It's been difficult to find a great sushi spot in Pittsburgh but I think this one might have jumped to the top. The signage is a little confusing, but the former 15* Fahrenheit is now Diners 2+1, a new poke and sushi restaurant on Murray. We ordered the pretty roll, a tuna roll, and a salmon roll along with a chirashi bowl. We also received octopus skewers as an appetizer compliments of the chef. The octopus was crispy and delicious. Think tempura calamari. The pretty roll was one of the best rolls I've had recently, and we do a lot of sushi. The bowl was surprisingly packed with sashimi, seaweed, and spicy crab. Check it out--we are definitely going back again soon! Updated to add some details about our second visit. We ordered two bowls to go as we were leaving the JCC. My favorite roll is definitely the mango roll, and their homemade tempura shrimp is out of this world!! Get this - they now even offer free delivery with orders over $20! I honestly cannot say enough about how much I loved Diners 2+1. It is such a hidden gem and I'm afraid it will get too popular!! We went on a Monday evening during prime dinner hour. No reservations, but wasn't needed. The menu had a lot of good variety, plus they had some daily (?) specials - not sure how often they change. We ordered one of the specials (spicy tuna and California roll) and a chef's choice poke bowl with avocado. We were given complimentary calamari (so was another table, not sure if this is just what they do, or because they had so few customers that evening they were giving some away) to start and we had basically a 5 minute wait time for our sushi after that. I think the pictures speak for themselves... it was AMAZING!!!! The poke bowl was more like a poke plate, and the fish was so fresh and soft. The rolls were also a decent size, but my boyfriend helped me finish my poke plate no problem. :) We were also treated to a lemon mochi bite, which we devoured before taking a pic. :( The service was amazing. Our waiter was so kind and nice and efficient. Our waters never went even half empty. I'm not sure if the complimentary app and dessert is standard procedure, or just a special treat, but we loved the gesture because it made us feel special. Also unsure about drinks other than water. We only wanted water, so we never looked to see if they have anything else. We got all that food for $32!!!! Best value for quality sushi in da 'Burgh!!! The garnish was on point. Their special rolls are creative and not commonly seen elsewhere. Both of the rolls I ordered were so delicious. When we finished, the boss asked us if we liked mochi, I said yes and he brought us 1 sliced-in-half piece of vanilla mochi (I guess?! I'm not sure) to try for free. It was so nice of him. The Calamari was some of the best I've ever had. We got the Mango roll, Benny, Penny and the sexy girl. It was one of the best sushi restaurants we have been to in a very long time and it was all delicious. We would return here every single time we came to the Squirrel Hill!! A must go! PS Please remove the old signage and just some advice from a big fan... it would do WAY better if you change the name of your restaurant to something that indicates it is a sushi restaurant.
