The food was great but we will never return to this or any other DiMassi's location because of the rude treatment by the cashier. This was our first time trying this place and we were excited because we love Greek/Arabic food (having spent many years in those areas). However, when my husband asked how the leftovers packaging and pricing worked (it's a self-serve buffet), he was met with a snarl and disdain by the cashier who acted like my husband was an inconvenience for asking the question. When we finished our meal and returned to the cashier to check out with our leftovers, Snarl McSnarlson (the cashier), was even more aggressive towards me and my son. I reached for the receipt that printed after I selected a tip and tapped my card to pay but McSnarlson snapped, "That's for to-go orders!" And snatched the paper from the machine. I then inserted my card and the payment screen quickly changed to the Home Screen skipping the section to select a print, text, or email receipt. I asked McSnarlson if he canceled my receipt and he waved at the machine then snapped, "Was I not supposed to print your receipt?!?" I asked, "Do you have a problem?" And he yelled at me and my child again, "You asked for one and I printed it." I had not. My husband suggested we leave to avoid further escalation, and McSnarlson muttered, "Get the f*** out of my restaurant." as we were halfway through the door. read more

Dimassi's is the first GREEK buffet I've ever dined at. The restaurant is clean and the Mediterranean decor is lovely. There's plenty of space for large parties, and you're greeted kindly once you enter. Unlike most buffets I've been to, at Dimassi's, you pay AFTER you've had your fill. Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet is surprisingly not very expensive. Their food is freshly made, straight from the kitchen and everything at the buffet is always kept at the right temperature. There's multiple kinds of salads, hummus, meats, fresh veggies, pasta, beans, rice dishes, and desserts. Their pita bread and flatbreads are freshly baked from the oven. They even serve authentic Greek coffee. Most of the dishes are what you'd typically see in Mediterranean cuisine. While, there's some classic American comfort food mixed in. Dimassi's offers pick up orders, if you're not in the mood for buffets. I liked their chicken kebabs, but they're too thick. I wouldn't recommend the meatballs. They were dry and lacked flavor. The tomato sauce the meatballs were steeped in didn't help. The sauce was watery and very bland. Their Beef Kofta is delicious, but very rich, so I wouldn't eat more than one piece. Their rice pudding wasn't the best either. It still had chunks of rice. Dimassi's doesn't have much to offer for little kids. They only had cheese pizza, fried chicken wings, fries, banana pudding with vanilla wafers, and only one kind of cookie. I think I'll take my mother here sometime, though. read more

First off, the restaurant was very clean, and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Unfortunately, the food just didn't have much flavor. The gyro meat was served in large chunks, almost like it had been torn apart by hand. Most of the meat trays were running low, and nothing fresh came out while we were there. The lentil soup was watery and lacked seasoning, though the falafels were decent. There were 4-5 different rice dishes, but they all tasted very similar. The Dr Pepper was good, at least. Dimassi's is a fave for me and my niece. We go every time she comes to town and eat until our bellies are just about to pop. On our last visit, we were the only people there for like a full 30 or 40 minutes and had the buffet all to ourselves. It was nice and clean, bright and wonderful. I love that it's so easy to eat healthy here and still get full or you can go all out and just eat anything your heart desires, which is exactly what I did on my most recent visit. I start out with salads, the delicious yellow lentil soup and hummuses, then move on to the hot veggies, then a little rice and the meats, typically I'll do chicken and/or the kafka, refills on the hot veggies and maybe some more of that yummy lentil soup. The little falafel balls are so delicious. I basically eat those with every round. I love dipping them into the lentil soup and the different hummuses. Then the grand finale, their delicious desserts: baklava, namoura, rice pudding. They have almond cookies and a few other options as well but didn't have them on our most recent visit. The dessert bar also includes fruit: grapes, oranges, pineapple. Dimassi's is delicious. Don't forget to grab a small cup of their cardamom coffee on your way out but be careful if you stuffed your belly, the coffee might put you over the top if you know what I mean. read more

It's a great place if you're looking for a clean buffet with a variety of delicious options that taste like a homemade Mediterranean feast. It's comfy and they play traditional music in the background. The food selection is plentiful so everyone should find something they like. The first time I went here, everything was bland and tasted like nothing, as one commenter put it. But guess what? I had Covid during that time, didn't realize it until a few days later, and that's why it was bland. So for those who say that, make sure you just aren't sick. Gorgeous & spacious interior but there are quite a few kinks that need to be worked out! - Ample parking in the gigantic lots out front - Service is very limited which I like. You seat yourself & immediately head over to the buffet line. They ask you to wear gloves to serve yourselves. Pick out whatever drink you'd like. When you're done, get up & pay. There were 3 employees working on a Saturday night: the cashier, one cleaning tables, and the cook. The biggest thing I wish they could improve on is how the food can get VERY cold, especially the meat entrees that are supposed to be warm. They're barely heated to begin with, and by the time you eat them EVEN if you move along fast in the line, it's already super cold. This included the baked fish, gyro, chicken, the rice next to it... Even the complimentary lamb shanks that come w/ the weekend dinner buffet were cold too :( This happened the multiple times we all went to get more food. Perhaps they can put an optional food warmer on the sides somewhere in the future? I found especially the meats to be difficult to enjoy when they were like ice :( It's fair price $20.99 per person for a weekend dinner, and nowadays that's a steal. We visited Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet on a weekend during lunch. The restaurant is easy to find and has plenty of parking near the door or a short walk away. Once you enter you are greeted by a friendly hostess who explains everything. The food area is kept very clean. There are posted signs reminding patrons to use new gloves every time they visit the food area. There is a wide selection of food options. Everything is delicious and warm. I like Mediterranean cuisine and I love buffets, but Dimassis is hit or miss. Located near the Gulf Freeway/Bay Area underpass, Dimassis adds to the First World problem of struggling to choose a place to eat after a retail therapy session at Baybrook or Best Buy. The area is already brimming with restaurants and cafes, which isn't a bad thing. I was in the mood for Mediterranean so the location thing was ace. Entering the establishment, I was impressed with how spacious it was. The buffet appeared to have a vast selection of entrees, sides, and what-have-you. My famished self was in for a great lunch before some holiday shopping. Or so I thought. Let me start with the positives. I really liked the chickpeas. They bore an addictively good flavor to where I kept getting ladle after ladle. The chicken kabob was plentiful, tender, and generously seasoned. I was equally pleased with the grilled bone-in chicken, which was a succulent treat. Now, the negatives. The rice with mixed vegetables and the rice with lentils lacked taste. It was the same with the kafta and the gyro meat. The fried chicken underwhelmed with its somewhat stale skin and rubbery meat. Also, while I understand that there's a shortage on lamb, I was still disappointed that I didn't get to try some. I'm holding out hope this place will improve upon my next visit hence the three stars. And maybe there will be lamb. read more

In addition to the ambience, the spread was amazing!!! Including three validities of hummus, multiple varieties of meat and lamb shank (weekend specials) that was delectable. Food was pretty good for a buffet, there are better places but those are usually alot more for less food

So we recently had a celebration there, and everything went perfect! The staff were very helpful and maintained quick cleanup, with the front checkout manager always checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was significantly more fresh relative to other open buffets that are self serve and delicious as always. Since we were a group of about 50 and with kids, the hall was reserved for us all that has all the pictures from the Middle East and the music level was perfect so we could carry on conversations without needing to shout. Not a good location. I'm happy Dimassi's finally expanded a location near my neck of the woods, but they don't use the same practices at all locations. I'm a huge fan of Dimassi's and absolutely love Mediterranean food. I've visited most Dimassi locations in Houston and Austin area as most have food that accommodates to all dietary lifestyles. However, this location is an exception. The three times I've visited this location it has been very inconsistent with what they put out on the buffet. The first two times I came in, there was a good selection of vegan items on the menu. The third time I visited most of my favorite dishes weren't marked vegan and not on the buffet. I have never seen chickpea salad at any other location put cheese on the dish. This Dimassi does it. The namoura was marked vegan, but wasn't. The rice vermicelli wasn't vegan. I asked the cashier in the front about the lack of vegan items on the buffet and he said that items wished to be veganized needed to be special ordered with a small fee. That is ridiculous. I'm already paying for the buffet and now a separate charge. The third time was my last time. The Kirby location is much better and has a wide variety of vegan items on the buffet. This was serendipitous. I was hovering over Google's map near the Texas Medical Center campus and saw this Mediterranean buffet ("score" and "score.") It wasn't Di Massi, approximating a more Italian spelling. It was Dimassi. I looked at the web site and it was clearly food from the Middle East, including items that could be construed as Greek. They are also an up and running operation that has various locations and is expanding, with a presence in the "Big D" as well. Lo and behold, Dimassi's Buffet also had a newer location in the "Bay Area," about halfway between Houston and Galveston, and next to the freeway in a strip mall. There is no shortage of strip malls along the frontage roads, or feeders, next to the Gulf Freeway! And there's no shortage of parking, either. This Webster restaurant, which is in the vicinity of NASA and Space Center Houston, is nicely finished, both in its exterior and interior. I was immediately able to take a seat, but, nonetheless, it is a popular place and they tend to be busy. With many customers aligning with the ethnicity of the food they feature eating there, that tends to be a good sign. I usually put together 4 plates at a buffet. Here, at Dimassi's Buffet, I put together 3 plates. That's because I really liked the items that were destined for the first plate - salads, hummus, falafel, tabouleh / cous cous, and the like - so that plate was stacked up and filled out. The second plate had the main dishes, of which they feature several presentations of chicken. All of them resonated with me except for one. Also, I tried a little bit of the pasta and felt that that should be left to Italian restaurants and buffets, as it was just okay. The third plate was reserved for desserts. They didn't have that many, like they might at a casino buffet, but what they had was very good. Their little baklava triangles were among the best I've ever had, falling apart with minimal effort with easy strokes of the fork. Also, a type of rice pudding that was available was also very good . A non-alcoholic drink was included and I had a soft drink that was refilled a few times. Again, the interior is very nice and comfortable. The serving lines, divided into zones, seemed to handle the customer flow fairly well. Customers are to put on the flimsy plastic gloves you've seen in other places as they help themselves from the serving lines. All of the employees were pleasant enough. The pricing scheme is fair, considering the quality and quantity of the food. Note that this is exclusively a Middle Eastern buffet. There won't be any American, Italian, or Asian food. So go in if and when you are craving Middle Eastern food. Go with an empty stomach, too! This Dimassi's location gets 4 stars from me, knowing that I can return and focus on the items I liked the best from having sampled quite a few of their offerings on this first visit to this venue. read more
