What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. Review Update (2026)…read more I am updating my original 5-star review from a few years ago. At the time, we were very happy with our kitchen remodel and the overall experience working with Creative Design & Build. The project turned out beautifully, which is why I originally left such a positive review. Over the years, however, I noticed that one section of the flooring felt slightly soft when walking on it. At first, it did not seem serious, so we continued to live with it. Recently, the problem became worse and a section of the floor began to noticeably sink when stepped on and eventually a few edges of the flooring broke. At that point, I became concerned that it could become a safety issue. Because we still had plenty of spare flooring boards left over from the project, I attempted to replace the affected board myself. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the new board to fit correctly due to the locking system, and I could not restore the original board either. I then contacted Creative Design & Build for assistance. One reason I reached out was because our original project manager, Oded, had told us that if we ever had any issues, we should contact the company. I left a voicemail and later received a return call from a staff member. After I explained the situation, she said she would check with management and get back to me. A few days later, I received a text message stating that the warranty had expired and that no repairs would be covered. This was disappointing because I had never been informed that there was a four-year warranty period, nor was I able to find any reference to such a limitation in our contract. When I asked for details regarding the warranty and whether they could recommend someone to repair the issue, I did not receive any further response. There were two other issues relating to electrical and plumbing, however we decided to live with that until we had a major problem we needed fixing. I still appreciate the work that was done on our remodel years ago, and our kitchen remains a space we enjoy. However, I have been disappointed by the lack of follow-up and support when a problem arose. My advice to future customers is to make sure all warranty terms, coverage details, and expiration dates are clearly documented and understood before signing a contract.

The initial design was good, but together we landed on something even better because they actually listened and engaged. Never once felt like we were being told what to do. Timeline and contractor coordination? On point. There was a moment where a trade was running behind and we raised it -- they took the feedback well and kept things moving. There was also a moment where we pushed back on the slab count and rather than brushing us off, they looped in the right people to work it through with us. That's just good business. What really stands out though is the design thoughtfulness. They respected our very specific taste while also gently steering us toward choices we'd love long-term. And they brought ideas we never would've come up with -- like building in an air switch cutout -- little details that make everyday life in the kitchen so much nicer. Came in pretty much on time. We did demo, design, and permitting separately, so I can't speak to those aspects, but I believe TR's team can handle all of those internally as well if desired. Overall, I'll start by saying that TR has assembled a great team of thoughtful, knowledgeable, and thorough folks across all trades. I can see why they've been around for over 20 years. Along with this, cost was extremely reasonable and straight to the point, in contrast with the many other GCs we screened during our initial bidding process. From start to finish TR's team was highly responsive and easy to work with, and in several instances went above and beyond what I thought were our agreed upon expectations. Our finished home turned out very close to how we initially envisioned, with probably any differences being our own changing opinions around certain design choices. If I were to offer a few minor critiques, they would be the following , though I believe these are generalizable to the construction industry in general rather than TR, specifically: 1) Timetables/clear schedules can be an occasional friction point, though our PM, Joshua, Teresa & the rest of the scheduling team did their best to give updates when they could. 2) In general, I would strongly recommend homeowners to have a basic understanding of how different trades work. Throughout our process some hiccups did come up that needed to be pointed out by us. However, TR and team were extremely quick and thorough about rectifying once brought up - which we really appreciated. Handyman Cal was not selected based solely on price, as their estimate was in the middle of the range of competing bids. The primary factors in our decision were Ivan's willingness to visit our home, speak directly with my wife and me, and refine the cost estimate following his onsite assessment. The overall value was excellent when considering the quality relative to cost, adherence to the promised start and completion dates, protection of furniture and fixtures, and thorough cleanup. Ivan and Sergiy were highly professional and courteous throughout the project. They delivered high-quality workmanship and completed the job within the agreed timeline. During the final quality assurance review, a small amount of paint was observed on the wood trim near the sink. Ivan has kindly agreed to return and correct this minor issue.
