We absolutely love our wedding video from Legacy Films! We had not planned to have a videographer,…read morebut one came with the wedding package for our venue and we debated seeing if we could get a discount to drop it from the package. But many of our friends had told us that a wedding video was a good idea because it helps you relive the day and see parts you would not be able to otherwise, and they were absolutely right! Mark did a wonderful job of capturing not just our ceremony, but some sweet moments during our pre-wedding photos, the cocktail hour, toasts and our first dances, and even a little bit of the open dancing before the end of his contracted time. The day passes by in a total blur of joy, so we are so glad to have this video which captures the beauty and joy of the day, and we get to see even more than we actually experienced. With COVID wedding pivoting compounding wedding expenses, we didn't say yes to some extra things Mark offered, but would encourage anyone in early planning stages to plan for the extra expenses of 1) videographer coverage of everything (our contracted time didn't cover our cake cutting and the open dancing, which seemed fine in theory ahead of time but now I wish I had footage of those things) 2) go for the assistant videographer! some of my favorite things about watching the video were all the things i wouldn't have been able to experience like what was happening while the guys were getting ready or seeing people connect at the cocktail hour. there could have been so much more of this if I'd said yes to an assistant for part of the time (and so appreciate Mark running around and working as hard as he did to give us what we did have!) 3) a highlight video. while i am so glad we have a full hour and twenty minute film of our special day, that's not what most family members will want to watch. so having a short highlight video to share with those who cannot come, especially these days, would have been a nice addition. I can of course only speak to Mark's work on our wedding video, but I would assume he would do an amazing job on any of the project types Legacy Films offers since he has a great eye and vision for storytelling.

So we got lots of beautiful photos of the scenery at our venue, flower arrangements, table settings, lights, our rings, the cake, etc. He took photos of me with my bridesmaids getting ready and my husband getting ready with his groomsmen -- both candid shots and beautifully arranged ones. Lots of photos of the ceremony itself. Casual photos of our guests. More stunning photos of me and my husband after the ceremony ended. And then a whole slew of casual dinner and dancing photos of everyone having fun. He gave us about 1000 photos when all was said and done, with a perfect balance of all the different styles. He also shot our engagement photos. We spent a few hours driving around Santa Cruz taking photos in all sorts of beautiful locations. He has a great eye for finding interesting backgrounds to make his photos really stunning. When deciding which photos to put up on our walls, the problem was not finding good ones, it was narrowing down the huge number of good ones so our home isn't completely wallpapered in wedding/engagement photos.

The photo shoot was a lot of fun, and Dominic knew exactly how to position you to get the right shot. He was quick, efficient, courteous and professional. I got 11 finished photos out of a 1 hour photo shoot. ELEVEN. I looked around at places that do business shots and you usually get 1 shot. When I called them, a young guy just answered, "Hello?" How unprofessional! First red flag. I told him I was impressed by their website, but the way he answered the phone was really unprofessional and sends up a red flag; but I'm willing to move past that and inquire about their services. That was his cue to express a modicum of humility and apologize, but no -he just asked how they could help, with a tone that clearly indicated he really didn't care. There was no life in his voice. When I began telling him what I'm interested in, he cut me off and said he's busy with a client. Wow! Obviously all that glitters isn't gold, as this is clearly NOT a professional business -one that would have someone answer calls when they're with a client, or simply not answer the phone, so they can stay focused on their client. Taking away from a client's time (and money) to answer calls is disrespectful and unprofessional. Seeing any further conversation would be wasted on him, I hung up.

Jared will meet you anywhere and with the patience of a saint tell you how to use your toy. His ability to communicate concepts, and you need to know them, is very good. Does ISO, f stop, and aperture totally confuse you. It should. But Jared makes it simple... "Photography is all about light" "The Aperture mode is the artistry mode" "The ISO is like a dimmer" Golden. Unlike other teachers he LIKES teaching and never is condescending. With tons of Flickr'rs running around with expensive toys like me this guy is the missing piece. Pretty down to earth, willing to drop an f-bomb if necessary. Extra credit there...

He took time to set up each shot and was open to questions/suggestions during the shoot. In the past, we've hired other photographers, but they were always rushed and just wanted to quickly finish. Sheharyar never made us feel like that. He's very easy to talk to and truly loves what he does. He wants you to be happy with his work and makes sure to get every angle in, just right. He showed us recent pictures, of a home he photographed in the East Bay. While he was panicking on the phone trying to find someone who knew a videographer, I did a Yelp search and decided to call Bay Tiger. I explained our "emergency" to Ken when he answered the phone. He said he could probably help us so I handed the phone over to my husband. They quickly worked out the details and agreed on a budget, at which point Ken abandoned his Sunday workout, got in the car and made it to Menlo Park in time to shoot the film that was needed. He also did some quick turnaround editing-as in overnight. While I didn't interact with him beyond the initial phone contact, my husband said that he was extremely professional and very good at what he does. I was tremendously impressed that not only did he answer his phone on a Sunday, he was willing to turn his day upside down to accommodate our request.

This past June 8th, we finally had the opportunity to hire and work with Ken, as it was our company's 3 Year Anniversary Party at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
