    Lamb shank

The food was fresh and everything advertised on the buffet was there. Be sure to check out the lamb shank! You have to order it from a worker, but it is buttery tender and really hits the spot for meat lovers. On top of all of that, the servers were nice and friendly. We're definitely coming back again!

Food poisoning. I go here a lot and the last time we had a beef dish and my family got very sick. I had to miss work because I was nauseous and threw up. My wife got sick also! And she had exact same symptoms. Too bad.

Truly just otherworldly so good. Chick pea salad and pita bread were the highlight. 10/10 so yummy

I am very underwhelmed by this location. I was so excited to visit because the Austin, TX, location is so good. I arrived at 2 p.m. The line was stocked nicely, minus a few items. No big deal. However, the items they had available were not great. They were not fresh at all. I don't know if their steam tables struggle to keep items hot, but my selections were, at best, warm. The biggest disappointment was the Baba Ganoush. This is not the same recipe they use at other locations. It was absolutely inedible. I've never experienced this kind of disappointment at any of their other locations.

I've been to my fair share of Dimassi's throughout the city and I can't think of more massive location than this one on Westheimer. Despite the recent facelift, other locations feel newer and less dated, but this place has more parking, seating, and food options than all of them. (#1) Unlike the sister spots that are part of a strip mall, this one stands alone in its own building with limited outdoor seating. It was also a unique space since they had a waterway for decor, but was patched up and filled out sometime last year when they redid the sign. The place is so huge that I've never really seen it full, even during their busiest days on the weekend. Anyone can show up with a group of 40 and I'm willing to bet everyone will fit. The long buffet line makes me feel like this was a cafeteria at some point. The salad options are vast everything from kale caesars to pasta salads to broccoli with cranberries. They have an extensive amount of hot foods, breads (along with pizza), and the standard Middle Eastern dessert options with soft serve. There are some Dimassi's that will have some of these elements, but rarely a place that has all of them. I have had good results with the chicken shawarma here as well as their kofte. The salt and pepper cauliflower is always a hit and the creamy hummus options (avocado, spicy, regular) are tasty. I am really enamored with their lentils and rice, extremely crispy falafels, the lamb gyro slices are easy go-tos. I also think highly of their baba ganoush, tzatziki, and freshly baked warm bread. They also tend to go heavier with the spices on their foods than other locations. It's not all roses though, the baked chicken and steamed fish are a little bland and the pizzas are not really flavorful. I also think the lamb shank can be both gamey and funky at times. The famous Dimassi's pasta is also kind of a watery mess, where it falls apart even before it gets on my fork. They also offer 10% off with a Yelp check-in. They've been generous overall with the service and I've always enjoyed coming here for a lunch meeting, a quick dinner or an all out gluttonous (#2) feast. __________ (#1) Until proven otherwise. (#2) But semi-healthy

My family dinned here on Friday evening. Price person was $23.99 and seniors will receive 10% off. The food was great. I liked the baked chicken rice, gyro meat, lamb shank, and grill veggie the most. The buffet also comes with drinks. Can wait to go back.

However, we were charged for it at the end. I understand the charge itself, but no one at the table had ordered it; they just set it on the table. It would have been nice if the staff had made it clear or asked if we wanted to add it to our meal. Perhaps there was a mix up with another table. It's the kind of spot that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for a relaxed night out with friends or family. We started off with the lentil soup, which was comforting and flavorful--light yet satisfying, with a nice balance of spices. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and elevated even more by the complimentary fresh bread, which came out warm and perfectly baked--easily one of the highlights of the meal. For mains, the Koobideh Combination stole the show. The kababs were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly, with that classic smoky flavor that makes Persian kabobs so good. Definitely the standout dish and a must-order. The Salmon & Chicken combo was equally impressive--both proteins were tender, nicely grilled, and paired beautifully with the saffron rice and grilled vegetables, giving you a great mix of flavors and textures. We also tried the Soujuk & Cheese Lahmajun, which added a nice twist to the meal. It had a crispy base with rich, savory toppings, and the cheese brought everything together really well--great for sharing. Avesta is a solid go-to for Persian cuisine in Houston. Between the quality of the kababs, fresh bread, and overall flavor, everything hit the mark. Pair that with the great atmosphere and welcoming staff, and it's definitely a place worth coming back to

I had heard great things about the cafe at this new location, and had even tried their former location on Hillcroft a couple years ago as part of TooGoodToGo. While the concept is casual, the restaurant itself is very polished and feels like an upscale cafe. There is plenty of seating indoors as well as a huge patio outdoors. We opted to sit on the patio on a (rare) nice Houston day. The tables were spacious and the patio seating was very comfortable. We ordered the Kofta Kabob and Chicken Kabob specialty platters. These platters come with your choice of two sides - we went for the Fried Cauliflower, Tabouli Salad, Hummus, and Muhammara. The meats were so good and hit the spot. The Kofta Kabob had a complexity of flavor to it; so many spices that blended together really well. I will say that the post-meal burps of these spices were...smellier than usual. The Chicken Kabob was also flavorful and had a nice smokiness to it from the grill. I liked the slight crunch provided by the char along the edges. If I knew how to make chicken like this, it would be my daily meal prep! The Fried Cauliflower had a nice sear to it with lots of flavor. The Tabouli Salad and Hummus were comparable to those I've had at other Mediterranean places. The Muhammara was my favorite of the sides! It is a dip like hummus but also incorporates tomatoes, red bell peppers, and onions, among other spices; there was so much flavor to it and I could snack on this all day. The included pita bread was large, fluffy, and piping hot - perfect for dipping between the two side dips we got. Service was quick and friendly. The employee taking our order behind the counter was friendly and gave us the recommendation for the Muhammara - great rec. Even though there with many people there, there was plenty of seating and a nice sized patio we should have sat and enjoyed the cool breeze as it's on the East side of the restaurant.
