicken combo (#8), which came with salad, California rolls, and either a tonkatsu miso or spicy tofu broth. I ordered the Korean fried chicken (KFC) combo (#10), which came with rice, salad and the same broth choices. Though my husband and I both chose spicy tofu broth, they gave him the tonkatsu, and to my dismay the spicy tofu had egg in it. Since my husband has a pork allergy and I'm allergic to eggs, we just switched. While I'm not a fan of pork, I must say the tonkatsu miso broth was delicious! My husband said the same about the spicy miso. The California rolls on my husband's place looked very mayoey, so I could not try them. My husband confirmed however, that they were indeed very good. The chicken on both our plates was very good. The Karaage was fried well and had a very good taste. The KFC was essentially the Karaage rolled in sauce. While tasty, the KFC sauce was more sweet than spicy, when I prefer more of a kick. Onezo Cafe also sells boba teas. My husband got the Coral Sea with Crystal Boba (lychee honey lemon tea), and I got the Grape Crush with Aloe (subbed coconut jelly). Both teas were delicious. We lived on the East Coast for a while, and there was a boba tea chain named Mr. Wish. I used to practically mainline this stuff, and was sad there was no Mr. Wish in MI - or anything close. One sip of my Grape Crush had me saying "Mr. Who?"! I'm not being patronizing. After three years back home I had given up on finding a boba tea I liked as much as Mr. Wish! The portion was perfect, as we were able to fill our bellies with minimal food waste. We had a plan to grab a few of their onigiri (rice balls) for later along with a dessert, but we were too full! Our total order (including tax)nwas about $40, which was a good value. I'm giving a 4-star rating. It was not clear that the spicy tofu soup contained egg, and the KFC was more sweet than spicy. Im not counting the soup mixup because that actually was a blessing in disguise. We will definitely return to explore the menu more! Same for Hers Zakka; I have my shopping list ready!

Really cute spot! I would classify this place as a Japanese products store that serves…read morecoffee/tea/boba. They had stationery (e.g. notebooks and cards), Japanese and Korean makeup, a lot of gachapon machines, and other anime merchandise. We had a nice time browsing! The makeup section was a nice surprise. The gachapon is a bit expensive (1 token is like $2 and the machines require like 4 or 5 tokens depending on the toy) but I don't know the going rate for gachapon so maybe that's standard pricing? The drinks area is at the back of the store and there is ample seating to the side. The employee was friendly. I ordered a milk tea which was pleasant, not the best I've had but the price was very reasonable. The tapioca was interesting, irregularly shaped and chewy, and the core was a bit harder than the rest of it. My friend enjoyed her matcha. I can see this being a nice place to bring your sushi/bento from One World Market next door, grab a drink, and hang out!

Some Japanese items, so many Manga figurines and key chain charms and stickers too. The slippers and sleep gear actually looks comfortable. Lots of Japanese makeup here too. The green tea is ok. Service is quick and fast. The tapioca is so, doesn't taste ad chewy as I had hoped. The Mango bubble and mango tea is ok.

Mochinut

First time at this business and first time I have tried either a traditional style Mochi (single…read moreball usually with filling) or the Mochinuts (Hybrid Mochi that has many attached balls formed in the shape of a donut). Call it what you will, in simple layman's terms it is a rice flour based treat that has a unique light weight chewy/stretchy texture that can be covered in a host of sweet toppings/glazes for unique flavor profiles. With this definition in mind, the Mochinuts made at this business are very well made and quite tasty treats that just disappear off your plate. How did that happen (: Realtive to facility and staff, the staff is very friendly and spent the time explaining how these treats are made and what makes them unique from a traditional donut. Building itself is quite clean and bright with some indoor seating and sells other items to include Rice Hotdogs (think hotdog on a stick), Mochi Dumplings (think filled Pierogi's), Taiyaki (rice flour fish with fillings), Ramen and Macrons. Definately a rather unique/eclectic menu from what you typically see in this area. I was pretty enamored with all aspects of this business with the exception of their prices where each Mochinut is $4.50 which is quite steep in my opinion. Having said that, I will be returning in the not to distant future as these Mochinuts are just so darn good.

There is a make your own ramen station so much packed into a tiny spot. But the person working here was really not overly friendly to us. He was certainly friendly to others and his friend who came it, but lukewarm at best if not a tab bit rude to us. Funny, though, there were four of us and we all purchased something. Two of us got the bubble tea. This is not the first Mochinut we have been to, and the tea is super cute in a can, but ensures you get less product (plus way too much ice) for the price. Really, there are better bubble tea places out there for better value. One got a donut. And others have said, while it was good, not as fresh as it could have been. Does that mean they are not moving the product? The other mochinut in Troy and Mochidough in Troy both move a lot of product, donuts taste fresher. We also got some viral ice creams. We got the chicken burger and the mini fruits. Those were both amazing, but not made by the shop. just sold here. Plus the ice cream was so super overpriced, I can get them both for a fraction of the price, but since we were here and it was on my list, I bought them anyway. I am not saying I am not coming, back, but I can buy these corndogs at the grocery store, and get a friendlier service and more value elsewhere, so this could be a one and done for me.

This…read morebusiness is a Barista style operation where they have basically alll the drinks you would expect to see at a coffee shop of this nature. For my first drink here I ended up getting a latte where the espresso was made from organic fresh roasted in house beans. The drink was very well made with the correct ratio of milk to espresso and was creamy, balanced, where the espresso clearly shined through and most importantly the drink was quite tasty. Relative to staff and facility, Joe the owner greeted me as I walked in the door and was very friendly and outgoing where he knew the names of several customers as they walked into the coffee shop. Joes friendly demeanor appears to be one of the strengths of this business, aside from his excellent coffee, as evidenced the return customers that came in during the short period I was in his shop. The facility is quite clean with a nice coffee shop vibe to it. It has a smaller footprint with a limited number of tables for indoor dining where they also sell fresh roasted coffee beans by the bag, some pastries, and prepared food among other things. Overall great coffee at a reasonable price and a friendly owner makes this a shop not to be missed if you in the Novi area. Especially if you are a coffee geek like me.
