Having been to the Frisco location, Hubby and I met friends at the location for Sunday dinner. I thought I would expect the same experience as the Frisco location, but was disappointed. The dining room is organized with three rows of continuous tables spanning the length of the room. The handful of separate tables were all taken, and we had to decide which 10+ party table we wanted to join. These huge groups included too many small children without parental oversight, so we ended being surrounded by kids running around us. More than half of the buffet was salads, and the kafta and gyro meat were pretty dry on the buffet. Lamb shanks were not on the buffet, and we had to ask for it. Zatar bread was cold and dry. The kids were helping themselves to the sweets and ice cream, which made the sweets unappetizing to eat. If you and 20 members of your family is looking for an accommodating restaurant, I would say, this place is for you... but a smaller party is better off going to the Frisco location. read more

There's a lot of food. It's an all-you-can-stuff-in-your-pie-hole buffet. They have a lot of options. If you've not been there before let me give you the scoop. GO IN. GET A PLATE. GET YOUR FOOD. EAT. PAY ON THE WAY OUT. I know that's not the normal order. Do not wait for hostess to seat you. Do not stand at the register waiting for someone to take your money before you eat. And this is where I sound like an idiot (I know, what? Just now?). The chicken in the yellow sauce is delicious. The stuff that looks like alfredo but isn't, is also pretty good--really mushroomy. I had a lot of gyro meat and none of it was dry. Meatballs with tomatoes and onions was great. Meat k-bob things were fantastic, especially with chili sauce. Bread was really soft and fresh. They were replenishing a lot while we ate. Lots of drink options. Dessert of rice pudding and baklava is included! The place is not fancy. The emphasis is on the food choice. I will go back again, until my doctor finally tells me it's time to lay off the buffets. read more

I prefer this location out of any Dimassi's location. Food: FRESH PITA BREAD EVERY 15 MINUTES. What did I do to deserve this? You must try the rice with veggies (I'm not exactly sure what it's called), chicken kabob, gyro, and baklava. Everything is also well balanced, nothing is ever too bland or too salty. Environment: Not as big as some of the other locations, however, there should never be a reason you can't find a seat. I also noticed this is the cleanest location; tables get cleaned up within 5-10 minutes after the party leaves. Staff: I don't think I've ever encountered nicer workers at a buffet. Even though you really don't interact with anyone until you get up to pay, the cashiers always genuinely want to know about your dining experience. read more

DE-LISH-US! This was my first visit however it certainly won't be my last. There has been a huge influx of Mediterranean places open up all over the Dallas area. I am new to the Mediterranean experience, but starting to be able to differentiate the places and let me just say, this is one of the really good ones. It is a bit different when you walk in because you just walk in, go to the back where the buffet line is and get a plate, serve yourself some dood, sit down, eat, repeat as necessary, then pay on your way out the door. The advantage for me being a newbie at a buffet is that I got to try a bit of everyrhing, including many things I had never eaten before. Of the things I had tried at other restaurants I have to say Dimmasis was at least as good if not better. I considered the 12.95 per person for this food to be a heck of a deal! read more

This place is seriously good and authentic. I struggle finding places that have the authentic tastes and this place kicks it out of the park. It is a buffet but they have a sign that you will be charged for excessive waste of food so don't grab what you can't eat. In town visiting family and they recommend Dimassi's as a great place to take their 2yo we were babysitting. They thought we could get in/out before our granddaughter ran out of 'be sweet'. But this place is so much more than just another fast buffet. We were incredibly pleased to find great food and a friendly staff. My wife is eating 'plant based' and Dimassi's is a great place for vegetarians. But I was impressed with the selection of meats and the incredible range of flavors and textures. The wife and I decided to give this place a try while we were out and about. The buffet was very Mediterranean-y although I would have liked to see more veg. It has personal and picnic/family style seating, was well lit and clean-ish. The food was C- to B+ quality for a buffet and they make the pita fresh right there. So ya, for the kids at UT Dallas and locals it is a nice buffet, decently priced and fairly tasty. My only complaint would be the 2 sided buffet that serves from one side while the staff does their thing from the other. I can not imagine why people would complain at all since there is no way you can' eat well at the Richardson location. Plenty of variety and the staff is super nice and helpful if you would need them. Food is good and high rotation due to many customers go there every day, so nothing at the buffet sits for too long. The lamb shank you always have to order it, so what is the big deal. The price is fair and even below for the amount of meat fruit and veggies that are not of low price. And it includes drink that can be cold drink or tea and coffee. I love Dimassi's and I have tried the Irving one and it is geat too. I am lucky I live close enough 4 miles or so. I've been to the Richardson and Plano/Frisco locations several times but prefer the Campbell location as they are closer and I think the atmosphere is a bit friendlier. Lots to like as they offer many selections of hot and cold buffet options, desserts and drinks. I like that everything is included in one price and that it's self serve. Both locales have plentiful seating and lots of disposable gloves for patrons as well. I haven't tried everything as I tend to fill up on favorites. This is a good place if you haven't tried mediterranean food as there are so many choices. Gentleman at the register told me they have multiple locations. Casual atmosphere, very clean, good value for the money. Weekdays and lunchtimes are a few dollars cheaper. Staff was diligent about refilling buffet items and clearing tables. read more

I've been to Dimassi's once before my life with Yelp when it was located on Frankford and Preston. My friends and I walk in and it was practically empty but since we were already there, we decided to stay and give it a chance. It definitely did not impress it and not worth the $$. We never came back... Then one week, my co-worker wanted to come here for her birthday. Since my last visit, they've moved to this location on Campbell and 75 which was a smart move bc they have much more exposure. I decide to suck it up and give it another chance.. Place is really wide open. You walk in and start grubbing. The buffet is one long line in the back. There's plenty of seating so we easily found a table for the 6 of us. You have a very big selection of food. They had my faves - fried cauliflower as well as other items I don't normally see... like fried chicken! Err? Am I in the right place? Maybe they just cooked something up to fill in the space. Your meal comes with dessert and a drink (whether you like it or not!). To the naked eye.. the food looks the same. But when I ate the food, I wasn't surprised... the food was not as good as it looked. The dips were not as well blended as what I'm used to, it actually tasted gritty. The naan was just sitting out so it wasn't warm and it didn't appear fresh. I'll give it to them.. the price is cheaper... but I would rather pay an extra $2 and go to Ali Baba which is right around the corner where the quality of the food is much better. Now I have to tell you about my weird experience! The owner/manager is walking around so I asked him if we pay first or just start eating first. He told me to go ahead and start.. then he tells me, "We have a special for kids!" That was rude!! I know I look young but come on now, be a little professional! You can see I'm in business attire so I'm not a "kid". When I go pay, he asks me how old I am but in this creepy manner. I can't figure out if he's trying to flirt with me or what! Full disclosure: former line cook in multiple restaurants. My family and I have been regular patrons of Dimassi's for years now. Like 2-3x a month regulars. The quality and flavor of the food has always been A1, but when my husband and I visited a month ago we had noticed a slight drop in quality. Last night, however, was absolutely horrendous. Like I said, I am a former cook so I can tell when the kitchen is having issues and it appears that they must have lost essential kitchen leadership/manpower and the quality has suffered greatly. The staff seemed miserable. I will say I didn't notice anything concerning food safety (other than a lovely family with a man SCRATCHING HIS ASS AND TOUCHING THE FOOD (btw, you could see he did not have underwear on. And if that gentleman is reading this right now, shame on you and your children for being absolutely disgusting jerks and contaminating the buffet!!!!) in front of the bread baker. The food didn't look diseased or dangerous, but you could literally taste and SEE in the food that the hands that made it were clearly angry/sad/uninterested. Thick chunks of gyro, bland unsweet goopy milk and rice mixture, inedibly salty fried fish, tabouleh that made your lips pucker from salt but not a drop of lemon could be tasted. The garlic "sauce" WAS A PASTE. Like I said, these weren't dangerous mistakes but they were mistakes that screamed "please put me out of my misery." Dimassi's if you're reading feel free to reach out, I don't want to be so harsh but it really is the truth. This is the best value for Greek and Mediterranean food in Richardson....the weekday lunch buffet is $10.81 included tax. There was a very large variety of salads, dips, vegetables an meats so you will definitely not leave hungry. The fresh pita bread and baklava was spot on! I would have paid just for the vegetables! Outstanding grilled eggplant and the stewed okra was delicious! Great salads and tabouli but needed a little more lemon or acid to be perfect. The lunch buffet was free from children running around!!!!!! Dimassi's would have scored five stars with some minor and affordable improvements: The interior and exterior is dated and in need of a remodel. Unlike the buffets in Las Vegas this was one large room and feels uncomfortably like a cafeteria There was only ONE team member cleaning tables or removing used plates so I had to clear a table (one plate) just to have a seat. They need extra staff for the busy lunch crowd. The placement of the tables was so close you had to make long walks to get refills or risk bumping into someone. There is enough room to create neat paths to enable traffic flow to and from the buffet line. It baffles me as to why a buffet had only one of two stocked napkin dispensers and they were those thin useless napkins. This is a buffet. If you can't wipe off your hands, the same food is going to be on the serving spoons. No issue with plastic drink glasses but they need to be double the size. I would recommend this place to a friend and plan on returning. read more

I've always liked Dimassi's for the variety of items on the buffet. The food is delicious and I can get my choice of meats, salads, etc. I have almost always done take-out on the buffet, which tends to be a far better deal than eating there unless you really are killing it with the refills. I'll go fill a box up for $16 that more than feeds 2-3 people. The thing I thought was really nice is that when I was talking to one of the guys who worked there, he said they often take leftovers to some areas not far from the restaurant that are not so well off. There is a woman there who takes the food and distributes it to needy families in the neighborhood. How awesome is that? I paid my first Saturday visit to Dimassi's on a lunch date with some friends and their kids. It had been a while since my last visit, so I thought I'd update my review. The decor has been updated a little; there are some nice lighting fixtures that help offset the florescent tubing, and I think the tables and chairs have been upgraded as well. As for the food, the buffet line looks largely the same, but the taste was even better than I remember it. We were some of the first to arrive for lunch, so the serving trays were filled with fresh food, which probably helped. My fellow diners and I feasted on some of just about everything from salad and fruit all the way to the "heavy meats" and dessert; about the only thing we didn't try were the served-to-order lamb shanks which are available only on the weekends, but we did see them being served to other tables and they looked delicious. We didn't see much being left behind, either, so I suspect they were great. My favorites of the day had to be the baba ganoush, kebab chicken and the make-your-own gyros. All in all, I still think this is a great buffet for the money, and the presence of many ethnic families tells me confirms that it's not just Americanized cafeteria food. Give it a try! read more

Dimassi's is an all-you-can-eat Mediterranean buffet chain with several locations int he Metroplex. This location is a little like a school cafeteria with lots of cheap tables and chairs and a buffet along the back wall. The food is ok, but nothing special. What does stand out is that they do make their pita bread fresh in a big stone oven and you can definitely tell, because it's easily the best food in the whole place. Some of the buffet food, like the gyro meat or the cauliflower were above average as well. Not bad if you feel like this type of food, but then you could drive a short way to Afrah and get really exceptional food. read more

This is a very good place for a lot of mediterranean food. It is a little out of the ordinary because you just walk in and get your food and eat, then you pay on the way out. You don't need to wait for the hostess to seat you, they count the people as you go in and out so you just pay when you leave. It is a buffet so there are places with better quality, but the food here is still very good. Also they have a very large selection, and pita is constantly being put out fresh. This place is good if you're craving for some Mediterranean food. Looks like they've removed since the last time I was here. Good for groups. There are several choices for vegetarians-salads galore. They also have 3 types of hummus-classic, avocado, and spicy. My favorite, though is the baba ganoush. So tasty. There are also several meat dishes to choose from, but I'm not a big fan of the meats here. The grilled chicken breast was a little dry for me, and I don't much care for the pita bread especially when it's cold-kinda tough and dry. I'd like to give Dimassi's a 4 star review but can't quite manage it. Let me explain why. When you walk in you're told to sit anywhere you like. That's fine...but then you look at the tables and they are all so close together, very cramped. Anyone with claustrophobia may have a problem sitting comfortably. I could hear every conversation the people at the next table were having and had to keep myself from nodding, smiling, or all out saying that I agree with them. However, if you can get past that you will be impressed with the wall to wall buffet. There's a small salad selection and from there you can find chicken and lamb, vegetables, rice, breads, and more. There is no table service so you have to get your own drink and silverware. The water came out very slowly! The staff we interacted with were friendly enough and they kept the buffet well supplied. Overall, I enjoyed the food but I may try a different location next time to see if the tables are crammed together or if it's just a Richardson thing. This is basically the Mediterranean answer to Ci-Ci's with a better quality of food, hence the solid 3..let's say 3.5. read more

They have a pretty nice selection of Mediterranean food, lot's of option both for vegetarians and meat eaters. I really like their big selection of different chicken dishes. The only problem is that you always get so full because it's so good but I guess that's my fault :-) Their pita bread is also good and fresh. We have been going to Dimassi's now for over a decade. Usually, its the restaurant you can always count on to be up be consistent, not amazing but just good food at a solid price. They have recently done a face-lift of the interior and are working on the exterior as well. I think this may be a sign of new management? Today's dinner was an utter disappointment. We usually try to avoid the iftaar crowd during Ramadan, but our daughter wanted to go there for her pre- birthday celebration. We got there around 8:50-9 and the buffet was obviously in need of replenishment. We got our food and assumed that they would be refilling some of the go to items such as gyro, kababs, fried cauliflower, ect. Around 9:20, a reasonable amount of time to have passed, I asked if they were bringing any more food out to which the reply was yes. 9:45 rolls around and there is still nothing brought out. I went to the front and inquired about the buffet. The response was that they closed at 10 and would not be filling anymore items. Now there were at least 8 other groups/ families in that restaurant some of whom were also awaiting for the refills and still eating. When we brought it up with the woman at the front desk we were greeted with a, "Well, we close at ten and you should have informed me earlier." I do not think its unreasonable to think that if there is an entire hour before a restaurant closes that there should be the items they serve there. Not to mention I HAD informed them of the missing items. If you are not going to refill your trays you may want to mention that as people are walking in or turn your open light off. Maybe its to cut corners or food waste? I don't know. All I know is that we left very dissatisfied. I have a feeling this is the beginning of the end of one of our go to spots. read more
