Decided to try this place since it is newly opened. Everything I tried was delicious and they definitely don't skimp out on ingredients.
-har gow: Giant chunks of shrimp. Only concern is that the skin is a bit too thick. 4 pieces per order
-siu mai: Plump and juicy. 5 pieces per order unlike other places that only give 4 pieces.
-cha siu baos (steamed): filling is delicious, but buns are a bit too dry.
-xiao long bao: don't expect a lot of juice to pop out. Either way, the filling is tasty, but the skin is a bit too thick on the top. 4 pieces per order
-pineapple egg yolk bun: crunchy and flaky pineapple top. bun is nice and soft. Filling is just right in terms of sweetness levels.
-sweet rice cake: slightly thinner than other dim sum places, but just as tasty. portion is huge and it is not oily at all.
-shrimp rice noodle roll: huge portion. rice noodle is smooth. Lots of shrimps. A lot of yelpers complained about how they don't give enough sauce. IMO, this is mainly because the portion is huge, and the noodles are thick. They should at least fill up the sauce container more, or give at least 2 sauce containers per order.
-bbq pork sticky rice wrap: I thought the name was a bit weird at first, but after trying it, I think the name is a bit misleading because I didn't see any bbq pork in it at all? It uses the typical ingredients of chicken, sausage, mushroom. Super flavorful, and the rice isn't mushy or bland like other places I have been to. 2 pieces per order
-portugese egg tarts: super flaky and buttery crust, nice and flavorful filling. these are some fragrant egg tarts. 3 pieces per order
-pan fried turnip cake: Unlike other places that use dried shrimps in their cakes, they only use turnips and small pieces of sausage in their turnip cakes. The sausage really brings out the flavor and makes it more fragrant. I dislike dried shrimps, so I'm especially pleased with their turnip cakes. The texture of the cake is soft, yet not soft to a level that it will turn into mush once picked up. Additionally, they are thick. 3 pieces per order.
-taro cake: possibly my favorite out of everything. Literally tastes like 90% taro and 10% flour. Again, other places like to add ingredients like dried shrimp, sausage, etc., but their taro cake is just taro. The taro is so fragrant on its own that it doesn't even need other ingredients. This is quite a filling dish though. Additionally, the pieces are thick and yet they managed to have it cooked consistently throughout. 3 pieces per order.
IMO, at 2.88 per order it is very reasonably priced for the portion and quality. In terms of ordering, I actually quite preferred the method of taking a piece of paper and marking what I wanted so that they can pack it for me. It creates much less of a chaos. The area where they pack the food for you is pretty small though, so do expect a bit of a wait, as well as a line.
Great dimsum take out place. Will come again. read more
