When I lived in Redmond, I wanted to have some skylights put in. This was my first time getting a…read morecontractor, so I was inexperienced in doing screening. During the estimate, Craig seemed nice enough. He gave an estimate and was very professional and courteous. so I made an appointment with him. After waiting for over a month, they just plain missed my appointment. When I called they were on their way to another job. No apologies, as if that's the way it was. They said they could schedule me in for the following week. Against my better judgment, I agreed.
The second appointment, they were over an hour late without calling. Then after cutting the ceiling without checking the attic first, they said in order to install the skylight as I asked, they need to charge extra. This is something they could have known and taken into account just by looking in the attic, so it's sort of a hidden charge to add to the original estimate. Since they had already cut a big hole in my ceiling at this point, I agreed to it to keep moving forward.
When they put the skylight in, one of the frames they used had a piece of wood that broke in half and only half remained on the frame. However, Craig insisted it wasn't part of the support and would be sturdy. Even if it's not part of the frame, using broken off wood (half of which was gone) on parts that are unseen separates the good contractors from bad contractors.
For cleaning up, they used this shop vac but somehow didn't close the lid, so when they vacuumed, a layer of particle dust was sprinkled all over the house and the entire house was in this hazardous dust.
Lastly, when I asked them if they could wipe the skylights before they go because I don't personally like going up to the roof, they spat, yes just like that, on the windows to wipe it. How is that for respecting their customers.
Afterwards, we noticed that there were spots where the texture wasn't done right, so we asked them to fix it. One day, without ringing our doorbell, they just climbed up on the roof, unscrewed the skylight, sprayed some of the texture spray, closed it back up and left. They really have a disregard for the privacy of their customers.
They are the worst type of contractors. Poor quality work, hidden charges, and just plain rude. Avoid like the plague!
