Dominic shot my wedding, and he was absolutely fabulous. He got all the traditional photos you need to get at a wedding of course, but he also took creative photos throughout the entire day. So we got lots of beautiful photos of the scenery at our venue, flower arrangements, table settings, lights, our rings, the cake, etc. He took photos of me with my bridesmaids getting ready and my husband getting ready with his groomsmen -- both candid shots and beautifully arranged ones. Lots of photos of the ceremony itself. Casual photos of our guests. More stunning photos of me and my husband after the ceremony ended. And then a whole slew of casual dinner and dancing photos of everyone having fun. He gave us about 1000 photos when all was said and done, with a perfect balance of all the different styles. He also shot our engagement photos. We spent a few hours driving around Santa Cruz taking photos in all sorts of beautiful locations. He has a great eye for finding interesting backgrounds to make his photos really stunning. When deciding which photos to put up on our walls, the problem was not finding good ones, it was narrowing down the huge number of good ones so our home isn't completely wallpapered in wedding/engagement photos. read more

Was referred to Dominic through a make up artist that has worked with him before in the past. Although he does not have a long list of outstanding reviews, i figured it would still be safe since it was a referral. I'm more of the type where I think word of mouth referrals is just as good, if not better, than online reviews. I do read yelp reviews but have come to realize sometimes people leave sub-par review due on emotional circumstances. I'm not photographer but the photos Dominic was contracted to do for our event turned out fantastic. He seemed extremely focused and detail oriented during the entire gig, and his assistance was pleasant to work with as well. Multiple times, I noticed Dominic's expertise and knowledge in his field to be well worth the price he charged. Not sure if this is his full time job or not, as he doesn't respond to emails lightning quick, but he does come around to it in a reasonable amount of timeframe. No complaints here. He even went beyond his duties to deliver the large print we wanted for the office and followed up with us a month later to make sure everything was good. I was looking on yelp and the knot for a wedding photographer and it was very hard to decide. I'm very particulate with photos as I analyzed everyone's portfolio. Who wants a photographer that just points an clicks, and throw in a little edditing at the end? Some photographers were missing the fine details, and were unable to highlight the couples facial expression picture as the picture was taken. Our wedding had the background of the Golden Gate Bridge and the view is beautiful and breathtaking, and i wanted to make sure the photographer was able to capture it. After talking to couple of different wedding photographer's about they're angle, portfolio and price, I found Dominic from IMAN Studios. He had a lot modeling shots, that were really detailed. At first i was a little worried about the wedding part as it's nothing like a model shoot, as everything is on the fly, you only have that one shot. We communicated back and forth on what kind of packages he offered, and he finally signed a contract 3 months before the wedding. We had chosen the photo/video package, for which he'll be onsite for roughly 10 hours. So the wedding day comes, and he's at the hotel already shooting and filming at the hotel bright and early. He started with the bride and her crew, then we started to take the Bridal parties. Believe me, I hate taking pictures, but he was definitely making sure everyone had the correct angle, posture, and a smile on their face. At the end of the night, I barely noticed him, as he was gracefully moving through out the site, without causing any disruptions. Usually I see wedding photographers having to run all over the ceremony, and block guests so they can get their shot. Dominic was like a ninja with a camera. After the dust settled from all the wedding festivities, Dominic sends us the link to our photo album, and my jaw dropped, over 1300 pictures..and not just garbage shots, these were well edited and precise photos. I didn't even know there was that many pictures taken, but every picture was crisp and clean. Everyone that we sent pics to, they loved it. He was able to capture those facial expression between me and my wife during the wedding, that only happens at that one precise moment in a click of his camera. That magic moment will be something I'll look back at when I grow older, and be able to see in the photo, that wonderful moment of how we celebrated our marriage with friends and family. The album tells the story of our special night, and he definitely helped make it wonderful. Our photo album and video will last forever and we'll always cherished the moment that was captured. I plan on recommending Dominic to all my friends looking for photographers. When it comes down to weddings and finding vendors, it's very difficult, but you're going to have to trust and depend on your vendors, to make sure everything turns out the way YOU want it. Things looked promising from the start but quickly failed. It was for our wedding. He was nice and friendly, took lots of pictures. I liked the artsy pictures on his website and asked him to be creative with our pictures. (Creative, not random.) What we got were a few ok pictures. The rest of the pictures were not good compositions. They were all tilted to the right or left, all at a standing height. There were random pictures taken of objects that obviously belonged to the church and not to us. One specific one was of a dirty little vase sitting on the window sill in the kitchen of the church which had a pencil in it, and he seemed to think that would make a great picture for our wedding pictures! Another one was a close up shot of the vacant sign on the bathroom door. Another of the moss growing on the roof of the church; another of the dead leaves that collected in a crevice on the roof. Another of the post-it note deterring intruders on the downstairs door of the church which had nothing to do with the wedding!....um....seriously?!? What we had ordered from him was pictures from the event put on a CD so we could share them with family who weren't able to make it out. Dominic promised to have that mailed to us within 15-20 days after the event. I waited...and waited. Our wedding was June 28, 2011, but Aug 6, 2011 I still hadn't received our pictures and emailed Dominic to ask about them. He claimed that he thought he had already sent them. Aug 18th, he emailed me again saying he would get to his computer that coming weekend and send the pictures to me. His excuse for not getting the pictures to me on time was because it is a sad side effect of moonlighting as a photographer. He also said he would do free family portraits for us for being so patient. So I thought great that sounds nice. Aug 21, 2011 he sent me a link for the pictures. Still no CD of the pictures. So I waited and waited again. January of 2012 I emailed Dominic again asking about the CD of pictures and giving him times and days that would work well for a family portrait. No response. On Aug 21, 2012 I emailed him again asking for a partial refund because he had not responded, and we had not received the CD nor had he made any effort to set up a day for our family portrait. He emailed me back that he checked his email archives and indeed had missed my last email. He apologized and gave a sob story of being in a lot of debt and claimed that he had sent a CD to us and that he couldn't follow up on it due to how busy he was, and implied that the CD must have gotten lost in the mail. He then asked if the link he had sent was not satisfactory for us to work with! Um, hello?!? I paid for a CD you said you were going to mail it! Just sending a link is not a replacement for a CD! He also said he did not have the funds to give us a partial refund right away. Hmm...with such a busy schedule? You must be making quite a bit with your too busy to contact us schedule but you can't afford a refund? Right.... Because of all the emotional distress he has put us through I asked for some prints and a large print for a vertical oval frame that I had purchased. He agreed, and not all ovals being equal, asked me to drop the frame by his families frame shop. I had emailed him on Oct 18, 2012 describing the specific picture that I wanted in the frame and told him that if that picture wouldn't work in the frame to email me and I could pick another picture for it. I didn't get a response and thought everything was fine. March 14, 2013, I still hadn't heard back from Dominic, so I email. He apologized again and said he had finished the frame at the end of last year, and that he was waiting for my call! Seriously?!? Like i'm going to somehow magically know that it was done?!! Oh and was waiting for me to call to schedule the family portrait. Um, I already did in my email last October! He seriously doesn't pay attention to anything!!! And, that he doesn't know of me requesting prints! Um..you need to go re-read my emails and pay attention! He then says that his grandfather died and was busy with that. If his grandfather really did pass, i'm sorry about that, but it really just seems like he's making up excuses for his laziness in doing business! This is no way to run a business and it is not professional! April 10, 2013, Excitedly, I go to pick up the frame from his parents shop! I get there and his mom brings it out and they had put the print in SIDEWAYS!!! It's A VERTICAL FRAME!!! She claims that I can hang it horizontal so I flip it over and show her that no you can't, here's the hanging hooks, and point to the crown indicating of the frame!!! She calls Dominic. He claims that it can be hung horizontal too!!! None of these people pay attention!!! We come to another agreement and leave it at him getting back to me with a pic that would work in the frame. It's now April 17, still haven't heard from him. Sigh.... read more

Iman Studios was contracted out to take pictures at a formaly military event I attended earlier this year. I paid cash on the spot because that's what they preferred, but never received my photos. I waited several weeks before contacting Dominic to ascertain the status of my pictures, and 6 weeks after the event, he promised to mail them to my residence. Several emails and voice mails since then have gone unreturned. Four months have passed and still no pictures. I would find someone else for your photography needs, these guys stink. read more
