Its a clean spot typically but there have been aome questionable days recently where the restrooms and dining area seemed neglected. The food is pretty good. There is better authentic Mediterranean available very close but they are typically fast. Its very spacious and large spot. I love Dimassi's and have been to a a few locations around the metroplex. This one is no different from the others. They offer a wide variety of both hot and cold dishes as well as desserts. The dining area is big and clean. They have someone constantly walking around clearing plates and cleaning tables. Just know everything else is self serve including your drinks and silverware. I reviewed Dimassi's over three years ago but once I became aware of their closest competition, Ali Baba, a taster's choice was in order. With all the hype around Ali Baba which is also in the Richardson area, I went in with high expectations and wondering if Dimassi's could measure up. Let me give you a spoiler right now.. they did! -- It is 2025 and I just saw I never finished this review from 2017. Dimassi's is still here and just as good. They have expanded to new locations around the area, which are just as good. They seem to have tight control over their menu at the expansion locations. Nobody gets 5 stars, but it's not because of the food. The original Richardson location is very old and is a bit.. stuffy. The buffet table makes the restaurant hot and ventilation isn't great. The tables and chairs are ancient and very cafeteria-ish. The expansion locations are much more comfortable and modern. The food, however, is still great. I go for the meats: The Chicken Kabob, Kafta Kabob, Gyro, Biryani Chicken are best. They also have Lamb Shank, which I personally am not the biggest fan of. read more

I've been to Dimassi's twice & it's been consistent in experience and satisfaction. When you walk in you're greeted by who appears to be the Owner. Not much decor but there's plenty of seating. You have the option to enjoy their lunch or dinner buffet w/first come first serve seating or pay by weight if you don't want to dine in. If you dine in what's cool is you pay when you leave. Walking up to the buffet, you'll notice they have boxes of gloves sitting out for guests (which I love for sanitary purposes). The buffet is always fresh with a variety of different food, drinks and desserts to choose from. They also do a great job of updating the name tags so you know what you're eating if unfamiliar with the dishes they serve. All in all I think Dimassi's is great and worth a try if you're looking for something different to eat, be it a meal for yourself or your family to enjoy. read more

This place rules! The veggies are all fresh and all the meat is delicious. Well, i don't know about the fish because i didn't try it. I don't want to be a liar but I would bet it's good. But yeah, very good food. I just can't say it enough. Everybody should go here and bring everyone they know but just not all at the same time because that would a logistics nightmare. Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet is a huge dining hall buffet that serves over 40 different Mediterranean items. Hummus, falafel, baba ghanoush, tabouli, rice etc ..most of the items are vegetarian. The meat items include chicken, gyro slices and fish. $16 AYCE. The price is right but the food quality is mediocre. The interior tables are arranged in three long rows and looks like a school cafeteria. I found the roast chicken, the baba ghanoush and the desserts the better items. They do a brisk lunch business. We ate here on Sunday for dinner. It was moderately packed. This is a self serve spot where you seat yourselves, and get both food and drink. The food was decent. The salads were good, but when it came to the dishes that were hot, it was just a little warm even after getting it right off the line. I was disappointed in the gyro meat especially because it wasn't that flavorful and dry. The lamb was decent, but not very flavorful. The best thing on there is probably the hummus, pita bread and cauliflower dish. Rosewater was really good. Tried it with a dash of Sprite and it was even better. I personally wouldn't go to this location again. There was kids running around like crazy, and families were letting their baby who just learned how to walk, roam freely. Poor kid hit her head on a chair and started crying. It was crazy and it probably ruined my dinner experience for me. We sat at the end of the buffet line, but I felt the place was real good. If I were to guess, probably around 64ish degrees. Overall, food was below average for me, a busser picked up our dishes, and the atmosphere was kids going crazy. Parking was easy. read more

Please note that they will charge you per pound of food that you do not eat so don't load up your plate with food that you cannot eat. You must wear gloves when handling the food (thank God). I have had better Mediterranean food, but not for the price. I'm used to $20 a plate for lunch and this was $17. The restaurant is huge with plenty of seating. Decent food, large variety and reasonable price ($19 for dinner). Is a "down home cooking" Mediterranean buffet with plenty of seating. Not high end or "restaurant" cooking. Simple atmosphere. See their menu for details. (Sad, no tabouli on the buffet - and that's basic!) Yellow Rice/Baked Chicken One of my favorites! Very moist, excellent seasoning, mild heat (very comfortable), perfect rice. I had seconds! Gyro (lamb & beef) Excellent!! Another favorite! Perfect blend - I'm guessing 65% lamb, 35% beef. Moist, nice cook on the edges and perfect flavor. One of the best I've ever had. I went back for seconds. Meatballs Wow!! Don't miss these! Extremely moist, great flavor and nothing Italian about it. Very Mediterranean flavored. Had seconds too. Falafel Delicious! Small and great cook with a moist center. I ate several!! The smaller size gives you a better crispy to moist center ratio (50/50) rather than being 75% moist as with larger muffin size falafels. Fried chicken (legs) Funny to find that here - but it was pretty good!! Perfect batter, crunchy and very moist (not greasy). Mild and simple southern style seasoning and overall flavor. Some are significantly crispier than others - and the crispy ones go fast. Ask them to make a crispy batch if the soft ones are all that are there. I went back for 3 more!! Spring Mix & Mushroom Salad Fresh greens, light dressing but needs more balsamic (could not tell it was even included). Consisted of only greens and dressing - no mushrooms, bell peppers or oregano... as the card stated. (Very bad move.) Hummus Not that great. Smooth and creamy, not salty, average flavor... a little bland and off some how. I only ate 3-4 bites. Not up to my standards. Pita Bread Over cooked and almost dry. (They use a open flame stone oven and don't watch it.) You could still rip it, but the texture was not pleasant and the over cooked areas were like a cracker. They keep it in a large basket with a towel over it. No warmer and it gets a bit old if not eaten (they do not remove old bread). Manfas Lamb moist but on the very bland side - no seasoning. I had one bite an no seconds. Grilled Chicken Not to my liking, but authentic and moist. Flavor profile totally opposite my palette. Medium spice/flavor - worth a try. Kafta kabob Sad - dry as cotton. Very mild spices (almost undetectable) and mild smokiness. Could only get one bite down. Pass on this one. Grilled veggies Thick and slow roasted al dente. No oil or spices. They speak for themselves. Not bad, but nothing special either. Overall impression: Seems most items have a consistent cook but some do not. Good for Mediterranean on the cheap. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but after today's experience we will not come here any more. The food was tasteless, the lamb and the chicken kabob was so hard you couldn't even cut it, the fish was tasteless, the beef kofta was burnt on the outside and undercooked inside. The salads were OK, but overall it is clear that the whole buffet was prepared by someone who took shortcuts and who had no clue what Mediterranean food should taste like. I wonder if the management and the kitchen staff changed. My favorite baklava tasted like 2 month old defrosted cardboard. The other issue was the hygiene. The small plates were insufficiently washed and were still greasy, and so was the silverware! The cups for chai were cracked and the worst part was when the person who was refilling the plastic cups would grab them by the side where you drink, without any gloves and after he touched the cart and something on the floor! Absolutely unsanitary! I am not going into the details about the bathroom that, too, needs a serious attention! When I mentioned some of these issues to the man at the cash register, he offered a firm 10% discount only. This is not a cheap restaurant on the weekends! We were very disappointed and will be choosing other places to eat at. read more

We been to the other location up in Allen, TX. This place does not look big on the outside, but it is big on the inside. The location is not as big as the one in Allen, but the food is pretty much similar. They do tell you to pick up the food with gloves and the hand sanitizer is right out in front. I did not eat as much as I did in Allen for some reason and maybe it is because I did not do my exercise this morning. They do have the same variety, but I also do notice the food does not come out fast as it does in the other location or not as warm like the cheese pizza and the fried chicken. They were both good, but a little on the cold side. The lamb is you have to request for it and ask about it, but please get it as it was juicy and not dry. I did like the coleslaw and salad as well. The dessert where better especially the coconut one as it was not as hard as a rock but the self serve ice cream was very watery and not good. Overall, it is pretty consistent to the one in Allen and I enjoyed the food quite a bit. read more

There was a huge variety of different dishes, with tons of vegan options (clearly labeled). There was humus, salads, rice dishes, moussaka, roasted veggies, falafel, and more. We dined at Dimassi's Buffet on Friday, Oct. 8th. We were overcharged 1 adult buffet which the cashier acknowledged. She said there was no manager there, she could not fix the error and I should call. I called on Saturday and was again told no manager was there to fix it. I called on Monday and was told the same but to call a Houston number. I called the Houston number and a nice lady said she was the Asst Manager and would correct it. The credit she gave was incorrect. I called her again and she said she was at a child's soccer game but would credit the remaining amount. It is a week and later and there has been no additional credit. I will never return to this restaurant not only because they did not fix their error but that there is never a manager present which is very hard to believe. read more

The food is amazing. Going to be honest, I did not know Mediterranean Buffets were even a thing until my friends suggested eating here for dinner one night, and I was absolutely just blown away. --I might have been a little over excited since it was my first time eating here. The only real critique I would add is the staff could probably implement some form of light line-management. In this particular night I was here, there was a family in line who was waiting a tray of food to be restocked so they just stood there instead of returning to their table for now. --which is fine. I would have probably done the same thing. After what maybe 5 minutes must have passed, the family decided to leave their trays at the buffet table with their food and all, and the went back to their own seats to wait, using their trays to "hold their place in line" I guess. I don't know what any other reason would be to ditch their food there. My friends and I were right behind this family of... just trays of food and I turned to my friends and just kind of said "--yeah this is stupid. I'm not going to just stand for this" and just cut in front of trays to continue filling up my tray with food. Everyone else started to do the same. I felt like there really should have been a staff member there to ask the family to do that. The line was so long, it was backed up to the front door because of that family.
