I am not the biggest person when it comes to buffets, but I will be returning to this buffet! Such good arabi/mediterranean food! Been on the hunt for tasty arabi food since moving to Austin and this is the place! It's clean and self serve which makes it easy for casual days. The chicken, kefta and kabob are so good and prepared fresh. Definitely must get the cauliflower as well! They even serve mansaf depending on the day and time. It tastes as good as the photos look.

Moving clockwise: Greek salad, cabbage salad, hummus, avocado hummus, Baba Ghanoush, tabouli, fattoush, & a stuffed grape leaf in the middle

I'm not usually a buffet person but Dimassi's is the one place I'll make an exception because they have delicious food, it's clean, and it's reasonable priced. Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet always has a special place in my heart because they were one of the few places we could find open during the snow and ice storm in February of 2021 that shut down Austin (we were visiting from out of town and were stuck with no food). This was our first visit back after 3 years since moving here and loved it just as much! You pay on the way out so you're able to walk in and join the buffet line right away! There's plenty of hand sanitizer available and you get a fresh plate with each visit. They didn't come by to collect used plates from our table but we were also there not too long before closing. The pricing varies depending on the day and time you visit but even the most expensive pricing on Friday and weekend nights is reasonable at $23.99 per person for all you can eat with the appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks. Here are some of my favorite items: Pita bread (thicker than most traditional pita breads which I LOVE) Baba Ghanouge Avocado hummus Rice with lentils Cauliflower Lemon potatoes Gyro meat (use a pita to make a gyro with the cucumber mint yogurt sauce... so good!) Baklava (I usually don't love baklava because it's so sweet but this one was great) If you want a great selection of Mediterranean food and the ability to indulge in as much as you want, you can't beat Dimassi's! I already can't wait to go back and will continue to recommend it to others.

    Buffet deliciousness!!!

Great place. All the food was fresh and very good. There were a lot of protein, vegetable and fruit options. A drink was included with the buffet. The owner was actively participating in running the business, not just telling people what to do. My elderly mother came with us (a group of 9) but wasn't feeling good. I asked if she could get the childrens menu, or maybe something ala carte to hold her over. The owner said, "it was on the house tonight." Wow. We definitely felt welcomed and enjoyed everything about our dining experience.

Prior Receipt with pricing per lb. Now they want to charge Falafel by piece. Ridiculous!

We used to like this place, but under the new management, everything has gone south. - Place has become filthy with sticky tables, flies over the food, odor in restaurant, and felt very unhygienic. - Pricing for boxed food changes on day-to-day basis. Few days ago, they were charging $9.99/lb,then became $12.99/lb, today pricing was on a piece basis. I even showed them their receipt from last week and the person at the counter said that last 2 times their staff made a mistake and now we have to pay higher price. - Staff indicated that Falafel are made in the same oil as other meat dishes which I didn't appreciate. Suffice to say that I would not recommend Dimassis to anybody. I would rather go to Almarah Grill on 620 and 183.

Mediterranean. Buffet. What a concept - but Dimassi's surprised me in a good way. The short: All you can eat pretty solid Mediterranean food for $19.47 (plus tip) - an excellent deal. No, it's not the fanciest facility, but yes the value is there. The highlights: there's a whole buffet dedicated to accompaniments, another for meat / entree, and one for desserts. This is a great place if you are following an eating plan like keto but still want to eat a lot of food. The hummus & garlic dips were incredible. The meats that I had were all mostly good. The baklava was decent, a little sugar forward. The rose water was interesting (like drinking what potpourri smells like but sweet?). Worth the price. The non-highlights: the parking lot is a little hard to find. the bathrooms are not super well maintained. not every food item is great (didn't love every dip, some of the veggies were still a bit raw...but others were cooked well and had a nice char in the same container, the pasta hadn't been refreshed in a bit so it was cold). The ice machine ran out of ice at the end of our meal. They didn't have the lamb shanks (but to be fair, it was a Wednesday night). Glad I got to try this, and would go back for the price or garlic dip alone

The kebabs are the true highlight...juicy, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. The portions are quite large as the hubs and I shared a wrap. We were sufficiently full after eating the chicken tikka wrap. Interestingly, the wrap came in a Shawarma King packaging with their contact phone number. So, I assume that Usta staff are sub-contracting from Shawarma King. Usta also has freshly baked bread and classic sides like hummus and rice paired with the main dishes. The restaurant has a homey, lived in feel. It has a few middle eastern artifacts sprinkled throughout the restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of options, from Iraqi and Adana kebabs to shawarma and traditional Middle Eastern plates, so there are food items for both first timers and regulars who want to explore beyond the basics. They also serve flatbreads where you can have two different toppings. The food focus is on bold, traditional flavors rather than modern takes on middle eastern foods. On the desserts front, they have an assortment of desserts and several sections of ice cream. I had the baklava, which was surprisingly delicious...it was not eye-squinting sweet like a standard baklava. It was crunchy, flavorful, and had nuts that were substantial. Layla, my server, was so super sweet and welcoming. She pointed out that Usta provides its customers free tea. How cool is that? I cannot remember last time I received a free drink.

This time, I barely managed to squeeze one into my trip, and it was kind of a last minute stop from a food truck that wasn't even on Yelp. Upon doing my food research, I was struck by Halal Time's great rating and couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit. A couple of things to note: they charge a 10% online order service charge and a 3% credit card surcharge. When I got to the pickup window they asked if I wanted the food to go or dine in, and we chose to dine in so we could eat it fresh. They had to go containers available at the truck if you needed them. The portions looked small but were actually pretty filling. 1/2 lb Pomegranate and Za'atar Glazed Pork Ribs ($17): Came with 2 ribs that were okay. They were a little dry and lacking flavor on their own but tasted much better dipped in the pomegranate barbecue sauce. Combo Rice Bowl ($20): Came with mediterranean yellow rice, baladi salad, sauce, protein, cinnamon candied nuts, and pomegranate seeds. For the combo, you get to choose 2 proteins. I went with brisket and kofta (ground beef and lamb). Both were really good but a tad salty so the baladi salad helped balance that out. Egyptian Cowboy ($15): I chose lamb for this and it was the star of the show. The pulled lamb shoulder was incredibly tender and flavorful. The smoked mac and cheese was really good too but the rich bechamel was a bit much for us. The sumac pickled onions helped balance out the heaviness of both the mac and cheese and the lamb shoulder. Cardamom Pistachio Rice Pudding ($9.50): Pricey for rice pudding but I wanted to try the unique flavor. It was light but the cardamom flavor was strong. Interesting to try once but I wouldn't order it again.

Review: Fierce Flavors at Austin's Top 100 BBQ Tucked into a…read morequintessential corner lot, this Austin food truck isn't just serving barbecue; it's serving a certified experience. As a recipient of the prestigious Texas Monthly Top 100 BBQ Award, the expectations were high--and for the most part, they were met. The venue itself provides a fantastic, relaxed vibe, complete with plenty of TVs and a music stage, making it the perfect spot for chilling out on a lazy afternoon or settling in for an evening hang. The Main Event: Pitmaster Excellence The true test of a Texas BBQ joint is the holy trinity, and here, they nailed the fundamentals: * Brisket: This was Texas BBQ as it should be. The brisket was super juicy, delivered a profound, deep flavor, and possessed a flawless, great bark that spoke to hours of skillful smoking * Spare Ribs: A study in contrast and texture. The ribs offered a satisfying "good pull"--firm enough to bite but still falling cleanly off the bone. The thick, peppery bark was beautifully balanced by a slight sweetness from a pepper jelly glaze, adding a layer of sophisticated flavor you don't always find. * Pork Belly Burnt Ends: These were pure decadence. Each bite provided a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth experience with a distinct and welcome hint of Fierce Whiskers bourbon woven into the smoky, fatty flavor. They are so rich and irresistible, you know you shouldn't eat too many, but good luck stopping. * Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage: This locally sourced link brought the heat with a good level of spice. The flavor was excellent, though the texture leaned slightly toward the processed side, which was the only minor drawback among the meats. The Supporting Cast: Sides A great plate of BBQ requires sides that stand up to the meat, and while two of these were stars, one needs a little work. * Mac & Cheese: An absolute winner. It was cheesy, creamy, and featured an excellent smoked flavor that permeated the dish. The slightly charred edges added a delightful textural counterpoint. * Hash Brown Casserole: This was a surprisingly strong contender, offering a nice assembly of savory flavors. The secret weapon was the corn flake topping, providing an unexpected but welcome crunch, complemented by a satisfying hint of bacon. * Creamed Corn: Unfortunately, this side was the weakest link. It tasted primarily bland, despite a slight peppery note. It desperately needs some fresh jalapeños mixed in to cut through the creaminess and add the essential Texas kick. Final Verdict The meat selection here is truly Top 100 worthy, excelling in technique, flavor, and execution (especially the Brisket and Burnt Ends). The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed gathering. While the Creamed Corn missed the mark, the stellar Hash Brown Casserole and Smoked Mac & Cheese prove that their side game is usually strong. Come for the high-quality, authentic Texas barbecue, stay for the great outdoor patio.
